This review is only for the "Pet Friendly" unfortunately when we got to the hotel and tried to check in we discovered they don't allow cats. I was extremely exhausted from 13 hr drive and was looking forward to this hotel. I just wish it would have said "Dog Friendly" not PET because many people have pets that are not dogs. The lady at the front was very nice and helpful, I just don't think people who are on the road for long hours have time to read everything word for word on multiple websites. I think their site and Expedia should list it as dog friendly only to avoid this issue for future guests. read more

We stayed at the Hotel McCoy back in 2019 and had a lovely experience. This year when we stayed for three days, it cost us over $900 for the EXACT same room that we paid $520 for last year. When we called after the credit card bill came in, we were told that they wanted to keep their rates "competitive." I consider that gouging especially when we were told at checkout that it was $520. While it is a cool place to stay, it isn't $900 cool. Next year, we will stay elsewhere. read more

I witnessed what seemed to be the manager being very aggressive towards a single staff member. Instead of being able to enjoy my breakfast, I had to listen to the person that set everything up for us be talked down on. It was very uncomfortable. read more

Road tripping from Nevada to Texas and Tucson was our mid-point. Traveling with a 90 lb German Shepherd can make it difficult to find a nice place to stay. We found Hotel McCoy on the Bring Fido app. Great find! It's a classic mid-century motor lodge that has been renovated and turned into a really cool local artist inn. We arrived at about 10pm. We were greeted by the employee. Very friendly and informative. She checked us in and provided us with two complimentary beer/wine drink tokens and information for the complimentary breakfast. After dropping off our luggage, we used the drink tokens. Excellent selection of local craft beers (draft and cans) and local wines. The room was very clean and nicely appointed. The breakfast was delicious! The tamales are extra, but they're a must! Absolutely delicious!! Anyway, this was an amazing find and we will definitely be staying there in the future when passing through Tucson! read more

OMG!! If I had the money to invest in a beat up old motel so I could turn it into a replica of Hotel McCoy, i would! What a fantastic little gem of a place to stay! The room was cozy and retro cool. The property has local art and poetry painted all over it. The pool and play areas are perfect and they serve beer, wine and assorted drinks at their cool little bar. For breakfast they offer an all you can eat oatmeal bar with about 15 toppings to choose from. All this and our little dog, Theo, stayed FREE!! I was a little worried at first because it is an old motel that has been redone in south Tucson (not the best part of Tucson), but this hotel is AWSOME! They gave free drink tokens and had a good truck the first night. We are in the dining room and they had a kid preforming live music! So much fun! The whole video of this place is retro and cool! The rooms are a little small but the bed is comfy and it was nice and clean! The pool is nice and there are some fun outdoor games. I would recommend this place to everyone! read more

This place is SO cute!!! Newly remodeled and you can tell! Everything is beautiful, smells new, is clean and the staff is SUPER friendly. We checked in last night after making a last minute reservation. Danielle was extremely helpful, even went out onto the property herself to make sure our room was ready for us with the air conditioning turned on. This morning we had the oatmeal breakfast bar. Conveniently located right off the freeway, (you won't hear the sound with your A/C turned on), the adorably retro Hotel McCoy was a delightful surprise. I needed a last-minute room at 9 PM on a Friday night, and not only were they able to accommodate me in a sweet kitchenette room with a comfy kingsize bed, but the staff couldn't have been friendlier or more welcoming. After a week of sleepless nights at a less-than-wonderful Airbnb, I appreciated the cleanliness, quality, and comfort of this hotel, along with a luxury mattress, big screen TV, hot-water shower, and welcome token, which I used for a much-needed glass of wine. This hotel is a gem! Cute bungalow- style rooms. Very clean! Comfortable bed. Black out curtains. It was very quiet at night; no traffic noise or anything else. TV has cable and Roku. There is a small refrigerator in the room with a complimentary bottle of water. No microwave in the room but there are two in the dining area. You get a free drink chip for each adult in your party. The common areas made me feel like I was at summer camp. There are board games available. There is a heated pool, a gas fire place, a corn hole game and bicycles available. There also is a bookstore, but I didn't go in. And, big bonus, they allow pets. Breakfast is oatmeal with a variety of toppings, and pop-tarts. Almond milk is available if you don't do dairy. Only complaint is that tub is slippery. There is no rubber mat or treads on tub. The only grab-bar is at the far end of the tub. Great little hotel, fun, clean, comfortable. read more

This place was great. It's as good as everything I've read about it. Clean, comfortable and safe. Front desk staff were friendly, positive and helpful. We arrived early and they were able to let us check in ahead of schedule. The lobby has a small bar offering local beers and wines. We were given a free drink token upon check in. Friday night offered live music by the pool and a chance to socialize inclined to. The free breakfast of oatmeal and coffee were delivered to your door each morning if requested. Sweet retro roadside motel on the south end of Tucson. I remembered it from its previous life and was more than pleasantly surprised by the changes. Hyper-local is the theme and attention is paid to everything from the art to the doormats to the names painted on the parking spots. Check in was easy. We were early so the rooms weren't ready but we could have had a drink and sat at the pool. We opt'd for lunch nearby and a nice walk along the wash (there is a trail). The rooms are clean and new with very comfortable beds. The AC units were a bit loud (as always), so I just turned it off. The weather was perfect and I didn't need it. The mini fridge in the room was a nice touch as were the chairs and tables in front of each room. The gym was small but had everything I needed - elliptical, treadmill and free weights. And for those on the road - several washer and dryers. The lobby has a small bar and a free breakfast (oatmeal, poptarts, coffee and tea) as well as a place to sit and work if need be. The pool area looked cute but it was chilly and rainy so we didn't make it. It is definitely a place I would come back to stay with my family. read more

This is exactly what Tucson needed! I enjoyed a staycation this weekend and it was AWESOME! From the friendly staff at checkin, to the spotlessly cleaned room, the art on the walls, the yummy oatmeal and even the shampoo and conditioner, it's obvious that this place is built on love and attention to detail! A personal French press at breakfast?!? Yea they went the extra mile with that too!The pool was so amazing and the events were awesome! They had a comedian, food truck and live band! I also love that the bar is all things local (I didn't know Arizona could make good wine until I tried it at the bar!) they also have a wide selection of sodas, teas and other drinks. The staff really makes this place deserving of 6 stars because they go above and beyond for every guest. From the beginning, they create a very welcoming atmosphere so that all of their guests are more than people just staying at a hotel they are actually friends interacting! Super cute art hotel with local beer and wine served from their trendy lobby bar and free local coffee in the morning. Rooms were clean, comfortable and stylish. You don't even have to get out of your car to check in! They meet you in a cute drive thru and set you all up from there. Amanda checked us in and was friendly and knowledgable of the area and restaurants. A complimentary glass of wine or beer was offered when we arrived! Due to covid the continental breakfast, with an oatmeal bar, local fruit and POPTARTS, is ordered the night before and delivered to your door at no charge! Free room service?! Yes please! I hope they keep this after covid! (be sure to tip!) This hotel is conveniently located right off the freeway! But you would never know it, it was not loud at all. We stayed here for three nights in late July. Great location, easy to access Saguaro National Park and downtown. The hotel was comfortable, clean, and fun. Air conditioner was a little loud but kept the room cool. Pool looked nice but was overrun with children during our visit--not the hotel's fault, though! Great common areas to relax and a small gym with one treadmill, one elliptical, one of those everything cable pulley thingies, and a small selection of dumbbells. Breakfast was okay the first day. On the second day, the excitement of choose your own oatmeal adventure had already worn thin. A bit more variety would have been nice. read more

I can't add much to all of the positive comments people have already made but what I will say is the they had me with the Kindness discount when I made my reservation the first time around. I could barely wait to get home from our stay at the Hotel McCoy to write this review. Hand's down, the best motel/hotel stay we've ever had - and we've traveled a plenty! They deliver exactly what they promise - vintage vibes with modern perks - but it just gets better from there. The initial check in was warm and friendly, made even better when we were offered a free room upgrade due to the length of our stay (four nights). The overall aesthetic of the place, starting with the beautiful murals, is awesome with every detail attended to. Our room was delightful, and felt like stepping back in time but in the best possible way. The bed was the BEST, bathroom towels thick and fluffy, and the retro-style fridge and toaster were perfectly accented with the modern flat screen TV (let's be real: no one is longing for a retro TV). But more than the amenities, I think our stay was most memorable because of the interactions we had with other guests, facilitated by the casual bar in the lobby (your stay includes a free drink!). We visited with folks over a glass wine in the evening, in the breakfast area in the morning (the oatmeal bar is delicious, but if that's too healthy for you Pop Tarts are available as well), and had a running pinball game rivalry with two young boys who magically appeared every time we put a quarter in the machine. Cool looking place. Rooms are decent. Booked it a few days ahead of time (less than a week) at $130/night. On the day of the reservation, we noticed that the price online was $98/night, and asked them if they would honor it. They would not. We then went out to get takeout, and when we came back the key didn't work. They had only given us one key, and didn't offer a second. We went to the front desk and they gave us a new key. That didn't work. Turns out the batteries had fallen out of the door's deadlock, because the casing is broken and doesn't hold together. read more

What a great place to stay! The location is about 10 minutes from downtown, but away from all the craziness. It's right off of the freeway, which is a plus for me because it is very easy to get to. The staff was super friendly and genuinely care about your well being. The motel is affordable yet classy. The bar is open until 12 and they have a great selection of beer, wine and cocktails. Unique, comfortable hotel with great energy and super welcoming employees. Bedding is incredibly cozy, rooms are clean and inviting, amenities are simple and oatmeal breakfast was delicious. My teenage son said it was the best shower he's ever had. The amenities in the shower were also great and after using them I didn't regret opting for them over my shampoo and conditioner that I brought, and my hair is picky, and well so is my son. I loved the vibe here. It felt more like a place that attracted like minded people to hang out than a hotel just for a nights sleep. Only thing I would suggest is softer towels to compliment the bedding. read more

Fantastic place to stay while in Tucson. We were passing through town for 1 night and came across this hotel. It has been renovated into a art deco style format that was great. There were many different outdoor games to play (cornhole, ping pong, fuse ball, etc). Pool looks amazing and a like a fun place to hang out for the day. They have a beer and wine bar featuring local brands. Also the complimentary breakfast was unique with oatmeal with every topping you would want, pop tarts, and local coffee. One last key point is the staff was super friendly and provided great restraurant and bar recommendations. I would definitely stay here again. read more

First time on yelp! I can't even begin to explain how amazing this hotel is. The staff is amazing, the rooms are beyond clean and so eclectic (they have a chalkboard on the door so you can share your experience!) and the oatmeal and coffee/tea bar is insanity. Bookstore on site and artwork to boot in every room. There is not one complaint I have. I know other reviews, while still high as they should be, notate the loud AC/Heating unit. They have either been corrected or the commenters are light sleepers. The units are fine and remote controlled! I will stay no where else next time I'm visiting- you just can't have a better experience than you do at this hotel. Hi all this is not just a review, This is a testimonial! I stayed here this past Tuesday. I was traveling from east of dallas and needed a place to stay, my wife called them and Boom great customer service over the phone. I get there, I received great service at the desk! now that is well in good.. the true test is the condition of the room. WOW it was great old school with a new clean updated interior.. the bed was very new and very clean! Ac worked extremely well kept the room cool and was quiet! Shout out the the cleaning staff, you see the pride in the rooms keep up the good work. the beer and wine bar was nice relaxing and kool. beer flavor was great. the next morning there is an assortment of additives to put in the tasty oatmeal.. the pool was very clean and the pool area was very nice to sit in for the morning to enjoy the gourmet coffee that you are given.. this place was seriously great! I can see a reoccurring Tiki event on a yearly basics is what envision and a classic trailer meet.... if you want a sweet Retro feel this is the place. if you want to feel the personal pride of a nice updated hotel this is the place!!! it goes together well! go stay enjoy.. this is my go to hotel from now on. not that far for a weekend getaway from LA. thank you everyone read more
