Ii made reservations and explained I was handicapped. The room was considered a handicapped room the bed was so high I could barely get in it, when I did I fell out twice. I called the front desk for help three times each time I was told in a minute. Finally I had to call the fire department. I kept falling out so the fire department came twice. I spoke to the manager named Lisa and I told her the bed was not in compliance with ADA. She was rude and since we had four nights reserved she asked us to leave. Her words were "We don't want you here". She also said "We don't want the fire department here". I had explained the situation to AMX for a refund. I have never been treated so rudely at a hotel. Again her name is Lisa. I will use every means on the internet to tell my story. ADA will also be contacted. read more

For every other hotel in the downtown area, this one definitely takes the cake. It's super clean, awesome staff, great atmosphere, and the bar there is partially outside and has great deals for really tasty and effective drinks, and it's centered about maybe a block from everything in downtown, so comparing it to the Grove Hotel is like comparing Heaven to Limbo. Stay here, not the Grove, it's even cheaper and does its job as a hotel better! read more

I think this is an average hotel in a great location. I was hoping for a little more. We stayed in a king room which is decent sized but it just smells like an old hotel room. The walls are very thin and even regular conversation is audible. They now allow pets which is great for pet owners but I woke up at 1:00 am to a large dog barking very close by. For a good nights rest I would opt for one of the newer hotels downtown. read more

I was very excited to attend Bronco Day at Boise State with my son. We checked in early on Friday and all was good. On Sunday night, with an early morning check out, I decided to go to bed early. At about 9:30ish I heard a knock, but did not initially get up, thinking it was a door next to ours. A couple minutes later I heard another knock. I got up, out of a sleep to talk to a hotel worker, asking why I was in the room. I explain our reservation and check in. I did have difficulty falling back to sleep and did not mind the mistake. At 12:30ish there was another, much louder knock on the door, it definitely woke me out of a deep sleep. I went to the door to find two hotel staff (security) asking me questions. I explained a second time, not sure what to think or do. This time I did not fall back to sleep. It was truly an awful night of rest, no rest. I did ask what happened in the morning, and understood the mistake, but chose to not say anything when I was upset. I wrote the hotel on Email and Chat, to never receive a communication back. Even though I did like the location of the hotel and the room, there are pieces that are very lacking in customer service. This is my first ever Yelp complaint and was my first written complaint to the Hotel. Very disappointed. read more

I have a favorite hotel in this town that isn't hotel 43, but this is a close second. The boutique room was very comfortable, clean, and cozy. I have spent many nights in boutique hotel rooms in Denver, L.A, San Diego, Chicago and Minneapolis. I am not sure that anything in Boise is trying to compete with the "big guy". It's not what you are going to find in LA because it's no LA! Thank God! Take it for what it is, a nice cute place to lay your head. read more

I stayed at Hotel 43 for 5 days for a business trip and had an absolutely wonderful experience. Upon checking in, I was told I had a complimentary upgrade to a suite with 2 bathrooms, whirlpool and microwave! It was a great room, very clean and super quiet. Downtown Boise is great and Hotel 43 is within walking distance of several great dining options and The Grove. The front desk was very friendly and housekeeping did a great job each night. I loved the chocolate on my pillows each night! Will definitely stay again on my next visit! read more

Okay the bed is incredible! I forgot the name of the restaurant cause I'm having a glass of wine right now and the name escapes me. But I do remember the bed! Simple hotel. Coffee bar in the tiny lobby. Adjacent to a restaurant that had - hands down the best martini. And it was the best martini because it had the best blue cheese stuffed olives. I spent almost a week at Hotel 43 for business. The staff is nice, the rooms have very comfortable beds and overall the hotel is very welcoming. They provide both valet and self-park services ($12 per night, regardless of which option you choose) as well as room service from Chandlers. They do not offer a complimentary breakfast, but there are Keurig's in the rooms. My only real complaint is that the rooms do not have a mini fridge or microwave. If you want to have the hotel bring up a mini fridge, they charge $20. Not having a mini fridge in the room seems to be a more common theme in a lot of hotels, but I have never run into an extra charge associated with having one brought up. They are undergoing renovation right now, but I wouldn't have noticed had the signs not been posted on the elevator doors. read more

I stayed here for two nights in February for a wedding. This is a boutique-style hotel - but was just as nice as other upper scale places I've stayed. The rooms are not huge, but definitely cozy and nicely decorated. I enjoyed the bath robes and clean bathroom. The bed was super comfy, although massively over run with pillows. The service was really nice. We were greeted with complimentary water at check-in and great recommendations for food. We had one minor issue one morning when room service was knocking on our door early in the morning (despite having the "do not disturb" sign on the door). I mentioned it to the front desk (as I was quite sick this weekend and just wanted to make sure it didn't happen again), and they were very apologetic. In fact, upon returning from some sightseeing around town, we were greeted with a bag of goodies filled with granola bars, candy, waters, etc. and a card saying how sorry they were for the inconvenience. I would say that's pretty great customer service and showed they cared. We were fortunate to have a room with only one side of our room with a shared wall to another guest room. The walls are super thin - and it's very easy to hear other's conversation. And the noise carries VERY easily down the halls. If noise is an issue - bring ear plugs! The free shuttle to/from the airport was super convenient and easy to schedule. And the location of the hotel overall was very convenient to the loads of restaurants, bars, and shops in the downtown area. I'd definitely stay here again. read more

I travel quite a bit, and stay in hotels all over the world. This hotel was one of the biggest disappointments I have ever encountered. The hotel is just a 60's Holiday Inn with a recent remodel. They basically put some lipstick and rouge on an old dog. The rooms are very small and dark. The bathroom is tiny. There is no mini fridge, or microwave. At $170-$229 a night these are to be expected. I think that $89 would be an appropriate rate for what I received. The breakfast cafe that is in the lobby has terrible food. Seriously, the free continental breakfast that they serve at Best Western is better than what I was served. I think I paid $30 for my breakfast. To cap it all off, the AC/Fan in my room stopped working in the middle of the night on my last night. This was in the middle of the summer in 90 degree heat. I come to Boise two to three times a year. I won't be back. read more

Hotel 43 is in a great location in downtown Boise & close to tons of restaurants, stores, live entertainment, etc. Our squadron spent 3 weeks in Mountain Home on detachment and I found Boise to be a nice getaway from the Air Force base. However, Hotel 43 leaves a bit to be desired. Cons you ask? - The bathroom is comically small. Uncomfortably small. Claustrophobic small. Don't watch Psycho before staying here small. - The wifi is slow, but I pretty much expect that everywhere I go. Boise itself provides a nice cell network to tether off of if you need to get some serious work done; let's be honest, you're just surfing Facebook on your smartphone anyway, aren't you? - The view leaves a bit to be desired, but I don't expect much of a "view" in Idaho. Sorry locals! - Refrigerator. There ISN'T ONE! Biggest "WTF" of my trip there. Being there for 3 weeks, it would've been nice to stock up on some light groceries and food to save from having to eat out every single night. - No gym. OK, wait... yes... a treadmill and elliptical or two. I think I spied some 15lb dumbbells off in a corner. Poor showing if you're actually trying to get a workout on the road. *They do, however, offer passes to the local YMCA a mile or so away, so that's a mild bit of redemption. Pros? Great location, nice staff, cool little bar (Chandler's) downstairs with a decent steakhouse. Good like Morton's or Ruth's Chris, but not /amazing/ ... for the $40-$50 range though, it's a great meal. Overall, it's a decent spot to crash, but when I saw the room rate for the room I was in, I'd say spend money elsewhere. read more

Underwhelmed. Looks like a new chain hotel...nothing special and certainly not worth $399+tax. Check in was efficient. We were offered a complimentary bottle of Aquafina water. Valet a car for $15/day. Rate is the same whether or not you valet or self-park. Typical hotel insulation so you can hear neighbors, doors opening and closing and some street noise. No bellhops, tiny lobby, standard bathroom (no tub)...luxury? I just don't see it. Maybe I wouldn't feel ripped off if they had delivered on "luxury" or if it was the standard price ($199) for a standard product. Oversold but under-delivered. read more

This is about the service at the café. I walked over this morning for a cup of coffee, I stood there waiting, the guy that was working valet he was texting and a man in a suit was staring out the window. Finally after a couple minutes 3 women come walking out and I was served. I thought it was odd that all 3 of the women were in the back, no one at the counter helping. I got my coffee and the guy in the suit ordered coffee too, no idea if he was waiting for a while....just different. Seems like they could provide better service in the café area, I think they could definitely make more money if they paid better attention to the coffee front counter. read more

Absolutely wonderful stay. The lobby atmosphere was serene and pleasurable. The lobby staff, Kyle and Hunter, were so sweet and helpful, and very personable as well. They were knowledgeable about Boise and things we were able to do there. I came through Hotel 43 with my husband on our way to Montana for a family wedding. In the midst of all the chaos, Hotel 43 served as a calm retreat. We will definitely be staying here again. read more

I stayed here recently while visiting Boise for the first time for a wedding. I definiely feel some strong pros and cons... Pros: -Chandler's. This place was very yummy, and I liked that they supplied the room service, as well. -The bed is super comfortable. I slept so well! -Valet service. Although we had to pay $10/night for parking, valet was included in this price (except for tip, of course). -Free wifi. Although slow, I really appreciated this. Cons: -The room and bathroom are really, really dark. There are a couple of lamps in the room, but there really needs to be additional lighting. I could not see the contents of my suitcase in the closet, and it was really dark in the shower. I couldn't get to a mirror with decent lighting. -Teeny, tiny room and bathroom. Really tough to manevour for even one person. -I feel horrible noting this, but the maid had unbearable and offensive body odor. On each of the three days we were here, after she cleaned the room we had to open the window and stand near it for awhile, and turn on the air conditioning in an attempt to ventilate the room. Extremely strong. -No fridge. -Noise and picture on the TV are not synced. One neutral point that I feel I should note. All pillows and comforter are feather, which caused allergy problems for my fiance. However, the staff was really nice when I called to request alternate pillows. We probably would not stay here again. read more

Visiting Boise for the first time, Hotel 43's website gave me hope that this hotel was what I love in other cities--small, boutique, nice service, nice rooms with a comfy bed. At $170 a night, it felt a little high for this city compared to my other travels, but I figured I'd give it a chance. Going strictly by Yelp's rating explanation of two stars-- "Meh. I've experienced better" is about how I feel about the experience. If it had been $125 it would have been about right. The bads first: My first thought was it felt like a re-modeled Holiday Inn with designers who were trying for hip attitude. It sadly missed the mark, feeling dark and a bit cheap--a caricacture of the boutique hotel type. Upon checking in and heading to my room, the walk down the hall was creepy...really dark hallways that felt like you're in a bad horror movie and about to get axed, odd elevator vestibules with no signage. When I got to my room, my lovely view of the parking lot was complemented by a pretty cramped room with one of the worst bathrooms I've seen at this level of hotel. I had a hard time putting on makeup, the lighting was so bad and the inside toilet shower area felt like the Hampton Inns I've stayed at when I'm on a budget. Room service had odd times and you didn't have a choice with your car, parking with the valet and waiting for him to drive around was the only option, although at $10 a night, not too crazy. The goods: the restaurant was very nice and good quality but didn't open until 4 PM and only with snacks. I only had a drink there but it looks promising. The bed was extremeley comfortable and I liked the desk and television. Also, free wi-fi was great, as always. A nice touch was the free admission to the local museum. Again, at a lower price point, I wouldn't be so picky but c'mon....this place just didn't cut it. When they answer the phone and say "How can I inspire you?" I would now answer back, "with a better experience for the price." read more

The trendy decor gives the feeling they are just trying too hard - right down to the teddy bear they try to sell you! Perfect location. In the heart of downtown and I must say the downtown nightlife is great, the place is so lively! wasn't expecting that. It was so good, that we extended our stay by one day - initially it was just supposed to have been an over night stop. The hotel was nice too, very friendly staff, great restaurant. I enjoyed my stay at Hotel 43. It is conveniently located downtown and not far from the airport. The rooms are comfortable with free wifi and Showtime. The hotel has a popular restaurant attached with great tasting food. Fitness center is weak with only 1 tread mill, 2 ellipticals and some free weights but you can get a pass to a real gym. We are locals and just wanted a night away together. We picked Hotel43 because it was close to the restaurant & other shopping we wanted to do while we were there. We got a suite and were pleased with the quality of room when we first came in. The couch was rock hard, though, and the pillows on the bed were as well. The jetted tub had weird gray flakes that came shooting out when we turned the jets on & when I went to use the hair dryer the next morning I was utterly disgusted! It was covered in someone else's hair as well as left over gel or hairspray. The button also fell off when I turned the dumb thing on! The front desk staff were pleasant to deal with and the check-in/check-out process was very easy & simple. I just think that if I'm going to spend $320 for a room for one night I'd get a blow dryer that worked, pillows that were soft & clean jets in the tub. We probably won't return. read more

I have only yelped 1 or 2 times in my life but I had to due to the professionalism of this hotel! Hotel 43 is the best! We had previously checked into another hotel around the corner and it was NOT suitable... Funny story is that I had booked with Hotel 43 but had cancelled due to the other hotel having a pool for my kids. I thought after a long day int he car that they would need some swimming to get "it"out of them. Needless to say I walked over to the Hotel 43 to see if we could still get 2 connecting rooms, YES they did! The front desk. AMANDA and 2 others wish I had gotten their names, were so amazing and so funny and concerned that they let me look at the the room before to make sure it was CLEAN and acceptable! It was very very clean the carpet was fresh and clean, the sheet were SOFT and CLEAN. They room was very very sunny and bright. It was all up to date! it did NOT have a "funky smell" to it. Again it was the front desk staff that knew it was a 90 degree day, they handed over some water as I checked in. I then called my husband at the other hotel to pick up and move over here! My 3 year old was met with a stuffed animal form the front desk and my husband and I were given a bottle of wine and 2 glasses! I was beyond impressed after being frazzled about the other hotel's cleanliness that that bottle of wine was greatly appreciated. Also we had 4 very expensive mountain bikes on the back of our car, the valet Kenny and Asa helped bring them in and store them for us because we can not park in the covered parking because of the roof has a ski rack and would not fit. They were more than helpful to my husband! For dinner with the kids we walked over to the "wing place" that the from desk again told us to go to and it was so perfect, they knew exactly where we needed to go for dinner. I was disappointed in our experience with Hotel 43. My husband and I were visiting family in Boise and left the kids with the grandparents for a spur of the moment night downtown. This is a very rare thing for us since we do not have family where we live. We had ridden borrowed bikes downtown after a long, hot day of working on the rental we own in Boise. Decided to see if they had rooms available. They had two. My husband started negotiating and they informed him that they did not negotiate. No problem. Plenty of places don't. He came out to talk to me and went back in to book the room. Asked if they wanted him to book it through them or Expedia for $20 less. She said the room wasn't available. He asked again, "this room is unavailable? It says it's available online. Who booked it?" She mumbled, faltered and repeated that it wasn't available. He then booked that room through Expedia and checked in. The bathroom fan in our "hypoallergenic room" was caked in dust, the fitted sheet slid off the mattress all night, and the plug for the sink was broken. All of those I would normally ignore but when you pay $250 for the only real date night you will have all year, you're treated poorly at the front desk, and your room is labeled "pure hypoallergenic" expectations are high. Our very first date was at Chandlers, years ago and I got ready for our wedding at this hotel. I guess this time we since we did not look like we belonged, that is how we were treated. read more

A Nicely remodeled hotel in the heart of downtown Boise. Walking distance to the Saturday Market, and all of the must eat spots in downtown. Generously sized room, modern accoutrements and a very comfortable bed. The staff was VERY friendly and accommodating of my many questions. The small gym provided on site was a bit too small so I opted to utilize the complimentary day pass at the YMCA a few blocks up the street. One of the nicer benefits of Hotel 43 is that it is attached to Chandler's Steak House, where we commenced on dining for dinner every night of my stay. Hotel 43 will be my overnight destination anytime I'm in Boise. read more

this hotel sucks with a capital s. my standards are low, so if it does not meet my standards it is really bad. the gym has a 30 year old tread mill that creaks, no water in gym, restaurant overpriced, staff clueless about ymca passes, basically lied. tv not even the basic channels work, missed the view the whole week, crappy cable channels, no response from staff regarding service. the concierge was the only thing decent about this place and it is in walking distance to the grove hotel and the hampton inn where everything is offered including an updated gym!! read more

Not very impressed, my husband and I stayed for a few nights visiting some friends in the area, the staff in the mid afternoon very friendly and helpful. Wished I can say the same for the later staff. The women behind the next was more interested texting on her cell phone than helping, I am all about customer service and customers should come first and this is not what I felt when I was there. This is a large hotel well located in ID. The lobby is spacious, the front desk staff welcoming. The rooms are large comfortable with cheery decor, not to my tastes but totally acceptable. Quiet, no road noise, some AC noise but not over powering. Bathroom larger than most, with separate shower and bath. Easy to use TV controls. So, you might say, where is the issue? Well, everything feels as if it has been value engineered to death: examples, they must have known I was traveling alone, as there was only one of each towel. And those towels were not fluffy. The breakfast room was very basic, friendly staff but the meals had zero imagination, Again, they were perfectly served, but this is not a Denny's and the plate could have been a substitute. Nice pool, plenty of towels, but no drink service. Ditto the lobby, no one serving drinks or welcoming you. so a 'nice' hotel, but if you are looking for something a little bit more than the ordinary, not here. read more
