Not staying here again. I normally stay next door at the Fairfield and never have a bad experience but thought I'd switch it up this time to see what the Cambria was like. I checked in and was asked "would you like daily housekeeping?" To which I said "yes". I was here for work and gone every morning by 8 am, not back until 5 at the earliest. Housekeeping never came for the entire week I was here. Not a big deal but annoying to have to wait for towels (25+ mins) after a long work day I went down the hall to my coworkers room and was walking back to mine and was stopped by a security guard who interrogated me as if I was lying about staying in the hotel room. His tone was condescending and the accusations were immediate, something I do not appreciate. Cambria is listed on its parent hotel's website as the "luxury" tier. There was feces in the toilet when I checked in, dirt and hair in the shower, and dust all over the room. How luxurious! Parking at every other hotel on this street is self park, @$45 a night. Here its valet only at $75 a night. Don't let the website (says that other options around are more expensive) trick you. You can park next door in a nicer hotel for much cheaper. I went to the bar night one to grab a glass of wine and a burger, the bartender forgot to give me wine after I ordered it, disappeared, then sat in the chair 3 seats down from me scrolling on her phone until I asked "sorry can I get the wine I ordered?" Rip the Cambria logo off and don't be fooled, this is a struggling Hampton Inn at best. read more

This hotel has a lot of great potential to be a 5-star lodging destination, but what comes down to it is they have a habit of double and even triple charging your card. You have to be very watchful of your credit card statement. I only stayed here for two nights and prepaid for my stay. The first day, I checked my card after check in and they billed me $331. Out of nowhere, I immediately went downstairs to the lobby on the 5th floor and asked them about that. They told me that was due to incidentals which is $75 per night and that the charge would fall off once I check out. By check out, I had another charge on my card for $136. I ask them about this and they said it was for valet. Valet is $57 per night. Just to park a vehicle they charge this and yet you're still expected to tip the valet even though they charge so much for valet. Anyways, I had to get them to put that charge on another card so it wouldn't show on the folio (for work purposes). As I'm driving back home, I checked my credit card app again and saw that Cambria charged my card for $123. I already paid for the room and didn't need to pay again. I called them and was told that they accidentally charged my card, but within 5 days the charge would fall off. Overall, beautiful hotel with spacious rooms, beautiful view, and extremely soft beds with pillows. The room was immaculately clean. The shower door did get stuck and was hard to pull to close, but I had to pull it hard and it closed without the glass breaking. The couch was hard as a brick and too far away from the television. Motion sensor lights was a cool touch. I kept the temperature on 69 cold and the room remained icy cold throughout my stay. Valet was nice and quick. It was a tad bit noisy on my last night, but I had in my headphones to drown out the sound. Everyone at the front desk was polite. I didn't try the restaurant on site. I didn't eat breakfast because I don't eat at that time. By the way, breakfast isn't complimentary. After all the unnecessary headaches of them being money hungry draining of my card, this is my last stay at any and all Cambria Hotels. As it does seem to be a common theme. read more

Very beautiful and modern hotel in Austin, Texas. This was my second time staying at this hotel and this time it was even a better experience. Customer service was amazing and they gave me a beautiful city view room. The breakfast was amazing in quality and the breakfast staff were truly kind. Valet was also awesome. The location this hotel is also prime being in the heart of rainy street. However unfortunately the hotel charged me twice as I had to use two different cards at the end and it's been a huge challenge now trying to get my refund for the double charge from the hotel and the choice hotel team. Hubby and I were looking for a stay getaway and yes staycation is always a good idea and even better when you find a beautiful place to stay! I enjoyed this hotel. Very comfortable stay and the decor is so modern! The hotel is beautiful as soon as you walk in from valet and then head up to the main lobby. So close to downtown and 6th Street where all the fun is also easy freeway access. The front desk staff were very friendly. We wanted to switch rooms the next day due to a better view of the city! Which was well worth it the only thing is you do hear all of the downtown activities so it is loud we didn't mind it just a heads up but the staff do provide earplugs. We did have a problem with the heater it took about 3-4 hours for the room the warm up we had to get assistance. Overall stay was beautiful we didn't get to check out the restaurant inside and the bar closed fairly early. I would recommend staying and would come back for another small weekend getaway with hubby. read more

Although an ideal location, during our stay they had issues with the AC that affected the entire hotel. It was a loud constant cranking from the lobby floor all the way through the rooftop bar. It didn't stop us from exploring the hotel, but it did affect being able to enjoy the views on the rooftop. The pool is quite small and it was really busy on the weekend we went (mid June) so we weren't able to enjoy that much either. It's more for adults drinking and lounging rather than for kids to play. The staff were friendly and nice to talk to throughout our stay. We love the area and will be back again, but probably will try a different place to stay next time. read more

My husband and I stayed here for four days and it was so wonderful! The food is absolutely delicious! The staff is friendly, the only issue I had was at the bar. They only have one bartender/ server working and of course it took long to get our drinks because it was getting crowded and she was the only one there. A solid hotel with decent amenities right next to Rainey Street. Rooms are modern and updated, kept clean and tidy. In-room amenities are standard and well maintained. Shower water pressure could be a little bit better (we were on the 11th floor), but we felt well rested and comfortable during our stay. Parking is pretty expensive, so if you're renting a car, this may be a challenging place to stay. Back when Rainey Street was much more exciting/vibrant (before all of the high rises were built), this location would give you prime walking-distance access to those bars/restaurants. While there are still a decent number of bar/restaurants available, you may end up traveling a bit farther regardless to meet w/ friends or have a meal. Swimming pool is nice and well maintained (5th floor). Restaurant hours are very limited with very limited bar hours as well. Front desk staff was very hit-or-miss. We had one front desk gal that couldn't care less about the job, and several other ones that were enthusiastic and happy to help. Prices are moderate/high for reserving rooms during the weekends. Would overall recommend. read more

I cannot remember what made me choose this hotel, but boy, am I glad I did. You can literally book this hotel and have a wonderful resort style feeling in the middle of downtown Austin. It has two bars and a beautiful outside pool that features ample seatings and lounge chairs. The restaurant was beautiful but a bit confusing. I got chicken and waffles but they had no syrup. At first I was a little annoyed at this until I bit into it. Listen, my little delight when I travel is to try different restaurant's chicken and waffles to see the differences and to rate them. Over the years, I have tried countless of restaurant's chicken and waffles. This was the best hands down chicken and waffles I've ever had! It did not need a drop of syrup. The bacon my husband had was burnt but everything else was good. The cost of the breakfast was reasonable. The staff was amazing and gave us assistance when we needed it. The best thing about this hotel is that there's beautiful restaurants right behind it! And it's only a few minutes walk to the active part of downtown Austin. I have now made it my decision that this is the hotel I will always stay at when visiting Austin! read more

Great hotel but it is near a freeway so if noise bothers you when you're sleeping you might want to ask to be on a side not facing the freeway (my friend thought it was loud but it didn't bother me). *During check in time they offered us free beer or hard seltzer which I thought was pretty cool. *Our room was spacious and clean. *The location of this hotel is a 5 minute walk to rainy street. From our hotel room we could see how lively it gets and what time to join in on the fun. It's a street filled with bars, food trucks and restaurants. Highly recommend. read more

During a recent stay at the Cambria my truck was broken into and about $2K worth of tools, scanners, googles and sun glasses were stolen overnight while my car had been parked in the lot. When I questioned the hotel on surveillance they told me they had none. They were very rude and disrespectful. Just because I'm young, don't mean they should disrespect me. Feels like an inside job, if u ask me. They offered no help nor called the authorities. I have never stayed in a hotel that does not have both interior and exterior surveillance - especially as this particular weekend there car valued at well over a million dollars in the lot I'm surprised there is no surveillance. I should have stayed at one of the many Bonvoy/Marriott properties - which I did during my next stay - the ALoft has exterior surveillance. read more

We stumbled upon this hotel and thank goodness we did! Talk about clean, friendly, and overall top notch experience! Everything is new and modernized. Maiah, at the front desk was super friendly and informative. The only downside is parking. You have to pay $50 for valet parking , even though we could have parked across the street, but we were told it's not public parking and police officers were giving tickets to people who parked there. ‍ If it wasn't for valet parking being the so called "only option," would have gave a 5+ Star review! Regardless, my family of 4 will definitely stay here again! read more

The hotel is nice, however it is next to a highway and a little far from everything else. In addition, there were stains on my sheets. It also seems as if someone came into my room that wasn't for room service 2-3 hours after checking in. I kept my doors locked just in case at night. Otherwise, service is great. The rooms are nice but they don't take care to make sure all the bulbs are working. If you get a high floor, make sure to ask for a room not facing the highway. Also, do not try to get any service from the front desk. They are pretty inept and useless. Most of them will not even try to help you. The ones that do, are sweet, but I don't think they are trained well as they don't seem to know what they are doing. If you're looking for a decent room downtown, near everything, aren't bringing a car (it's valet only and they charge $50 a night), and don't care about customer service, or lack thereof, then this is a decent place. read more

I wasn't a big fan of this hotel.I didn't like how the room wasn't really clean. Stains on the bed sheets, mold in the shower, hair on the shower walls, the refrigerator wasn't working. I went to the front desk and let them know my concerns and they were very professional and apologetic. They made it right and addressed my concerns. The location of the hotel does suck. It's literally next to the highway and there's homeless people every where. Well where do I begin! This was our first time in Austin and we got in an early flight so we decided to check out the bar to lose some time. The guy at the bar couldn't even make any of the drinks we ordered, when we decide to order just a plain whiskey I asked if he could just add ice to it and he said yes, he poured our drinks and no ice. I asked again for ice and still nothing (just plain ice ). I still waited and nothing so my boyfriend decided to tell him again and yet nothing. It wasn't even busy it was only my boyfriend and I at the bar at the time. We decide to just close out. Even closing out took forever! No one around he took off for a min and waited at least 15 for him to be back to close us out. Besides their check in being later than a normal hotel check in we still didn't get checked in on time. It was past 4pm and nothing. They kept checking other people in and the guy in the front desk kept telling us they were short staffed ( how is this my problem). By the time he decided to check us in he charged us again on a reservation that was already paid for smh. We checked in on Thursday and on Friday we requested a maid to come in and do the sheets and new towels we never got any of that. On Saturday I asked again for the same service and fresh towels never got anything. I called front desk and told them and the girl in front desk apologized and said it would get done and still nothing. Sunday morning comes and again nothing. At this point it didn't matter as we were going to check out already. When we got to the front desk to check out no one even asked about the stay as I am sure they knew they sucked at the accommodations. The entire time of our stay I didn't see one maid around or we didn't get any of the services we needed. This sucks because the hotel itself is nice but they are beyond not ready to host any guest. This place needs better managing and hotel services experience. I can say this much I been to many hotels and this is beyond the worst experience I have had. I would not recommend this place or be coming back to this hotel. Sucks they are in a great location but the service was a 1. I would consider other properties around the area even if it's a bit more. Please pay more but don't consider this hotel. read more

hotel was nice but having to pay an additional $60 for valet parking is ridiculous, especially when you have to park the car yourself because there is no attendant who can drive a manual transmission car. And no one informed my son he was being charged for this service he did not receive. Then being told that because you parked in their staging area, where you were told to park, you get charged and they are the cheapest in Austin. Who goes to a hotel and expects to pay $60 to park your vehicle on top of room charges, why isn't this park of the room charge if you have no choice? Then you can decide if you want to pay $200 for the room or find a different place where you pay $140? read more

We had such an amazing , customer oriented experience from the staff during our time in Austin. Paige and Steve immediately greeted us and met all of our questions and needs, making us feel extremely comfortable in a matter of minutes.  We were there to meet a business group at the 16th floor rooftop venue.  Wow, great music, food, hosting and more.  The views and space were fitting for our large group.  When I visit Austin again , I will definitely return to The Cambria Downtown, to visit my new found family members :Steve & Paige.Thanks for making a couple out of towners feel right at home!!!  Lisa Y. Had a good time at our stay. Gulmira and the rest of the staff were great in answering questions and helping us with any of our needs. The lobby was spacious and great to sit down and relax after a long day around the city. Rooms were nice and cool and the beds were comfortable. Our room was next to the freeway and we did not experience any crazy loud sounds coming from that side. Why this is a 4 rating is because there was some miscommunication. We requested housekeeping on Saturday, but was not done until Sunday. We also requested towels one night, but were never delivered and had to call multiple times until we got someone to deliver them. read more

During our visit we were under the impression a shuttle would take us back and forth to the Palmer Event Center, however our schedules did not align. this forced us to take our car in and out of valet many times during the day. even in extreme heat Jonathan and Ashleigh had smiles on their faces and made sure our car was easily accessible. If we could give them more than 5 stars we would, they made the start to each day seamless. read more

First of all the room was dirty. They didn't even had toilet paper. We asked for toilet paper and they sent us tissues because they couldn't find toilet paper!! They are understaffed, in the front desk there was a bunch of people mad because there rooms where dirty as well, the poor lady on the front desk was all alone, pregnant and having a very hard time dealing with all of us, wich of course we are mad!! In the valet parking we waited for more than 40 minutes because it turns out there is just 2 people trying to make the hotel work, including the valet just two people for the whole hotel!! They didn't clean our room and the whole hotel smells like drainage. Floor 7 smells also like pot. Very upsetting. Very bad service, definitely do not recommend! read more

We've been waiting for a room for 5 hours. True, we arrived a couple of hours before the official check-in time so we went out. Got some food and drinks. Walked the neighborhood. The hotel is surrounded by four separate high-rise construction sites so be prepared for lots of noise during daylight hours. The neighborhood is so noisy I'd suggest going to downtown or SoCo before 5pm. But it's well past the check in time now and still no room. In fact there are 17 other people in the lobby waiting for their rooms, too. Sigh. We finally got our room well after 5pm. The room is nice but there are no coffee cups for our early morning departure brew. We call down. They bring us two bathroom glasses. Sigh. I needed earplugs to sleep. The hotel is surrounded by music venues which could be a lot of fun! But if you need to sleep before 2am just know it's really loud and plan accordingly. And finally the car valet is a separate company from the hotel. You will be asked to pay charges on an outdated card scanner that took 10 minutes to handle backing up the line for cars significantly. The hotel is very cute and super artsy. If ownership got its act together and put more workers in housekeeping, front desk and valet parking it could be a very nice place to stay. I predict this little neighborhood will be a lot of fun once the condos are complete. In the meantime know what to expect! read more

This place is horrible and the employees are hard to reach . The manager Gabe was not caring of my situation at all. My sink was stopped up on the 1st night and I reported to front desk NO ONE showed up the whole weekend. I had to wash my hands in the shower . My room was dirty with hair in the shower old food in the corners on the room. I found potatoes chips alone the baseboard of the room . I found food receipts from the previous person who had the room. If there were zero stars this place could get. It is Tuesday and I checked out on Sunday and still no manager has reached out to me. I left VM for director of rooms to call me still waiting. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS TRASHY PLACE. read more
