This is the cutest boutique hotel! A beautiful blue tile fountain welcomes you and immediately calms your nerves from the traffic outside. As you walk down the palm tree lined passage from the ample FREE parking to the lobby, you become immersed in this Greek isle sanctuary. All of the staff are welcoming and helpful. Our room on the second floor was beautiful. Loved the bathroom with smart mirror for defogging, and the square rain fall shower head was luxurious. I enjoyed the outdoor lounge with fire pit, ping pong table, and "pedalitas" you can borrow. Next time I will bring my e-bike to enjoy the bike/walking trail right off the parking lot. The FREE breakfast was great, especially liked their coffee machine! Who needs Starbucks (across the street), when you can make your own cafe mocha or espresso, in their breakfast room. They used to have a "wine hour", but not any more-sad face. But you can buy your own wine and snacks at their snack shop, and enjoy it in their outdoor lounge. I will be back! read more

I've stayed at this location twice. The first time I had a good experience. The second time they put me in a room downstairs that had no latch system on the door and the room smelled like stale cigarettes. I went out to the front desk to see if I could be switched to a different room, the front desk staff, an older woman, was not happy that I asked to move, she told me, "I have only 1 more room I can give you, if you don't like it, we don't have any more rooms. And also if you prepaid you won't get your money back." She seemed annoyed with me. She also said rudely, "you left the other room in shape so I can put someone else there?" I told her, I was in there for less than 10 minutes, and you shouldn't be putting anyone in that room unless they smoke cigarettes." She went and checked the room before she showed me to another room. The room she offered me was one for people with disabilities, also had no latch system and a door that opened to outside. I told her that as a woman staying alone, I'd like to be able to have a latch on the door. She said this is all she could offer me. I let her know that this was a horrible experience and that had I known they were going to give me these horrible rooms I would never have stayed here again. She just shrugged her shoulders and reminded me again that I wouldn't get a refund. She was rude and irritable.while she was helping me, someone stood in line behind me, she interrupted me and what she was doing and helped him before she would finish helping me, as if I was lower priority. Breakfast was good and they have good smelling toiletries, other than that the stay was a huge disappointment and I was treated like I was less then. I'm a travel nurse, and I definitely won't be recommending to my coworkers. Zico staff should be more polite to guests and please clean the rooms and get rid of the cigarette smell. It is offensive to non smokers. I will never be staying here again if I can help it. . read more

TLDR: The place is nice, but God forbid anything goes wrong with your room because they will not listen to you or be very helpful, and if you miss an important event because of their incompetence you will get a lovely $29.79 refund. The hotel is lovely and right off the freeway. The stay was affordable, the parking was free and the deposit was $50. I got locked out of my room for an hour and a half while getting ready for a wedding I was attending. I had stepped out onto the balcony and the door closed behind me and locked me out. There was absolutely zero signage in my room or on the door that said they locked automatically. I stayed in room 203 which supposedly had undergone recent renovations which may be the reason for no signage. The staff tried the key to the balcony door to get me back in, but for whatever reason, the key did not work (and she was trying to unlock the deadbolt when the problem was the handle, which I told her multiple times). They then tried to get me back into the room through the main door, but the latch was covering the door. After using a wire hanger to try to pull the latch shut didn't work, the plan was to loop a cord or string over the latch and use that to pull it shut, which would have worked except that the staff looped it over the part of the latch that's bolted onto the wall and doesn't move. I tried telling them (multiple times) they had to loop it over the other half of the latch but I was either unheard or ignored. After a coworker messaged the staff member helping me, THEN she tried moving it over to the other part of the latch but the phone cord she was using was too thick. She gave up and went back to trying the balcony keys. The cleaning lady who had joined us tried a similar method but with a plastic bag pulled straight. I told her she almost had it and just had to move the bag over the hinged half of the latch. She literally waved me off. After an hour and a half (I was repeatedly asking for time checks) maintenance was finally called in and they said he would be there in 20 minutes. Everyone walked away. I was not waiting around one more second. I ripped the drawstring in my pants from its seams because of course it was sewn in, threw it over the latch, pulled it shut and the problem was solved immediately. I had to fix it myself in the end, because nobody was listening to me. And I missed the ceremony. Then when I got in contact with the manager, Immanuel, about compensation (I asked for one night out of three comped) it very much sounded like he was laughing over the phone and said they couldn't do that. I asked him what he thought the appropriate amount of compensation would be that was equal to what I experienced and he said "I'm struggling to come up with anything." I gave him the timeframe of when it all happened, he said it didn't take that long and I told him I know that it did because I was asking for time checks. I told him it took her an hour and half to call maintenance to come in, and his excuse was that she had called him earlier for advice and THEN waited for another hour at least to bring him in. I still don't know why maintenance wasn't on-site. He called my difference of account a "moot point." He settled on offering me a 15-20% discount (when I got off the phone with hotels.com later I could swear they said 30% but it was hard to tell over the phone, and I'm not dying on that hill). The approved refund was $29.79. After being ignored, dismissed, talked down to, laughed at, and missing the wedding ceremony of one of my dearest friends, my compensation was $29.79. The treatment I received is unacceptable and I will not be staying here again. read more

This place Has gone up in my estimation! I have stayed here time and again throughout the years, but I just stayed here last week and it has improved tremendously! Super friendly desk, clerk, and best of all Nespresso machines in the rooms!! that is such an upgrade from the crappy coffee you get in most hotels! I wasn't expecting much and this hotel disappointed even then. We checked in late at night to a zoom kiosk - no one was available at the front desk (definitely a safety issue), and when I walked into the room I was surprised at how bare it was. No closet, no extra blanket, bare walls, white curtains (no way to block out the sun). The only redeeming quality looked like the shower but the water pressure was sparse and the floor felt cheaply done, as it creaked and moved. I was hoping breakfast would help after a night of crappy sleep because you can hear the traffic all night, and again, wildly disappointed. They had one option for protein - one. A feta cheese spinach egg burrito. No fresh eggs or bacon like another review had. The burrito was ok, but I couldn't keep eating the overcooked liquid egg after a while. My husband said they were ok but I couldn't eat the tortilla to cover up the overcooked taste. They have an espresso machine and my husband said that was good. The bed was actually comfortable. It's clearly a business based hotel, and we weren't here for work business so I'll be looking for a new place for our next stay. read more

This hotel has been taken over by Best Western and rooms now look like stark dorm rooms without any closets or hangers for your clothes. But besides that, they will not refund my $50 credit card fee because they say there was "towel damage". I have never had this happen to me in all my years of staying at a hotel. We only used the towels normally and there is no proof or actual description of this supposed damage; ( no photos )in fact, the desk person said the staff member " didn't remember " but the manager won't back down. I won't ever stay here again! And it took 3 different phone calls and a detailed email to get them to respond after 12 days. Terrible customer service and they can't provide any proof of damage. Negatives: There was no closet, thus no hangers, in the room. I peaked in another room that was being cleaned and didn't see a closet in there either. If you are on a business trip and need to hang your business attire, look elsewhere. The hotel is on a main busy street, so the traffic was somewhat loud. It didn't bother me but something for you to consider. The pillows were hard and uncomfortable. The patios outside of the rooms did not have any barriers in between rooms, so anyone can walk to your patio door (it was a little unsettling when I heard a loud bang outside and late at night). I stayed for one night on a business trip. The outside walkways are beautiful and you feel like to transported to Spain. The front desk staff are so friendly and helpful. The bed was not comfortable, and coming from a small-town countryside, the street noise outside my window sucked. The bed and pillows need some investing and more comfort. However, overall, despite needing a good dusting, the room was well-decorated and comfortable. The continental breakfast is as continental as they come and I wish for more of protein options, or you have to pay for it/ order it. The gym could use an update, I did use it because of my need to exert mental energy before meetings, and it would have been nice if I could not smell the smokers outside and the treadmill was working right. read more

i stayed here for 2 nights and the morning of checkout, i went to the front desk and asked how much it would be to extend my stay for one night. the receptionist told me it would be $57, and i agreed. after paying ANOTHER $50 deposit, she told me my total was $158... i told her the total she promised me was $57, and she just got super pale and panicked. the manager, EMANUEL, saw how upset i was and if i was okay. i told him what happened, and he basically laughed at me telling me they never have rooms for under $100. which is funny, because i originally booked it for $80 per night. he just dismissed me and offered no resolution of any kind, just sent me on my way. what horrible customer service, avoid at all costs. read more

I do recommend this hotel even though the first impression with the lady who was working at the reception was pretty negative. She did not even look at me, said hi or smiled. Smiling is a must in hospitality. She was probably doing her work but a little more of enthusiasm would be more appreciated. The receptionist from the checkout transaction was pleasant. That commented as constructive feedback, I could not be more pleased with the quality-price ratio of this hotel (especially considering that recently I was in the area, at a Best Western and I have enough content for a review and a half...negative of course). This hotel is locally right by the freeway, so don't expect walkability (actually I found there is some sort of exercising trail that goes under a bridge...I saw people in bicycles and with their dogs. However, please do not expect coming here and walking downtown Mountain View. Also expects the Uber drivers to ghost you (maybe is challenging location?). My colleague when trying to drop me there found difficult to follow the directions even with GPS. That commented, this was one of my best hotels for business trip. It is so cute, very nice 'Greek decor', all colorful matching my personality, so I slept very well actually, thinking I was not surrounded by grays and beiges. It reminded me a little bit of a Mexican hacienda mixed with a motel from the outside and the internal patios. I loved the sink and faucet in the bathroom, very cool. Overall a nice stay here. There was an issue on the first day I checked it...I sent an email and acknowledged it that night, and then in the morning I had to follow up to find the manager, but it was resolved quickly by the manager on staff. The continental breakfast is under impressive as far as options. They do provide an option for a paid breakfast too. The hotel is close to the freeway and there are a lot of stores around so it's pretty convenient. I noticed a few homeless people walking the area at day and night but they weren't bothering any of the hotel guests so I was pleased with that. Biggest con is that the walls are veryyyy thin. I had to travel to Stanford for my son's appointment, & the original place we booked didn't seem like the best neighborhood. Since we had the kids we decided to find somewhere else and took a chance on Hotel Zico. A little hard to see the turn in at night, but wow was it worth it! We booked the room just 20 minutes before arriving, the price was on the lower end of average for the area, & $50 deposit. (That surprised me as I am used to a lot higher.) The check in process was unlike any I had seen, it was all virtual and the person who helped me was very kind. I loved the room, especially the fact that you can go out on the balcony and there was a ping pong table, and fire pit. Absolutely beautiful. It is near the freeway, so outside is louder than relaxing, but you cannot hear it from inside the room so it was no bother. The only reason I am giving 4 instead of 5 stars is because I feel the room could have been cleaned a bit better. (There was a sock under the table and a few places that could have been wiped down better in corners of bathroom.) I will absolutely be back when we need to stay again. read more

This hotel was a huge disappointment. My wife had same-day surgery at Stanford Medical. We live a four-hour drive from this location. We had booked for two nights. Surgery was scheduled for 5 AM the morning following our first night's stay. I phoned at 9:30 AM Zico Hotel asking that the room be cleaned and comfortable for when she would arrive following surgery. We arrived back to Zico before 11:30 AM. Our room had not been touched by the hotel staff. My wife had a 1:15 PM follow-up the day following surgery. I asked for a late check-out near 1 PM. I was told that if we did not checkout by noon, there would be an additional $30 surcharge. I walked the hallway several times during our full day stay. Two cleaning carts were left unattended in the hallway with one additional cart parked in the doorway of a guest room. Nothing was done in the with the carts and the rooms till about 4 PM. The courtyard photo in the Zico listing a very narrow strip with artificial turf with one of the long sides, concrete walls bordering a noisy freeway exit. The toilet seat was loose, a challenge to attempt to set on it. The bathroom was extremely small and the open door came to within an inch of the toilet. The room was small. The sheets were loose upon our arrive and a long strand of hair was on the bottom sheet. The free breakfast is continental and minimum at best. During the past 14 months I have stayed in more than a dozen USA motels/hotels. When and where there was a breakfast with the room, the TV in the breakfast room was one of the three broadcast networks or CNN. Zico's breakfast room had Fox News, which says something about Zico Hotel. The king bed was comfortable. read more

The walls were LITERALLY falling off. Every wall in the room the wallpaper was lifting. Carpet had huge gap and holes in it. Walls were also fitting black marks all over. HAIR in our bed shits. Location: it's not the most ideal as it is very close to the highway and if you miss the entrance, you need to drive in and out of several highways to get back to the entrance area. Room: I stayed there for over a week and man I counted over 8 flies during my stay. I was able to get rid of some of them. But they kept on coming back. It was so annoying seeing it fly around. Super cute hotel. We stayed for one night when attending a concert at the Shoreline Amphitheatre. We were able to check in early when we arrived at 1pm. We have stayed at this hotel a few times throughout the years. Its nicely priced and right off the freeway. Perfect for concert nights at Shoreline. The parking is free, subterranean and gated. The vibe is really cool, probably because it's privately owned and operated. I believe all of the rooms have balconies with tables and chairs outside. The rooms have all of the typical amenities including frig and microwave. It lost a star for me because of the mattress isn't my favorite, but then again we always come back. I surprised my wife with a Mothers Day Brunch at one of restaurants in Santa Clara, and decided to turn it into a family staycation in one of the hotels in the surrounding areas. I saw Hotel Zico and it was intriguing to me. The hotel was very nice, and the thing that I and also my kids enjoyed was the the sink in the bathroom they said it was cool. The room was decorated nicely and the parking was great. My only problem was that we booked the hotel for a two night stay with four guest. There must have been some miscommunication because there was only two sets of towels in the bathroom. I received a welcoming text asking me how things where and to inform them if I needed anything. I text back it doesn't seem to be enough towels for four guests in the room. The reply was I dont have any at the front desk I will check the housekeepers cart and if not some will be available in the morning. I had my son to check the next day and he was told we do not have any towels. So I went to Target and I purchased towels for us to use for the remainder of our stay. I would have liked to have given five stars but having to purchase towels was not good for me. read more

Stayed here for one night recently and the room itself was adequate, and parking is available on street level or below the hotel. Unfortunately, it was really noisy in the hotel room itself - especially when any neighboring room used their bathroom. I really liked the breakfast overall - especially being able to custom order eggs, and the greek yogurt bowl was delicious too. Just wish I had been able to sleep in later but was awakened by the water pipe noise and how bright the room got with sunrise too. Hidden Gem - We really enjoyed our stay here! We stayed for one night on Valentine's Day weekend. Everything about our stay was great. I'm really surprised how well kept the property is and how stylish it is, especially for the attractive price - we only paid $74 total (including taxes and everything). The food menu is really well priced, and the portions are good. We got nice and full without having to overspend or go out to a restaurant for breakfast/brunch. The location is perfect. It's just off the 85 freeway ramp, and is just about 40min from San Francisco, which is where we decided to spend the next day when we checked out of the hotel. Stayed here past weekend on a whim while visitin family in Santa Clara. Ended up getting a great tate considering the College Football National Championship was the same weekend. For what I paid - it was an exceptional value. Price, comfort and location really could not be beat. I decided to save my Hiton Rewards Points for sole other time... The hotel is small and would be considered botique. There's an underground lot which came in handy as it rained one day of the three that I was there. The lobby is bright and welcoming and even offered a complimentarty cheese and wine hour for hotel guests. Wasn't expecting it. The room was small but perfect for what my wife and I needed. It was clean, comfortable and had a shared patio. The fixtures and decor looked new as well as the carpet. The bed and pillows were clean and DID NOT have bed bugs!!! The TV was small but worked without any issues. I ended up watching the Surviving R. Kelly Series... damn - sad. The bathroom was small but the showerhead was amazing. I could have stood in the shower the entite weekend but would have been wrinkly lol. The complimentary breakfast was excellent too! The service was great and so were the offerings. The Omellete station, the bacon, pancakes and waffles were my favorite. There was also oatmeal, cereal as well as breakfast potatoes and boiled eggs if you are in a hurry. Last but not least there was hot chocolate, Starbucks Coffee and pricey tea. Hotel Management/Owners did not skimp. As somwone who travels often for business and pleasure, it is great to know that there are places like Hotel Zico around to relax for a night or two or three. If you are looking for a place that wont't cost an arm and leg like most hotels in the Bay Area, you should consider this place. I'll be back again for sure when visiting town. They do not care to clean up the kitchen. There are flies on the kitchen wall, every morning. In the outside parking lot, a homeless is scavenging trashcans. Parking lots are lots of garbage on the ground. The front staff are not friendly at all. Does not even smile at the guests. There is a coin laundry machine, but the Front desk does not exchange the coins. Worst hotel we have ever stayed. Most of the staff here are non-professional and are all just kids, doing their job obviously unwillingly. Keep making our feelings very uncomfortable. Made a last minute trip, I called to book a one bed for two nights. I spoke with Citlali, she was very nice and made the process very easy and quick! I had another last minute change of plans the same day I had to check in, so I called before my check in time to see if they had any availability for two beds and if we could possibly change it. I'm not sure who I spoke to the second time (I forgot to ask for their name) but the lady who I spoke with was very kind and understanding. Room was very clean, the decor was minimal but very pleasing and beds were also very comfortable. Shower and bathroom area were very clean but definitely needed minimal maintenance work. Please keep in mind that they close their parking garage at night and don't open it until 6am, which I personally liked but did not use. I did have a bit of difficulty finding parking one of the nights I stayed, due to coming back to the hotel very late, but I somehow got lucky and found the last parking space outside available. At night all questions, comments and concerns are going to be answered and helped by a person on a screen. Overall a really beautiful hotel! read more

Some of my property "went missing" i.e. stolen while in the possession of the front desk. The manager failed to call me back on three occasions, and I spoke with the manager (Ricardo or Roberto), who didn't disagree that it was stolen, but told me it was too bad because they are not responsible for items kept behind the desk and if i wanted to do anything i would need to call the authorities.... The item was not very expensive, so its loss not a huge deal but the manager's dishonesty, and refusal to take responsibility is concerning. A hotel is supposed to be a safe environment, but if you can't trust the staff and management, it's hard to feel comfortable. I highly discourage people from staying here. read more

Standard boutique hotel. A bit confusing to find the "font desk". There's a machine that's like self-checkin/out which we found easy to use. The front desk is not always staffed, bell sometimes does nothing. Room looked and smelled clean and had microwave and mini fridge and coffee machine. Free breakfast was bagel, muffin, toast, yogurt, oatmeal, coffee, maybe cereal? More options for a paid breakfast.
