Hotel 1110 provided a quick and lovely getaway. I would've given this 3.5 stars but some of the grievances are not the fault of the hotel. What's good: - hotel staff: front desk to restaurant staff were kind and very attentive - rooftop lounge: good good and drink - complimentary full service breakfast - conveniently located to downtown (5-10 min drive) - adult only -ample and safe street parking - cleaning service was a plus considering many hotels are opting out of cleaning rooms daily due to COVID Wish it could be different: - on a busy street which means way too much traffic noise we asked to change rooms towards the back of the hotel which helped a little - thin infrastructure = people upstairs from us sounded like their were galloping all day and night - breakfast timing: if you're a late riser like us it would've been nice to have a room service or an option to pick up food to go to eat in our room; It would've even better if they had a coffee machine in our rooms... For our 2nd year anniversary, this hotel was perfect. The chocolate covered strawberries we ordered were delicious and so was the complementary breakfast. Our bed was so comfortable except we wish we had better foam pillows. Even so, hearing the sea lions at night since we were so close to the water was magical! Not to mention, we loved our robes!!! You usually don't get that in a traditional hotel chain anymore so having the luxury of a soft hotel robe is just the cherry on top. The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars was because of the pillows but also because of our shower. Great water pressure but the shower would either be scalding hot or icy cold, there was no in between. Otherwise we absolutely loved our stay and definitely plan to stay here again if we were ever back in Monterey. I wish I could give this hotel ZERO stars!! I booked this place through a 3rd party for the weekend of October 7, 2023 for a music festival happening in town. I had a family matter come up that same weekend forcing me to have to cancel my plans. The 3rd party and myself contacted the host and they denied reimbursing me $137 deposit, they even denied changing my dates to stay at a later date so I wouldn't lose my deposit. Mind you, the event is not for another 4 months! Giving them plenty of time to re-book my room with no problem and probably even for more money! I'm shocked that this place was not accommodating at all!! Great way to lose business!! I feel that is it unbelievably unfair on their part! I will NEVER stay at this hotel and you shouldn't either! Stayed in third floor king room in mid August for two nights. Room was extremely small. The bed took up the whole room! Walls were dingy, the glass dresser was chipped and cracked, and the window opener was loose and very hard to turn. Even though room was in the back, it was very noisy because of the street below. Bathroom was nice except pipes were exposed and electrical outlet needed to be filled in. Website pictures nicer than actual room. Disappointed. Pros: rooftop bar had a nice view. Cocktails were good. Had the classic burger. OK for a boutique hotel. Limited parking but plenty on the street. Our car was fine. Cons: small room, tough to open the window, no coffee maker, cups, ice, or side table to place our items on. Dirty wallpaper. Lobby was OK but very dark. Bar in the lobby was never serviced. Staff only at front desk from 3 to 9 PM. It was an experience but I don't think we will stay there again. read more

Let me start by saying I know this place isn't everyone's flavor of tea, but let me also dispell the negative reviews. You have to really research this place if you want to know what you're getting into. That's where most others come up disappointed. Think of it as a quaint high quality and eclectic bed and breakfast, the rooms will be smaller of course but you're paying for experience. Let me say no hotel is perfect but this one has incredible charm and incredible features that had me over the moon. There's attention to detail ! And I have never met such genuine and kind staff. Some things to note before you book so that you're not upset after making your choice. - parking is very limited but you can call ahead and reserve a spot for only $15 ! (It will be in a all back alley) - the reservation you make is non refundable, so do your research! - yes the rooms are smaller, it's an older hotel -if you don't like eclectic, this is not for you -breakfast is complementary but you must reserve a spot -the hotel staff will leave at 10 and if there's a non life threatening emergency, you will have to wait until the next business day, however you get your very own front door key - there's no fridge for food storage but plenty of food around and food served at the hotel, if you really need one bring a cooler with ice -check in is at 3pm and check out is usually at 12pm - it will be noisy ! Duh it's on a busy street but it's a prime location for price -this is a no kid hotel Now that I've provided the information (that is all on the website) Let me tell you about how incredible this hidden gem is. I will personally be coming back in the future! The owners are incredibly kind and provide the utmost service I have never seen from ANY hotel I have ever been. You feel like royalty. We had our bags personally carried for us and chocolate strawberries prepared already in our room ! We had room 202 and it was so clean and welcoming. The bathroom was incredible with a jet tub and shower ! They even had a fancy blow dryer and an LED mirror ! We reserved our parking spot and they went as far as printing a personal name tag for our parking spot. You really feel like royalty here it's incredible. The staff was beyond any staff I have ever seen ! They will assist you with every need you have and the food and drinks are beyond words. Literally the best I've ever had. And again it's about small details. The rooftop bar had personal heaters. The decor was top of the line and you feel just so welcomed. I have never met such professionals. Even during breakfast service that's complementary they refill your coffee free ! I have never been treated so well anywhere I've been and it was a PERFECT anniversary place. I give this place 5 stars because you absolutely will NOT find service like this anywhere else you go unless you're paying top dollar. I HIGHLY recommend Hotel 1110 for a weekend getaway. It's a prime location with the ocean nearby, lovely shops all around, a gas station right on the corner and even a beautiful park with swan boats right across. Beautiful Hotel in many ways!!!This was my best experience at a hotel. It is quaint and charming with a roof top bar and grill overlooking the bay. The food is perfection too. It's located within walking distance of the Monterey Bay Aquarium and many great places to eat and the walk to get there starts just across the street from the hotel and continues along the bay. The customer service was the EXCELLENT!! I had high hopes for this hotel based on the website description, however, reality was a big disappointment. First, I found the hotel by searching for "beach-front hotels" in Monterey. Not only is this hotel not on the water, but it's located in a seedy area on a busy, noisy, street with vehicle exhaust fumes. The room itself was dirty and the sheets were synthetic with someone else's hair on them. Be aware that there is no air conditioning, and, in my room, no ventilation as the window had no screen and could not be opened more than a sliver. There was only a tiny, plastic fan offered for relief from the stifling temperatures. The room was dusty, sticky and tiny. The bathtub was a very out of date "jet tub" that looked like it was from a bad Vegas hotel from the 70's with a strange shower mechanism that only generated scalding water and should have come with instructions and pliers. All in all, due to the street noise, dust, dirt, cramped space, and asphyxiating heat, I checked out after one night to find a clean, ventilated room elsewhere. Please be aware that the owners/front desk people, who initially seemed nice, completely changed and became rude, defensive, unprofessional and charged me for a full stay siting their "refund policy" -- even though it only applies to advance cancellations. Clearly, had I known how awful this hotel was, I would never have booked in the first place. I have stayed in hotels all over the United States and abroad, including luxury hotels, and budget hotels and can say this was among the worst I've ever encountered. We stayed for one night at hotel 1110 and wish we had another!!! The building is very deceiving from the outside and isnt too inviting, but inside is a different story. We were lucky enough to find parking in their first come first serve lot (and lucky enough we had a tiny car to get back there!). We stayed in the Whitney Houston room and although the bed was elevated with pink lighting underneath and basically was 80% of the actual room- we thought it was adorable. The room had lots of character and the bathroom was large with a jetted bathtub and bidet! Wish there was another little shelf in the bathroom to hold toiletries when getting ready, but we made it work. The main reason I had booked the place was for the rooftop bar! Which was amazing! The complimentary breakfast had 6 options, including lemon ricotta pancakes and chorizo breakfast tacos. This was a legit restaurant breakfast- the tacos had homemade corn tortillas and were loaded! The pancakes were also delicious with very good bacon. The service was great, the Bloody Mary was great, OH- and all of this with an ocean view!!! Seriously one of the best locations for breakfast in Monterey. After enjoying our breakfast we were pretty sad we hadn't come up for a drink the previous night. I'm giving 5 stars because I had a very pleasant stay. Despite the old and dark hallways from other reviews... I didn't mind it. I made reservations for my 20 years anniversary. What caught my attention was the room decor (305). The day of check-in, parking was limited of 4 cars and is first come first base kinda thing unless you reserve a spot for a few $. Walked through the back entrance and yes! It was a dark hallway. When came upon the manager of the day, he just asked me for my ID. He then asked what time I would like to reserve for a complimentary breakfast which is I think from 8am - 9:30am. Then he handed me the keys to my room and explained things. Went to the 3rd floor & walked into a nice cleaned room with a King size bed, a electric heated fireplace, a jacuzzi, a jetted shower, bidet toilet and Bluetooth mirror in the bathroom. Everything seems to up to date. Decided to have dinner at the rooftop. Restaurant- Lindarose. Was seated by the owner, Dr. Nick. A very nice view and he turned on an individual heater for each patron that are seated. Food was on par and delicious! Their alcohol drink was good. I ordered a Greek Salad (fresh and light ), entree- chicken kebab with rice pilaf and steak with fresh cut fries. Dessert had cheesecake kinda taste like cream brûlée. Breakfast was downstair dining room. Got seated and waiter gave us option of coffee or orange juice or both. Then he brought each a bread with butter and blood orange jams while we were waiting for our food. Stayed one night for a birthday get-away trip with my husband AND the day in which there was a county wide power outage! This is not a resort type hotel, it's more on the boutique hotel side. So the decor will be quirky, fun, unique and charming. The rooms will be smaller than average hotels and may have a theme (ours did). We stayed on the 3rd floor and had the smallest room on that floor. We didn't mind how small the room was due to us sightseeing the area, so we wouldn't be in the room much. The bathroom is outstanding! They have the really nice bidets on the toilet (at least our room did). The bathtub is large enough for two! It can be a little jacuzzi/bathtub and also has two other settings for showering. It literally made us adults all giggly with the cool gadgets in the bathroom. They have a rooftop restaurant. I'm not too sure if reservations are needed, but it seemed that it was open to outside people as well, not just hotel guest. We went up to take a peek at the view. It is definitely a view of the city and ocean. Definitely something to do when staying here. We had complimentary breakfast included which is in the first floor. The area is so cute! We weren't able to enjoy a traditional breakfast that they may have provided if it was a regular day due to the power outage, but the chef still delivered an outstanding and delicious breakfast despite the fact that he was cooking in a dark kitchen. This is an adults only hotel, so it's perfect for a couples get-a-way or traveler who doesn't want to hear children crying next door. The only downside of the hotel is parking. They have very limited parking in the back, otherwise parking is on the residential street. It's not bad of a walk, but something to keep in mind. (Originally, I was going to give this place 4 stars due to this). The gold star to giving this hotel 5 stars is due to the hospitality. I cannot say enough of the hospitality. The father and son (who is Tony) duo took care of the guest that were staying there the day there was a power outage. They were very accommodating and did their best to guaranteed that every guest still felt as comfortable as possible. Unfortunately, there were some guest that left angry due to the power being out, even it was something that was out of their control. They were so thoughtful in every way. They had the head chef drive about 25 mins to the nearest open Starbucks so the guest could have coffee that morning. They provided water, juice, pastries and eventually the bigger breakfast items to guest. AWFUL BUSINESS! DO NOT STAY HERE ! The owner discriminated towards people of color ! The concept of the hotel is beautiful and I would love to come back but unfortunately the costumer service from the OWNER is beyond DISGUSTING. Nick is incredibly rude and does not know how to speak to woman or people of color . I was yelled at for wearing the robe provided with the room when walking downstairs to grab a charger out of my car . Nick chased me to my car at 12 am it was midnight ! While yelling " WHERE ARE YOU GOING ,ITS ONLY FOR THE BATH " which is odd because I had just used the bath and now I was winding down and starting to relax for the end of the night . In the description of the hotel it says this is the perfect getaway to relax and be at peace but there was no peace . After I proceeded to come up stairs , the owner proceeded to tell me he was not the owner and then told me to go to bed or he'll call the cops . I went to breakfast the next morning , he ignored me and took forever serving me orange juice while he was serving and being so sweet to other guests around me ... (hmm what a coincidence). The staff was amazing and so friendly but frankly the owners behavior and attitude was TERRIBLE and made me so uncomfortable. It truly ruined my weekend getaway , I work over 47 hours a week .Please consider checking out other boutique hotels before coming here. If you would like to visit the hotel , just visit the rooftop on the top of hotel. Stayed here for a night with the hubby for a quick lil getaway on a Tuesday night after Memorial Day Weekend. Hoping to miss most, if any, of the busy holiday traffic. Even better.....we literally had the hotel to explore all to ourselves.....winning!! Lol! First impression upon arriving is where is the parking lot?? We ended up discovering it is through a tiny alley way at the back of the hotel building. You can then enter to check-in through an entrance at the back of the hotel. It is a very decorative boutique style hotel. Rooms were very fresh and clean smelling upon entering. Bathroom has a nice jacuzzi style tub and shower. Our room was facing the street which isn't for anyone who is a light sleeper because of the cars passing by. But the sound of the waves can be heard which is nice. They provide you with a fan and heater which was a nice addition. Being that we used the fan for white background noise and cooler air since they don't have ac. The best part for us was the beautiful "garden-esque" rooftop/lounge area decorated with a nice variety of succulents, flowers, plants & herbs overlooking the beach, which allowed us to catch a gorgeous sunset. The beach is right across the street, literally a 5 minute walk away. In addition to that was the complimentary cooked to order breakfast that you can choose from their special menu in the morning taking in the ocean air and breeze while having your breakfast and coffee brought to you on the rooftop. You pick a time slot in the morning when you would like breakfast served to your table. The owner, Nick, was very kind and accommodating. Great experience. While in town for rennsport, we found available rooms here, as all of Monterey was booked. 1110 is a small,boutique hotel, but we loved it. It is a 100 year old hotel and rooms are small. What they may lack in space, they make up in excellent service, charm, personal attention and friendliness. Upon arrival, we met Tony, who greeted us like we were family visiting for the weekend. He explained amenities and where to park, etc. Breakfast was included every morning. We're not talking about best western continental muffins here. This is made to order breakfast, coffee, etc. Tony would say good night and we'd see him in the morning. This guy never leaves! And always with a smile. Maria, John and Sara were fantastic in the kitchen. They all wear a few hats during the day, and were always friendly and helpful. Be prepared, this is not a big hotel. There's no pool, game room, lounge,etc. parking is adjacent on the neighboring streets. Rooms are small. The rooms serve a purpose while in town. However, that's the charm. This hotel is AMAZING! My boyfriend and I decided to book hotel 1110 for my birthday. We booked the Norma Jean suite (room 305, the one with the hot tub ;-) The room was clean, spacious, and absolutely adorable! The service was excellent. Especially the front desk staff !! We received a complementary breakfast for every morning we stayed here and it wasn't a buffet it was a restaurant. All the food was delicious (i recommend the breakfast tacos). it's close to fun stuff like cannery row and the aquarium ! Also a 15 minutes drive to Carmel ! I had read to back into the long drive way and this was smart advice because it certainly is tiny. We were lucky to grab the last spot. We entered the hotel through the back door down a long corridor that led to the front lobby. As you enter the room there is a wall mirrors that give the illusion that it's a large room. It is decorated with eccentric furniture that gives the place charm. The staff is very nice but they have strict hours for check in which if you can't make it on time, you need to make prior arrangements. This is a boutique hotel so no I room coffee maker, refrigerator, nor microwave which most large chains have as standard. We had the queen room facing the rear parking lot and side building. It was very small reminding me of European rooms. It was clean, comfortable, and affordable. The hotel has a rooftop bar which has spectacular views! This is where they serve the complimentary breakfast which was a great treat. Way better than any chain hotel offers. The best part for me was the proximity to the beach which was a short walk across the street. This is a great little hotel for which I'll be back to for sure. read more

My spouse and I booked a 1 night's stay here for our anniversary and had such a wonderful time! The concierge was friendly and helpful when we checked in, he even remembered us later and asked how our trip was going and how the massages we got at a different place were! We stayed in the Norma Jean room with a bathtub/jacuzzi in the bedroom (which was so relaxing and awesome), the room was clean and the bed was so soft and comfortable. We had no clue, but apparently the rooms are soundproof so it was private and quiet! When we checked in the concierge asked us what time we'd like to reserve for a complimentary breakfast, we didn't expect anything more than a continental breakfast but we got an appetizer, coffee, and a delicious meal! We only stayed one night so we didn't get a chance to really experience the rooftop bar/dinner but that's alright because we'll definitely be coming back! read more

As a local. I would not recommend for cocktails or atmosphere. Better views can be obtained elsewhere. We were mistreated and made to feel unwelcome there... Arrived today with a few friends (5 people) for cocktails. Was told at the door that we should have made a reservation (when the phone line is dead and we had tried to call) and that our party would have to leave. At which time in an almost empty restaurant (two tables were seated) we suggested they seat us separately. Which they did begrudgingly. After separating our group (when there was space to seat us together) they offered one group food but told the other group they were not allowed to order food. Which was confusing fo such a small venue and not being seated in different zones (I.e bar vs restaurant) our groups (3 and 2) were seated in the same Zone... I ordered one cocktail that claimed to be "Spirit forward" which tasted like simple syrup. At one point they claimed to not have enough staff but we watched two servers hovering over the chef to serve one plate of hummus... Staff was rude, and when the check came out server tried to pry for a larger tip. It was a bad experience. read more

Stayed at the hotel for a wedding over the weekend and was pretty disappointed. First time in Monterey and the trip itself was beautiful except for dreading to come back to the hotel every night. The positives are the rooftop was great and the staff was super kind. The breakfast was surprisingly great as well for being a free breakfast. Bathrooms had a bidet and heated floors. The negatives are that the rooms are horribly outdated. Our sink started leaking the first night. Our showers had the temperature control stuck for our ENTIRE STAY. We had to take lukewarm showers for 4 nights. They fixed the sink eventually but not the shower. The WIFI in our room was also pretty unusable. Reception is only available from 3PM - 10PM every day, so any emergencies at night could not be addressed until the morning. They gave us one key for the room and front door, which they locked after 10PM, making it so that we could not arrive or leave separately after that time. The prices are good for the area but if I knew ahead of time, I would have sprung the extra money for the Marriott or Portola instead. read more

So glad we picked this hotel for our overnight in Monterey. We love unique places AND rooftop bars and this place hit all the marks! The room is trendy, clean and comfortable although since we were on the first floor we missed the personality of the themed rooms. The check in staff guy was friendly and oh so helpful but I didn't catch his name. The hotel is a comfortable walk to Fisherman's Wharf and all the marina sites and across the street from a lovely park. Many thanks to Allie for her lovely welcoming hospitality on the rooftop restaurant bar. We are sorry we didn't make it to the fourth floor in time for a nightcap. (I think they are open until 10 pm) She promised us a relaxing , delicious breakfast and delivered. If you are looking for a unique European style vacation retreat, this is the place! The hotel looks nothing like the photos. Do not be deceived. This is like a motel for sure. Place smells of mold. Upon arrival to even get to the parking area you have to go down a very narrow alley which is so narrow you may scrap your side mirrors. Parking lot only holds a handful of vehicles. Upon entry it's a ghost town, no one at the front desk. Which is also like a small 4 ft area in a corner. Walked all around before not finding anyone, had to call the hotel to get someone to come out. Upon check in they just gave us the key. Went to the room and saw how it was not a hotel but more like a bedroom that smelled so bad it made my throat hurt. I asked to cancel the room immediately since there is also no air in the room. You would have to open a window. They said we were unable to. Essentially we still left bc we just couldn't stay in those conditions and got another hotel. That's how bad it was. Hotel management is not helpful. Just wants to make a buck. Didn't even apologize just said no cancellation. Def a moms and pops run down motel. read more

The hotel was rated pretty high at Hotels.com so I decided to give it a try. For starters, I can't find the parking lot for it. Turns out the entrance to the hotel parking lots is very narrow alley-like that can barely accommodate one-way driving. To make it worse, entrance and exit share the same narrow alley entrance. So I called front desk and asked what to do. He said just park on an adjacent street as it is safe enough. Uh OK. Other reviewers were right to say there's not much to look at the facade of the hotel. In fact, rather bland and kinda sketchy. Walked inside to the dimly lit Victorian style very small front reception room and the clerk checked us in. That part went smoothly. He hands us a key to the room - yes, an actual physical key not a swipe card or anything. We're on the 2nd floor so we lug our stuff up the stairs. As we walked up, the dimly lit narrow and longish hall had "the Shining" vibe. Dark, unhappy colors and did I say dimly lit? I was expecting to see those creepy twins and a flood of blood rushing toward us. Used the key to open the door to a tiny room. I mean tiny as in there hardly room to walk around the bed to the restroom. The picture of the room looked so much better than in real life. (It's kind of like Match.com false advertisements - so I'm told.) Tiny as in no space to put a desk for a laptop to check my "Warren Buffet" quality portfolio. (OK maybe not Buffet but sarcasm to illustrate a point.) It's tiny like the time we got a tiny ass 2* hotel room in Paris because we were on this "high value" visit 100-cities in 7 days European tour. It's a lot cleaner though. Next, one outlet in this tiny room by the night stand and two GFCI outlets in the bathroom. In this day and age, it is inexcusable to have only one outlet for charging gadgets and laptops. I'm not Comp USA so I didn't have any power strips with me. My bad. Oh yeah, the room is tiny. After dinner at Monterey's Fisherman's Wharf, let's check out what's playing on TV. Hey a nice listing of premium movie channels. Let's rewatch this movie on HBO. Hmm, no service, call cable provider message. OK there's Cinemax. Same helpful message. Same reply for Showtime. But hey, CBS, NBC and ABC are working. Yippee, Sunday night football was a wild one between the Chargers and Steelers. Good thing WIFI is a steady signal. Didn't try watching a movie (didn't want to push my luck with benign bandwidth expectations) but did read an article on CNBC. *sigh* Shower? Nice strong shower and hot water. At this point, I am ready to give this hotel 10 stars. I mean it exceeded all expectations as I had now abandoned any. Hot breakfast is included in the price of the room. OK, for reals ya'll, it's quality breakfast. It's tasty and a large breakfast. I recommend the soft scrambled eggs with avocado and fruits on the menu. The morning staff was really nice too. This time, I am not a facetious ass. This time only. I was ready to give this hotel 10 stars but I won't. After breakfast, we walked up "the Shining" hall, opened the door with a physical key and got our stuff from the tiny room. Walked to an adjacent street and was overjoyed to find the car still in one piece, unmolested. So, OK but memorable experience. read more

We booked a room here in July. Due to the pandemic, we had to reschedule. They gave us a one year window period to rebook. No refunds, which we were happy to work with them on. Now each time I try to rebook they say we owe them more money although the price online isn't much different. The first time I was told I booked the weekday rate and needed a room on the weekend. So we now asked for a weeknight and we owe them even more, although the new rate is almost identical to back in July. When I questioned this, no further email communication from the hotel. And they don't answer the phone. Very disappointed in customer service. We travel quite a bit and this is the only hotel which has not been cooperative during the pandemic. read more

TLDR: 3.5/5 stars. Great room, thin walls, just ok food. My boyfriend and I came to just get away for a few days. Vanessa at the front desk was super sweet and helpful. She was very patient and helped us get settled. The room was stunning, definite 10/10 on aesthetics. The in room bathtub was so cute and the bed was moderately comfortable (if you like hard beds this is for you). Some downsides: you could hear every little movement and parking was super limited. Call ahead to get a parking spot in the lot which was $10 otherwise you had to park on a side street which was a little sketch. We were able to hear what our neighbors across the hall were watching on tv and if someone stood in the hall way outside the room you could hear everything. Some of the other staff were also unfriendly, didn't really give the warmness that the staff on arrival gave. The rooftop restaurant was good but a tad bit over priced on the drinks. We both had the gourmet burger which was VERY filling and loaded with stuff. The drinks were strong but lacked the flavor we were looking for. Overall we would stay here again but maybe venture out for other food. read more

This pricy boutique hotel is far from what it says it offers. Definitely not value for money! It should deserve a negative rating instead... We booked two rooms: two persons in each room. Both are small and cramped with a walled in outside view or patio that is at the bottom of a fire/emergency escape. It's an aged building, poorly equipped and sparsely furnished. The theme in each of the rooms seems to be more of a disguise or distraction for its inadequacies and lack of upkeep rather than a sentimental recall or romantic facilitation. In one of the rooms, there is a table lamp where there is no adjacent outlet for it to be plugged in. It was connected to an extension cord which must traverse across the room to reach an outlet about eight inches above the floor. The extension cord thus hangs eight inches above the floor, creating not only an inconvenience but also a potential trip over hazard, especially at night. The bathroom fixtures are old and inefficient. The towel rack is rusted. The surface of hair dryer surface is blemished. There is no tooth brush, no tooth paste, no water glass, no toiletries! The supposedly heated bathroom floors are not heated at all! There are only five tight parking spaces behind the building accessible only through a narrow alley and to be used first come first serve. If you want to make sure you have a spot, you have to pay $10 to reserve one! This information is not discernible on their website and something that I didn't notice when booking on line and is something unexpected for a place advertised as an upscale boutique hotel! But this was the worst part: There was a tense and unhappy looking old man, whom we later found out to be the hotel owner and operator, who was watching us while we were checking in. He looked grumpy and unhappy. He was rude, very agitated, and in a condescending, humiliating and unwelcoming manner and loud tonal volume told us that he does not want to give us the reserved parking space when we were politely trying to give feedback to the front desk staff (the duty manager) that we would pay the $10 but we frankly did not read about the very limited parking spaces. He further went into a confrontational and accusatory rage, pronouncing that he cannot force us to not read all the details on their website! Upon checking their website again, it turns out that it has only a two line obscured description about their parking facilities. By the way, he was not wearing a mask all this time! The next morning at breakfast in a small dining room, this old man, again not wearing a mask and being the only server for most of the time, gave attentive services to selected guests who came in later and completely ignored us. Why such discriminatory attitudes? This is by far the worst hotel encounter and experience with a hotel owner in my over half century of travels. That this could have happened today in Monterey Bay, California, is totally unexpected and shameful! It has added a dark spot in our our travel up Highway One! read more

If zero stars were an option this hotel would have it. I can not figure out how anyone could consider this hotel a 4 star hotel. It is advertised as a unique quaint boutique hotel with amazing amenities and a harbor view. It is literally none of those things. The hotel is more of a hostel with a very uncomfortable energy. The staff is rude and unhelpful. They also leave at 10pm but don't worry they lock you in so it's safe! There is zero view, the location is miles away from anything and located in the only seedy part of town. Everything above we could have looked passed. What we can't ignore was the insane electrical issues. The wires to and from the building were literally sparking. The lights in our room flickered off and on by themselves. Our room was filthy and smelled of old wet pasta. There were light fixtures unattached, holes in the ceiling and our "harbor view" was a glass door that opened to a brick wall. We were there all of 10 minutes and immediately went to the front desk to voice our concerns. Concerns the front desk admittedly said they had heard before. We obviously could not stay there because it was dangerous. The owner did contact us via email and refused a refund stating "sorry it was not to your taste" as if a fire hazard is something that we choose to not like. Then instead of trying to work with us he sent messages mocking our experience. The owner is an disrespectful human that has no consideration or remorse about swindling people. Please do not believe the 4 star review. Look deeper and see that all the bad reviews say the same thing. Save your vacation and stay somewhere else. read more

Charming hotel with unique, individuality styled rooms. Loved the vibe and the complimentary breakfast is awesome. Chef makes perfect eggs and the surprise complimentary popovers and jam were a wonderful surprise. Location is just a street crossing from a beautiful walk on the beach. My husband and I stepped out for a night for our anniversary. Boutique Hotel are not usually our thing but 1110 Hotel turned us around on this. What a delightful charming place. Enjoyed the art decor, rooftop bar/ restaurant is a great hit but I think what stands out the most is our meal Chef Lucas's food is delicious! I had the special risotto shrimp dish yum yum! My wife and I came to the rooftop bar and restaurant on recommendation from a Marriott employee. Hands down one of the best meals we've had in California. The bartender Kyle and chef Lucas, prepare everything from scratch and all the fish and vegetables are all locally sourced. We had the salmon and the gourmet burger. Left speechless.
