I found this spot driving home. I wanted to grab some burgers but didn't want to do a fast food chain. This spot stood out because it looked clean, had parking and of course the food looked good. I was looking for a spot that looked like the burgers were made there and not frozen. I ordered there and got my food to go. It was pretty fast. Unfortunately, I didn't take pictures of the food because I was so hungry. But they were great! I was looking to go yesterday and was sad that they close on Sundays. So let's give this spot some love so that they can open Sundays! Used to be a food truck that turned into a brick and mortar. Burgers used to remind me of a burger place on Broadway and 112th when I was growing up. Not the same quality these days but still good. Everything about it was good, EXCEPT the cheese. Not sure what kinda of cheese they are using but it did NOT melt. I even reheated once it was delivered and no go. -Chili cheese fries: Decent flavor. Same issue with the sliced cheese that they used. (Most places use shredded cheese on this dish, but...) -Onion rings: Okay. Traveled well, but just okay. -Starry drink: Did not receive this and I blame the driver for not checking the order before leaving. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger. The bacon was cooked perfectly with a crispy texture. I loved that it was cooked flat. Over all the burger was very good. The bun was perfectly toasted. I also ordered nacho cheese fries, but received just regular cheese fries. I liked the cheese sauce. It's not your basic, canned yellow cheese. The fries were hot and I liked the thick, soft texture. Only grievance is not getting the nacho cheese fries I had originally ordered. I was a bit annoyed with that circumstance because I asked the girl behind the counter what the difference was between cheese fries and nacho cheese fries. She said the difference is the nacho fries had jalapeño. I ordered the nacho fries for the jalapeño. When I got the order, there were no jalapeños. I returned to the store and asked and she said I didn't order the nacho. I said, "Yes, I ordered the nacho ones." She said I didn't. I thought, okay she's gonna argue? Then she prints the receipt and shows me I "ordered" cheese fries. I'm like, what the heck. I guess she thinks I'm trying to steal jalapeños. Just because she didn't hear me. I did notice she was distracted and not paying close attention to me or my order, so that could be adjusted regards to customer service. She didn't get the order right bc she wasn't paying good attention. Then she said she'd charge for the jalapeños. I said I left my wallet in the car and she said "sorry" and had me go on about my day. That was really disappointing. I guess giving jalapeños would have broken the bank. I read a review where the counter girl got a drink order wrong, where she put ice in the drink when he asked for no ice, and then refused to re-serve it with no ice. The tacos were very bland and the taco shells were terrible. They were like the hard shells you buy ready made in the grocery store. I paid $1.75 for extra avocado, which is the price of a whole avocado in the grocery store. They only gave me a very thin sliver that was so small I didn't know it was there. I had to search through the iceberg lettuce at the bottom of the shell to find it! In the picture on their website, it appears to show the taco to be medium size, filled with at least 3 thin slices of tomatoe. However, my taco was small and only had 1 very thin sliver of tomato. I got the turkey taco and it cost $3.30, but the beef was $2.75... WHY⁉ Turkey is cheaper than beef ALL DAY‼ This is a terrible place for tacos. I first tried out Hotbox Burgers a few months ago with my dad and it definitely left a mark on me lol. It's located near exposition park in a small parking lot which if you don't look close enough would probably be easy to miss. It's an up and coming family owned burger joint that originally started out as a food truck and the young cashiers who are usually attending the register are kind and accommodating. It could be considered a sort of "ghettoish" area to some but for others like me who don't come from the hills or Calabasas it isn't bad at all. Inside there's a few benches while you wait for your food but other than that it's take out only. They accept apple pay too btw. As for the food, the burger is scrumptious! It tastes sort of like an In-N-Out burger but better with a chunkier patty and bun. The bacon-cheese fries are to die for as well, the nacho cheese they use for the fries is mouth watering! All in all 10/10 and definitely worth the 30 minute drive from Long Beach. Support your local businesses, you won't be disappointed. read more

Food is excellent, especially the double cheeseburger. Sometimes I get bacon and pastrami added, which makes an amazing burger even better. Worth the upgrade charge. Recently tried the double cheeseburger with chili cheese, and it reminded of Tommy from the 90s, when Tommys was actually good. From all the local spots available, they have probally the best burger. Better than Hawkins, A1, Master Burger, Fresh and Meaty, Tams, Fat Daddies. They are extremely consistent. Something that A1 and Master Burger lacks. For a long time, Master Burger on Western and Vernon was the best burger spot. It was worth catching a bullet or even catching a fade since somebody would try to take your double master burger combo with cheese combo. However, something happened 6 years ago, where the burger is nasty. Still dirty, and they are now charging an arm an a leg. This is not the case at Hotbox. Reasonably priced and the flavor is amazing. It may even taste better than 90s master burger! If I could offer one critque, it would be the regular fries. The chili cheese fries are amazing, but the regular fries can do with being cooked with a bit more Lawrys season salt. I suggest the staff to take a trip to Master Burger and A1 burger, put Lawrys seasoning salt and report back. It does make a difference! I definitely wished I hadn't ordered the double. The only issue is the bun. It didn't hold the homemade beef patties well and got soggy towards the end. Another thing is that their drinks are canned so I wish I had ordered two sodas. Regardless the beef burger was cooked deliciously and seasoned well. I have tried Hotbox food truck before so when I heard that they now have a store near USC and LA Memorial Coliseum, my friends and I decided to drop by when we were in the area. Met the friendly crew who greeted us as soon as we came in. Placed our orders in the window and a few minutes after, we were handed our goodies for us to enjoy. No tables and chairs are available so we ate our meals in one of the two benches in the store. I had the pastrami sandwich which is unbelievably priced at only $6. Had a side of nacho fries also at $6, the portion of which was huge! I also had a banana Oreo milkshake at $4.50. Everything was great! I really enjoyed my meal. My friends had a chili burger, crispy chicken sandwich with a side of chili fries, and strawberry milkshake. I got a chili cheeseburger and it was def satisfying and tasty. The Fritos (in the bag- Mexi style!) topped with chili and cheese was addictive. My strawberry-banana shake was perfection. Smooth and creamy and fruity. A drink and dessert in one! Located in a mini shopping center next to a gas station- it's not the easiest to find (that sign needs to be BRIGHTER!) but it's well worth the trip around the block. They have burgers, two sandwiches, hot dogs, tacos, fries and desserts. Amazingly, they have vegetarian and vegan options too! No seating, but it has a take-out only following of locals and visiting non-locals like us. They utilize UberEats & DoorDash services. Burgers with all the hot toppings. Bacon. Chili. Pastrami. I've had the chili burger x2. Very good "burger chili". Sticks to the meat and your ribs. Speaking of meat, good flavor, good cooking. Yum Potato bun, barely holds it all together. Fries come with a few options too, the bacon fries are fun tasty and different. We added pastrami to them last time with delicious crispy salty results.
