For the price ($119 on weekends) this place is a gem. It has such a fresh clean feeling when you just walk thru the doors and smell the scented candles burning. The room was wonderful with free bottle water and the bed was so comfy. Make sure you ask for a room in the back. The street is noisy but that is the case on such a busy street. This hotel is hip! The lobby reminds me of a small version of the Clift Hotel in San Francisco. Its oakie-modern and very fashionable. The rooms remind me of the W Hotel, with lots of amenities. I call to make reservation for two nights for business and under government rates and the personal at desk of this morning told me that they only can do for 3 nights. So, my question to the manager or ower of this hotel. Don't you want our business even if only staying two night or even one. This not very good impression on future customers. Other people may have given higher rating but now think what a customer can when HAVEN'T stay there yet. read more

Staff was very welcoming, room was clean, not as big as expected, but with all necessities (fridge and hairdryer included). Unfortunately there was no hot water disposable the 2nd morning of our stay, which was inconvenient (although staff communicated very well with a voice mail and a letter & gave people the opportunity to shower in another hotel). Cute place, great location and wonderful staff! We got back to our room late and starving after a concert at the Shoreline Ampitheater. No restaurants or even drive thrus were open. We called the front desk to inquire about room service. Dorian told us it was not currently available but kindly asked what we were looking for and said he would see what he could do. Twenty minutes later a turkey sandwich and some chips were delivered to our room. The sandwich was delicious and the service was truly above and beyond! I highly recommend Hotel Avante! read more

I don't really understand the hype of this hotel. I stayed here for two nights and it was alright. The exterior isn't particularly nice, especially for such an expensive rate. The room was okay. The bathroom was nice but the room felt a little stuffy. On top of that, there wasn't central air. Maybe it's a NoCal thing but I didn't really like that. The staff was very nice which was comforting. Everyone that I interacted with was amazing, which I really appreciated. Don't order room service, especially the ice cream sandwich. It sounds really gourmet on the menu but it's just a prepackaged ice cream sandwich. Overall, I don't recommend it because it's mediocre for such an expensive price tag. read more

I have been a long time fan of the Joie de Vivre hotel chain but unfortunately my last 2 experiences at JDV hotels have been very poor, this hotel included. The exterior of the hotel looks like a Holiday Inn, the front desk people were not helpful nor looked like they wanted to be there, and the walls were paper thin which meant every little sound woke us up. I am beginning to feel like JDV quality is going down the tubes except for Hotel Vitale in SF. read more

I love modern boutique style hotels. The lobby was cool, the elevators were cool, and the room was even cooler. Comfortable bed, spacious, awesome bathroom, clean, and lots of detail and character. Hands down the best hotel in the southern Silicon Valley area. And that is at any price! I prefer it to the Palo Alto FourSeasons! I'm here every time I need to meet my coworkers in Mountain View. On work nights, there is a 6:30-7:30pm wine and cheese (and local craft beer) in the lobby which is great for meeting others you would never meet. The staff bends over backwards to ensure your stay is beyond expectations, from the wine in my room when I check in to the always hot and fresh breakfast (seriously the best oatmeal on earth!) to the free shuttle service pickup and dropoff at nearby companies. read more

Although I've stayed at many hotels with far more amenities and glitz, this may be my favorite place to stay on business period. It's an excellent value, has fun rooms (rubick's cubes in the desks!), interesting decor, and a nice fitness center. The breakfast--advertised as "deluxe continental" but actually a full buffet with french toast, eggs, sausage, rice and kimchee--is top notch and the fitness center is well equipped. We were looking for a place to stay that was central to the event we were attending and the hotel surprised us in every way! The staff was friendly, helpful and courteous. The rooms were clean, quiet, and loaded with thoughtful amenities. We did have a problem w/our shower, but didn't realize it until after 11pm. We called the front desk and the manager came up almost immediately, which was a big deal considering the time! She did a quick survey, and then told us it was not going to be as easy a fix as they had hoped and offered the room next door as an option. The free breakfast was a much bigger spread than we had expected. The choices were plentiful and yummy. We even took advantage of the hot tub outside. It was a nice way to top off our morning and start our weekend! :-) read more

Suprisingly this is a very nice hotel in the heart of Mountain View. The hotel rooms are very spacious, well decorated, well appointed and most importantly very clean. My stay on a Sunday night featured a happy hour which is a really good opportunity to network with people. The hotel has free wifi access, as well as free access to a PC with internet access so you can still keep in touch with your family and friends. The breakfast room may be a little small and pokey, but don't let this turn you off, because the breakfast is delightful. I'd stay here again - so that's my recommendation to you. read more

My home away from home for about 20 days of the year. I love the Avante. I hate Mountain View, but the Avante is a great place to stay. I wish it had a bar, but other than that, it's a great place to stay. Awesome, friendly staff, funky (in a good way) decor, easy parking, spacious rooms, good TV situation, nice bathrooms, etc. A nice touch that they seem to have added recently is that before you arrive (every day) they turn on some dim lights and classical music in your room. Makes it an awesome place to retreat to after a long day/flight/whatever. read more

Judging from the outside of the building you would never think this hotel is sleek, modern and chill.. I booked an Executive King room for Saturday. The discounted rate was awesome for what you get. Pros: - Room was really clean. Bathrooms were spotless. -Decor and furniture in the room was sleek, modern and very functional. -Complimentary slippers were really nice. -Bathrobes you can use while you're there. -Free bottle of Avante water -Bottle of Sparking water, Spring Water or wine if you're a Joy of Life member -Lather products in the bathroom -Crest toothpaste, cotton balls and Q-tips. -Nice plush towels. -Flat screen LCD TV with HD on most channels. -Breakfast included. ( A step up from Hampton Inn's breakfast) -Turn down service was nice. They maid turned on classical music, dimmed the lights and left us some chocolate treats along with an additional bottle of water. Minor cons: -If you were put in an adjoining room like ours and have other people partying next door, it will get loud. I had to request for another room at 8:30 pm. Not really the hotel's fault but I guess the doors are thin. -AC was a bit loud but not too bad. -Bed was kind of hurting my back in the AM. Maybe I'm a bit spoiled since I have a tempurpedic at home? -Breakfast room is small and tight. We found a table ok since we came in an hour before breakfast ended but had trouble navigating to get our food since space is limited. -The internet didn't work. Wired and Wireless. I had to call the third party tech support. They got the wired working but after 30 minutes they couldn't get the wireless working. After hanging up and another 15 minutes, I got the wireless working on my own. The front desk found out about my internet issues and called up to apologize. They said they were going to send someone in but luckily I got it working. -HBO signal kept cutting in and out throughout the whole night. Despite the minor issues that were sort of not the hotel's fault, I do recommend this hotel. It's a bit hard to find since it's tucked away with some other apartment buildings but a nice place. I'm a fan of JDV properties now. read more

Our room had board games and a fridge which was cool. Very quiet! Blankets were so comfy and pillows were even better... the actual bed not so much but I didn't mind. I wasn't sure about this place after reading mixed reviews. I was even more concerned after having to sign a disclaimer that threatened they would call the police if activity in my room became too disruptive. I'm glad to say that this did not seem to be an issue for anyone at the hotel the night we stayed. We left before breakfast and did not use any of the amenities beyond the tea bar, but we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider this a well above 3-star hotel. read more

Great Hotel. We really liked the decor which is classy, a throwback to the 50s (think Mad Men). Artifacts from the 50s scattered everywhere.. an old typewriter here, a rubber stamp there. Very good service, great pool area with a heated pool. Nice towels inside and good quality soaps/creams. It may not look like much from the outside but it is a cozy place and ideal for those who are tired of the corporate look and feel of the Mariotts and Hiltons. It is a small place which is great because you don't have a long walk from the car. It does have a slight smell of an old hotel at times, but nothing inside the room. Very good free breakfast in the morning. This hotel was great value for the money and is highly recommended for the price we paid of 79 a night through a deal. As this price it is an absolute 5 stars. For 100 I would give it 4 stars. read more

Got a great deal from Orbitz to stay here. Only one night but it was worth it. A little smaller hotel than I'm used to but the rooms were very nicely done. The beds and pillows were so nice. I actually slept! What I would come back for is their complimentary breakfast. It has a more European flair with cold meats, hard boiled eggs, fruit and miso soups. Of course, they also have regular eggs, sausage, bacon, toast, bagels, oatmeal, juices, coffees and teas. So much food you have to pay for elsewhere. The staff were all so friendly. At breakfast I couldn't tell what the difference between two of the miso soups were. I asked the front desk ,but since she didn't know either she said " lets both do a taste test!" so we did right then and there. read more

This is our go to hotel when we are visiting family in Los altos. Free breakfast- nice. The front guest staff is amazing! The Samoan guy is super nice! The front desk folks made a special trip to Target to help accommodate my in laws. Impressive! We have stayed at this hotel about 5 times. This is a business friendly hotel so the room size is a little tight for a family of 3. Other than that we give this place 20 stars! read more

We love this hotel! My boyfriend and I stayed for the second time last night. This hotel is incredibly clean, updated, great decor, great staff. We won't stay anywhere else when we go to Mountain View for concerts at the shoreline. After our stay we realized that they have package deals for the concerts. This seems to be a deal since we paid $60 total for a cab for the night. The rooms are really nice, and they really take care of you with the amenities they have in the room. From cute little retro toys (rubix cube, slinky, etc) to sodas and a toothbrush ($) or a robe, and my favorite the 10x mirror in the bathroom. The bed was huge, and linens nice. Oh, not to mention a great full breakfast. From fruit and yogurt to full on bacon and eggs! Yumm. Great stay! read more

Just came back from a weekend visit, very impressed with this hotel, it' one of those smaller hotels so it felt good to stay there. The rooms are a bit small but for just a weekend visit, it's all you really need. The complimentary full breakfast buffet is exceptional, from the banana walnut bread to the slow-cooked oatmeal to the very attentive staff that always check on the availability of coffee, oj, eggs,bacon and the like. The entire staff of the hotel were exceptionally helpful and friendly! I normally stay with friends in the area but had to stay at a hotel this time, glad to know that there is a hotel that "gives it's all" to serve it's guests. read more

This place doesn't match the hype. The staff is friendly enough but the room isn't anything special. The breakfast is disappointing. One positive was that I got a free upgrade to a junior suite on my last stay for no reason. If it wasn't for that though, I think you get more for your money at Hotel Strata. read more

We stayed at the Hotel Avante for 3 nights over Thanksgiving weekend. The hotel is a small-medium size. The rooms are fixed up nice and the linens and towels are very nice. The place is very clean. They have a very good breakfast buffet. Not at the Embassey Suites level, but eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, oatmeal, fruit, etc. The breakfast room is small, so you get to meet your fellow travelers. We liked the hotel very much. It was a convenient location for us and close to the 85 highway. Friendly staff. Free parking. Free wifi worked OK. read more
