Parking can be difficult during peak season but most of the time it is ok. Compared to prices in the Philippines, they are overpriced but still consider them to have reasonable pricing in terms of US standard. They mostly have what I needed when craving for Filipino food and delicacies. They have also expanded their products to other asian countries. Staff are mostly welcoming. When you buy fresh fish, you have the option to have it cleaned free of charge (just give tips). Their kitchen has a variety in their menu. My fave back in the days was their BBQ pork belly however they don't serve that now. I also love their fish soup (sinigang na pompano). Basically their food is really good. The selection of produce is impressive, they also have a wide selection of fresh fish and seafood as well as different cuts of meat. In addition, they have a great amount of frozen and canned goods and of course dry goods. It's not only filipinos that patronize them I see a lot of different ethnicity coming in to buy ingredients and their products so that's really good. They also have a selection of Filipino breads, like pandesal, pan de ube, and cheese rolls. The store is clean, extremely organized, and fully stocked. I personally like roaming through the sauces aisles and ice cream section. There is a hot foods area and a bubble tea shop that I didn't get to check out, but they looked good. Some pantry items and produce are on the pricer side, but you're basically paying for the convenience. If you're in the area and don't want to make the drive to KP Market or Seafood City, I highly recommend shopping at Oriental Market.

Of all the stores this market is the largest and possible has the largest variety of merchandise. I've eaten a good amount of Indian food over the past 72 years. I like the less spicy classic dishes found in northern Indian cuisine. Truth be told the most delicious and elegant Indian restaurant food I've eaten is in a myriad of places in London England. Anyway I stopped in here to wander through the entire market to see what's on the shelves, freezers, fridges and produce cabinets. I bought a dozen items. The prices are on par or even a little lower than other Indian markets in Roseville. Fresh turmeric rhizomes at $5.99 pound is 70% cheaper than Safeway. I gave just a sideways glance at the bakery and kitchen area. I will return soon to sample a lunch plate. I'll write an update after that meal.

This is a Burmese Myanmar shop, full stop. They do have a little bit of other Asian things here,…read morebut those aren't anywhere near enough for much. And as you browse down the aisles, you'll see things you've never seen before. Hell, a lot of the products are in Burmese only, with maybe an English sticker on the back. That's how authentic and unique we are talking here. Fermented laphet, both whole and grounded, for tea leaf salad. Cans of pickled vegetables you've never seen before. Condiments. Fried garlic crunch. Instant noodles. More pickles and shrimp cake in the fridge. These are not things you'll find in the nearby major Asian supermarket. And if you find yourself with too much fermented tea leaf at once, well, I have sesame dressing at home, and my go to is noodles dressed with the sesame dressing for a good base flavor, with the laphet added for a twang in the flavor, and cilantro added for freshness. Because they sell laphet by the bag on the shelf, and that's a lot, but they also sell them in packet bundles on the stand near the door, and the packets are super powerful, at least when you're cooking for just a bachelor.

I buy the ingredients here. It's the closest Indian grocery to my house. The shop is clean. Staffed by friendly if painfully shy employees. The selection of goods is not overwhelming like in the giant Indian supermarkets of Berkeley or Los Angeles. I can always find what I need here at Bharat. The fresh produce section is small. The vegetables are usually pretty fresh. I buy fresh turmeric root here for 70% less money than Safeway. My guilty pleasure purchases here are in the freezer section. The samosas, biriyanis, roti, parottas, naan, kulchas call to me. Not the healthiest of items, but certainly better than American factory made breads. If you are from the sub-continent and live on this side of Roseville, you probably know this store. I actually prefer this store over the Reliance market on Fairway.

These steaks per pound seemed way cheaper than any other meat or fish since this economy jumped into the handbasket. The sturgeon was delicious grilled and seasoned with a little duck fat oil amd lemon. I also got some enormous thick loin lamb chops and some veal stew to make my mother's fabulous veal saute (on the stove as we speak) recipe. They had real almond macaroons and an amazing assortment of Ukrainian, Russian, and Armenian delicacies and staples.
