I've only wanted to stop here for a year now, so better late than ever! Even from the outside, I had no idea how big How You Brewin is until we stepped inside. Both inside and outside, there are many arrangements of seats for smaller and larger parties. And with the games available, HYB is truly a "third space" that encourages guests to hang out. So while there are people grabbing coffees to go, it's a lovely spot to sit and read or chat and play games with friends. The people behind the counter were very friendly. The iced coffee was tasty and well made. They have great coffee beans here. We also enjoyed a cinnamon pastry. Their menu has lots of breakfast and lunch options. Our first time here and we enjoyed it. Service is excellent. They have a great variety of foods and coffee selections. We ordered iced lattes and some scones. They asked if we wanted them heated! Egg salad sandwich was a bit strange, the use of two halves of a relatively cold untoasted flatbread as the bread for this was a bit of a weird choice, and because it wasn't porous like normal bread, the filling had a hard time gripping and staying in. I had a question about an item containing gluten and she went to the back and asked to verify. The matcha was delicious. Their mission is to offer "delicious, locally-roasted coffee, great service, exemplary eats and plentiful seating in a calming atmosphere just steps from the beach." How You Brewin Coffee Company was created to serve people coffee while fostering a sense of community. The Pompano Beach location is on Pier Street on the first floor of the Pier Garage. You can park in the garage or there is some metered street parking. This area is part of the new Pompano Beach Fishing Village, a six acre complex of restaurants and shops across from the pier. The How You Brewin menu offers specialty drinks including lattes, mochas, cold brew, nitro cold brew, fruit smoothies and coffee frappes. Food options include healthy bowls, sandwiches, toasts and flatbreads, salads and a selection of pastries and desserts. I stopped in during a visit to the area for brunch. After consulting the menu I ordered a mocha iced latte with the Turkey BLT. The rich and chocolaty coffee was the perfect accompaniment to the sandwich made with thick slices of turkey, crunchy bacon, and fresh vegetables on whole grain bread. It was served with chips and a pickle. For dessert I couldn't resist a piece of their crumb cake which just screams New Jersey bakery to me. It was just as good as the crumb cakes I grew up on. They served it warm and it was heavenly. I love the beach themed decor and blue ocean accent colors. Service was friendly and welcoming and prices are reasonable. There are many different seating options with booths, tables, and a lounge area inside but they also have a really nice patio area out front too. The Fishing Village is becoming a premier tourist destination and a coffee shop like this is a welcome addition. read more

I'm so disappointed that we did not find How You Brewin' earlier in our trip! Their drinks are INCREDIBLE, their food is fresh and full of flavor, and their staff are super friendly. I had their Lovely Lavender Matcha, which was truly the best matcha latte I've ever had. The vanilla complimented the lavender deliciously and their oat milk thickened up the drink in the best way. For breakfast, I ordered their Healthy Start sandwich which was also very good. I was worried that the egg whites would be tasteless, but they weren't thanks to the spinach, cheddar cheese, and whole grain toast. We were visiting during the Pompano Beach Jazz Festival, so we were able to enjoy a lovely live Jazz band while we waited for our food. Their cafe is clean, bright, and has a great aesthetic. It's located about two blocks from the Pompano Beach Pier and beach, so it was easy to pick up breakfast and enjoy it with a view. I ordered the healthy start sandwich, and it was more of a miserable start, there was NO flavor, literally had to add salt, pepper, mayo, ketchup, and hot sauce, I feel like I shouldn't have to add that to a sandwich I paid for, disappointing. My friend got the banana berry oatmeal bowl, and it was simply just a bowl of oatmeal, no flavor, no pizazz, pretty disappointing. I'd been watching this place getting ready to open for over a month. And looking forward to a new place in Pompano. And one near the beach. I liked the idea that it wasn't just a place for coffee alone, but one that also offered food and pastries as well. We stopped by for lunch. We found easy parking on the street nearby. But there is also the garage not far away. The place is located on a side street which for some reason I didn't realize. I had never heard of "pier street" (it's address) before as it is relatively new. The restaurant itself is huge and takes up most of the block. In addition to comfortable seating on couches, there are booths, and high tops and regular tables inside plus a large patio area with covered tables outside. You order at the counter, and they call your name for pickup. I got a decaf ice coffee. They nicely asked if they should leave room for me to add milk. Most places don't ask this. In addition, I ordered their chicken salad sandwich. My husband got a regular iced coffee and tried their chicken flatbread. I really liked the flavor of their coffee. It's not bitter like some places (who shall be nameless, but they begin with a *). You help yourself to the milk of your choice from almond to half and half. In speaking with the gals taking our order, we learned that this is their third location -- and the first one in Florida. The flagship (and one other location) is in New Jersey. My sandwich was quite good. It had lettuce and tomato on wholewheat toast. The chicken was shredded and mixed with mayo and some almonds and I'm not sure what else. It looked like tuna fish but tasted fine. My husband's flatbread had avocado on top (the "California" part, I guess), and bacon, cheese, and a ranch dressing drizzled all over the top. The only thing he didn't care for was the base bread as he felt it was a bit too "doughy" (his description) but the toppings were fine. They should do quite well here. They've already been adopted by the work from wherever computer crowd (several booths taken by them) and they offer another less expensive option for the residents and businesspeople in the area. We didn't get to try any of the many pastries/desserts displayed in the case by the counter. But they all looked quite tempting. They have many different types of coffees from which to choose as well as teas... If you're craving a coffee and a sweet something or even lunch, and you're in the area, this place is worth a stop. Or even if you've had meal at one of the fancier places across the street and want to continue your conversation, this is the place. They are open until 6 pm. This new coffee place is right near the Pompano Beach Pier. Lots of paid street parking available. I ordered the Cali Flatbread which had cubes of avocado and chicken, bacon, cheese and a drizzle of aioli and ranch mayonnaise. The flatbread was soft and doughy but overall it was good. My coffee was very good, not bitter/burnt like some other coffee houses. We didn't try any of the desserts this time around. A cute coffee spot in Pompano Beach, right near the pier! Got to cowork here and loved how spacious the inside was. There was so many seating options: community table, couches, large booths, and more. I also loved how there was a good amount of outlets around, seemingly ready for anyone to work out of here. I'm so used to coffee spots being small and quaint and I had the same idea for this one but was pleasantly surprised at how big it was (not too big) with a lot of windows for great natural lighting. For parking, there's a ton of street parking around and a parking structure you can park in, which is what this business is actually attached to. It's all pay for parking. If you have the Pay By Phone app, you can use that or the meters. Everyone was super friendly and accomodating. Their menu has a good selection. Of course, with a name like How You Brewin, their coffee was their specialty. I'm not a coffee drinker so I didn't get to try this but I hope to come back and try their teas, which looked great. Unfortunately no matcha but that's okay! I got the Turkey Asiago sandwich which comes with cranberry mayo and romaine on multigrain. The sandwich was good but I just realized now that it didn't seem to have any asiago on it which would have added to the sandwich. Even without it, it was really good, especially with the cranberry mayo. I love sweet & savory so it was a great choice. The sandwich came with chips & a pickle, my fav sandwich additions!
