I really like stopping at this store while I am at the West Covina Plaza mall. They have a lot of anime gear, pop culture collectibles, or alternative fashion and is a fun place to browse. The interior of this store has that classic edgy vibe with dark decor, loud music, and walls full of graphic tees, hoodies, chains, backpacks. Even though it has that dark decor and vibe, they still sell cute anime or Disney accessories. I like their variety of Loungefly backpacks and they are cool to collect and also can be quite expensive. I also browsed their clearance section which contained a lot of T-shirts, anime hoodies, Sanrio merchandise, and goth-inspired accessories like chokers, jewelry, and platform shoes. Service was good. Some employees are friendly and helpful when it comes to finding sizes or locating specific merchandise. However, a lot of times the prices aren't marked so I had to take it to the register to get the value. read more

It's the best place to get the coolest gifts for the teenager (and teenagers at heart!) in your life. They always have great sales going on so that helps a lot. What I so appreciate is that they have an option where you can ask the item to be shipped to their store instead of to your home since there is a minimum purchase amount you must meet before availing of free shipping. I don't want to have to spend on shipping but I also don't want to have to blow all my money on things just to get shipping for free. This is a nice compromise. The staff is so helpful, especially Pow. She helped us navigate the store and find what we needed. But then again, getting lost in all the merchandise isn't so bad because they have so many little knickknacks you can examine. Been such a long time since I shopped at a hot topic store. As usually when you enter it feels like a dark mysterious dungeon and your squeezed between corners and aisle still of merchandise on sale or on a bogo % off. The back is still their clearance section where you can find super large t shirts on sale and other items at great deals depending on how long it's been on shelf. Staff are usually friendly, you may come across that one staff who looks at you with a death stare but still tells you where to find what you are looking for. Most of the time you get the staff who looks like they won't help much but end up being a super sales person. They sell so many things now such as blind boxes and ramen bowl kits. They still sell the usual outrageously funny and weird clothes, belts, pants, jewelry, accessories, and toys. I'm glad to see the place is still around. read more

I had some of the friendliest workers who were probably the most amazing Hot Topic employees I ever met. I don't know their names, but I was here at noon. The man asked if there is anything I needed help with, and I just told him that I wanted to use a coupon, but it was online only. However, the man said the store will still allow the discount. He was definitely a cool store employee. In addition, the female employee who helped me out was also cool too. She was trying to get the code to work, but it failed. Nonetheless, she said that she would still discount the total and told me to save the code for online. So I saved quite a bit when I purchased an Invincible mystery figure and a mystery Spider-Man magnet. Like how cool is that?? Especially my kids now keep changing in what they are into depending on the season (Fortnite, and some other things that I don't remember), and its nice to have a physical store for me to browse and decide, instead of buying things online. This is one of my favorite Hot Topics to go to, but the girl with the curly purple hair that works here is seriously lazy, and rude. I've called this particular HT on one occassion to ask if a certain Funko Pop was available, without checking she said they didn't have any (she has a distinct voice, so it was definitely her). I come in the same day, and find it on the shelf. Seriously too lazy to even check the shelves or look it up in their system...... A different time, my boyfriend and I came in and asked if they could check the top shelfs for a particular Funko Pop, and she said sure, but we waited 20+ minutes before finally giving up and leaving. Totally forgot about us. I don't care if she was busy, she could have asked one of the other workers in the back to do it ........or better yet, give us the ladder to look ourselves. read more

I had purchased my items online but I had my items delivered to this store. I had called yesterday, to ask if my stuff had been delivered yet. Since I had never received an email about it being delivered. I was told my order was in the store. I went in today but it turns out my items were canceled. One of the employees named Antony apologized for it getting canceled. He managed to locate the items I ordered in the store. I had to repurchase them but the items were original priced so he gave me a discount. Which I appreciate since it was not his fault. This is my first and last time stepping into this location. The employees at this location are VERY RUDE. The lady at the register asked me if I wanted my receipt in the bag, I briefly said no. She continued to say "SO YOU WANT IT HANDED TO YOU?" The tone she said this to me was also very sassy. Oh, and I also had a coupon sent to my email since I signed up for newsletters online and the store manager was being rude and asked where I had gotten the coupon from and made me feel very uncomfortable. By far the most annoying customer service experience in history. It started out ok...we were greeted when we walked in. When I found a tank I liked, the sales girl helped me find my size. So far, so good. It was smooth sailing until I got to the cash register. The sales girl was trying to ring me up, when out of nowhere another worker starts trying to upsell me. I understand it's retail and they are required to try to add more to your sale, but this went beyond that. This guy not only tried to push other items on me, he actually tried to talk me out of the shirt I was buying. I told him repeatedly I wasn't interested...I just wanted my shirt. At one point, he looked at me and said, "are you serious?" So rude. If I didn't really love the shirt, I would've walked out without buying anything. This guy was a complete jerk. He had no business even interrupting this girl's sale in the first place. Much less trying to tell me what I should or shouldn't be purchasing. I'm glad I don't live anywhere near this store, but I wouldn't go back even if I did. read more

Oh em gee!!! I just left Hot Topic in Plaza West Covina. I have NEVER had such great customer service. The Assistant Manager, Yoli, was so kind! I needed a Rolling Stones shirt for my concert tonight. All tht were left were big or super small sizes! Yoli offered to help me cut my shirt to make if fit and be super cute!! She literally went out of her way to transform my typical "guys tee" into a super cute and girly tank! This girl needs a raise and a promotion!!! They are the most helpful, funny, and extremely wonderful store employees I have ever encountered in any HOT TOPIC establishment! I did get some good stuff here and the people were nice, but when I went to Puente Hills they just had better stuff (I think their location is bigger). I got Ariel merchandise (perfume and ring), Supernatural wallet, a Beauty and the Beast pocket mirror and two pins. My total was around $45, but I used the $10 off $40 coupon from the Puente Hills location so my total was about $35 and I got $15 Hot Cash. My rating is more like a 3.5, but since there's no half stars I rounded up because overall I had a good experience. read more

The store itself is clean and well organized. The male working today was welcoming. Friendly even. Then there was the woman on shift. She was rude. She ignored my husband. She rolled her eyes and sighed loudly when my son picked up a keychain to show me. I made sure it was put back properly. When I couldn't find what I needed I went to ask her for help. (She was closest and he was busy.) I made eye contact and she turned away and quickly almost ran to the back of the store very obviously avoiding eye contact. read more
