Being a lover of dessert can prove difficult when you are both gluten and dairy free. Often, these desserts are over compensated with sugar and oil to make them taste somewhat decent. That is absolutely NOT the case with How Delish HD. The fact that I am not limited to just one option is phenomenal. From the various cheese cakes to the cobbler, I feel happy when I eat their food. Being someone with a limited diet, I feel seen. My husband is not gluten free and has tried every dessert at least once. He loves the carrot cake and swore that it was not plant based. He also enjoyed a turkey and cheese sandwich that reminded him of the old school Brooklyn bodega hero. How Delish HD is a welcome addition to the community. So I tried this place for a Saturday lunch with some friends. This was my first time hearing about this spot, even though it's only about 10 minutes away. I was not disappointed at all. First it's black owned (love love love) and it's vegan. Location was cool, and parking was not difficult to find. It was pretty spacious inside. The ambiance and music was pretty chill and the workers were very nice. There were two areas to dine in and also a bar area in the larger dining room. The food was very very good. I ordered a chickpea tuna, small chili, and a cold mint ginger green tea. I was surprised how good everything was, since I am not vegan and have my doubts about vegan food. The chili was sweeter than I'm use to but still delicious. The cornbread was good as well, but baby that chickpea tuna was all the way put together. It was definitely a 10/10. And I can't forget the mint ginger green tea. It was so refreshing and delish. They also let us try the mango drink which was also heavily. I will definitely be returning and bringing my son, who ate the rest of my chickpea tuna when I got home and could not believe how good it was. read more

The place is nice...but I wasn't impressed with the food. I got the BLT. The bacon was pretty tough and the edges were just hard and not pleasant to eat. It seemed to be mostly lettuce. Kind off expensive for what you get. The tiramisu is dense and a little gummy. I was expecting a lighter mousse like cream. The chocolate cheesecake was pretty good, but didn't have the slight tang cheesecake usually has. Was more of a really fluffy brownie. And really small slice for the price in my opinion. I know everyone makes rum cake different, but this one is also very dense. I thought it would have a lighter pound cake consistency. The hazelnut latte is kind of weak. Just taste like coffee. I'm not getting any espresso flavor. For these 5 items, my total was $50! And there was a lady who assisted the guy taking my order. To begin with, the staff was very pleasant! They all seem to be young adults, and surprisingly pleasant, with amazing recommendations. The one negative thing I have to say is the wait, for next time I will call ahead, in total I waited 20 minutes for my order with just 1 person who ordered ahead of me. The banana pudding cheesecake was amazing! The crust was delicious. The mango chunks in the mango iced tea was a great touch! Although I enjoyed the chickpea tuna, it wasn't my favorite, but I also didn't know what to expect when ordering it. The acidity from the vinegar balances out the creaminess from the mayo and makes this something that can easily compete with any Italian deli sandwich. And the bread? I'm not sure where it's from but it was soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. Exactly how sandwich bread should be. Carrot cake Like all the desserts we tried here, if you didn't know it was vegan, you definitely wouldn't guess. Cake was moist and the icing I could literally eat straight from a jar. (Please sell me a jar of this icing!!) Not too sweet but just enough. Darkside cheesecake Chocolate cheesecake topped with vegan brownie pieces (moist and chewy!!) and Oreo cookie crumbles, all drizzled with chocolate syrup. Do you need to know more? It's a Party cheesecake Crumbly graham cracker bottom topped with cake pieces, whipped cream and refreshing vegan ice cream. Amazing!! Pro tip: put your cheesecakes in the freezer! They thaw while you're eating. This is the place to bring your vegan friend who writes off vegan food just because "how can vegan food be that good." How Delish HD is absolutely amazing. Vegan cakes and subs? Count me in. I've been obsessed with their food since they were only serving cakes at Vegan festivals and fall more in love with them as they continue to add more menu options including sandwiches, paninis, soups, and more! Their customer service is always amazing and their dishes are absolutely mind-blowing. I have tried almost every cake and sandwich and haven't been let down a single time. Everything is always fresh and flavor packed. My personal favorites are the HD Club (with Mac salad of course), chikn noodle soup, and the strawberry celebration. Their milkshakes are phenomenal. They even host events and other vegan pop ups. The only downside is that they're only open a few days a week but absence makes the stomach grow fonder. Do yourself a favor and come try everything. I wanted my friend to try How Delish but unfortunately it was the Saturday of their 3 year anniversary. We stood in line for 2 hours just to get to the register and was told they were practically out of everything. It would have been nice if someone took orders while we waited outside or kept us updated on which items were sold out while we were online. They weren't taking online orders either.
