Just stayed at hotel amigo, it was divine. The location is within easy walking distance to everything, the staff are charming and very helpful, the hotel interiors are tasteful, and the breakfasts are great. Since we were tourists, I must commend the concierge desk as especially knowledgeable. Their dinner recommendations were spot on, non touristy, delicious Belgian food and beer, and walkable. Most importantly we took a day trip to Bruges via train, and met with a private guide arranged by the concierge. The guide is a native to Bruges, had taught art history pertinent to the wealth of Bruges' paintings and architecture, and had served as administrator for one of the major museums. His exceptional knowledge and passion transformed our visit.
We would not have found him except through the concierge. Staying at the hotel lifted our experiences out of the mundane. read more
