2 baby kitten's were found under a hood of a car Went to shelter in hope they would accepts kitten's , I was turned away and told they would come pick up the animals from a location in Rosenberg because it was 8 and the couldn't accept them until 10. I wanted till 10 and no one ever showed up. When I called to verify if they were still coming to pick up the kittens, they expressed it was a misundertaing and they wouldn't come and pick up the kittens as they had told me a couple hours before. read more

I adopted a cat here a month ago and she turned out to be FeLV (feline leukemia) positive. Turns out they don't test their cats that come in for either FeLV or FIV. I have 2 other healthy cats at home and they refuse to take her back, and I'm struggling to find a place for her now. I will NEVER recommend this place. read more

They were all very friendly and helpful. We adopted a cat named Ra after fostering. We fell in love with him right away.

Omar is a vindictive sociopath, my father rescued and rehabilitated a cat for several weeks. We brought the cat in for a tnr under the impression that animals found in the city limits are eligible for free neutering. Shortly before we were going to retrieve our pet we were told they would be keeping our pet to adopt out because the animal was not deemed feral enough, and my father was understandably upset and we could not remedy the misunderstanding by paying the neutering fee. After involving the police we were able to get out pet back, but I do not trust Omar as a director and will be discussing his callous and cruel demeanor with anyone that will listen. Omar is an embarrassment to animal care and should be replaced immediately. read more

DO NOT TAKE IN STRAYS. Found a stray half a mile outside or city limits. They refused to take it knowing they were the last ones with enough space for a medium size stray. I asked what I was supposed to do with the dog first I was instructed to dump the dog again. Then I was told it's not their problem and it was recommended to dump the dog AGAIN. Do y'all not care about animals? I mean it's a animal shelter. The lady on the phone was absolutely horrible rude yelling and not caring of animals. I'll be calling the state and a lawyer. I doubt this is legal to tell someone to do. read more

Rosenberg Animal Shelter is the only official No Kill animal shelter in all of Fort Bend County! *(Don't confuse it with the Fort Bend County shelter, which happens to be right across the street from Rosenberg shelter!) I'm so proud of the meaningful and life-saving programs that have been implemented at Rosenberg shelter since the city resolved to become No Kill! In fact, they have now been officially No Kill for more than a year now and that is a phenomenal accomplishment that we should all applaud! With Mara Hartsell as the director, Rosenberg Shelter has become a shining beacon of light in our area. She believes in and follows the proven No Kill model and treats every animal as an individual. The No Kill policies that she has put into place have resulted in complete transparency with the community. Her consistent monthly reports ensure that all citizens know the outcome of every animal in the shelters care. Just a quick and friendly reminder, there are two animal shelters located in Rosenberg. Both entities are located on Blume Road right across from each there. Both entities are under different governing bodies. The larger facility Fort Bend County Animal Services (FBCAS) is overseen by FBC Commissioners' Court and the Health Department while the other one is under Rosenberg Police Department and the City of Rosenberg. They are not affiliated despite the proximity of their locations. I feel the urge to offer this clarification to the public because most people do NOT know they are not the same. It is very confusing for the public and both shelters get each other's phone calls. Not sure what can be done to correct it but I urge every one here to make sure they are leaving the comments for the appropriate shelter so they can make the improvements to help the animals. About Rosenberg, I have adopted from there and have seen the phenomenal changes in the last 18 months. This little shelter has made a paramount turnaround. I have been very impressed with the current management of the shelter. The commitment and engagement is such a big improvement! The director has instrumentally installed several impactful life saving programs to provide a plan for each and every single animal. She is constantly in touch with the public, rescue groups, advocates and volunteers to make small things better to create big results. The efforts have transpired into very visible results such as a consistently high percentage of live release and save rates. The foster program has grown tremendously and so has the local adoption program which is a reflection of a strong community engagement and partnership. This is what No Kill is about. It is an encouraging sign that No Kill can be achieved properly and ethically. Spread the word. This is a true humane shelter! I can't wait to adopt from this shelter again. read more

I'll try to keep this short but it'll be difficult. I'm not trying to dismiss all the bad reviews because at one point this place was horrid, but now it's not. Mara and staff have done a 180, saving so many lives and connecting with fabulous rescues. Much like non profit rescues, responding to every single message or phone call is quite difficult and should be taken with a grain of salt. There's so much that goes into running this shelter between the sanitizing of the kennels, the socializing of the animals, feeding and care, then the networking and communicating. As far as the money, they have a small budget they're given and quite often they get $0 for adoptions. I wish their budget were bigger, they could have more bodies working there, they can have equipment that works properly, such as the AC that constantly goes out or the hose nozzle that busts or provides low pressure, maybe their play area for the dogs would be more sturdy and some wouldn't hop out or dig out....but no they have a tiny budget and do what they can with what they have. And for that, this place is magical and inspires hope. For anyone complaining about trying to get their pet back, you should've had them microchipped and inside, they scan every animal that they come into contact with and they wouldn't even have to do that if pet parents were more responsible. Thank you Rosenberg for all you do. I know the job is exhausting but I hope you keep doing it, you're so inspiring to the rescue community! read more

I received notification via PETFINDER that "Blanche" was available for adoption the first week in July, 2020. I filled out an application to adopt this little lovely into my "Pack" on Friday 7/10/20. Following submission, I emailed M. Hartsell, the published director, to request she review my application. When I had no response, I checked the shelter website & saw "Blanche" continued to be offered for adoption. I called the shelter on Thursday, 7/16/20 to inquire about her & was informed by the gal answering the phone that yes, "Blanche" was still at shelter, yet Ms. Hartsell was not available but would return my call. On Saturday, 7/18/20 I called the shelter, again, & spoke with the same gal I'd discussed "Blanche" with on the previous Thursday to check on the status of my application, again. The dog was still at the shelter & I was put on hold for a few moments. When the gal returned to the call, she stated she had checked on the dog's status & was informed the dog was "going to a rescue". I then contacted friends in both the shelter & rescue "worlds" - they, like myself, were appalled that this dog, now sitting in a shelter for 10-days since my initial inquiry, was not adopted out to anyone (including myself) who had made application for this little dog. They suggested to me that this practice was not in the best interest of the dog, nor those who may have assisted in the removal of "Blanche" who sat in a kennel for an artificially "needed" period of time. This was a "questionable" practice, they suggested - and I agree. For my myself, I will continue to seek other senior dogs in need of a loving, available pet home, but not from this shelter. I'm sad that this dog was not serviced in the way she should have been & encourage Rosenberg Animal Shelter to review it's practices related to adoptions. Best wishes, dear "Blanche". read more

The social media pages are updated regularly and have gorgeous photos and write ups for every animal. The shelter is clean and has small and large dogs as well as lots of kitties! I have been to almost every local animal shelter in the Houston area. This is by far the cleanest of them all. Every dog that I have pulled from the shelter have been loved and cared for during their time at the shelter. They are also incredibly transparent with their euthanasia rates. I am very impressed with how they handle making sure that every animal truly gets the best chance to find a family! read more

Very unorganized. If you're looking to get service for spay or neuter, don't even bother wasting your time. I was advised to be present by 9:00 AM but unfortunately I'm in a different jurisdiction so I must go across the street that doesn't open till 10 AM no one explained this at all or verified anything on the phone prior to coming out. Simply trying to help a neighborhood cat by doing the right thing but given the runaround. No need for explanations or excuses for why this information was not given prior to coming out. read more

This animal control is aimed to helping stray animals find a home. Adoptable animals are found loving homes for their fur-ever homes. I will never buy a breeder dog again. I have adopted 2 from here with absolutely no regrets at all. They all deserve a chance at love! Mine are a very important part of our family.
