Very nice staff. The hotel is clean and comfy. The rooftop bar is great. The elevators are quick and they have a good selection of snacks to buy. There are mini fridges in the room and the shower is great and the water is nice and hot. Great location if you need a place to crash after a Giants game but note that parking is $95/night on game days even if you're a guest at the hotel. Cable went out in our room and tech wasn't available. They compensated with free cocktail vouchers at the roof top bar but when we ordered our cocktails and handed the vouchers in they said it was for beer and wine only. Fine we paid for our cocktails and planned to use vouchers for round two. Cocktails were so strong they weren't tolerable. Ordered a wedge salad when it arrived it was indeed a chop salad. When I asked the runner if he brought us the wrong salad by accident he said no it was for sure the wedge salad. It was soggy, chopped, and had a ton of topping. So I took my daughter to the Maroon 5 concert at the Chase Center. We decided to make it a girls night and got a room here at Hotel Via. Valet is $75 per night and only one car per room. Check in was prompt and friendly. They have a nice lobby and a mini market for snacks and drinks. The room was really clean and we had a nice little sitting area with a bar. Our view was a brick wall but it was kinda cool. Bed was really comfy. I loved that we were able to walk to the Chase Center. And at the end of the night we hung out on the rooftop bar an had some really good cocktails while we sat around the fireplace and took in some gorgeous late night views of SF. read more

My husband and I enjoyed our one-night stay at the hotel. We booked it a day before The Echo, an event held near Oracle Park. The hotel is somewhat tucked away on the side of King Street. The lobby staff were friendly and accommodating. One piece of feedback I would give to the front desk staff is to ensure they verify the identity and name of the guest when confirming room details. There may have been a mistake, but Nick, who assisted us yesterday, handed me a small tablet to review the booking details. Being meticulous, I always double-check that the information is accurate before a guest signs the tablet. Nick apologized for the error and mentioned he was using an old tablet. Despite this, we were checked in quickly, received our drink vouchers for the rooftop bar, and got our room keys. Our vehicle was valet-parked in a secured, covered lot nearby on Townsend Street. After checking in, we headed to the rooftop bar to explore the available drinks and food. Tommy, the bartender, provided prompt and efficient service. I enjoyed a glass of Cabernet, while my husband ordered the 805 drink. Although the menu was small, it featured a great selection of shareable plates. The Tuna Poke Tostada was particularly delicious. We would have loved to stay and enjoy the view of San Francisco at night from up top, but we had to leave for Cirque du Soleil. Our room was bright, clean, and charming, although the window faced a huge red brick wall. It was fine, but it made the room feel a bit enclosed since we couldn't see the streets of San Francisco. We chose the Hotel Via because of its location across from Oracle Park for the Giants game. We had been to the Rooftop Bar before & met a number of Giants players & met Shawn Estes when we were there this time. The room was comfortable for two people. A nice sized bathroom with modern fixtures but towels could have been softer. The bath mat towel was threadbare. The pillows were super soft with a feather dense one and synthetic one. The bed was very comfortable. All the staff we met were super nice from the valet, welcome staff, desk, "security staff" on the rooftop, just everyone. Would definitely stay there again. read more

The place was pretty clean, for the most part. I had to stay here for a few days as I was getting some work done on my house, so I did decide to stay here with my son. We both liked the experience, when I checked in though, there was some hair on the bed. So I was upset about that. I called, and they quickly corrected the problem. I would never stay at Hotel Via after my experience with the manager Brandy. I asked for a call from her a week ago. She never returned my call and when I phoned today to asked to speak to her, wouldn't come to the phone. I was asking for help for staying at the hotel during my operation at UCSF. I will say there is one man that should be in her chair. His name is Oscar! He works at the front desk, I would say he was very kind, knowledgeable, friendly, and knows hospitality the way his boss doesn't!!! Thank you Oscar for your great service! This property has nice a nice public space in their rooftop garden, and mostly very friendly staff. But that's where the good news ends: Bedroom setup is ridiculous- while the beds are comfortable, the bathrooms don't have a real door that closes , instead they have a glass barn door which means you get zero privacy, odors and sounds freely travel into the sleeping area, there's no way to manually turn on the exhaust fan, and if you turn on the bathroom light at 3:00 AM the whole bedroom is flooded. Moreover, the bedroom lights are either on full blast, or off - no dimmers. No grab bars in the shower, despite codes that requires it. And, there are multiple flashing LEDs tucked away in various places that require you to drape towels or pillows to get a darkened room for sleeping. The bedside tables don't have a drawer, so you are left trying to find various inconvenient places to stash your stuff, such as on top of the safe in the closet. And last but not least, parking is a nightmare even with a handicap placard because the surrounding streets all have street sweeping three times a week at 6:00 AM, and the hotel manager gave me a hard time when I wanted to park our car in the adjacent garage for the listed $25 / night. Instead, they only officially offer $75/night valet parking (!!) which is ridiculous. Fortunately one of their staff was kind enough to get us entry into that garage anyway, Bottom line: not recommended unless you are staying alone for a day or two biz trip. read more

Location wise it's great. The area at night is relatively safe. There's modern minimalist decor that keeps this hotel from being stale. Unfortunately, inside isn't very clean. Our carpet has a bunch of stains, there's brown things on the walls, and the nightstand had some odd stains. All these signs are alarming. It's also kinda weird that they don't have a water station out the whole day like other Bay Area Hotels. I typically fill up my water bottle when I'm here at the beginning of the day, but only coffee and water fit on their cramped table. Amenities are just okay. The toiletries are fine, but the toilet paper is yikes. Not sure we'd stay here again. read more

Worst experience in my 58 years .. My husband and I stayed here the night of his surprise birthday party along with several of our out of town guests. We left in a rush the next morning to meet guests for breakfast and shortly afterwards I realized I left my expensive hairdryer and toiletry bag in the room. I called immediately and they informed me that they only found my toiletry bag ( they were together in a cubby). I asked for a manager to call me back. The next morning the manager Barbara Perzigian called and assured me it must be a misunderstanding due to their strict policy of lost items and that she would call me back..... no phone call. Upon retrieving my toiletry bag I see that the expensive make up items were missing. I then called Barbara back to let her know I had more missing items, no return phone call. 8 left messages.... No return calls. I then called and asked for Leslie, whose name was on my items as the person who found my bag. She said she would look into it and get right back to me... no response. I even emailed the owner of the hotel, David O'keefe, no response. The fact that it is a boutique hotel with no corporate means they can get away with anything. Pretty scary!!! Moral of the story, thieves work there with no consequences or accountability. Unbelievable!!!!! read more

The room is clean, bed is comfortable and shower is really nice. WARNING Main problem was the fire alarm in our room. It went off most nights we took a shower. It's really loud and doesn't stop unless they reset it. They said it's because customers complain that the fan is loud so they disconnect the fan. But then you take a hot shower and all the steam goes to the alarm and it blares to the point where neighbors hear too. They said open your door, we do and the alarm doesn't go off. We leave it open for 5 minutes. Alarm is blaring and I had to call multiple times until they shut it off. The gym has old equipment but it all works! No windows. gym is in the basement.I ran on the treadmill and it did the job. The rooftop bar is cool. big and spacious, heaters and a closed roof on one side. bar is small and standard drink options. food is small plates but very good. everything we had was delicious. Im not a fan of san fran prices, all meals are 20-35 or 40 for just one entree any where. and then there is that sur charge of 3-10% that every single place charges. But for the prices this food was very good. $20 for 3 shrimp tacos. super small, 2 fried shrimp per taco. The flavor was amazing! super fresh and crunchy, warm and delicious. the Caesar chicken salad was bigger than i thought it would be and great light dressing, the parmesan crisps were a great touch and the chicken was so tender. the hummus tasted homemade and came with an assortment of veggies and pita. it was a big tub of hummus so that was good $16. the view is also amazing and the staff are super nice read more

Surprised by some less than 4 star reviews. We stayed two nights while attending a couple SF Giants games and a concert at Oracle. Valet parking took excellent care of my car (I'm extremely obsessive about my car!). Staff was excellent from the moment I pulled up to front doors. Front desk let us check in 4 hours early (!). Rooms are modern and clean. Nice size. Beds are comfortable (I never say this about hotel beds). Room temperature good. Has A/C which is not a given in the Bay Area. I've stayed in a lot of hotels but this hotel has the best sound proofing I've ever experienced. So quiet. Could not hear anything from other guests, only light traffic noise. Great rooftop bar that overlooks Oracle across the street. If I attend any events this is where I'm staying going forward. Highly recommend. read more

Customer service is the WORST you will ever experience in any industry. They take zero ownership of any fault. The customer is never right even though that's the hospitality slogan. Leslie at the front desk automatically jumps to accusations toward the customer calling out irrelevant information to try to prove no point at all. Instead of working with the customer, she puts the blame on them without any kind of apology whatsoever. All that was offered was a name and email address of HR. The valet is incompetent and doesn't value other people's property even when they volunteer to "help". read more

Stayed here recently for an event at the Chase stadium. Very convenient location, and it's in the heart of everything. You can walk to the Embarcadero, to the ocean front. Plenty of restaurants nearby and staff is nice. However, elevator is quite small. Besides that though, everything was fine. read more

My wife and I haven't had a getaway in a very long time. I booked a room, purchased tickets to the Giants vs Marlins game, and we headed to the bay. We arrived to the hotel and while trying to check-in, we were told I accidentally made the reservation for the next day. The desk person said there was no single night rooms available as it was a 2 night minimum. I asked for the supervisor. The attendant walked me out to the valet area and introduced me to the general manager of the hotel. Ironically she was the person who valeted our car. She was pleasant, helpful, and understood our dilemma. She told the clerk to switch the days and that we would not be charged for the mistake. We will be sure to make Hotel VIA our first choice from now on. read more

When we arrived at check in, we were told the rooftop bar was closed until 9pm (usually open around 4pm) due to a private party. We stayed here specifically for the rooftop bar to go there before a concert starting at 8pm at Chase Center. Also had to call the front desk 2x at 12:30am due to neighbors playing loud bass music with a sub woofer. Security came promptly but to have this experience overall, it was disappointing. Hotel VIA is really quite lovely. The rooms are modern, well equipped, and most importantly clean. The location is either ideal (across the street from Oracle Park) or annoying (insane traffic during commute times and game days) - depending on your preferences. I experienced two issues with my stay: First. I paid $85/night to valet my car. Regularly $70/night, but both nights of my stay were game nights. I guess this is pretty standard in a big city, but the valet attendant took my key, handed me a tag, and walked away. At $85/night, I would have expected some level of service... open my door, assist with luggage, etc. Valet at the InterContinental is white glove service, and I would have expected similar for the price. Second. The rooms were equipped with tablets on the nightstand that controlled the climate, lights, music, etc. Upon check-in, I noticed the tablet in my room (201) was linked to the room next to me (202). Not only was the room number in the corner of the screen incorrect, but it also displayed the name of the guest in the other room, not mine. Tech is not without glitches, but I felt this to be an absolutely horrifying privacy issue. If someone else's name is displaying on my tablet, I'm sure my name was showing up on someone else's as well. I called down to the front desk to let them know about the crossed wires, and was dismissed when I was told "no other personal information is available on the tablets". But the fact that I had access to the name and room number of ANY other guest aside from myself is not ok. Overall, it was a comfortable stay paid for by my employer. But I would not choose to stay here again if it were on my dime. The dismissal of my privacy concerns was disappointing and concerning at minimum. read more

Hotel lobby is suitable to pick up and drop off services with valley equipment. The entrance is guided with two service restrooms and acquires essentials for bathroom and refreshments. The hotel is quick to accommodate guests with checking in and servicing luggage for room preparation. Good drinks at the bar, nice staff, great location. But dang man, the bathroom doors in the rooms are awful. Maybe someone thought barn doors were a trendy good idea. The beds are nice. The hotel is cool. Where they lose me is the fact that if you come with someone to this hotel, you can actually see them using the restroom or taking a shower.
