Overwhelming cigarette smells the moment I step out of my car from the parking lot. The people that smoke look like they live there, just hanging out in the front area. Furthermore, the inside of the room does not feel clean for some reason. Lastly, hotel decides to charge my credit $15. I called the hotel and spoke with someone, forgot her name and she told me the maid claims either I took a blanket or ripped a blanket. So which is it!? I know for a fact none of that happened because I was the only person there. So it's my word against the maid's word. I have a feeling it's because I left in a hurry and forgot to tip so the maid is getting me back!? I felt actually felt bad when I realized I forgot to tip. So I asked for the manager and she says she is the manager. I'm thinking O'Lord! Now I know why the price here is a bit lower than the other hotel because the customer is always wrong. The customers will not return if you think they are the ones lying. Good luck to you and I will not challenge the $15, keep it! I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

Accidentally booked 4 nights when I should have booked 5. Came back the 5th night to my room cleared out and all my stuff missing. My fault, fine. They kept my clothes and large items in the lost and found. Great. They threw out my contacts for some reason, so now I'm going to be blind traveling. These were daily contacts that were in dry sealed packing on the TV stand. No reason to throw them out. I guess you have to throw out the toothbrush, but why my contacts?! Why did they throw them out? No real answer. "COVID. We're not responsible. You signed papers, we're not responsible." Look, I'm not trying to get upset at you here. I'm just stressed out that my contacts are gone and that traveling is going to be hard now. I don't want you to throw contracts and paper work in my face. I want you to comp me a cookie or something, or take $10 off the bill for the night, and just say sorry. Aside from that: Room was a little janky. Sink didn't drain right. Bathroom was out if toilet paper when I arrived. No turn down service. Photos online are a little deceiving. Fine for the price otherwise. read more

The receptionist Brita was fantastic. We stayed at the hotel on Valentine's Day and I have had this yelp review in my queue for too long. The hotel was clean, the staff was friendly and there were even games for us to check out on the second floor. Tip: Try the omelet station and Greek yogurt parfait station. They're customizable and delicious. After breakfast, check out the trail near the hotel, because it's gorgeous! read more

Falsly accused of smoking in our room, charged me $150 dollar fee on my card, with no notification even! Been told someone will call me back but they don't! organized theft of funds.. pretty sad really.. they must need the funds to do this dishonest act. This was absolutely a horrible experience. First off, at check in you have yo use a machine to speak to someone not on-site and yhe machine can NOT dispense room keys so they housekeeper who spoke no English had to let us in to the room. I asked her how I get a key, but she had no idea what I was saying. Once in the room, I found that it had an adjoining door to the room next door that was paper thin. We literally heard every single word they said and was kept up by the snoring from the room nezt door. The room has not had new carpet in decades and smelled odd. There is gates hotel parking that was not accessible and what appeared to be a homeless person hanging out in the non-staffed lobby. It is definitely not a 3 star hotel that Expedia stated and absolutely not worth the price. Not even getting a key was shocking as I needed to go get items out of my car, but since the housekeeper had to let me in and didn't speak English, I could not ask how to get back into my room if I leave and I was not leaving my child alone in the room as it felt VERY unsafe. Upon arrival we were greeted by a Kiosk - no human at the counter, just a screen with a distant face. This person said they would help us check in - which ended up taking over an hour. For or inconvenience, they promised a 25% discount - which was appreciated. The staff was not very helpful and the breakfast was VERY limited (unless you wanted to pay extra). As far as the discount, they reversed the charge the next day and I have been struggling to get my money back ever since. This is a very nice hotel to stay at whether you are looking for a place to crash for the evening or you need somewhere to rest on a business trip. They offer a lot of amenities such as computer room, lounge, room service, snack shop and gym, but many things may be unavailable during the pandemic. There prices are very good for the area, but just be aware that rooms do significantly vary in size and some also have balcony patio access. At first when I stayed here they put me in a room the size of a dorm room but when I asked to move, they hooked me up with a complete room with open space. It's unfortunate that they don't offer breakfast included with your stay, but it is what it is and I'd still pay for their breakfast again, as all the food is reasonably priced and decent quality. read more

The hotel stay was fine but I booked my room thru hotels.com and had an addition fraudulent charge upon viewing my statement. I was instructed to check in at the kiosk versus front desk and instructed to show my card for incidentals. They charged $50 which I got back when checking out but they took it upon themselves to charge and additional $83 for no reason other than hoping they got away with it. I called to clear it up before calling my bank and posting here. I also made it perfectly clear to the person at the kiosk my room was already paid for thru hotels.com at both checking in and out and the confirmed that and the $50 was credited. The addition charge was 2 days after I left. The rooms were nice and the staff was great but the kiosk part is for the ass and was a red flag from the git go....beware!!! read more

Deceptive advertising. I would like to preface this review by saying I am not trying to be a 'Karen' by any means. Especially in today's climate, I think it is only appropriate to be kind and understanding. Look, I work in hospitality and I know people have their good days and their bad days but I also know bad management when I see it. I walked in to check-in to a gentleman behind the front desk. There wasn't a hello or a welcome, the greeting was: "Checking in? Can you wait for the Front Desk?" Confused, I asked if I was in the right spot and he said yeah, he will be here in a moment... and so I just stood there in awkward silence until the Front Desk gentleman came out. I think it is safe to assume Mr. Zico, a friendly, private fisherman in Greece- who the hotel is named after, greets people to his boat with open arms. It's clearly the motif of this hotel is going for, but it is going to need to take more than just pretty colors and pictures of Santorini. Any way, I booked a king suite online. He told me that the king bed wasn't available but it was the same room with a queen bed but all at the same price. I was kinda shocked considering I reserved the room, but it was whatever: a bed is a bed. My question to him was: " I booked the room though, why would it not be unavailable?" His response: "It's first come, first serve..." I personally have never experienced a hotel that treats their rooms like bar seats..there is a first time for everything, I guess... However, to then find that this was NOT the same room... All of the other king suites in the hotel have a patio and much larger accommodations, which is why I booked the suite that I did in the first place. We opened the door to the smallest hotel room, without a patio. I called and asked how is it that every 'King Suite' is spoken for on a Monday? I don't know, maybe Monday is a busy day in the area but it's just hard for me to believe. The weird thing is I asked the gentleman if there was literature online stating that this is a first come, first serve situation when booking because I didn't see that. His reply: "I don't think so because I get that question a lot..." He did say if anything opens up, he will give us a call... knowing that wouldn't be the case but appreciated the effort - also I wouldn't want house keeping to come and sanitize a room that was barely used just from us being in it. Disappointed, I just accepted it as it is. If this was a Covid situation and that's why the room I reserved was unavailable, I would completely understand but that didn't really seem to be the case. You purchase something online and after traveling, you expect to see what you paid for/ reserved. Not what accommodations can be made for you..it honestly seemed like we were a burden to their day and that is not what hospitality stands for. We felt incredibly unwelcome and chose this hotel amongst others from what is clearly a deceiving website. This place has beautiful aesthetics but honestly think they should hold themselves to a higher standard...and would highly suggest updating their website and booking methods. Perhaps teach the staff how to welcome guests and by all means don't put your staff in the uncomfortable position to explain to someone why they aren't receiving what they thought they were paying for/reserved. The world is stressed out enough as it is and to put that extra stress on your staff is avoidable. Do better Hotel Zico. Make Mr. Zico proud. read more

there are a couple of things I didn't care for here, but overall the stay was excellent for the price. I went online with Hotels Tonight and got a great price. First cool thing is that they have a garage, so your car isn't baking in the sun. Parking was free. The rooms are nice and include a small fridge and microwave (in the closet). Bathroom is decently roomy. Room was nice. TV was kind of small but has a crapload of channel options. It was DirectTV with optional PPV channels. Bed was comfortable. Pillows were good for me and they have 4 of them. The AC worked well. Plenty of outlets for the business and computer guys. The chair kinda sucked: why do so many hotels include these business-style chairs that only raise up 1/2"??? I felt like I was at a kids table. No real noise, so I had no issues. Window coverings are blinds that don't cover well enough, but I was tired and not really bothered by the outside light, plus I was on the West side facing away from the sunrise. As soon as you turn into the parking lot, the hotel will be at your right hand side, you are not allowed to park in certain area as the parking spots belong to a different property. The aesthetics of hotel both outdoor and the main hall look really nice. The hotel staff can be a bit more friendly and caring about their job/duty. The way you're greeted at the beginning makes you prepared to experience the worst. Unlike checking in to many hotels, there's a form to fill out which is unexpected. Upon entering there's a funky/stuffy smell in the small room. The cleanliness is not good, you can visibly see pink mold on the bathroom faucet, there are bits and pieces of hair stuck to the wall, and there is a strong odor of mold and water damage in the bathroom. I personally won't return to this hotel and wouldn't recommend it to anyone either. read more

Not the worst, but has significant flaws. First, it is noisy at night. The main source of noise is the antiquated AC units which rumble very loudly in cycles through the night. Second, the wifi connection and speed can be dismal at times, to the point where's unusable. My room did not look like it was sufficiently clean, particularly the shower floor which consisted of large pebbles. Would I return to that motel? Probably, since it is unlikely that the similarly priced motels would be any better. Our room was dirty and smelled of amonia or cat pee. The parking area is poorly lit and homeless people wander the area. All of the amenities seemed dated and dusty, the microwave sat atop the fridge in the closet as you entered the room. The door only has the deadbolt and not the secondary lock mechanism you usually see. Staff seem disinterested and almost everything is done through a virtual staff kiosk in the entry way. Feels impersonable. We do not feel like this hotel lives up to its rating, stars or our expectations. We didn't feel safe for ourselves inside or outside the hotel. Or that our vehicle would be safe. There are signs saying they tow but didn't ask our vehicle and the signs in the hotels garage are strange and give the impression that they aren't responsible for damage or security of the garage. So glad I've finally found such a good place for my parents to stay while visiting Mountain View. The beds are firm and comfy, even for my picky father! Service was warm and responsive. Our room was set back on the side away from the freeway and there was no road noise. Amenities were clean and just right. Breakfast was exceptional- I have never had a breakfast at an American hotel that was this good and did not cost a fortune! Made to order omelette, Greek yoghurt with granola, GOOD sausages and veggies, cereal, juice, fruit, everything. Perfect way to start the day. read more

Had an amazing two night stay at hotel Zico! Great decor, friendly staff and great extras! We asked for a quiet room away from the freeway and it was perfect. We did the free yoga class on Tuesday evening which was great after several days of traveling! We even got a free glass of wine afterwards in the lobby! Talk about relaxing! Easy access to your car in the garage which is helpful when it is raining. We will be back! read more

I will not recommend this hotel to anyone. The biggest problem is the smell. My husband and I could smell some funky perfume-ish smell in the lobby, but once we walked into the room, it was really pungent, like someone sprayed lots of perfume to cover up old urine in the carpet. We thought it was just that one room. So we asked for a different room, which the front desk lady kindly accommodated. But the second room was the same. Thank goodness the front desk lady helped us cancel our second night's stay and only charged us $90 for the night. I try to remember where else rooms smelled bad. I stayed at a hostel in SF where the room is half underground. The air was stuffy, but nothing pungent. I stayed at a red roof inn in Michigan, where the room smelled like old cooking oil and a chain smoker. I asked for another room, and it was fixed. I'm not asking for a Sheraton experience since I didn't pay that money (though my booking was $209 for 2 nights after tax). But it should at least smell clean like other motels. I don't understand why few people mentioned smell in recent reviews. It really permeated the lobby, hallway, and the two rooms we got. I don't understand how this hotel is registered as a 3-star hotel in booking websites. Its bathroom is barely 5' by 7'. Its gym is just a few machines next to the lobby. The nice French door in the website picture does not open to a private balcony. It opens to a big shared corridor and looks right to the highway 20 meters away. If the owner is looking, please advertise as a 2-star motel so that people don't come expecting a hippy HolidayInn, and please rip out the old carpets and mitigate the smell issue. I don't know what you did to get 4.4/5 on 1000+ reviews, or how you managed to stay in business for so long with smell complaints dating back to 2010, but if you truly believe in Zeus or the protector of travelers, please do something about your property. read more

Due to safety issues, i didn't stay at this hotel. On 12/19/23, I was in the parking lot of Danny's in Sunnyvale. I sat in my car looking for a hotel for the night. A car pulled up next to me, with a guy who reclined his seat and got on his phone. There were many other empty parking spots in the lot. I found zico Hotel and drove off and headed that way. When i got there, I booked my stay in the parking lot. I was reaching over to grab my bag and check in when the same guy from Danny's parking lot pulled up one spot away from me and got on his phone. He just sat in his car. I immediately called zico Hotel and spoke to a woman, telling her about what was happening and why i don't feel comfortable coming out of my car and staying for the night. The woman suggested i park down stairs, i told her, no, because I can be followed down there. While on the phone, the guy got out his car and went into the hotel. The woman told me that management would get back to me. Nobody called me back, and im still waiting for a refund. I drove to the exit of the driveway, while sitting there looking for another place, some guy came to the drive way and picked a cigarette bud and put it in his mouth and left the drive way. He came back for the 2nd time, walking around the driveway. I also saw a lady that came out of the hotel, with a black shirt on, to throw out garbage. I usually stay at Marriott, but man, Silicon Valley hotels are $$$$ during the week! I found Hotel Zico for a business trip, and it was much more reasonably priced. I walked into a beautiful Mediterranean courtyard and into the lobby, where I was promptly greeted by Brita. She was incredibly friendly and personable, and made sure I knew to come back to the lobby for happy hour. Honestly, I'm back in town next week and I have a different hotel booked, but I'm going to change my reservation and come back to Hotel Zico! read more

I prefer to avoid hotel chains. While generally speaking, you know what to expect with them, I prefer to spend my money supporting independent businesses. I made my reservation after some research on hotels in the area, and showed up early on the day of my arrival - too early for check-in. I had the good fortune of meeting Brita, and having her help me secure the room I needed. I'm a paraplegic, and at the time I had made the reservation, I had specifically requested a room with a roll-in shower. Unfortunately this information got lost in the shuffle - but Brita saved the day. She ensured that the room was available to me, and did so with a smile. I'm floored at all the staff I met - everyone working the front desk was top notch. The next morning, while I was leaving, Brita gifted me a little metal bracelet that I'm pressing into daily service - she noted that I have a penchant for the phrase "it is what it is", which is almost my motto... and what does this little bracelet say? "It Is What It Is". Very classy and sweet of her to do so... The gentleman in the evening hours, I forget his name unfortunately, deserves a shout-out as well - I managed to lock myself out of my room twice, and also needed to get a bench for the shower. Everything was handled quickly, competently, and with a smile. Note: Room 102 is the room with the roll-in shower facility for disabled guests. The facilities themselves are in brilliant condition - wonderful decor, high quality fixtures and fittings in the bathroom and sink, high quality lamps, and tons of electrical outlets everywhere for all my devices! No digging around behind furniture to find an outlet for my laptop, phone charger, separate camera charger, and electric razor. Lovely patio on the first floor with ease of access from the room - perfect for a smoker like me. My room had a refrigerator and microwave (perfect, I had Thai leftovers with me). The only minor room issue was that the climate control was mounted very high up on the wall - where a person who is standing can easily manipulate it. I was able to reach it, but because of the viewing angle, my head being 18 inches below the display, it was nearly impossible to see the temperature readout on the liquid crystal display and thus needed to tinker a bit to figure out what I was doing with it. One piece of advice I would offer: the parking garage needs a better handicap parking spot. The one space is narrow, next to a pillar, and if you're the driver and disabled, you need to back the car into the space, in a fairly tight garage. The alternative to this spot is a single handicap spot outside, but it's on uneven pavement and makes the transfer to my wheelchair a bit tricky. There needs to be more than two spaces for handicap placard holders - the first time I arrived, both spots were taken, and I needed to do the jerkish move of diagonally parking across two spaces in the garage, which leaves people thinking I'm a major jerk (the fact the car is a Mercedes doesn't help matters). Fix those issues, and this place is pretty close to nirvana in Mountain View. I give it 5 stars, despite the minor accessibility snafus - I've experienced so much worse at supposedly competent hotel chains, so the fact that an independent hotel has done this well speaks very well of their owners and management. And despite the proximity to the freeway, the sound is almost nonexistent, at least in room 102. They've done an amazing job of secluding the property and isolating it from the surrounding urban environment. Overall, bravo! I will be back, and I'm looking forward to my next trip. read more

On December 4th I arrived in Mountain View Ca for the first time! I found my beautiful hotel that I had reserved the night before Hotel Zico, the curb appeal was amazing and once I walk through the lobby to the front desk I meant the most wonderful lady Ms Brita, she was amazing all she asked was my first name and she already had the paperwork ready to go she offered me a quiet space which was wonderful she really saw interest in me as a customer. She was very friendly and really into making my stay here to be comfortable and enjoyable. She gave me info about the hotel I thought it was really cool that she said that they'll be wine and cheese served later on in the evening around 5:30pm and she explained about breakfast that it's really good and you can ask them in the morning how you would like your eggs cooked. I mean I was just amazed just the friendliness that was given the hospitality. As I walked into my room I was amazed by the colors they were perfect they were my favorite colors blue green and teal very clean tidy right up my alley loved it. If I ever have the need to come to Mountain View California again I will definitely stay at this beautiful hotel because of the great hospitality and just an extra note even when I was in the lobby you can hear Ms Brita talking to other customers and had such a wonderful relationship with all of us she was like somebody you already knew or have known for a long time. read more

Hotel Zico, the cutest boutique hotel ever! First time staying here, and I gotta say it was a great time. Rooms are spacious, bathrooms are clean and they even have complimentary breakfast from 6:30am-9:30. They have eggs/omelettes made to order too. Tea, Coffee, Fruit, you name it! Very clean set-up. The staff is also super super friendly. I had the pleasure of dealing with Don, he's the man. He was very accommodating, and went above and beyond to make sure everything went smoothly during my stay. There was even one time where I walked into the lobby, and they had a full spread of pumpkin pie, cheeses & wine! How awesome is that?! read more
