    Delicious food with beautiful presentation

Let's start with the good. Food and drinks are excellent especially Geraldine's. Service at restaurant was also amazing. Check-in was easy and they give you a free margarita. The bad. Biggest downfall is they allow public purchase access to the pool. So if you're with your family staying here, you won't get a seat at the pool unless you get here by 9 am to snag a chair. My first day sucked because all I wanted to do was relax and get a tan. All I could do was stand around towel in hand Wasted day. Their loss because I went back upstairs, changed, and went and spent my money on Rainey st rather than at the pool. Day two got a chair but the pool area is pretty dirty. Murky pool and food drippings all over the ground. Music at pool is great and so are the food and drinks. Room was very basic. Stains all over velvet seating and sink is backing up but I'm not wasting my time to wait for maintenance, I paid to relax so trying to ignore. Over stocked mini bar, no room for your personal food/bev. So I took it all out and put it on the counter. Rainey street is walkable and gorgeous, highly recommend going down there for a stroll and some fun. To sum up, I recommend they pull public pool Access, your pool area is too small for that extra buck. And if you see furniture in the room is stained, clean it or replace it. First impressions are super important

I stayed here 3 nights recently for a work event and Hotel Van Zandt is a gorgeous boutique hotel! All the staff I interacted with was friendly and helpful especially for our work event. They were on point replenishing our beverage stations and anything we needed at all they were there to assist us. Breakfast and lunch at Geraldine's (on the 4th floor) was fantastic. The restaurant is beautiful and they have the best scrambled eggs ive ever had in my life. The only thing that really bugged me during my stay was not having a shower door or shower curtains in the bathroom. it's the style of course .....but water was getting everyone on the floor which was super annoying. Lastly, the location is great! Just a few steps away from the nightlife on Rainey Street!

    Tiny

Bathroom!! The sliding door is ridiculous. Weighs a ton!!!!and has a small baby undersized "handle". It's not even a handle. Can't imagine an elderly guest trying yo close/open it. Half shower door so water soaks the tub towel. But it doesn't stop there. No cabinets or shelves in the shower area to set your toiletries or phone or whatever. The shower head is stationary- so don't be getting too dirty in Austin. The delivered iron worked on a small board despite a broken button. Great location surrounded by construction. So-- there are others close by. I did not compare rates so tough to know of the comparative value. Jus depends what you're looking for. But is has great vibe, great people, and a pretty good location. 2026 may be better.

Such a great boutique hotel. Every decor detail was well thought out and was music themed. Friendly staff and nice accommodations.

Giving 4 stars only because it's not what it could be and it's ALMOST there! Hotel Stay/Cabanas and pool Hotel Staff and service - 5/5 This was honestly the best part of our stay! They made our stay so easy and special for my husbands birthday! We were welcomed with a complementary beverage of our choice (beer), and they were very helpful when our booking wasn't confirmed is email. Value- they had a great summer special for locals so this was perfect for our staycation. Hotel Room- (this is whet it goes down a star for me) the room itself was good but we got a "pool view" on the top floor and the view was lacking. We had to look straight down to see the pool and all we really saw was the dirt lot next door with cranes. I imagine once it's done all you'll really see is other high rises and a partial view of the lake. Would recommend they change the " view" description to be more transparent especially if charging a premium rate. Cabana and Pool- We rented 2 cabanas for my husband's birthday. It was a bit wonky that you had to book it through a different service so it wasn't very convenient having to be transferred around for service questions. All in all it was fun and very closely monitored for wristbands so that added security was very helpful and loved that it wasn't crowded. Grant it- 30 of those spaces were reserved for us. Great service at the cabanas. Pricey but we expected that. Two minuses for me at the pool- 1- they didn't have Michelob ultra or Dos Equis which is a very typical drink for by the pool. (Was pretty disappointed) 2- There was a lot of construction noise going on while we were at the pool and was not very relaxing Of

The Hotel Van Zandt has always been my stopping post during downtown walks and during SXSW. It's a great place the get some rest in the lobby and enjoy refreshments at the Cafe 605. The place has great atmosphere with its eccentric industrial appeal. For Memorial Day I decided to stay here for two nights with my wife to enjoy the entertainment at Rainey Street and at the hotel pool. I wanted to check-in early before 4:00 PM so I called the hotel directly and was able to upgrade to a suite. It was called the Frank Boulder Aux Suite. I recommend this room where you are located on the top floor with views of both the Lady Bird Lake and Rainey Street. The room also has a separate bedroom and living area with a big bathing the middle with a huge standalone tub. It was well worth it. Upon checkin we were provided two free drinks where I selected grapefruit sparking water and a local beer. Great hospitality has always been a focal point even when I attend a conference here years ago. The room had the usual offerings like snacks and a mini bar (refrigerator) for purchase, with special items like bath salts for the tub. The bed was very comfortable and the air controls worked very well. I reserved a cabana by the pool (will need to use ResortPass to reserve) which turned out very nice to have a dedicated place to sit and away from the sun, plus it ended up very crowded. The food and drinks were very good. It included some free cold water bottles. However the pool was a bit cold but took a while to get used to. The reservation was for the whole day. I used the parking valet where they had their own underground parking garage. Overall it was a fantastic stay.

At first, this hotel appears to be a 5 Star hotel and really radiates the feeling of luxury. The entrance and lobby area are beautiful, the location is great and the hotel is incredibly dog friendly ... I loved seeing all the dogs each day. The hotel offers a 5-6pm social hour held in the lobby with free margaritas, wine and beer which is a fun touch and a great way to meet other visitors. Another plus for this hotel is the cute cafe and nice restaurant that they have inside. Our room was very nice and had a pool view, but seemed to have all sorts of noises night and day. Whether it be the constant sound of water running or loud music... you're never getting a nice quiet space. Additionally, things seemed to be broken too frequently (handle/flusher of the toilet, ironing board, etc). For the higher price, I didn't expect so many nuances. Other things I didn't love about the hotel were: 1) Additional $59/night for parking is a bit outrageous (we chose to park in a nearby parking garage) 2) We waited for the cleaning person to make up our room and by 5pm it still hadn't been done. At that point, we just gave up on them doing it. 3) They didn't have enough carts during check in times and offer no help for unloading (even if you're willing to pay for the service) 4) Our friends who did valet had to wait 1hr 20min to get their car ... unacceptable. All in all, the location is great but I think there are other hotels that may be a better option for my next trip.

I have always enjoyed the uniqueness of each IHG hotel that I have visited and this one didn't disappoint. Everything about this boutique hotel feels warm, welcoming and comfortable. They definitely go out of their way to make such a large hotel feel a lot like home. I love the fact that they embrace the music scene, from the live music down to the custom light fixtures, this place has a great vibe. The coffee shop off of the lobby has a lot to offer, as does the restaurant and bar located on the 4th floor. Unfortunately, the one evening I wanted a drink by the pool, they closed for a private event. One thing I noticed along the pool deck were the igloos they set up, each one equipped with comfortable seating, blankets, games and music. Although, I didn't take advantage, I could imagine a family fun night. The staff are phenomenal and the complimentary happy hour in the lobby is a great way to start off the evening and meet new friends. I thoroughly enjoyed drinks by the fireplace while listening to the great selection of music. This hotel is ideally located within walking distance or a very short uber ride of more than enough amenities and with Rainey Street being right around the corner, I highly doubt you will be bored. Everything about this hotel is great, we will return to Austin, and this is where we will stay. Cheers!

Amazing brunch experience from the eggs Benny, to the jazz band, and mimosas! Very great bar and service was top notch!

    Alena B.

Came on a Friday. They do live music and change bands sometimes. Chill atmosphere. The drinks are overpriced (by drink I mean the mocktails cost the same as alcoholic beverages) If you're looking to check out the rooftop pool, go during the day and book Resort Pass

We also dined at Nido, the hotel's restaurant, for both dinner and breakfast, and it was definitely a highlight. Located on the topmost floor, Nido offers stunning views of the river and downtown Austin. With both indoor and outdoor seating, the ambiance is elegant and ideal for a special evening. During our visit, we saw a couple of groups celebrating birthdays and wedding anniversaries, which shows how perfect this place is for special occasions. The pricing is on the higher side, but it matches the upscale experience and beautiful setting. For dinner, we ordered the Burrata as an appetizer and the Autumn Garden for the main course, along with an American IPA and a Jack Frost cocktail. Everything was delicious, but the Burrata truly stood out as my favorite. Breakfast was equally enjoyable--we had custom-made omelettes with veggies and avocado toast, both fresh and flavorful. Overall, The Loren Hotel, along with Nido, offers a great blend of comfort, excellent food, and a beautiful atmosphere. The Friday night gathering was amazing. It was a perfect setting on the eight floor to talk, mingle, and meet new people. The evening was warm enough to go outside on the balcony/deck and have conversations and enjoy a breeze. The room itself is large with a water station and a bar. A few short tables were set up for sitting and a few tall ones for standing. They had a nice selection of drinks from beer and wine to mixed drinks. The food included lobster rolls, sliders (chicken and beef), a tray of different veggies and dips, little balls of cheese and something, and aroncini? My favorite was canapés of Mellon and prosciutto. The saltiness of the prosciutto added to the flavor of the melon. This event was 5***** I blame the architect for the room setup. Why would you put bedrooms on the side of a hotel next to traffic. The noise, honking and sirens. It finally quieted down around 11:30. Saturday was also an issue. They do provide ear plugs and sound machines, neither works for me. I was also surprised there was no lotion in the room. There was no microwave. Everything else in the room was top notch. Robes, slippers, a safe, a bar, and fridge. Overall, the noise is what created the 3*** rating. That was very disappointing.
