My family attended a wedding reception at the Hotel Shattuck Plaza recently and I must say the venue, catering staff, bartender, and party planner (s/o to Ashley) were fantastic! Our food was served hot, well prepared and it was really tasty! There was ample space in the venue for the wedding guests, bride & grooms table, DJ booth, lighting, dinner buffet, desert bar, coffee bar, and even a bonus room used for a photobooth and gift table. The party space also included a beautiful outdoor patio complete with lighting, and the don't mind if you smoke. All staff members were friendly and accommodating, and by that I'm saying that we were loud as hell, dancing, singing, kids running all around, and nobody complained a bit. Grand entry is lovely, bathrooms very clean, nice bar and eatery on the main floor/lobby. There is sufficient access to amenities for those with disabilities ie: multiple wheelchair ramps. (Double Like) The hotel rooms are small but well put together with updated bathrooms and amenities. No on-site parking is available. The parking garage across the street is lightweight expensive and closes at midnight...my only real complaint. Overall it was a very nice experience. read more

I probably would never pay this amount to stay at a hotel personally, $150 dollars a night. Well maybe if I am Bill Gates or something. But I got to stay here for free when I got to attend a conference. But I am not going to rate this base on price and lower the rating. Location was right in downtown Berkeley near the University and the only hotel probably near there. I never stayed at a fancy hotel and always stayed at 2-3 star rate hotels. The only complaint I had was my room was smaller than most hotel rooms. But I got an HDTV, a fancy desk, not the biggest, but enough for a laptop to fit on. The counter tops are made out of glass too. Anyways the bed was king size and so comfortable and there were so many pillows I could not count. Oh yeah the room had many different output plugs just in case you decided to bring your console like your XBOX 360, Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii. As for the bathroom, it was one of the nicest I been too. The shower was all fancy and the sink too wow it was so cool. Oh yeah one thing that was nice, I got a robe too =) I had to wear it just because it looked nice. The service was top notch. One thing I was not used to was using a card to power up the room. Anyways I ended up leaving the card key in the room and well I locked myself out. So I ended up going down and they replace my key no problem. Oh yeah check out time was at noon, but they actually extended it at 2:30pm. I did not have their food nor drank at the bar, but I am sure it is top notch. My only complaint was my room faced Shattuck...the street noise becoming loud @ times..must confess I enjoyed it some...been over a year since hearing the hustle & busle of an urban area. I'm only giving 3 Stars because the location is great. We came for a concert at The Greek Theatre and the hotel is within walking distance. When we checked in, we were not greeted. Mario checked us in. He barely made eye contact with me and addressed only my husband even though the reservation was in my name and I was paying (anyways). Our cards worked for the elevators but not the room door, we had to go have them re-coded. Just a minor inconvenience. When we got back in after the concert at 11pm our cards again had to be re-coded. Room was small! Only bed and small desk and chair. Bathroom was small with no counter space to get ready. Beds are FIRM. It's an older hotel so there is an obvious "scent", hall floors are creaky and walls are thin. Lots of 3am neighbor noise. Parking is scarce and expensive at the garage across the street. read more

It's hard to know where to start with a review. This was by far my worst stay in any hotel in 30 years of travel. The bed was impossible to sleep in, the rooms were not regularly cleaned - by request only and 24 hours in advance if you want it, and the laundry service caused over 500$ in damage to my clothes by bleaching everything I had given them. That's not even all of the issues presented in the stay. Just a complete nightmare. read more

Unfortunately I can't speak to the quality of the facilities or its location because I didn't get a chance to stay at the hotel. My wife and I had tickets for an opera last month and planned to stay one night. My teenage daughter became ill with strep throat the day before our road trip, which forced us to cancel our plans. I phoned the hotel directly to explain the situation. a Representative told me that I would need to handle the situation through Expedia since it was through the site that I reserved the room. Expedia was all set to refund the room charges, but the hotel wouldn't budge. The hotel would not refund any part of the charges which came to around $250. Impressively, Expedia did provide me with a $100 credit for me to use at a future date. Thank you Expedia. Shame on you Hotel Shattuck Plaza! read more

I came here for a motivational speaking weekend event where Raitis Stalaz, Romeo Marquez Jr., & Tiffany Peterson all spoke. If you don't know who they are, look them up! The 3 day event was held in the ballroom, which has an entrance from the sidewalk. It's conveniently located across the street from a parking garage and walking distance to Berkeley BART. It's right in the downtown area of UC Berkeley's campus. The ballroom was clean and had modern decor. The space was comfortable and the bathrooms were also clean. The bathrooms are near the lobby and restaurant so you have to walk a bit, but it gives you the opportunity to get up and moving. It's a cute space! I can't comment on the cost or customer service since I didn't deal directly with the hotel. I imagine they are pleased with them since they plan to host the event back here in 2017. read more

I'm IN LOVE with this place. From the moment the doors were opened for us, it was cake from there. This property is gorgeous and has so much personality to it. Everything from the lobby, the wall paper, the rooms, the service, it was awesome. The place is amazing and what makes this even more amazing is that it is affordable and close to so many different things! The one and only weird part about this place was the bath room door in our room...the door was some what see through..so better shack up with someone you know very well. I had stayed here in the past. But never before did I almost get mugged. One of the prior times I stayed here, the room stank of cigarettes and I had to switch. This time, my mattress was apparently wet and the sheets damp. But... The Mugging: The hotel has no parking, no valet, nothing. They recommend parking across the street in the public lot. That is your ONLY option. After asking the front desk clerk if it was safe to get my car out in the early morning, she gave me the key to get in and told me it was safe. Unfortunately, when I got over there, all three parking machines were broken. When I pushed the button for assistance, someone finally answered, told me they were sleeping and hung up on me. Next, the metal parking grate went up and I figured it was going to be maintenance. It wasn't. Random car that was parking. The next sight I will never get out of my mind: Two black dudes walking under the gate with a purpose, and headed right for me. This is like 5:45 am, still dark out (my lesson learned on that). I jumped in my car, and drove up into the parking lot, figuring I could outrun them in the lot, and ram them with my car if need be. I tried to phone the police and got no reception. A couple more levels up and I managed to find the guy who had pulled in a few minutes prior. He didn't want to walk out alone because he saw them enter with his car. He worked in the area and had a monthly keycard. We drove out together, never saw those guys again. The hotel clerk's reaction was one along the lines of "Do you think I care, here's the business card of our general manager, we're not responsible for anything that happens in that lot." It took the GM two days to get back to me after two phone messages left, and an email saying "I was almost mugged." He listened to my story, almost as if he didn't believe me. (I have two witnesses) Said he wanted to follow up with me the following week. Did he? Obviously not. Did they compensate me for my trauma? Obviously not. Would I ever stay there again? *Do not stay here.* I called over a week ago to make sure there was parking because I am driving from LA for a specific purpose with a full car, and they confirmed yes that they had a garage. I arrived an hour ago and they said the parking was public in the garage across the street. I tried to cancel the hotel and they said they had a strict 24 hour cancellation policy. I asked the manager Miracle if she could use her discernment and see that this was a special case, as I just booked another hotel with their own parking. She said again, they have a strict 24 hour policy. These people have zero human-ness. read more

This review is long overdue. We got married in Berkeley October of 2017. We got to to the hotel and they told us our room wouldn't be ready for another hour. So a hour later, we go back to check on our room and still not ready. As we were sitting in the lobby talking about how annoyed we are, a manager overheard us say it was our wedding night. She immediately upgraded our room to a 1 bed 2 bath suite (with champagne) and sent us straight up. Thank you Hotel Shattuck for making our wedding night special and memorable. Nicest Downtown Berkeley Hotel -- Awesome Staff It's nice to have a cool pad near all the best amenities, and that's what hotel Shattuck Plaza was for us. It's an easy walk to the Greek Theatre, and the dozens of restaurants, shops, and bars in downtown Berkeley And although the Hotel is nice, with cute rooms, it's the staff that sets it apart. There're so coordinated and happy to greet us with each passing. And roses and chocolate covered strawberries upon entering for our anniversary. My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights last month on a quick shopping trip to Berkeley. I did a lot of checking on the web for a place to stay and one of the things that caught my eye on Shattuck's website was that they would match any internet price (i.e., Orbitz, Expedia, etc.) and they did! While I was surprised at the small size of our room (1 queen bed, see pics), it was larger than many European hotel rooms and probably the way hotels in the US are heading. Not all rooms are as spacious as depicted on their website. It was beautifully decorated and I understand they have done a recent renovation. Everything was very clean, the staff was very helpful and pleasant. It was cheaper to valet park than to worry about garage parking (which doesn't allow for in/out during the day). Starbucks was just around the corner and several places to eat were within walking distance (definitely try the pizza at Jupiter). The university is just blocks away. We felt safe as the elevators only allowed guests using their key card to make the elevator work going up. The only negative was that we would really have liked a mini refrigerator so that we could have beer, wine or snacks in the room--one thing we have learned about Berkeley/San Francisco--they (convenience stores and grocery stores) don't stock styrofoam coolers "off season"--only in the summertime. 3 Reasons to Stay Away From Hotel Shattuck: 1) I woke up at 445a thanks to street cleaning. It was so loud, it sounded like they were vacuuming the hallway... and I'm on the the 5th floor (there are 6). The room comes with earplugs - bad sign. Now I know why. 2) I booked my room using a work card. When I checked in, I was asked SPECIFICALLY for 'a card for $100 incidentals' hold, so I gave them a personal card. The hotel then applied both the entire room charge & the incidentals hold to my card. When I pointed out the mistake, the front desk staff argued with me over semantics and they can't tell me when they'll fix the situation. 3) The lounge and bar area is infested with flies. Not barflies. But actual flies. Disgusting. This is up there as one of the most disappointing/worst hotel experiences I've ever had. If I didn't have work stuff to attend to, I would definitely be switching hotels right now.... and then write this review. read more

I am a very frequent traveler and can give you real advise. Do not stay at this hotel. Here are my issues: I arrived at 9:30 and really wanted dinner and a drink to relax after a long travel day. I was informed there was not valet parking which is not noted on any of the travel sites. I as told to drop my bag in my room and then take my car to the garage across the street. This required going around a long block and weeding through traffic. The garage is well lit but smells of urine. I did not feel safe at all. I rushed back to the hotel. Sat down at the bar at 10:05 and was told they are no longer serving. Not a drink. Not a slide of cake. Nothing. I was told I could get a slice of pizza around the corner. I walked outside and there were so many homeless people, after two asking me for money I walked back a half block to the hotel. I went to the front desk and asked if they had water and menus for delivery. The front desk agent told me yes but the water is $35 a bottle. She had no idea who would deliver. I was clearly upset and she said just kidding, this tiny bottle of water is free. That was the last thing I needed!! I returned to the elevator hungry, one bottle of water that I had to deal with mocking to get and my key did not work. I went back to the desk and the clerk laughed at me. The room floors smell like a nursing home and in the room the smell is strong and irritating. You cannot control the air. The beds are hard and I can feel the springs. The street noise if loud at 5am. The furniture in the room is not attractive. You get one bath towel. This hotel was the same price as the 5 star resort in the area but I like to expletive boutique hotels. I clearly made a huge mistake as the other hotel has services, food and plush rooms. I am seriously so let down. I think the others who left glowing reviews are so enamored with Berkley that they let a lot of things go. My problems with this place are basic and very easy to solve but no one seems to care. Including the manager. read more

I live in Berkeley. But when we had work done on our place we had to find a place to stay for 2 days. My grandfather worked at this hotel for over 30 years as a bell boy and elevator operator. So for me personally I wanted our stay to be here. Glad we did. Throughly enjoyed the staff, the rooms the fitness center and the bar. read more

The key to finding a good hotel these days is online research. I was looking for a hotel to spend a romantic night with someone special. We were going to be in the Berkeley area and thought it would be more fun to stay in a hotel instead of returning to the city late at night. So after a whole lot of research, I narrowed it down to a few hotels and the boyfriend picked the Hotel Shattuck Plaza. This hotel is full of charm. It was recently redone, the paint is new and the decor is modern and stylish. Black and white tiled floors and red glass chandeliers create a stunning contrast in the hotel lobby, it made a great first impression on me. But what I love, is that it is still an old hotel. The vintage dials on the elevator are beyond charming. So, after checking in, we headed to our room, which was as I expected, small. But most historic hotels in this area are small, so I knew what I was getting into. The room was equipped with a plush king sized bed, a flat screen TV, a comfortable sitting chair and a desk for anyone that needed to get a little work done. The bathroom was not too small, I love the bowl sinks, although I would have liked a little more counter space. The room was very clean, cleverly decorated and the view from our room was awesome. Our room even had an iPod alarm radio, which was convenient and actually worked with the iPhone. Check out time was 12pm, but they were kind enough to allow us to stay until 1:30pm without an extra charge. The concierge was great, she helped us find a perfect restaurant in a matter of minutes and was spot on with her suggestions. The location is close to many restaurants and shops, and is conveniently across the street from the train station making it really accessible. If I need to stay in Berkeley again, I will be back here without question. read more

My wife and I stayed there recently and forgot a personal item of importance and when we returned to ask for it the night after our stay, we knew getting it back from lost and found was slim as housekeeping was probably off duty. Lyna went above and beyond to get our personal item back even though it took her 20 min or so to figure out how to get it. Wow, I don't know what happened, but my review for this place suddenly disappeared. It saddens me that Yelp would remove this completely legitimate review. I will paraphrase my previous review because I don't have the exact wording anymore. Also, my complaints are for the current ownership, not the previous ones. I reserved a block of rooms for my wedding. My husband and I signed a contract and they guaranteed us the rooms for our out of town guests. When my mother called to book her room, she was informed that the hotel would be closed for renovation. The hotel never contacted us nor told us that the hotel would be closed. Had our guests not told us, we would not have known. Of course, by the time we found out, the Cal football schedule had been set and there was a big game that weekend. It was very difficult to find a place nearby that would take us as most places in town were already completely booked. We tried to plan ahead for our event but this place really screwed us over and caused unnecessary stress. I would avoid this place at all costs. Just to clarify, this incident occurred after the hotel was sold (more than 2 years ago). It was the "new" owners that did this. read more

I am a fan of Hotel Shattuck Plaza. It is a high end hotel that is weirdly situated in the heart of downtown Berkeley, which is filled with homeless folks. Often booked by big companies to conduct on-campus recruiting, it is also a block away from the Cal campus. First of all, the hotel itself is huge, but there is only one elevator. This means if you didn't request a room right next to the elevator, you'll end up walking a whole lot to get to your room, especially the ones that faces Shattuck (better view). In addition, because downtown Berkeley is very loud, and street music goes on until late at night, you NEED to be on a higher floor. Trust me, give up the shattuck street scene and get yourself some peace and quiet on the 5th floor. Although guest rooms were small, amenities were abundant and of good quality. On top of that, services were awesome. The only two downsides of this hotel were: 1. homeless people outside of the hotel who tend to harass pedestrians, and 2. lack of hotel parking. Parking structure next to the hotel charges $35 per night, but if you are traveling to the bay area for work and all other hotels are booked, Hotel Shattuck Plaza is a real nice alternative. I was a little leery of staying at the Shattuck because of the fact that the hotel was recently renovated, the relatively low cost of only $118 for a Thursday night stay and the name sounded strange and odd. Most other major hotel brands in the area were in the $150-$200 range. Anyway the Shattuck was the most conveniently located hotel to where I had to be on UC Berkeley's campus the following 8:30am morning for a conference. It was only one BART station away or a little more than a 1 mile walk to my conference. As I exited the downtown Berkeley BART station I could almost immediately gained sight of the hotel, which is impressive from the outside. I was equally impressed by the lobby and bar area, which shouted local boutique hotel. Check-in was smooth and the attended recommended some local student hangouts for my consideration. You need your key card to use the elevator to access your floor. I felt very safe here. The evidence of their remodeling continued as I walked down to my requested end of the hallway room 553. My corner room had two very large windows so lots of light was apparent, which I liked as opposed to a darkened room. Unfortunately my view was not very nice. They were of the roof top air conditioning units below. My room was very small, the bed was only a double-sized bed and the flat screen HTDV was only 32-inch. The bath room was somewhat updated, but, equally small, but, with a very nice boutique style terrycloth robe hanging on the doorway for my use. There was a stall shower, but, not tub. Check out my pic of the rather unique doughnut soap. I am still trying to figure out what to do with the doughnut hole after I used up thy soap. The bathroom marble floor seemed worn and had a crack. I assume they did not update the bathroom floor. All in all I really liked the convenience of the hotel. Starbucks was right around the corner for my morning coffee and check-out went smoothly. We hosted a dinner for out-of-town guests at our daughter's wedding, the evening before the event. We were in the Whitecotton room and the entire experience was outstanding! From the food, the service, the seating and the view, it was all a perfect lead-up to the glorious wedding that followed the next day. My gracious parents put me up in Hotel Shattuck over the weekend so that they could actually spend my graduation weekend with me, instead of spending it driving between Berkeley, Vacaville, and San Francisco. My parents have both stayed at Hotel Shattuck before (I used to live really close to it in Berkeley), but this was my first time spending the night. Hotel Shattuck is exactly what Downtown Berkeley needed. While there are plenty of modest hotel rooms down University that I didn't mind spending the weekend at back when I was investigating coming to grad school and apartment hunting, they weren't places nice enough for my parents. The Claremont Resort is a bit farther from public transit and campus, and staying in San Francisco is a pain when we're in Berkeley most of the weekend. Hotel Shattuck solves all of these problems by being a nice, reasonably priced hotel right by BART. They even have a special rate if you're reserving the room for a UC Berkeley event. I really love the modern decorations at Hotel Shattuck. Each hallway has a different paint theme, and all of them are equally cool. The lobby area is spacious despite sharing a relatively small space with the hotel restaurant, Five. The rooms vary in size, and some of them are a little bit on the smaller side. Luckily, the have many modern amenities, such as a huge flat-screen TV and more outlets than I could count, and the rooms were big enough for 2 people. I just wouldn't want to try to squeeze in a 3rd person on a rollaway bed. The service at the front desk was great, even though the hotel was completely full and very chaotic over graduation weekend. My mom wanted to go into San Francisco to shop last Sunday, and the front desk guy spent quite a long time explaining the Bay to Breakers race route and how we could best avoid the traffic. We stayed at Hotel Shattuck one night during the Northwestern v. Cal game over Labor Day 2013. We actually booked our Saturday night stay the day beforehand. After having dinner at Jupiter across the way, we popped over to Hotel Shattuck to see if they happened to have any remaining availability. Lucky for us, we were able to check out of the La Quinta three miles away & book Hotel Shattuck for game night. Honestly, the best part about this hotel is the staff. We interacted with Tracy on Friday night. He was super friendly & overly accommodating by helping us hook up with the Northwestern special rate AND a AAA rate. Then on Saturday morning we were allowed to leave our bags in storage for the afternoon until the 3pm check in. Upon check in, we were upgraded from a double bed to a king bed at no extra charge! The bed was super comfy, the sheets were clean & soft, the shower head had good pressure. I don't have any complaints about this place, except that if we hadn't had two special rates available to us (plus a last-minute check-in) then we wouldn't be able to afford staying here. If you can afford it, don't stay anywhere else in Berkeley! read more

The attention to detail and service we received were excellent! The hotel is clean and quiet. Our room had a king sized bed with a nice warm down comforter. We had nice comfy bathrobes waiting for us. The flat screen is also a nice touch. There is free wi-fi for people that can't stand being out of touch for more than a few minutes. Our room had an iHome radio, which was a life saver since we forgot our iPhone chargers (gasp!) When we arrived, we were immediately greeted, and Eric put us in a room with a nice view facing the hills. He explained the room power (you have to insert your key card into a slot to turn the power on in the room) and gave us the wi-fi password. Both check-in and check-out were pleasant and efficient. We ate at Five Restaurant in the lobby, which was also excellent. We didn't have a reservation and ended up eating in the bar. They suggest making dinner reservations at least a week early. The parking garage across the street charges $14/day M-F and $5/day on the weekends. It is closed and locked up overnight, so don't plan on getting to your car at 3 a.m. The BART station is right across the street. Next time we stay here, we may just park on the outskirts and take BART in. There are several restaurants and bars within easy walking distance. The room pricing was outstanding! For a Saturday night, we ended up paying about $130 including taxes. I have stayed in $250 hotels that weren't half as nice. read more

I will never stay anywhere else in Berkeley for as long as I keep coming up to visit. Never. The Shattuck Hotel is my home away from home. Everything makes you feel so luxurious and spoiled. This time around I stayed in a business suite, so it was slightly smaller than last time, but it was still perfection. Have a Moscow Mule at the bar downstairs. If you need anything, seek out Kingsley, Kevin, or this INCREDIBLY handsome dark-haired young man at the door/front desk whose name I didn't catch (damn!). Gorgeous, spacious bar/restaurant area. (see photos) The high-contrast black and white decor give it a very modern feel. I can imagine Green Day or Franz Ferdinand, for example, walking in and looking right at home here. I love how the bar is a wraparound oval so you can see right across to your fellow bon vivants living it up in downtown Berkeley. The cocktails are fresh and refreshing after a hot day in the east bay, especially the Moscow Mule and basil gimlet. They do a fine Manhattan as well, with the ever-popular booze-infused cherries. Gracious host, delicious appetizers, (corn chowder, goat cheese, (?) and orzo especially) were all uniquely satisfying. Very classy place. Loved the decor! = The front desk staff and doormen/bellmen were absolutely amazing / helpful, attentive, friendly and courteous. A++ = Food = delicious! Cons: = We hosted a large 1-day meeting here for our customers, with our employees staying at the hotel. The event planning team did not put those of us that were marked as VIPs in the specified rooms.. = The room was not ready when specified so we could finish setup (meant we had to stay up til 1am finishing the set-up) = The staff working the event were annoyed with any request we made, not friendly or helpful at all = Overall a feeling of being a pain to the hotel for giving them thousands of dollars to host our event Bottomline: If you want to stay here for a personal vacation stay, you are likely to have a terrific experience. For business purposes, they need to majorly step up to the plate and fix so many things that are broken! read more

Hidden in downtown Berkeley. In the middle of Cal Berkeley and Berkeley High, surrounded by lots of coffee cafes and restaurants. Used Hotel Shattuck for meeting space. Decent spot to hold a meeting. Recently modeled makes the hotel much nicer. Meeting space could you a little remodeling but the lobby and FIRST restaurant are pretty cool. Saw a few suites and all were nicely remodeled with bright red walls an flat screen tvs. Modern style. Parking was my only issue. No valet and parking is down the street in a city parking garage that gets full and takes forever to get out of if you're leaving during commute hours. read more

All things considered, you probably can't do better that Hotel Shattuck Plaza when staying in Berkeley. My room was very nicely appointed if a bit on the small side. The room wasn't uncomfortably small, just a bit on the small side by modern standards. The hotel was constructed in 1910, so rooms smaller than the rooms one finds in modern hotels are to be expected. Don't be put off by the age. The rooms have obviously been renovated with modern bathroom fixtures, lighting, windows, etc. The front desk staff were without exception welcoming and friendly. There were a couple of glitches during check in, but they were promptly remedied. The location cannot be beat. The Downtown Berkeley BART station is practically spitting difference from the hotel's lobby doors as is a Walgreens with an enormous variety of goods. A number of very good restaurants are also within easy walking distance. The proximity to the BART station is a huge plus in my book. Wanna go to San Francisco? It's just 5 stops away starting with the Embarcadero BART station. Other reviewers have mentioned the lack of hotel provided parking. I found this to be a minor inconvenience. There is a paid parking structure directly across the street, and you can park for free on Sundays starting at midnight on Saturday and on holidays. read more

What a great hotel choice for a productive business trip to Berkeley this week! The Hotel Shattuck Plaza is ideally located at the corner of Shattuck and Allston, walking distance to many great restaurants and businesses. It has been beautifully renovated and the rooms feature modern ammenties desirable for both business and leisure traveler alike: free WiFi throughout hotel including in each individual guest room, flat screen TV mounted on wall which saves space as the rooms were a little on the smaller side, so not having a piece of furniture protrude in the room just to hold a TV was great. The bed was extremely comfortable with beautiful crisp white linens and the bathroom was reasonably spacious and well appointed. The service was memorable: Gina at the front desk checked me in and helped with walking directions later and she was a great ambassador for the property with her friendly and professional style. Only downside is that the parking situation is less than ideal: the hotel does NOT offer valet or onsite parking of any kind. You must park in a public garage across the street. Although the overnight rate was reasonable enough ($14), it was a pain to have to source your own parking in an offsite garage. Offering valet service even at an upcharge would be a nice upgrade and frankly expected at a property of this level. read more

Wasn't sure what to expect based on the comments from others at my office that described as 'quaint'. Well, they're definition of 'quaint' is a lil off b/c I found it more contemporary swank. The lobby is decoreated in black/white/marble but when the elevator doors opened to my hotel room floor, the wall paint was bright and the carpets were colorful. The front desk staff were extremely personable and made check in a breeze. The fitness center is more like a converted room with 2 treadmills, 1 elliptical, a free weight set & bench, and a water cooler. The aerobic equipment has small flat screens mounted on them. When I was in there by myself, I imagined it'd be far too crowded if there were 2 others with me... My room had a giant flat screen, alarm clock with an iPod dock, and a comfy king sized bed with white down comforter. I slept almost as well as I do in my own bed @ home. When I arrived home after my 1st full day, the maid had taken all of my electronic cords & wound them up neatly, organizing my belongings in neat rows. She/he even stacked my makeup and placed my makeup accessories in a glass cup so they weren't laying down on the dresser. The final touch was a rose made out of tissue on my tissue box. This attendant(s) went beyond cleaning. She/he wanted me to experience a little piece of happiness that came in the form of a smile after an extremely long day. This is only day 1 of my 4-night stay & I've not been disappointed. read more

Pretty nice place overall, with the highlight definitely being the staff -- some of the friendliest and most helpful hotel staff I've ever encountered. Room was tidy and had up-to-date, comfortable furnishings. Only real complaint is the decision to give the bathroom a sliding door, even for multi-bed rooms. Kind of weird, but by no means a dealbreaker. Would definitely consider staying here again! read more
