Ok. Yes it's a tiny hole in the wall type restaurant and I guess that is good to know going in. As yelper Marqus stated (a number of years back), the restaurant was showing its age back then -- a bit dingy around the edges. But I was intrigued by recent pictures by yelper Jen S and the glowing reviews. Thanks for telling us that there is a parking lot behind the restaurant. That was very helpful. We parked and walked over. Inside there are about 5 seats at the counter and a small number of tables. They do a big take out business. And they have delivery through Delivery Dudes, as well. You order and pay at the counter as you enter. It's cash only, but there's an ATM right there, if necessary. We knew we were going to try their cheese steak. We decided to get one large sandwich and share it. As my husband likes onions and I don't, we got the onions on the side for him to add in afterwards. We added green peppers though to the steak and cheese. There are other optional toppings as well -- ranging from hot peppers to mushrooms... We upgraded to a combo for an additional $3 -- requesting well done fries and one drink. The Philadelphia cheese steak came out piping hot, stuffed generously with steak and cut up green peppers and held together with cheese on a very fresh hoagie roll. They nicely cut it in half for us. A large basket of extra well done crinkle cut fries came next. And we helped ourselves to a Coke from the machine. The sandwich really was absolutely delicious. You won't care what your surroundings are -- and that's the reason they have such good ratings -- the food! They have lots of other hot grilled sandwiches on their menu -- over 20 choices. You can get any of them as a small or a large. And any of them can be made into a combo. In addition they have cold subs, salads, wings, burgers and hot dogs, assorted diner type side orders, and even a few Greek items (like gyros and stuffed grape leaves, etc.). Besides soda, they have iced tea, beer, and wine. There are daily specials, Monday through Friday, posted on a board. Monday is large steak; Tuesday is large chicken Philly; Wednesday is Gyro; Thursday 10 wings; and Friday is a large Meatball. All are combos with fries and a drink and are only $10 including tax! I love little places like this and delight that they have a good faithful following, particularly when they are located practically next door to a new, modern chain restaurant, in this case being aTaco Bell. The best thing about the place is the food. I've been scouring the area in search of a decent Philly Cheese streak and here I finally found it, so it was just like being in South Philly again. Also, their Chicago Style hotdog is definitely one of the better ones in the area. The cook minces and dices the onions and tomatoes fresh, right while you wait, warms the sesame seed bun on the grill. However, I didn't see any neon relish (unpardonable sin) on mine and didn't detect the flavor of the traditional dash of celery salt, but the actual hot dog (hence I pardon the unpardonable) in the bun was in fact a much larger hot dog than is served elsewhere. One more thing. Though a part of its name is "deli," I would safely venture to say that it is not; not even close to what one generally thinks of as being a delicatessen today.
