Oriental Market: a Great Local Asian Market in Roseville! This market has always been our go to for filipino ingredients, fish and any asian delicacies or specialty items since they are the only one in our side of town. Parking can be difficult during peak season but most of the time it is ok. Compared to prices in the Philippines, they are overpriced but still consider them to have reasonable pricing in terms of US standard. They mostly have what I needed when craving for Filipino food and delicacies. They have also expanded their products to other asian countries. Staff are mostly welcoming. When you buy fresh fish, you have the option to have it cleaned free of charge (just give tips). Their kitchen has a variety in their menu. My fave back in the days was their BBQ pork belly however they don't serve that now. I also love their fish soup (sinigang na pompano). Basically their food is really good. The selection of produce is impressive, they also have a wide selection of fresh fish and seafood as well as different cuts of meat. In addition, they have a great amount of frozen and canned goods and of course dry goods. It's not only filipinos that patronize them I see a lot of different ethnicity coming in to buy ingredients and their products so that's really good. My mom loves coming here for all her Filipino food staples: freshly fried fish, sinigang and pinakbet veggie packs, and pantry items. There is a smaller meat section compared to other Asian supermarkets, but they have the basic beef, pork, and seafood items. They also have a selection of Filipino breads, like pandesal, pan de ube, and cheese rolls. The store is clean, extremely organized, and fully stocked. I personally like roaming through the sauces aisles and ice cream section. There is a hot foods area and a bubble tea shop that I didn't get to check out, but they looked good. Some pantry items and produce are on the pricer side, but you're basically paying for the convenience. If you're in the area and don't want to make the drive to KP Market or Seafood City, I highly recommend shopping at Oriental Market. read more

I haven't gone back here in a few years and I believe they made a lot of improvements to the store. It is well-organized and clean. They even have a small cafeteria-style restaurant selling various hot and ready filipino food and desserts. Yum! My sister and I went here because she likes the sago't gulaman drink from the boba place inside the grocery store. She treated me to halo-halo and it was delicious! A perfect cold treat on a warm day. They are generous with the beans and toppings and the price is reasonable for the amount and quality. For both drinks, I believe she paid around $15 and we place our order using the convenient kiosk. I also found black sesame rice roll snacks there so I was happy about that too. Loved this place! I was looking for somewhere local to buy my Japanese ingredients. It's conveniently located near Trader Joe's and grocery outlet. I was so excited to find it. It's clean and has to places to eat, although I didn't try the takeaway. Prices seem fair on most things. Staff was nice and pleasant. It's a cool little store to find your Asian staples. It's basically the only Asian grocery store in Roseville. It's mostly Filipino, but you can find Chinese, Japanese, etc grocery here too. There's hot food and even boba. We don't come here often, but it works in a pinch. read more

Trying to familiarize myself with the area and at the same time I was searching for an "asian supermarket" to pick up some spring roll wrappers so I can make lumpia in the near future. There was ample parking (and a lot of customers) on a Monday afternoon (holiday). Walking in, everything was well maintained and clean. I didn't quite explore the entire supermarket but it was larger than I thought it would be (based on reading past reviews.) You can't really compare this to the bigger establishments like Seafood City or 99 Ranch or whatever - but from my vantage point they had a wide variety of food. The line threw me off a bit because it starts way in the corner near the produce section. I honestly didn't know if I was in line for the cashiers or the section where they serve cooked food haha. But overall, my experience was fine - I found what I needed, and now know of a store within a short drive when I move to this area and need ingredients that aren't normally found in regular supermarkets. read more

What a disappointment....this review is for the hot food section.... Ordered a 2 item combo and was shocked at how it was served. I was literally given 3 SMALL cups that had the pancit, rice and chicken adobo (see photo). I was expecting an actual food clamshell container but this was ridiculous. This is a great spot in Roseville to pick up Asian groceries - they have both fresh and frozen groceries as well as a pretty extensive hot food section and cold drinks section. It can get busy during the evenings, but most of the time I've gotten in and out pretty quickly. read more

It started as a market selling Filipino grocery items, then evolved by adding a kitchen vending "turo-turo" viands from renowned Pinoy cuisine like lechon kawali and lumpiang shanghai to the lesser known dishes like ginataang langka (unripe jackfruit in coconut stew) and mechadong baka (beef stew). This Oriental Market place is a pretty good place to go to buy various kinds of asian food products and items. The place is clean and organized and the staff who work here are friendly and helpful. However, there is a Filipino food eatery section located inside this Oriental market that sells various Filipino dishes. The foods looked good and I decided to order a large container of the hot beef and vegetable soup. I was surprised when I was informed by their cashier it's $28 for the large size (which by the way is not that huge but only larger than their regular sized container). I expressed my surprise by asking why so expensive? (I am visiting from LA and I still remember paying $25 for a bowl of hot oxtail soup in a hawaiian restaurant in LA which I thought was expensive). The older lady at the front told me rudely, "that's why we inform customers of the prices of the food items", which they never did when I ordered the beef soup. Anyway, I paid for the beef soup and waited for my wife still buying food items from the Oriental Market. When she came, she said she wanted to get herself some food from this eatery and I told her about the food items here being pricey. My wife told me she's already hungry and she will just get one item anyway. While we were eating, I heard the older lady speaking to a customer on the phone and I overheard her arguing with whoever she's speaking with about the high costs of what was being ordered. She even sounded that there are not a lot of places like theirs that customers can order their kind of Filipino food from. It then occurred to me that this is an example of why Filipino foods or restaurants get more difficult getting into the mainstream around here. This is because some restaurants or places like this one sell food items that taste just ordinary, very expensive and also provide not-so friendly service and sometimes, incompetent interaction with the customers (one of their service staff was as probably new and have not been trained adequately yet) I am just glad I'm not coming back to this eatery again. I'll just go to the other Filipino eateries/restaurants around this area when we have to. This is not the only place to order Filipino food items from as that older lady emphasized. read more

The best Filipino/asian store in Roseville! I've been going here for many years and they always have everything I need in stick. Whether it be Thai, Vietnamese, or filipino ingredients. I usually come in here for canned Thai curry ingredients! They offer fresh vegetables and fresh seafood on hand. The cashiers and workers here are super nice! One time I had a screenshot of an item I needed for PHO soup. I couldn't find it so I asked an older gentleman to help me locate it. He was not able to find it on the shelf, but he offered to find it in the back. I told him it was okay and he didn't have and then I went along. Next thing ya know I'm paying and he runs to the cash register telling me he found the product I needed! This is what I call excellent customer service! When you go in, the store is busy but also very calm, everyone is welcoming! Ambiance is great. Lastly, the food is here is utterly delicious. I am Filipino and am usually picky about Filipino food at restaurants, however this place gives you great flavor in every day. The lechon, pancit, and fish are fresh and hot. Does it satisfy the basic purpose of a Filipino grocery store? Yes. It has all the basic necessities plus a boba/halo halo spot and hot prepared foods. Is it more expensive and smaller than Filipino grocery stores in the Bay where I live? Yes. Prices are reasonable being the only Filipino grocery store in the area. Aisles are usually fully stocked and well-organized. The checkout area is a little weird because the cashiers aren't exactly in a row like grocery stores so I wasn't sure how to get in-line. They have parking right out front but I imagine on weekends, it stays full. I was advised to that their hot food items weren't the best so I stayed away. The halo-halo was on point though! read more

Yes, as an island boy, I always try to stop by The Oriental Market when I can. There is just so much to choose from. My choice if precise is always the Manapua (Pork Bun). The are very big, yummy and hit the spot. Okay, I'll admit that there are not the kind we used to get at the truck at Sandy Beach (Sandy's) on Oahu back in the 70s, but these are definitely better the ones at my local L&L Hawaiian Barbecue. Obviously, they do run out, which is a bummer, so try and get there early. The store is always crowded, which is obvious. My only puzzling issue is they don't have Guava: fresh, frozen, or otherwise. Stopped in at the Oriental Market this weekend. It had been a while since we were last there. However ... it is always an interesting experience, and we consistently buy a few things that are not on our shopping list. This time we did not even have a list. We arrived mid-day on a weekend and the place was packed with both food items and "people". Walking in, I noticed that the checkout line was long, but it moved pretty quickly. Our purchases included oysters, shrimp, scallops and shrimp dumplings. While we have only tried the oysters and scallops thus far, they were delicious. Note: they also have a small food court. This YELP! is about the Food Restaurant side and not the grocery side of the store. So recently, I and my family have been craving some good filipino food. While there is another in Antelope. I figured, why not try Oriental Market own restaurant here in Roseville. Now this place is a fixture inside the Grocery store with dining tables. They have some "day specials" like the Kare Kare is only on Friday's from what I found out. Guess what, my wife wanted Kare Kare and my oldest daughter wanted Pancit. So off I drove to Oriental Market. I ordered a Large, Chicken and Pork adobo, Kare Kare and Large Pancit. Their large styrofoam cup like container can feed a family of 4. The items I ordered are basically Ala Carte, so don't be fooled by the look and size of the container. It packs alot of food. How does it taste? Well I have to say it was delicious. I mean was, cause it was pretty much gone. There wasn't even enough for my wife's lunch "Baon" for the next day. Now some say it's overpriced in regards to the Cooked food. This depends primarily on how one views overpriced. If it's overpriced, you can always buy the ingredients and make the food yourself. Or you can pay for the food in which someone has taken the time to prep and cook the food so you can be on your way. I would pay good money for cooked home like food. But then again I ain't your typical pinoy. Unlike some Pilipinos, they want Great Food but at a super cheap price. Knowing they can't cook like that. In any case, take a visit. Try their food and give your opinion on the food and cost. I mean, after all we are in Roseville and most think Roseville is like the Northern Beverly Hills where everyone gotta look flashy for some reason. They have such a crazy amount of items in this store. But what impressed me the most was the women behind the food counter I had noticed on a sign about the corndogs stating fish sausage. When we asked she said no that there was no shell fish then went out of her way to go grab a bag of them for us to look over with out us even asking because she did not want my sister to have a allergic reaction! First visit. Upon entering was impressed how well organized and clean the market is. For a medium size market it has an impressive amount of inventory. The variety of frozen items is impressive. I had a hard time to decide what brand of shui mai and steam buns to buy as there were many options. Also found brands of tofu and kim chee that I've never seen before. Vegetable produce section is small, but most of the items are fresh enough. The bag of bok choy I bought was farm fresh, low priced. Of course the big surprise here is the fresh whole fish selection. Hundreds of fish just plopped on wood crates covered in chunk ice in the middle of the aisle. No fish monger to help decide which fish to select. Gave the ready to eat hot food kiosk a look. Everything there was dark brown, sloshy sauced stews or deep fried to death whatever that to me were completely unappetizing. Check out cashier was friendly. My bag of 8 items cost a whopping $20. Most important, they have the best Boba drinks and Filipino desserts, as well as cooked food you can order out or dine in. Reviewing the fast food in this place. I would go here every now and then when I am craving something and too lazy to cook. Despite some rude ladies behind the counter, I would still eat here. I bought 6 pcs packaged of this Suman. When I opened the first one without removing the whole wrapper it crumbled. Opening the whole wrapper the rice just fell into pieces. I should have taken it back but driving there is a waste of gas. My question why does the owner doesn't check this kind of product, where us the quality.
