I was very concerned as my friend and I were walking up to the hotel, because directly across the street is a three level transportation bridge/thoroughfare, the likes of which this Arizonan/Floridian has never seen! Well, quite happily, I can say that we heard practically no noise from this monstrosity. We were in room 201 so we were on the street side facing said monstrosity, and if you were an extremely light sleeper, it may bother you. To me, it sounded like a -slightly- louder version of your homes heater clicking on in the middle of the night. So, not very noticeable. The people at the desk always greeted us and were always so helpful. We asked for a steamer and an electric kettle, which really came in handy. Oh, and be sure to make use of the convenience center, downstairs. There is a refrigerator in case you have leftovers or want to maybe buy some milk (and cereal, or yogurt) for your mornings, or whatever. There are also paper cups, plastic silverware and a few other little things that might make your morning / evening a bit nicer. Our room was one of seven on the second floor, and I can honestly say that I heard a door slam or voices in the hallway only briefly and once each. Our room was lovely. Two adult female friends. Two twin beds, a hanging space / open closet system, and a moderately sized bathroom with plenty of hot water, and good water pressure. I would say the only item that was missing, would have been a full body mirror. I expected the room to be cozy, and it was, but it still had enough room for us to negotiate without constantly running into each other. We had an absolute amazing time. Our trip was excellent, and the hotel lived up to its 4.8 star rating. A rather inexpensive choice in a very expensive town. Chinatown might not be everyone's first choice, and it may not have the 'glamour' or 'allure' of "uptown Manhattan", But we enjoyed so many amazing restaurants, wonderful architectural styles and plenty of vintage, consignment and thrift stores nearby. Ooh and be sure to check out the bakery "MichaelI". The banana croissants are really delicious. And Jackie was an amazing host to us during our visits. Ask the front desk for recommendations and they will give you three solid pages worth of great options!! We would absolutely stay here again!

After having called NYC home for 15+ years I never thought I'd stay at a hotel, but business called me back for a few nights and while I wanted something clean and convenient in lower Manhattan, I didn't want to break the bank. Hotel Mimosa to the rescue! Front desk: warm and gracious. Location: About 5 min walking from the East Broadway F or the Grand st B/D. Just one block from a Citibike stop which I ended up using more than I anticipated because it was just easier. Safe area even past midnight. Room: I had a twin room which was no frills but pleasantly clean, the beds were firm, water pressure was good, bathroom clean, and no noise from the Manhattan bridge right out my window. I really enjoyed the view, could open it for fresh air or close it and the triple pane kept it silent as a tomb from the train noise. I do wish there were a dresser or closet, but not much space for that. I asked for an iron which the staff brought up with a full size board. Probably the best budget option I can imagine in Manhattan at $154/night. I might not put your parents up there or stay on a honeymoon, but for an experienced solo traveler or couple looking for a warm and clean stay, look no further.

Excellent staff & exceptional service at the Front Desk However, at $200 a night, the tiny room with peeling paint & missing grout is pricey. Wonder if the Expedia booking increased the price? Cleanliness appears to be good as well. A room that size should have landscape scenery instead of female heads on the wall for artwork. This is of course a female's perspective. I enjoyed the pigeons visiting the ledge outside the window:) The wonderful staff provided helpful suggestions with lists of dining places. Also arranged for great transportation service to the airport.

The hotel will arrange a car from the hotel to LGA (I'm not sure if they also do it from LGA to the hotel but I assume so). $30 plus 15% service. Cash only unless you make an arrangement to pay by credit card in advance.

From the…read moremoment we arrived, it felt less like checking into a hotel and more like family welcoming us into a beautifully curated home in the heart of the city. Traveling during the holidays can be hectic, but the staff at the Park Hyatt made everything feel effortless. Every interaction -- from the front desk to housekeeping to the concierge -- was filled with genuine kindness, patience, and warmth. It was clear they weren't just doing their jobs; they truly cared about making our holiday special. The hotel itself is stunningly elegant yet incredibly comfortable. After long walks through Central Park, returning to our room felt like stepping into a peaceful retreat. The spaciousness, thoughtful details, and quiet luxury made it easy for our family to relax, laugh, and simply be together -- which is what the holidays are really about. We had our first breakfast in New York at the hotel's "the living room" which is located in the lobby. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful with modern decor and stunning 30 foot ceilings. We arrived at 7am as the restaurant just opened and Kamil greeted us with a warm genuine smile. We've stayed at 5 different Park Hyatts in the past 5 years (Kyoto being the most recent) and no one has made us feel as special as Kamil. He has the unique gift of hospitality. He went out of his way to treat us like family and made us feel very special. All of his small gestures, friendly smiles, and thoughtful attention to detail, turned simple moments into special memories. During a season meant for connection and joy, the Park Hyatt delivered both in abundance. Spending Christmas in New York is always special, but spending it at the Park Hyatt New York elevated the experience beyond anything we could have imagined. Our days were spent with full hearts, lasting memories, and deep gratitude for a team that understands true hospitality. This is a place we will return to -- not just for the luxury, but for the people who made us feel so genuinely at home during the most meaningful time of year.

Bonus-it was clean!! The iPad system to control the room is clever: manage the thermostat, tv, blinds/shades and lights. It takes a minute for the iPad to connect (not sure if it's a wifi issue or that these iPads are an older model). Speaking of the thermostat, it kinda worked. I think it shuts off or scales back when there's no movement in the room. I had a hard time getting it cooled down to a good temperature, so I didn't sleep as well as I would have liked. The bed is very comfortable, though...and even with the small space, there are plenty of places to hang clothes and store items. Several outlets and USB charging stations available as well. There aren't any washcloths - just hand/body towels... and it's up to you if you want to have your room lightly cleaned or fully turned over. (See your iPad to make that option). There was only one elevator working, so it could take a few minutes to get your lift up or down. The staff that we engaged with were great. Check in and out were super easy. The lobby is pretty cool and hip. There's a small rooftop bar/lounge and a nice sized food/canteen area in the lobby. The location is outstanding. 50th just off 8th Ave...right in the heart of Times Square and walking distance to many other destinations. I would stay here in the future...2-3 nights is perfect. Just make sure if you're traveling with a companion (and sharing a room) that you REALLY like them.

One thing to note: the hotel sits right above a sports bar, so it can get noisy when there's a game on. The gym was a low point. I stayed at this hotel over the New Years holiday and was thrilled to be so close to Madison Square Garden and Times Square. As was expected, check in was a bit chaotic given the time of year. The ground floor entrance was PACKED with luggage on first arrival. After weaving our way through, we located the check-in desk on the 5th or 6th floor. Tons of people but adequate seating to wait for our room to be ready. An upper floor meant having to figure out their dreaded elevator system. It left something to be desired, to say the least. With only 3 elevators that service the whole of the hotel, and a 4th that goes who knows where, it was almost always a lengthy struggle to catch one. No buttons on the interior of the carriage, all elevators were called with a touchscreen device that seemingly tried to pack as many people as possible into one small space, leaving many behind that couldn't fit, before directing the passengers to another elevator to repeat the whole process over again. One day was so bad, it was actually preferable to walk up the stairs to the 14th floor. Woof. The room itself was wonderful. Spacious, with 2 beds. Very clean. Beautiful view of the city and the arena next door. Great way to catch the sun set. Walk in shower with both an overhead and handheld shower attachment. Great lighting. Shower had heavily frosted glass that faced the bedroom area so be prepared for your silhouette to be on full display for anyone you may be rooming with. Nice sized closet, safe, and mini fridge. Big flat screen television. Window shade worked very well to block out the light if you're hoping to sleep in late. Walls can be a bit thin, especially if you have a rowdy bunch of kids right next door as we did. Aside from the elevators, the perks far outweighed the usual peskier elements (e.g., noise, etc.) one encounters when staying away from home. Would stay here again, perhaps during a less busy time of year, if that's even possible.
