I came here on a Tuesday evening at 8 pm after not finding size 12 shoes for my daughter at two other shoe stores. The level of customer service was unreal and unlike any other retail store. No less than 3 staff members asked me if I needed assistance and they all told me about the latest promotion ($15 off of kids shoes). I honestly was blown away with how friendly, helpful and knowledgable they were. The West Covina store really went above and beyond to accommodate my online purchase, that was later canceled. I placed an order for a shoe that I really loved that eventually was out of stock in my size online. The associate Alexis understood how much I liked the shoe and searched for the shoe at other store locations, were she eventually found it in Hawaii and told me that they were going to ship it to West Covina location; however, a few days later the the Hawaii location told her it was too much to ship, so she took it upon her self to find another store that had my size and eventually received the shoes at their location a couple days later. When picking up the shoe we were helped out by Charles who also had great customer service just like Alexis. I felt that all the store team members were very helpful and kind. Hello Kitty!! Came in because there was a sign for Hello Kitty! Who can resist the cutesy HK gear? Sadly it was just their canvas skater shoes & the sales associate's sticker that had her face. I was hoping to see some tote bags or beachwear; they seem to have the latter, but the selection wasn't that great. Vans shoes are nice and casual, a nice fit for most, but over the years their prices have raised significantly. Their womens clothing is beach and casual lounge wear. We are talking lanky sundresses, long flowy shirts, and denim shirts kind of clothing. Guys have more selection for clothing and accessories here. So, so, so... where to begin. I wasn't expecting to find anything in here, My friend and I were just browsing for a shirt for my significant other. You probably think you know where this is going... most yelp people are inspired by negative encounters BUT keep reading. It was 8:50 PM. The most annoying thing I could do to a retail employee. Upon browsing I found a shirt that caught my eye but the color wasn't what I was looking for. We were approached by Jasmine(SUCHHHHH A GREAT HELP) I apologized for being "that customer". You know the lagger who keeps the store doors open. And she was so sweet. She helped me look at all different styles until I FINAAALLLY found something I liked. She was not ONLY super helpful and sweet, but she was also hilarious which made me feel less bad about being a last minute customer. She mentioned she was a manager(go figure, with that great customer service). My friend and I made our way to the register and were then checked out by two other sweet employees. This store has poor customer service and business practices. I went into the store in the afternoon of 07/14/2021 to do a simple exchange and a return. Rather than be greeted with a proper and warm greeting that one would expect from someone whose responsibility is customer service I was immediately met with a foul attitude by the cashier. I unfortunately do not remember her name as I did not continue the encounter with her for long as I sought out help from the floor manager, Noemi, instead in the hopes that I would receive better service, I did not. She was equally as rude. Rather than let me return the merchandise for store credit, she insisted that I must make a purchase the same day and would not allow me to keep said store credit to be used on a purchase a later date. Given my own retail and managment experience with vans and other companies, I know that she was merely lying to me so that their numbers would not be "poor" and so that they would not reflect a lack of performance for them or the store. I find this to be highly inexcusable and frankly illegal as I had every intention of taking store credit rather than a full refund. This is tantamount to theft and I would be remised if I did not inform people of this situation as I highly doubt that I am the only customer to have had an encounter of this nature. read more

I came to check out the new Nintendo collection.It looked pretty cool on line but the designs just didn't work for me up close.I tried all the styles but no cigar.One thing that worked for me was the great customer service.Thanks Thomas and Sauskia for putting up with my annoying antics.They brought out several different pairs and still I came out empty handed.They were both running back and forth from the register and helping other customers.And you know,they still managed to keep a smile with the eagerness to please.Good job dynamic duo.I usually try to buy a pair of collector edition kicks but not this time.This location is pretty big compared to most.They have a lot of buy one get the second one half off through out the store.I will definitely keep coming back to this location. read more

Usually they seem to never have my size in the style i want here. not sure if this is actual or just a lazy employee thing. It does get pretty hectic and backed up here with people waiting for someone to help them. Mall locations always are less favorable to me then the free standing locations. I got myself a pair of new black authentic vans here and I got to say, this vans store rocks. The staffs here were very nice and helpful. Tyler was the employee who approached me and asked if I needed help. He got me my pair of shoes and even put the lace on it for me. Great guy. Currently they have a special where if you spend $50, you get a $20 bonus bucks for future purchases. Though you can use that until the end of this month. Overall, I would come back again. read more

Arrived around 3:30pm had help from Tanner and another sales associate. Everyone from the sales person to Tanner to the girl at the register were super friendly. I feel bad I don't remember the guys name who helped us because he truly went above and beyond and gave my daughter and I the best service. Definitely an excellent experience. My receipt says Rian helped us so hope Rian, Christina and Tanner are acknowledged for such outstanding customer service. I would NEVER shop at this store ever again!!! I had the worst customer service in my life. The "manager" on duty, was giving me attitude because I was asking for an employee discount on a pair of shoes. I didn't have the right form for the discount but I had proof that I was an employee and had a pay stub proving I was. He still denied me the discount so I kindly said "Okay, Ill take the shoes anyway because I really need them". The manager rang me up for the shoes that I paid full price for. After I kindly asked for the corporate number, he angrily refused to give it to me. I was so shocked at the way he was talking to me and in front of other customers. I told him that I worked in retail and you cannot refuse a customer a corporate number and he replied, "why am I going to give it to you? So you can complain to them about me?", "Let me get your employers name and phone number so I can complain to them about you". I said that it is none of your concern what I do with that number. He laughed at me and humiliated me in front of others. He than gave me the number and his name and tore my receipt while writing this information down. I have never felt so harassed or embarrassed at a store in my life. I complained to corporate about him and they sent me to the general manger of the store. He gave me the excuse that I gave the "manager" on duty a hard time with pressuring him to give me an employee discount, and that is why he talked to me the way he did. I was shocked that he thought that what the BOY (manager) did was excusable. I told them that I was a regular customer who paid full price for a pair of shoes and I shouldn't have received the worst customer service for that. I got nothing in return but horrible experience. Very welcoming staff. I bought a shoe cleaner here. It was not on display. An employee here seemed very helpful when I asked her about their shoe cleaning products. She even told me about their debris repellant. It was supposed to let water drip off of shoes after being sprayed with it. She was even willing to demonstrate it to me but I already had such an item. I went into this Vans location yesterday to buy three pairs of shoes for my goddaughters. One salesman was helping out each of them when the youngest one who is starting kindergarten told me that she had to use the restroom and that it was an emergency. I asked the sales person who was helping her out if she could please use the restroom and that it was an emergency. He told me that it was against their policy but that he would ask a manager. He asked someone, who then turned around and asked someone else. The manager then came over and explained to me that it was against their policy to let anyone use the restroom. I completely understand that there's a policy, however this little girl is five and starting kindergarten! They told me that the closest bathroom was at Macy's. Holding it as long as she could, she made it all the way 1/3 down the mall to the Macy's bathroom where she peed her pants anyway, Poor girl. Her older sister just spent 21 days in the hospital. She was just released and I offered to take these two girls shopping just so they could be ready for school... And now he was my little goddaughter in tears because people couldn't find it in their heart to let her use the restroom! When I dropped her off to her parents, with her sad little face, she admitted to her mom that she had Peed her pants. I tried to reassure her that it wasn't her fault, that it was the people at Vans who couldn't be nice and let her use their potty. I won't be returning to this location and never went back to buy the shoes. I planned to buy three pairs of shoes yesterday for these girls, who only like to wear vans, but now I'll take my business elsewhere where they understand customer service. If they didn't want to let me or her teenage sister back into their stock area, I understand. We can hold it. They shouldn't sell items made for kids if they're not ready to accommodate kids. read more

I shop at Vans all the time and this is the best one for sure! The staff there are all super nice! I have shopped here at least 20 times and have never once had an issue. Everyone is extremely helpful, always smiling and goes above and beyond to help me and my 10 year old son. Most recently the manager there (a girl I don't remember her name) special ordered shoes for me that they didn't have in stock anymore because the shoes I had purchased there earlier were defective. She took back my old shoes, special ordered new ones for me and there was no hassle at all about it. The store is spacious and I never feel crowded. The employees are all great.
