I can now understand why this small Italian cafe has such high ratings. Everything was excellent! We stopped by for lunch. This place had been recommended by a guy we sat next to and chatted with at a pompano restaurant we frequent. We took the only open two-top table and looked over the menu. A number of items were appealing so it was hard to choose. My husband had their open faced salmon tartine. It had capers and thin slices of onions on top of the salmon and a layer of cream cheese below. He said it was very good. He had a coffee afterwards. I chose their tuna salad with artichokes panini (sandwich). The ciabatta bread was wonderful as was the tuna. I purposely ate only half my sandwich so I could have dessert. I had a slice of tarta de Nonna -- one of my absolute favorite desserts. Plus in south Florida it's hard to find. While dining at our favorite French Bakery, a seatmate mentioned this place as one of his favorites. We can appreciate how it is a favorite! A light lunch today. I had the Smoked Salmon Tartina which was wonderful. Two slices of Italian bread with cream cheese, a generous amount of smoked salmon, a drizzle of olive oil, slivers red onion and capers. The food is consistently fantastic - I've had the chicken piccata probably ten times already, plus the penne arrabbiata and a delicious potato-and-artichoke pasta. The croissants are incredible; the cream-filled one might be my favorite, but when it's not available, the apricot and chocolate are just as amazing. Their lattes are lovely too. I find myself going several times a week now. Sometimes I settle in for a full meal, coffee, and dessert; other times I grab take-out or stop in for a quick latte and croissant. The café has a warm, neighborhood feel; many of the tables are filled with locals speaking Italian, chatting across the room in a way that adds to the charm. I was excited to try this place since it's right down the street from where I live. My friend and I both ordered cappuccinos which were perfect I don't like super strong coffee and this cappuccino was a perfect blend of coffee and foamed milk. We did not try any food, however they do sell variety of items including panna cotta & and other Italian desserts. What a gem! This coffee place is very close to the beach. It is easy to miss when you're simply cruising by as it is on the side of a Main Street and not very flashy. So please, use your navigation or phone when getting to it. La Bottega is the definition of a "hole in the wall" coffee shop, which to my surprise, was very busy! LOVE this cute local coffee shop! The owners were so sweet and welcoming. I visited this spot a few times while down in Florida since I would get up to run in the mornings (I love seeing places this way while on vacay) They have authentic gelato, great coffees and lots of tables inside for a light meal while you enjoy your beverage or bite of choice. I recommend the iced latte with an extra shot of extra strong espresso! Every time I went in there for my after run latte they also gave me a little sweet cookie to enjoy for free.
