A friend told us about this place near downtown Tucson (we were in town for a concert at the Fox). It's pretty unique; the layout isn't fancy and all of the rooms are accessed via an outside door but the management pays attention to some interesting details that make it worthwhile. The room was clean, the water pressure was good and the wi-fi was fine. There's a bar and a restaurant. It's located off I-10, so access is easy. If you're looking for a comfortable, no-frills place to stay, this place is worth checking out.
Hotel McCoy is a throwback roadside motel that is brilliantly renovated with super friendly staff! Shout out to Amanda and Santino to making our stay extra special! The attention to detail in maintaining that oh so lovely vintage/bohemian vibe is a lost art- pun intended! Thank you for being so pet friendly! Not sure who had the most comfortable stay- us or our pup Willow? Will look forward to staying there next time! Cheers!
We spent a couple of nights at the Hotel McCoy for Toni's birthday and it was excellent! The Hotel is an old 60s style motor lodge from back when families took trips down route 66. It has been redone to capture a feeling of comfort and good vibes. The feeling your given is one of welcome. The staff was very helpful and took care of everything for us. The offer a breakfast with your stay. Home made oatmeal with a large verity of toppings along with coffee and tea. They have a heated saltwater pool to enjoy after your days activity. I highly recommend this place!
Glad I had the opportunity to check out this amazing retro hotel! The friendly welcome, the free beer coupons, the tasty oatmeal/Pop-tart bar-- all top-notch! And the cute, retro room made me smile! I was concerned that the proximity to the freeway would be a noise issue, but I wasn't bothered at all. Check this place out, traveling people!
Super awesome hotel with very reasonable prices and fantastic staff. If you're looking for an artsy boutique style hotel this will be your jam! The rooms are clean and have gorgeous colorful murals. When you arrive you will get a token for a beer, wine or cider. They have a full bar and food truck. The pool is super cute too! Can't beat the price and quality!

Instead of feeling like you've tripped face first into horse feed, you are met with a varied and wide selection of toppings. This place is truly awesome and I really wanted to give it 4.5 stars. I can't in good conscience give it a 5. I'm going to tell you about the bad things first and then I'll tell you about all the other wonderful amazing things about this property. The place was very clean except for the tub. I did have to request to have that cleaned before I would get into it. And they were really great about taking care of that. The towels are white and I was told they're only two months old, but all of them are stained. I had one that had black smudges on it and I didn't wanna use that towel because I really wasn't sure how clean it actually was. They told me they would replace my towels, but when I came back to my room, it looks like my towels were just folded differently, and that black towel smudge one was in the exact same place. They weren't switched out. The sheets were very stiff and felt like they had a lot of fabric pills they were uncomfortable. The bed was so hot-I don't know if it's the mattress protector or the sheets they use. The bed would have been blissful if it wasn't so hot and it had much better sheets on it. I also sleep on slippery sateen sheets normally, maybe I'm a diva.I would bring my own sheets next time. I did bring this up at the end of my stay and I was told I could ask for other sheets, but the towels felt the same, it must be the detergent or something that they use. It just doesn't make things soft. Everything seemed really stiff. The room is a little smaller than normal hotel rooms and that's completely fine but the lighting in there is terrible. You can't read in bed. There's one light it's so dim in there. I stayed over thanksgiving so Saturday I asked the housekeeping for a room refresh since they were literally in the next room and they told me I had to talk to the front desk or something other and even though honestly I could've walked to the 50 feet over there and asked it just seemed like a hassle. I really wasn't willing to deal with. It seemed completely silly to me. So if you want your room cleaned, just tell them you want it done every day when you first check in. Now for the good stuff . I love how friendly and welcoming the staff is. If you have a problem with anything, you can pretty much ask them and they'll take care of it for you. I wanted more chalk-here you go. You get a free drink so I took advantage of that and I had a nice conversation with the bartender. I think her name is, Senia. She's lovely and fun. They have free breakfast and they have an oatmeal breakfast bar. The oatmeal is actually really good. There was also white and wheat toast, pop tarts and coffee. There is a large room to sit in with communal tables or if you want to sit at the table by yourself, there is there's games all over so this room could be used multiple ways. There's a little sitting area because if you don't spring for the bigger rooms, which I would suggest doing, you don't really have a comfy place to sit in your room. They supply with these books in there so fun. I actually read a book on my vacation. The pool is a saltwater and heated all year round. They have Floaties and there's backyard games. There's all kinds of activities and there's a food truck but that will be leaving in two weeks I heard. The art on the property is fantastic and they even had a paint and wine night on Friday that started at 3pm. I wasn't aware of it, but I wish I had if I did, I would've participated. on Saturday there were people out on the deck, which is heated by the way drumming and they invited me to join them which I thought was super cool. I passed but they did it for a few hours and they asked everyone if they wanted to join and it was very rhythmatic and trance-like-it was so cool. It's such a cool property and I'm so glad I stayed there. I'd recommend it to anyone. This hotel is honestly for everyone, families, single people, all kinds of couples-young, old, same-sex,.. it's a judgment free zone and not only our people welcome but dogs are too! If you don't like dogs or people you're gonna wanna skip this place, but if you're down for a cool experience-THIS IS IT!!! Top 3 coolest hotels I've been to.
I am glad I got to experience this hotel, and would recommend it to young folks with pets for an easy place to stay on their cross-country roadtrip, but I would have to be convinced to come back. It's not for me now, but I know it would've been in my college era. Starting with the goods: the local flavor is unmatched. There is no doubt that the concept was born from a person who loves Tucson and has built community here. From the murals, to the Tucson-specific named parking spaces, to the variety of stained glass and paintings for sale, the typewriters inviting you to contribute to a ghost story if there had been any paper nearby, to the local finds "vending" machine, it all feels very intentional and I love the showcase of uniqueness. Complimentary laundry was an excellent option, and EV chargers are available by the pinball room! Upon arrival, staff made me feel welcome and check-in was a breeze. I also loved my complimentary first drink of local beer, and the PM staff were just really friendly and seemed like they enjoyed being at the hotel. The rooms are nicely decorated with enough places to sit, and the beds were so comfortable. Heated pool, gallery space with cozy couches, and the bar area in general make it a great place for friend groups and meeting new people, if that's your thing. But the bads: it's kind of impossible feel clean in the room - my bare feet were black after a few minutes of shuffling around to the shower, and the towels are as thin (and small) as paper. The AC unit is incredibly loud when it kicks on. The walls are so thin, I could hear word-by-word conversations of the college students staying on the next room over. There's a LOT of dogs and while owners do their best to get them to the small area in front of the gym/laundry room, there is a prevailing smell of pee and barking while dogs make friends - we were one of the furthest from the dog area and it was still audible. And the AM lobby staff were not so welcoming - they were flustered and pulled in multiple directions the morning we left, in that they were handling everything from coffee refills, oatmeal service, checkout, and guest complaints/evictions. They were trying their best, but the hotel should consider additional staff in the mornings. Water and ice machine were also a lil on the fritz when I and others were trying to fill bottles in the AM and the single lobby staff member had to try to help us troubleshoot too. All in all, I'm not mad that I brought my family to Hotel McCoy. But I unfortunately wouldn't bring them back.
Most fun hotel I've been to in a LOOONG time! While visiting family in Tucson I had the pleasure of checking into the best motor inn flip I'd seen in, well ever - in person at least. The reviews stood out and the photos further piqued my interest. Imagine how giddy was when it turned out to be even better yet! The exterior murals were a major highlight. I love the story of the visiting artists that graced the walls. So much character and pizazz popped with their namesake artwork. It's hard to imagine having a favorite, but driving through the entry really gave a wow factor! Checking in was a breeze and the lobby was so fun and playful. There were so many cool pieces to look at and an in house bar to boot. I was told of the amenities which included a laundry / gym, heated pool, outdoor games & fire, indoor & outdoor dining, video games on a large screen ... (just to name a few). Oh, did I mention the breakfast oatmeal bar, on site food truck, free drink token? No? All that and I haven't even gotten to the rooms yet. The rooms were a fun, vacationing Route 69 vibe of MCM with a dash of kitsch. Bold colors popped across the room with a bright yellow desk complete with vintage paperbacks to lose yourself in by the pool. A red mini fridge was the perfect size for my two day stay. Signature accessories added to the upscale motel vibe. Playful touches like a chalkboard door added whimsical charm. As an added bonus, just outside each room was a bistro set to enjoy your coffee. Having stayed mid week, my kids and I had the pool to ourselves. We ordered snacks and drinks from the bar and had the best Halloween as they played The Nightmare Before Christmas on a projector outside! Breakfast was served with fresh fruit, Pop-Tarts and your choice of local coffees or teas. I would 100% recommend staying here the next time you're in Tucson!
I don't have a handlebar mustache or wear suspenders but I do appreciate hipster aesthetic. I like funky art and irony and good coffee. What I don't like is stained linens, threadbare towels, an inroom fridge that gurgles all night, and questionable plumbing. Also, having an extremely amplified jam band doing weak Grateful Dead covers at 9pm (80+ decibels at my door) when I have a 6am flight in the morning, well, chef's kiss to that. The staff are all super friendly but have a first-day-as-an-intern skill set. The location is convenient if you work at the Amazon distribution center across the street or want to get on I-10 in less than a minute. Surprisingly comfortable mattress tho. That's why they get 2 stars.

The only reason I'm not going for the five stars is bec I had a moment of extreme fear while enjoying beers at the bar... a pit bull appeared! Yes a dog was inside by the bar with it's owner. I suffer from dog phobia. Yes it's a real thing and it's paralyzing for me. Anyway, once I realized that dogs were allowed in the this hotel I was immediately uneasy and although I realize that this is personal problem for me I also happen to know many other humans that are not pet people and prefer no animals around. Aside from that I can honestly say this hotel was super cute and clean and btw I slept like a baby, No noise to speak of! Having said all that, If you love animals then this is the place for you. I totally recommend this hotel for you. But for me I will go back and stay at the Clifton where I've stayed before.. if I see animals appear there then I'll need to shop for another hotel. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. From the amazing (kind, upbeat, fun) staff and murals/art covering every wall (inside and out), to the amazing bar and oatmeal/pop tart bar in the morning, to the beautiful pool and relaxing rooms (with amazing decor and AC), this hotel exceeded all expectations. Comfortable bed with amazing pillows, Roku TV, and everything you could ever need. Cannot rave enough about this place! read more

We rebooked for the night before getting keys to our new digs here in Tucson. I used the 15% off rebooking coupon they emailed me. This time I booked the king bed kitchenette room. We got room 118. The king bed is ginormous and the room is way bigger than the queen room. The microwave is a bit complicated to use. I again, removed the wall clock and took out the battery to stop the ticking noise. I woke up helllllaz early around 6:30am and began messaging with a friend. She told me I should go get breakie but I was like, nah, they have this epic oatmeal bar. I told her to look up the hotel and that's when she was like: oh cool, they give you a $10 credit for not using housekeeping. So, y'all, rewind to mid-February when we stayed 5 nights. We had the "do not disturb" up the entire time and were never offered this. At breakfast just now, I inquired about it. The bar clerk (person with amazing pompadour) was about to correct it and give me the credit when they realized we weren't staying another night. It was super awkward. They were literally handing me the $10 coupon and then retracted their hand back. They then asked the other person there about it. Her name is Liz. Liz told me that they had some confusion with this offer and that it had launched in January. We stayed February 18-23. She also told me that you have to stay 2 or more nights to get the deal. I told that we did and she literally said: "Well, you can get the offer on your next stay." That's when I told her we were actually moving here so we won't be staying again. Also, there's no place on the website describing that the offer requires two or more nights. It just says, "multiple nights". I think this policy needs to be more specific. Clearly, neither staff or guest knows what's going on. As a person who is also in a customer facing industry, poor customer service is one of my biggest pet peeves. Liz, had the opportunity to offer us a few cooler drinks or a $10 credit back, but she didn't. Side note on the coffee area. The creamers all sit in a galvanized tin directly in ice - no liner. These tins are decorative. They aren't made for holding ice for long durations. They "sweat" and cause a huge mess. Which was the case this morning. I could see that both staff members were busy so I grabbed a stack of napkins and cleaned it up myself. The floor, I couldn't get to. It needed a mop. And probably a wet floor sign. Y'all, I truly love this place and that's why I'm so specific in my reviews. A "it's so cute" review is not helpful to any business. read more

AMAZING!! Such a fantastic experience- wonderful welcome - staff was all very informative- taking every precaution so guests feel comfortable and safe (thank you!), great vibes, super cool place, very clean and fun little DETAILS- everywhere!! Breakfast was delicious and filling -delivered to the room! We stayed one night and it was just great! The room was so clean, smelled great, roomy, comfortable and just perfect; the soap/shampoo smells heavenly, towels wonderful and clean, bed/pillows/linens- clean and thoughtfully prepared AND best part is that they're dog loving and welcoming!! With or without pets, it's a great stay! Service was just wonderful and so kind- from reception to housekeeping!! Highly recommend checking this place out! I feel like I forgot to mention things, but I was overall happily surprised with this little gem along our way! Very comfortable :) Super easy access to I10, coming and going, too! read more

Legit the coolest hotel around. Vintage vibes with all the modern amenities! The bed is supes comfy. I wanted to take it home with me. The air conditioning was nice and frosty. The pillows were plush and pleasant. They offer you poker chips to redeem for free drinks at their "bar" (ran by the same girl who checks you in) which closes at midnight. You can sit inside at the "bar" or in the lounge area that had tables with old school games like Battleship, Clue & the like. You can also take your bevy and venture outside and sit by the fire, chill in one of the poolside chaises, float on the poop on a adult sized raft or hold it in one hand as you battle it out with a friend at the pool at the foosball table. The pool area closes at 11. They also have restaurants that will deliver food to the rooms for free until 8:30 on weekdays or 9:30 on weekends. The kitchenette is adorbs and featured red and stainless steel mini appliances including a fridge and electric portable stove. It also has dishes and silverware for 2, although we only had one spoon and one fork. I didn't notice that until the very end because we didn't use any of it, and there was a sign saying to alert them if anything is missing upon check in or else you will be charged for it. Hoping that's not the case! The decor is mid century modern and it's just the Bee's knees. My only dislikes were that there isn't a closet or an iron, they do have a cute kitschy "coat rack" or sorts on the wall with hangers for your clothes. The bathroom comes with yummy smelling body wash, shampoo & conditioner. There is also an on-site small gym with weights and cardio machines as well as a retro laundromat. There is art all over the property. They served pop tarts and an oatmeal bar in the morning alongside tangerines, apples, coffee & tea. I grabbed 2 tangerines and a coffee and was on my merry way. Overall, huge round of applause to whomever renovated this place and executed the vision. You sure did the damn thing! Will def be back next time I am in Tucson for work (once a month!) read more

My husband and I arrived late last night and we were a little unsure how things would go since we've never been here. The reviews on yelp, Expedia and google were all pretty great so we had high hopes. Right away we were greeted with friendly and welcoming faces. Everyone was so helpful and patient. Our room was quaint and well stocked with a kitchenette, cute fridge, toiletries and big king bed. There was a beautiful mural on one wall and bright furniture against another. We loved the chalkboard feature on the back of the door. My husband even left a message for them on there because he loved everything so much. One small issue we had was opening our door with the key card and it took a few tries to get it to open just right. We called the front desk and they came right away so it was no problem at all. The oatmeal breakfast was fun and it was so nice we were able to order so conveniently. We also got two tokens for drinks and we ended up grabbing some non-alcoholic ones for the road. This was just the cute, unique roadside stop we wanted on our road trip! We will definitely be back again! read more

This is honestly one of the best hotels we have ever visited. The only downside is that we were only here for one night this time. My husband and I got free drink tickets at check-in and enjoyed a late night mini date with wine and beer. The morning oatmeal bar was amazing and my daughter loved her very first pop tart. Good coffee too! The room is the cutest with midcentury styling and a retro mini fridge. It was very clean. The comfy beds were memory foam and there are nice natural bath products on the wall of the shower. They had a comedy night going on in the lobby when we arrived. This will be our new favorite place when we visit Tucson. The employees were all so friendly and you can tell they take pride in the place. I can't wait to come back! read more

I love this place. I come to Tucson about once a month for business and stay here for a night or two. The rooms are always clean and comfortable. The vintage vibes and colorful local art are so fun. They serve amazing granola and coffee in their breakfast bar. Highly recommend! read more

What a great eclectic place to stay! Definitely not your run of the mill hotel! Love the retro feel of the place as well as the art! The staff is very friendly and helpful and there to offer suggestions on fun places to visit or nearby restaurants. I literally have no idea where to begin with this review because I loved everything about this place! I picked Hotel Mccoy based on 1- their amazing rating on the hotel app I use to book it and 2- price! We were looking to just get away for a night and didn't want to spend a fortune. Well... we got all the things we needed and more AND it was affordable! Check in is drive thru - the hostess comes to your car - goes over the usual hotel stuff and off you go. The hotel is all 1 floor so you can park in front of your room. The rooms and the hotel literally look straight out of a vintage artsy movie! The bed was comfy, the room had enough space, it had a nice TV with free wi-fi to connect to your account (Netflix/Hulu/Amazon +/- the chill) The pool is not huge but plenty of space tor relax. I even walked around the hotel to look at all the local art painted on the walls! We got 2 oatmeals for breakfast (included in the nightly fee) and they were very filling and tasted great. They are taking COVID to the extreme in a good way!! All can be done over email or phone and they do contact delivery to your room! The only complain I could see people making would be is not fancy... But that's what I loved the most! Is like staying at a friends guest house!! read more

They had a movie night and had Legally Blonde on :) the staff was amazing and friendly! They were so helpful and we definitely felt like home. Also, my husband got two free beers! He was enjoying his stay here swimming with our daughter. Definitely will be the hotel we will stay in every time we visit Tucson! Doesn't look like much from the outside but inside is beautiful. It all started with Instagram! My beautiful girlfriend found out there page locally here in Tucson and since then has fell in love with their hotel. When the opportunity arose, I booked it for New Years and my goodness I fell in love. Pulling in for the first time I didn't even feel like I was in Tucson anymore. The beautiful colors, the atmosphere, Americana vibe just had me feeling some type of way. Hotel McCoy is a must stay if you want to get away , but feel right at home. read more

If you're tired of cookie cutter hotel chains and want a stay to remember then check in to Hotel McCoy. Just off Highway 10 the renovated retro motel offers unique local art in every room with murals and pithy travel sayings punctuating their hospitality and support for adventurous road trips. The rooms aren't large but they're comfy. A complimentary drink of a local brew or wine was a bonus, and a helping of oatmeal and great local coffee braced us for the road. This will be my place to stay whenever I pass this way again. read more

The greatest concept hotel. They took an old rundown motel and turned it into this great artistic hotel. Super cool vibe super chill atmosphere. The staff could not be any more helpful or nicer. There is art everywhere. The rooms are quaint and immaculate. The beds are comfortable. The only thing lacking is closet space but they do have an area to hang up your clothes. They have a fantastic bar would you get a token a check in for a free cocktail. Beer and wine only. Like I said the staff are super helpful. They have an amazing oatmeal bar in the morning. I cannot say better things about this place. We will definitely be coming back. Not to mention the place is very affordable. read more
