They have two rooms for classes- one Red Room (the one I was in), and I believe the other room was for lifting only. The class size is also larger than what I am used to, which was cool. I took two classes and both were great, but Phillip's was especially awesome! Not only did he have great energy and curated a great ACL-themed playlist, but also included some facts about ACL throughout the class which was super fun! I had brought a guest who had never been to Barry's before and she even mentioned a few days later how awesome he was! Everyone at the front desk was super nice and helpful as well. I look forward to my next trip back to Barry's Austin!

It was a 12 or 12:30 class, so it was packed with people on their lunch hour. It seemed like everyone knew each others' names, so I did feel a little on the outside, but once the class started all I thought about was the workout. The music was pumping, the energy was high, and the vibes were there! My second class was an 8:30am ride with Jabs, who was subbing for someone else. Jabs easily made fun conversation throughout the ride and also had great energy. They were really friendly, as well! Finally, my third ride was with JaCorey, who made us all forget that it was 8:30am. The ride passed by so quickly and I really enjoyed it! The space itself is well thought-out, with enough space between bikes but still creating a close community feel. I appreciate the lockers outside of the bike room, where everyone keeps their items so as not to bring them into the bike room. The people at the front desk are friendly and inviting, too. I stopped in to the Gold's downtown gym after running 6 miles in the cold weather. I wanted to…read morefinish with an elliptical and biking workout in a warmer setting. I started working out on the elliptical machine and noticed a promotion for Billy Madison showing a scene with Adam Sandler outside of aclosed door. I remembered that Gold's Gym has a "Cardio Cinema" room, where they have rows of elliptical, treadmill and bikes with a screen to show movies. Since I had never seen Billy Madison, I quickly entered the room. Because I was the only one to partake of the movie, it hadn't started yet. I told the attendant to start the movie. It was a great exercise session with the movie to make the time go faster. I thoroughly enjoyed the elliptical and bike while I watched the movie. (There were several technical issues during the movie; the screen would go blank every 5 minutes or so. The attendant was aware of this glitch and said they were looking into it.) If not watching a movie, the gym has lots of machines and weights for a traditional non-cinema workout.

I love that they offer…read morea variety of class formats-cardio, kickboxing, classic barre, etc. The instructors are so encouraging, and place a huge emphasis on mindfulness, especially making the most of your 50 minutes while in the studio. I always walk out feeling empowered, and ready to take on my day. What really sets this studio apart from others downtown is that they have new routines every class. It's impossible to get bored here. In Austin we have so many choices for where to exercise, and it can be hard to find your perfect fit. I'm so happy to have found mine in Barre Code!

Here are a few things I've done that require less time to do safety training: Shooting Range - Firearms Circular Saw - Carpentry 40' Ocean Sailboat - Boat Rental They must be throwing knives at each other in there because 30-minute safety training for a one-hour class is insane. Before this class started, I went to the YMCA down the street and burned 200 calories.
