I purchased a blind box for $50 bucks at a very well known arts venue for fundraising event on 2/8/19 .. The blind box I was so lucky to pull included a gift certificate for $150 worth of cleaning and alterations at this cleaners; Hour Glass see picture .. WOW!!! I went to hourglass cleaners this morning and had a very similar experience as many posts on yelp. I don't know HOW these people are in business?? How can you kick out loyal costumers, by simply asking a question about your garment? I brought in a pair of white pants, that were almost black when I picked them up. When I asked the Asian lady what happened, which I assume by other posts, she is the owner's wife, I was told the same thing over and over....GET OUT!! Never been treated this way.....EVER!! My wife and I have used this cleaner for years. Brad and his family treat us and our clothes as if they were his own. They perform excellent tailoring and alterations also. Recently brought in a jacket that had been put into the dryer by accident, my wife all grumpy cause she wouldn't have the top half of her suit any more. Brought it a local cleaner where we were traveling to in AL and they said it was terminal. The folks at Hourglass took it in and it looks like new. These guys go above and beyond day in and day out. Stay away! I took a pair of jeans in to be mended and I did not want a patch behind the tear. I asked for it just to be sewn. The lady started yelling at me that they could not do that. I asked why she was so angry and yelling and she then switched personalities and calmed down. We discussed options for 15 seconds and then she started yelling again. I guess they are used to rich clientele from PV that are at their mercy? Or maybe my request wasn't going to make them enough money? Just really angry people! read more

First time ever I have taken the time to write a review. The owner ( wife), is extremely rude! We spend a good 10 to 15 thousand dollars a year there for many years. They ruined many items of clothes(which would never take responsibility for!) but this last time was a dress that I just bought. She waited so long to tell me that now I cannot replace it because it is sold out! She said she would eat half and I would have to eat half and basically threw it at me with a look of disgust!!! Terrible! I have been here several times for patch work and the woman is always so RUDE! I thought the first time it was a bad day but she is just mean. Most of the work was ok, but on a pair of jeans the patch showed through and they used a different color thread. When I asked about it she just kept saying " no no no, this is how we do it. OMG!!!!!!! I have NEVER in my life been treated so bad by an establishment that I have been given my business to for over 9 years. I've been going to HOUR GLASS Cleaner for over 9 year. The business was bought over by someone else about 5-6 years ago, but I continued my loyalty to the business. I used their pick up/ delivery service and had a monthly bill of at least $400-$500 dollars. About 3 weeks ago I went to pick my dry cleaning, at that time I was informed by the owner's wife that my $800 dollar brand new white jacket with leather trimming was severely stained and damaged and that she had followed the cleaning instructions and that it was not their fault. I told her I would take it back to Barney's and explain the situation to them and let her know the outcome. Barney's told me that no one else had brought the jacket back, but they would send it to their Cleaner to have it fixed. The next time I went to Hour glass cleaner to give them more of my business (about a week ago), I mentioned to the owners wife what Barney's had told me..... before I could finish my sentence, she got very defensive and started raising her voice in front of my 9 year old and kept repeating that she followed the instructions and that it wasn't her fault. I told her to please lower her voice, instead she grabbed my stuff shoved it into my shopping bag and through the bag at me and told me to SHUT UP and GET OUT!!! My 9 year old and I were stunned!!! We couldn't believe what was happening. After 9 years and over 20-30 thousand dollars of my business, this is how I was treated, because for the first time I spoke up. In the past I've always let it go when the quality of their work was not satisfactory, and that's my fault, but NO ONE should be treated, the way I was treated. After speaking to a couple of my neighbors, I was informed that, they also no longer use HOUR GLASS Cleaners, because they were also told to GET OUT, when their Garment was Damaged. I have never wrote a review in my life, this is my first review. I have also never been treated this way before. If anyone else has had an experience like mine with Hour glass, please contact me @ Mahsajune@msn.com. I spoke to my lawyer and my neighbors, we don't want this to happen to anyone else, so we will be taking Action. PS. Hourglass Cleaners are the absolute BEST cleaners in arcadia/biltmore! They are extremely friendly, priced appropriately and convenient and fast! Brad and Sunhi are the owners and work there all the time. They have a real neighborhood feel to the way they run the store and remember customers. They were able to get candle wax out of silk without any change to the fabric or pigment, and alter clothing for a custom fit! Always do everything I request! Highly recommend from a gal with lots of high end clothing and difficult fabrics.! read more

Brought in my brand new, unworn prom dress to be altered and it came back with an ink stain on the front. I notice everything and that stain was not there before. When I brought it back in to tell the owner, she denied that they got the stain on the dress, saying it must have already been there. She would not take responsibility and personally attacked me for being the type of person who would lie about the source of the stain. Very rude and dismissive, will not be going back. read more

I went to Houglass Cleaners this morning to pick up some dresses I had dropped off. One of them had a stain on it that I was worried wouldn't come out, but it looked perfect when I picked it up! I thanked him for taking such good care of my clothes. The owner is so friendly. He commented on my early start to my morning, then took my bill from $74 down to $65 just to be nice and "contribute to my good morning"! They shrunk a $150 shirt that was only worn once! I took it back and the owner first tried to steam it back into shape and convince me that my husband would not notice the shirt had shrunk two inches shorter and was about two inches wider. Then when that didn't work she said "Well it looks like someone may have laundered it" insinuating I ruined it. When that didn't work she took it back to steam again this time coming back showing me some symbols she claims means No Dry cleaning and denied dry cleaning the shirt. She said she was not responsible and to take it back to the store. By the end of our conversation she admitted to neither dry cleaning or laundering the shirt. I thought she was sweet too. I spend about $400-$500 a month in there and all she had to do was take responsibility for the mistake and give me a $150 credit. I would still be a customer. STAY AWAY!!! read more

My grandfather was in the military and recently passed away; so my mother brought his flag here to be pressed. The lady who worked there opened up the box and threw the flag on the floor. For those who don't know flags are not supposed to touch the ground at all. My mother then said something about it and the lady's response was "well it doesn't matter". I had bought a brand new white medical coat on Monday, washed it on Tuesday and needed a patch sewn on the arm so brought it into hourglass Cleaners on Wednesday. The seamstress who works in the window of the cleaners was very nice and asked if I would like it pressed. But when I went to go pick up my brand new, never worn before white medical coat I noticed a stain on the arm. I pointed it out to the owner who mumbled and looked at the stain. Not only did he not take responsibility for the stain, he blamed me and charged me full price! I couldn't start my first day with a stained coat, it would have been completely unprofessional. So I had to wash the coat 5 times to get whatever stain they made on it. I later went back and the owner said he will never admit that he was responsible for the stain and asked me what I want. I have been a customer of Hourglass Cleaners for years. The past few months, I have been VERY dissatisfied with their service. I will not be using Hourglass Cleaners after today for the following reasons: 1. I brought a brand new silk blouse in for dry cleaning. It had never been worn. When I came in to pick it up, it had not been cleaned. There was a BIG stain on the front of the blouse. When I asked why the blouse had not been cleaned and where the stain came from, I was told the blouse "must have come in like that." I informed them that it was a new blouse and it was not brought in like this. They told me it could be cleaned again. When I came to pick the blouse up again, the stain was still present, but a little less noticeable. I was charged for the cleaning and have been unable to wear the blouse as the stain is too noticeable. 2. I brought a dress in to be cleaned for my daughters graduation. When I came in to pick the dress up, I was told it had not been cleaned. When I asked why, I was told that the dress had leather panels on the side, and they needed a signature as the dress had special features. I asked why I wasn't told that when I left the dress, or why no one called to get my permission for cleaning, and I was told "I don't know."She then stated " the dress looks clean. You can wear it." It was two days before the graduation and the dress had a stain at the bottom. I had to scramble to find an alternative. 3. I decided to give them one more chance this week. I brought a blouse in to be cleaned for my daughter on Tuesday. I asked if it could be ready by Thursday, as my daughter had a 6 am flight Friday morning. I was told it would be ready after 4pm Thursday. When I went to pick the blouse up today, it could not be found. After several minutes of waiting, the blouse appeared on a hanger, dirty and wrinkled. When I asked why it wasn't cleaned, I was told " I don't know." I was told I could pick it up Friday morning and I said I needed it today as my daughter was leaving on a 6am flight. I was then told by Brad to " take the blouse to the hotel for cleaning." My daughter is not staying at a hotel. Bottom line is: Take photos of any items you are taking to Hourglass Cleaners as they take no responsibility for staining expensive clothing. If you have an important event..be prepared to wear a stained item to the event as they may decide it is "clean enough" for you to wear. Stay in a fancy hotel with "cleaning services "because whatever you leave with Hourglass will not be cleaned and will be dirty and wrinkled before you leave. read more

I've been going for years--even after we moved from Arcadia, we still drive quite a distance just to bring my clothing to them. Sunhi, one of the owners, truly cares about her customers. For example, while on a business trip, I took a white jacket to another dry cleaner. It came back with a "sorry we tried" card on it. It was one of my favorites, so I brought it to Hour Glass and the stain was gone. I know it was because Sunhi took the time to follow through and take care of it. She is also multi-talented. Once their seamstress was gone and she not only fixed the repair but it was repaired perfectly. I'd have to say in the past eight years, everything I taken there has been expertly cleaned and they go above and beyond to work with me if I need a quick turn-around.
