I attached screenshots of my many attempt accompanied by with little to no effort from Hourglass Lab to resolve my request to cancel. Mind you, I have not stepped foot in the gym once. Updating my review as I unfortunately no longer believe in my previous one and I do not want to mislead anyone. I want to start off by saying that Hourglass Lab still has a workout space for women that a commercial gym cannot provide. However, its business practices/customer service are currently lacking, hence this review. I forgot to pay my membership for the month of July and it said that I had until July 9th to pay before my membership was canceled. On July 8th in the afternoon, I received an email that my membership has been canceled. Although I should've paid for my membership in time and being out of town was not an excuse, I assumed that the information provided in the email was accurate. With the text saying "The payment must be completed before Jul 09, 2024 to prevent cancelation", it indicates that I still could have had a couple of hours before my membership was canceled. Soon after receiving the cancellation email, I messaged Crystal, with no reply for the rest of the day. I texted Hourglass Lab the following day and Crystal called me after my text to clarify what happened. She explained that I had a 7 day grace period and that the email was a typo, it should've said that I missed my payment on July 1 and I had until July 8th. Also, because I missed my payment, I will have to pay for the 7 days/"grace period" and she issued me an invoice. Additionally, I would have to RE-ENROLL and pay an enrollment fee on top of the "grace period" invoice and membership. I understood after that the policy is 7 days, however, if your business made a typo, I would expect them to take accountability for it. She said that this isn't something she could change and that it's the website/system's fault, but websites are tied to a business, thus the responsibility of the business. Unfortunately, the call happened during very bad timing as I was busy and the call was going on for longer than expected, so I apologized and asked Crystal if I could call back at a later time when she is available. She said that I could call her back that same day later in the evening. I just needed to send a text before. I confirmed that I will do that and I will speak to her later that day. I sent a text and I never received any replies back. This last interaction with Hourglass Lab made me rethink my experience here because it felt like a really money hungry interaction for a one-time mistake and I felt like the lack of follow up was bad customer service, especially as someone who frequently goes here. I honestly would've overlooked and paid extra invoices but because I never received any response to even discuss it, it felt like this business was no longer worth giving my money and time to. Edit/Update: The morning after I published this review, I got a notification that my key to Hourglass Lab was revoked, shouldn't that have already happened with the cancellation? The timing is awfully coincidental after my review, yet I did not receive any messages/signs of Hourglass Lab wanting to resolve this issue. Will definitely be wary of businesses that cannot handle criticism in the future. read more

I write this review as a member of over a year, I joined because I liked the idea of an all women's gym but soon after signing up Crystal made me feel uncomfortable because her way of "correcting" me was very rude as it seems like a lot of things bother her, on top of the long list of rules. It felt like I was walking on eggshells every time she was around and that defeated the whole purpose of me choosing this gym ironically enough. I received an email that my membership was cancelled and informed that In order to reinstate my membership I have to pay the new rate, which I understand but I did not receive any notification that there will be a price increase coming I'm just expected to pay from one day to the next and it comes off unprofessional and inconsiderate as a customer. Not to mention her dog is very sweet but I have seen dog poop on the floor at least 3 times, it's not the dog's fault but it is very unsanitary. I originally had a 24/7 membership in 2023 at Hourglass Lab but didn't use it as much as I hoped. When I came in for a tour recently, Crystal really took the time to ask the right questions and helped me realize that jumping back into the same membership might not be the best fit right away. That personal attention meant a lot. I ended up joining small group training, and I LOVE it! I picked things up quickly and felt super comfortable. I especially appreciate being able to play YG on the speakers, the vibe is always right. Canceling and reactivating my subscription was also super EASY; there is a link to it on the invoice then it's just one click. Crystal even noticed I still had time left on my old 24/7 plan that was frozen due to personal hardships, and she's letting me use that remaining time. Started my training sessions with, the gym's owner, Crystal 2 weeks ago. So far, I'm loving the experience! I like the fact that the gym is very cozy, I know that's a weird thing to say about a gym but it is. Super clean, everything has a place and everything is in its place. I like that the lights are soft and not glaring like in other gyms, the music loud enough to pump you up for exercise, but not so loud it causes a migraine, like other gyms. Crystal is very helpful and encouraging, pushes you to do your best, but knows when to stop so you don't hurt yourself. She's very kind and supportive. I love this gym because it's NOT like the commercial gyms. I get my workouts in after work in the evening, so it's super important for me to have a rack available to me during rush hours. I do NOT have to wait for anything here! I'd have to wait and sometimes not be able to get a rack at all at the commercial gyms. I was visiting Covina for a week and wanted to find somewhere I could train at while in town. I called Hourglass lab and the owner was very helpful. She answered all my questions and helped me with the sign up process. The sign up was also very quick and simple. In regards to the training facility, I was very impressed when I walked in. It was like nothing I'd ever been to before. They have awesome color changing lights and music that makes your workout experience that much better. The facility is super clean and has everything you would need to get a good workout in. It's also super convenient that it's open 24 hrs and a comfortable place for women to train.
