We had a wonderful time staying at The Clement for our wedding anniversary for two nights this past weekend! This was our second time staying in Monterey and I had been looking forward to staying at this hotel someday. It was everything I imagined and more! The service was exceptional from the valet to the bellhop to registration and restaurant staff. We are also IHG elite members and we were given a room upgrade with a thoughtful card and gift for our anniversary. Our room was facing the ocean on Cannery Row with a balcony. It was a very nice, spacious and clean room with alot of thoughtful attention like providing refillable water bottles, robes and an amazing Nespresso machine. There was also a wine bar and snacks available for purchase. The hotel had a wonderful scent throughout and we enjoyed walking through the ocean vibes staircase featuring a jellyfish. Definitely look for that! We loved having our anniversary dinner at The C Restaurant, but that will be another well earned review on it's own. However, we did have two negative experiences, one was that we waited a bit too long for our car at the valet once and there was an accidental spa charge on our receipt when checking out. I still gave them 5 stars because they rectified it right away and even removed the valet charge for us, which was much appreciated. I would love to come back to this hotel someday to bring my parents and we hope you love it too!! read more

Our stay here was absolutely amazing! We usually stay at another nearby hotel when visiting Monterey Bay, but this time we wanted something within walking distance to the aquarium and this place delivered perfectly. No driving needed at all! We opted for valet since it's the same price as self parking, and from the moment we arrived, the service was outstanding. The valet team and front desk staff were all incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful, making check-in smooth and stress free. The hotel itself is beautiful, and the ocean views from our room were a huge highlight. The room was very clean and thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed and more. The fireplace, tub, and private deck really elevated the whole experience. It was also great having a spa and restaurant right on site, adding even more convenience and relaxation to our stay. Overall, this has been one of the best hotel experiences we've had. We visit Monterey Bay often, and we'll definitely be staying here again! read more

The valet service was fantastic! We were early arriving on a Saturday, about 1:30. We asked the valet if we could leave our car and check in when appropriate. He said we could go check at the front desk to see if our room was ready. The very nice gentleman at check in said we were all set! Service was great, room was spacious and clean. Nice ambiance with fresh orchids in the lobby and hotel rooms. Parking is flat rate whether it is valet or self park. Parking location is a couple blocks from the hotel so we elected for valet each time. They give you a card to request the car ahead of time. Good size gym, everything you would need to stay active during a short stay. Small pool for laps. Enjoyed the hot tub. read more

Amazing staff, great location for walking to shops along Canary Row and the Aquarium. The rooms are also a nice size, with comfortable beds and a view of the ocean. We loved having a small balcony to enjoy the fresh breeze in the evening. The rooms have both a tub and shower, this is a double bonus! Two thumbs up for the bathroom. We purchased some snacks before going to our room which of course were a bit overpriced like any hotel. Bonus we were upgraded during our stay since I was a Club member. Our stay at the InterContinental The Clement Monterey was absolutely incredible. From the moment we arrived, everything felt lavish, elegant, and welcoming. The hotel itself is beautiful and has such a relaxing coastal luxury vibe. Our room was amazing -- it had a cozy fireplace, a fully stocked refrigerator, a private patio deck, and a stunning ocean view. Waking up and hearing the ocean right outside was such a peaceful experience. The details in the room made it feel really upscale but still comfortable for a family. One of my favorite parts of the hotel was the indoor spa area, which felt like a little retreat inside the hotel. They also have a quiet reading room, which was such a nice touch if you just want to relax and unwind. The room service was excellent and everything about the service felt very high-end. The location is perfect. It's literally right next door to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, which made it so easy for a family visit, and Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. is right on the other side along Cannery Row. There are so many places to walk, eat, and explore nearby. Overall, it was just grand, beautiful, and the perfect place for a family vacation. Absolutely LOVED our stay at InterContinental The Clement Monterey Bay during our recent visit. This was our first time visiting Monterey Bay, and we were road tripping back down from camping and wanted to take our son to Monterey Bay Aquarium. This hotel was fantastic and met all of our needs. Valet were super friendly and helpful. Front desk staff were great. Our room wasn't quite ready, but they held our baggage and they provided some recommendations for walkable restaurants while we waited. Once we got into room, we were very pleased. Pretty spacious with a super comfy bed and large bathroom with all the amenities. Location, location, location!! It is very walkable from the hotel to many spots. But in particular, the Aquarium! It was the best hotel to use as a home base for aquarium visit. Definitely will be back!! read more

I was looking at hotels near the aquarium and I'm glad I decided to go with the Intercontinental. You can't beat the location, right in the middle of everything. We arrived on Christmas and check in was a breeze. I believe valet and self parking at the same cost so we opted for the former. Pros: Location - excellent! Rooms were clean, spacious, no smell and we had a great view of the bay Bathroom - clean, lots of amenities, doors that locked! We did have an issue with the water pressure where it was just dripping, but the hotel said they had some issues due to the rain/flooding/power outage nearby, but it was fine after calling it in. The hotel stay was pleasant enough. However, I left something behind in my room after checkout and it was not returned to me. Amazingly, the staff never found it. This is something that would be obvious if found. The housekeeping staff I called to report it was also quite defensive instead of being sympathetic. It's like they know their staff steals. Giving a 5 Star review because they absolutely deserve it. My boyfriend and I came for our anniversary on Memorial Day and stayed one night. The location is the most perfect location, although the heavy foot traffic during the holiday made it a bit of a nuisance try to get the car into the valet area, but they accommodated me and allowed me to park on the street so I can check in. The valet boys were awesome, very informative and took great care of my car. When checking in, the receptionist provided me a card with the staff signatures wishing us a happy anniversary. The ambiance in the evening, in our room with the fire place or outside of our room in the general area with firepits was just awesome and amazing. The "balcony's" were no more than a foot out from the wall and made me laugh, I didn't mind it tho, stood outside and watched the waves. Now, the cream of the crop for our overnight trip was breakfast downstairs! Not the free continental one, but the restaurant.... OH MY GOSH, Chef back there made the greatest eggs benedict and French toast I have EVER had in my life!!! read more

The last time we stayed at an InterContinental hotel we were in Belgrade, Serbia (I added Serbia for all'z yall'z unfamiliar with eastern Europe). I think we made it to our room that night but I'm not taking bets on it. A wild night. Actually surprised we made our flight the next day. Current stay was a little tamer. I was informed by the IHG group I had points expiring soon for a free night. So perfect time for a free get away. This place is in the heart of Cannery Row right on Moterey Bay. We didn't request an ocean view but ended up with one from the extension of rooms across the street from the main hotel. From the 4th floor room we had a great view. The fitness center, swimming pool and hot tub were in our building on the 2nd floor. Morning of checkout we extended our checkout time by 2 hours so we could hit the pool and still have time to get ready for the rest of the day. The room was nice with tub and shower along with fireplace and let's not forget the mini bar. Speaking of the mini bar. Totaly adequate. Spirits, beer, champs, wine, soft drinks and goodies. My partner is all over the gummie bears like a 12 year old. Nice hotel restaurant and bar ( see C Restaurant and Bar review). Check in was easy and staff was nice. Prices flucuate greatly depending on day of the week and season. We were locked in to this weekend because of time off. I had no idea this place existed until we tried it for two nights . It is a stone throw from the aquarium and it's like a cute quaint area to walk with shops and restaurants on this street. This is the only place we stay in Monterey (if we aren't staying w family lol) - it's so close to everything. Valet the car and just walk all over. Staff is always really helpful and friendly. Rooms are well appointed and I use that fireplace non stop. The courtyard can get loud at night. Some nights they'd have groups down by the fire pit thing, partying it up lol. We come fr a big city and don't at all mind falling asleep to the sound of the ocean and people having a good time. The breeze fr the doors is the best, but we like to sleep cold lol. The fireplace keeps the room cozy and warm in the day. I like intercontinental hotels overall, but this location is my favorite. We stay about 2 weeks a year. The only things I think they could improve on is the gym. It's not the best lol. Also, we've gone w friends who got rooms across the street in that other building. I personally only stay and recommend the main building on the water. Also, the pools not really a pool lol and that's totally fine bc it's never warm enough in Monterey for my kids to swim anyway. One trip, we booked the full oceanfront room and we didn't care for it as much as the courtyard view, bc at night it's just all blackness lol. We planned an overnight stop on a road trip here. We really stopped here just to see the aquarium. The location of the intercontinental is right in the middle of the hustle and bustle. Valet or self park is $45/day. If you have an ev to charge you will have to valet. But that was worth it to us to charge. Room was very nice and felt new. Nespresso machine in the room made a decent cuppa. Very close to the aquarium. Highly recommend a walk out to lovers cove. read more

We always enjoy our stays here. The room is cozy and full of amenities, yes, even a Nespresso coffee maker. The staff is super friendly and extremely accommodating for anything you need. I have always loved the location of this hotel and we have stayed here many times being IHG reward members however we will likely be staying somewhere else moving forward. Our last stay here we noticed several items missing from the mini bar as soon as we checked into the room. I immediately called front desk, they sent someone out to confirm, and they said it was noted on our account. I even took a photo because I had a feeling it would be an issue. Upon checkout I again reminded them of the mini bar issue and confirmed we did not use any of the mini bar items. Low and behold when I checked my credit card charges a couple days later I saw a charge for $70. Called the hotel to inquire and they stated it was mini bar items and nothing had been noted on my account. I had to call the hotel and explain this again but the charges were eventually refunded. Also the king size mattress was horribly uncomfortable with a large hump in the middle. The stand up shower is very small and water pressure is inconsistent. I do love the ocean views and the location but will be looking for another hotel in the future. If you stay here, make sure to check your mini bar upon arrival and ask them to refill any missing items immediately. read more

We arrived on Monday, March 30th and checked in about 4pm. This is usually our favorite hotel, but after what happened, we will never stay here again. My husband and I left our room to go eat at the C-bar which is in this hotel. My husband said he thought it was closed because no one was there. So, I went to the front desk to check. I approached a young man by the name of Matt if the restaurant was open and he stated it was, but that I needed to go back outside because of the fire alarm. The way he spoke to me was like I was 5 years old. I explained to him that I never heard a fire alarm and that I was never outside but in my room. At that same time, everyone was coming back in and I just left. My husband asked what happened and I told him what Matt said to me. My husband became very upset that he went to the front desk and spoke to the assistant manager Phil. My husband explained what happened, but he was very condescending. I'm not sure if Matt and him are buddies because he seemed like he didn't want to deal with us so we left. We were ready to put everything behind us and go get something to eat. As we walked outside, we ran right into Matt from valet. My husband said are you Matt? He said yes. My husband said to him its not right how you talked to my wife. Matt acted like he didn't do anything and I just pulled husband to just go and eat. A few minutes after leaving, we see a black truck pass us and stops at a stop sign in front of us. A car on the other side of street flashes his lights to go, but he doesn't go. He waits until we reach the stop sign and rolls down his windows and begins yelling at us and then speeds off. I did take a picture of the truck. He let us know he was from valet and I assume he was Matt's friend coming to intimidate us. We immediately went back to the hotel to speak to Phil who is still talking down to us and acts like he didn't care. My husband told him he just wants to go home and if he can just refund the room. At first he was acting like he wasn't going to do it, but then my husband asked again and Phil reluctantly said he would. During the whole time he never apologized to us for what happened until the very end when we were waiting for our car. In all my times of staying at any hotel, I have never been treated so badly. This was our last time. Next time we can come to Monterey we will be staying at Monterey Plaza Hotel! read more

This was my first time staying on Cannery Row, and my concern was that I would hear too much noise or that the hotel would rest on the laurels of its location and blow off everything else. This was not the case. The staff was remarkably professional and warm from the beginning to the end. My check-in was quick and efficient, and my room was very clean and comfortable. I also liked the small things that meant a lot: no plastic cups, water bottles for refilling, and an obvious interest in conservation. Our event was smooth the whole way through, and the staff were responsive. The food was good--definitely a step above the usual buffet fare--and offered many options for a wide array of dietary needs. And you can't beat the view we had while overlooking the Bay. Also a bonus: going out the back door and right to the walking trail. read more

We had been given a 1pm late checkout and we had placed the "do not disturb" privacy card on our door handle. The cleaning staff woke us up with knocks on our door at 10am. Even after telling them that we had a late check out, they disturbed us FOUR TIMES in total: 10am, 11am, 11:30am and 12pm. Not only that but the cleaning staff actually walked into our room TWICE, even with the privacy do not disturb sign on the door. So uncalled for. For the price of the room I wouldn't think I would go through what I went through this past weekend.. I stayed in 383.. Around 830 ish I get a Knock on my door from the guest from below us.. Asked us politely if we can keep it down with the banging.. I have a 1.5 year old that was jumpin so I totally understood what she said and i apologized and said it won't happen again.. I put my daughter to sleep then around 915 ish I get a call asking if I hear any thumping or any loud sound and I said "no". I couldn't hear anything due to the tv on.. once I turned off our tv I hear lound banging sounds and I called the front desk to let them know now I hear something after I turned off the tv.. they told me they "they are patrolling the vicinity and we will get to the bottom of this".. the banging went on all night every 3 minutes or so. We pretty much didn't get any sleep.. I went down around 7 am to talk to the front desk regarding the situation and they had no clue what I was talking about saying there wasn't any notes referring to this incident.. I told them I want to talk to the manager when he came in.. they said you will get a call today!!!! I didn't get a call so I went back to talk to the manager was ( Matt K.) the manager came out and I spoke to him Regarding the incident.. I Felt discriminated and offended!!! He pretty much told me the noises were coming out of my room and I was making the commotion.. Matt told me the people from downstairs just walkout because of all the noises coming out from our room !!! But I never got a call or warning regarding noises....he pretty was blaming me that we were making the noise!!! As a manager he was suppose to listen to what I had to say and acknowledge it!! Not turn it around on me and blame me!!!! It was super unprofessional and I felt discriminated!!!! I know this was all bullshit that we were the noisy people because I spoke to Jeff the person patrolling the vicinity that night!!! He clearly told me he even went to our room to check if there was any noise in our room and he said no noise!!!! No matter how we're dressed or what color our skin is, no one should feel how I felt that day when he blamed me... come to find out Jeff said the loud banging noise was coming from the elevators which made sense cuz we're right next to it..Upper Management has to do better and make your guest feel more welcome and not feeling any discrimination towards your colored guest!!! That's how I really felt!!!!!!! Guest knocking on my door saying quiet down and etc shouldn't even get to that... All this could of got solved with communication!!! One positive note you guys have is from your valet( Ricardo ) to all the employees that work for Matt was super welcoming and helpful... Ricardo seen my face in the morning walking out with no sleep and he made it better for me!!! He made me feel welcomed and got me a fresh water bottle and got my car and was just super apologetic regarding the noises and people knocking on my door and etc....I felt out of place and not wanted!!!! We had a good time at Intercontinental. The location of the hotel is its biggest selling point, it's on cannery row and less than a 5 minute walk from the aquarium. We arrived around 5pm and valeted our car. Valet it 40 dollars per day. Check in was easy. Staff were efficient but not particularly pleasant or friendly. Room is clean and I was surprised with how big the balcony is! We didn't pick a room with a view of the water though. Bathroom is modern and clean. Bed is comfy but the pillows are way too soft with no neck support. There's a nespresso in the room which I def utilized. There's a fitness center and a pool. The pool is tiny! My fiancée is a big man and he found it hilarious that he can reach the width of the pool with his arms stretched out. Still relaxing none the less. Jacuzzi fits about 5 people. They graciously let us have a late check out after signing up to be an IGH rewards member. The morning staff the morning of check out were a lot nicer than the staff the day prior. Will probably keep this our main hotel anytime we visit Monterey. read more

We stayed two weeknights in early July. Valet drop off and check in was a breeze and staff was friendly. The hotel is positioned as luxury, however that is a bit of an overstatement. While the rooms are decently sized and the beds are comfortable, there's nothing over-the-top about amenities or level of service. The walls are thin and you hear everything from your neighbors. I did appreciate the variety of machines in the gym along with the pool and hot tub. The location is right next door to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, so keep in mind you're in the center of a very crowded tourist spot. Overall, a fine hotel and if you're visiting specifically for the aquarium, you can't beat the location. read more

Well first of all they overcharged me, And when I called to get my bill emailed to me they acted like they didn't care. Said they would email it to me and then hung up on me. They never sent me the email so then I contacted IG hotels or whatever it's called, they called the hotel directly found out my bill was incorrect, supposedly they're going to credit my account and send me an email. Still never got the email nor did I get the credit. The hotel is way overpriced I get the location is supposed to be fabulous but it's not. The hotel room was clean but totally not worth the $400 I paid for one night. Valet parking is $45 plus tax for one night. Self parking same thing. Just an overpriced hotel on cannery row. The restaurant was basic, I paid $6 for tea... Some of the people working here also arrogant and look down their nose at you. Very dissatisfied with my overpriced stay, the only thing nice was the valet guys were pretty cool. They work very hard. Totally not worth $400 for one night for a basic room. read more

An amazing experience, exactly what I expect from a hotel. Drove up, and immediately greeted with people opening my doors for me, and my luggage being put on the cart, taken to my room. Quick and easy check out/check in process. Very nice room with a large bathroom, and amenities galore. All in the heart of Monterey by the aquarium! I got the regular two queen room, and it was definitely standard, but does have a nice bathroom, fireplace, and view of the areas. For $400 for my one night stay, I would say definitely worth it! This trip was out first year wedding anniversary and 13 years together with my amazing husband . As much as I absolutely LOVED going to Monterey for the first time ever I didn't love some of the issues that came about after staying . It was fun but there will still let downs I cannot get past . PARKING : vallet parking was provided however , the round about was tightly packed and cluttered , and with foot traffic and the hustle and bussle of everyone sight seeing it was overwhelming. After getting out and the car was gone I realized I left my sweater in the car and I asked to run to where my car was parked however , they don't allow that ... it's almost 2 blocks away and it also takes more than 15 min to retrieve your car each time , it also feels like a burden so we tried not to ask for our car too much and in turn silently suffered. It was a pain in the butt. FOOD : they have an amazing restaurant over looking the ocean and walk ways throughout the back of the hotel that make for sitting inside in the heat so relaxing with such a good vibe . All the staff were amazing , and for a free breakfast it wasn't half bad( my husband loved the parfait ) but for the following day we opted to get free points instead of breakfast . ROOM: we usually use points for intercontinental hotels about 3 times a year but as far as actual pricing goes I'm not sure if it's a bang for your buck but I will tell you the amount of points needed to stay are not a ridiculous amount so it is a value ! NOTE WORTHY PROBLEMS : I'm a cigarette smoker , however not only did I step outside every single time and sit on the back patio by the fire , also asking staff where the best place to smoke is , and continuing to make frequent trips outside all day considering how beautiful it was . The problem is .... When we went for dinner that night I heard someone announce on the radio that someone was smoking on our floor , they were booted out of the hotel that night , and then next day after we left they claim that the maid found my empty pack of smokes and says it smells like smoke .... (Keeping my deposit ) i was blamed for the previous person based on her cleaning my floor and probably smelling smoke from the other room , seeing my empty pack and assuming it was me . I have never and will never smoke in or around my room ever . And it's disheartening that's there's no way to proove anything . so even if you do all the right things I would just suggest to only bring vapes to this hotel and never smoke a cigarette even outside .
