Afterwards, he explained their other services and what to do if my transmission ever became a serious problem. They did charge me an additional $75 to come to Parkville, But I thought it was worth it since I didn't have to drive to my usual mechanic and wait for them to finish the job. What I was told would be two day repair for my timing chain turned into a month-long experience with my car sitting in the shop. Communication was inconsistent at times, and I often felt in the dark about what was really happening. The shop initially quoted me around $2,600, then revised it to $4100 and offered a $800 discount. The total ended up at $3,908. During the repair, I was told that my dowel pin had broken in the camshaft, which required additional work. I receive a text message saying my car was ready for pickup. I came paid my balance in full. Less than a hundred feet of leaving out the parking lot my check engine light was back on and problem still existed. Im thankful I caught it in time because it was a Friday and they are closed on weekends. So it would have been my word against there's when it came time with correcting the problem. When I arrived for pickup today, the shop stated they waived an additional $800 fee for a solenoid recalibration/replacement that was directly related to the timing chain work they had just performed. I feel strongly that this should have been included in the original service and not presented as an "extra" charge after I had already paid. To their credit, I really appreciated the friendliness of the two administrative assistants, who went above and beyond to help me. They provided me with a shuttle ride home when I dropped off my car, even paid for me an Uber to pick up the loaner vehicle, and made sure I had a loaner car for the month while mine was being repaired. Those accommodations meant a lot during a very long process. The shop also test drove my car for 40+ minutes before releasing it, and the check engine light has not come back on yet. I appreciate that they ultimately covered the $800 charge, but overall the experience left me questioning trust, timelines, and transparency. If you use this shop, know that while they will work with you and provide support, you'll need to ask a lot of questions, push back on extra fees, and keep good records. The repair seems to be holding for now, but the process was much more difficult and drawn out than it should have been.

I called AG Auto Repair on Saturday morning to ask when they could take a look at my car. I arrived a few minutes after 3 and the guy there (the owner) said his son must have been the one to answer the phone and that they actually didn't have time to look at my car. He tells me to come back the next day at 9am. I come back the next day at 9am and he looks my car over but can't figure out what's wrong with it just from taking the wheel off where the noise was coming from. He tells me it would be $100 to drain the oil to check for some kind of problem with the transmission(?) or $220 to take the wheel off again and look at where the axle and the transmission meet. I'm very dissatisfied with the service. First of all, it's not a free diagnostic if you can't figure out the problem without charging me a bunch of money. Second, why didn't he look for that axle problem when he already had the wheel off? I'm not a mechanic (obviously) but it seemed a little bait-and-switch-y to me. I understand they can't work for free so I'm not leaving a one star review, but I will say that I took it to a different mechanic and he was able to diagnose the problem and give me a reasonable estimate to fix it within half an hour.

The gentleman in the…read morefront asked if I could drop it off, being a company vehicle and my only transportation I asked to schedule an appointment two days later at 1pm. I then come back on that day and am on time for the appointment. I waited about 30 minutes then he stated he was waiting on approval from the fleet services. Had he said that at the beginning I could've had it approved in 5 minutes. I called and had it approved so now it's 1:35pm. Then I proceeded to wait from 1:35pm to 2:45 pm and they just had pulled the truck in but not even started working on it. At 2:50 pm I asked the gentleman how long it was going to be because I had class at 4pm. He then had a tech stop what he was doing to start working on my wheels and stated it would be ready in 20 minutes. It is now 3:30pm and only one tire has been completed. Remember I have class at 4pm and I've been waiting almost 3 hours now. My question is, why even make an appointment for 1pm if they don't even pull it in just to not even start working on it at 2:40 pm? Very unprofessional, very disorganized and a huge lack of communication as well. I'll never bring any vehicle here and will never recommend Firestone again.
