I was visiting Austin last week and was excited to try out the Barry's location, since I go a few…read moretimes every week in the Bay Area. What a great experience! The Austin location is gigantic! They have two rooms for classes- one Red Room (the one I was in), and I believe the other room was for lifting only. The class size is also larger than what I am used to, which was cool. I took two classes and both were great, but Phillip's was especially awesome! Not only did he have great energy and curated a great ACL-themed playlist, but also included some facts about ACL throughout the class which was super fun! I had brought a guest who had never been to Barry's before and she even mentioned a few days later how awesome he was! Everyone at the front desk was super nice and helpful as well. I look forward to my next trip back to Barry's Austin!

For Barry's corporate please do not contact me regarding this review…read more UPDATE: Several instances had happened at this location when I come in to workout: Recently bullying to other members regarding who spots its assigned to... this has been become concerning such saying "you took T12 that's my spot... or You took F19 that's my spot, etc." Childish behavior has been observed as members are unable to adapt to being flexible to which spot they want to be assigned to. I hear you but understand you can't have everything YOUR WAY! 7/13/25 an incident happened where a member kicked my waterbottle underneath the treadmill and caused me to fall off. No front desk staff member was able to resolve the issue since it takes 15 minutes for front desk to get someone to grab my water bottle and temporarily move me to another treadmill. This could have been prevented in moving me to another treadmill spot quickly than waiting for 15 minutes which wasted my class time. A Member there builled me stating it wasn't a big deal and senses it was not an issue at all and cares about himself and not for others. another instance was around this time last year when another member forced me to switch spots with them during a free class when it was sold out without checking in with front desk. These events both are reasons why I will not come back to Barry's Austin. The instructors did their duties the front desk is held at responsible for their actions not handling the situation in a professional manner. Lastly, compensating credit to say sorry has become a mental health issue to me. It's time for me to exit the Barry's Austin. Note: This negative review will stay posted. Just like me, I'm sure you've seen the franchises scattered all over the nation... I now understand…read morewhy there are so many Orangetheory Fitness (OTF) addicts! If your fitness goals include getting heart healthy, losing weight, etc OTF is the perfect place to start. I signed up for my first complimentary class online, and was contacted by the store manager, Dorothy, via phone call & text a few times. When I finally was able to schedule, I was able to easily text back and state when I wanted to come in. If the class has availability, you'll be able to get booked. For your first class, it's suggested to come early to sign forms and to familiarize yourself with the equipment and terms. My coach for the first class was Becky. I loved how welcoming Becky was and I felt comfortable coming in for my first fitness class since pre-covid. I love how Becky keeps you accountable. For my follow-up class, Mickey blew me away. Mickey has SO much energy and with the addition of her playlist, YOU ARE READY TO ROCK THIS!! Now for the cons... since these are essentially group fitness classes, if you are new to exercises, not much of a breakdown is provided. Form is important to me coming from an exercise science background. If your form is all wrong, you could easily injure yourself. The lack of space in between members doesn't help either for those needing modification/accommodations. Lastly, for new members, companies are typically supposed to overhype their product/s to the customer. Instead, service fell flat. I wanted OTF to sell it to me! Why OTF and not just any other gym or boutique studio? What's the purpose of purchasing OTF's heart rate monitors v wearing my own Fitbit/Apple watch? Why are splat points important? Questions I'll never have the answer to.

Ok so I started coming to this gym about two months ago. I tried the "free" day and signed up that…read moreday. My billing period started that day so technically it wasn't a "free" day:/ At first I thought it might be a little intimidating because it is an hour workout. The workout is typically broken out into three sections: threadmill, rowing, and floor weights. Even though I had never tried the rower, I've learned how to do things with each class. I like that you can go at your own pace so it is doable. I've also tried different coaches who motivate you and give you tips. Knocking a star because some of the machines sometimes have issues or Re broken. Overall I'm really enjoying this gym and already seeing results!
