    Bed was comfortable

Clean, simple, quiet! It is conveniently right off the main road but set far back enough to be very quiet. We have stayed here several times and have always been impressed by the efficient and pleasant welcome. There is coffee ready early, although the breakfast itself is quite modest. If you are looking for an easy no frills place to comfortably lay your head, this is a good choice. Love the groovy 1960s HoJo colour palette as well.

I travel for a living & stay in a lot of 2-3 star hotels. Very seldom stay at a HJ. Needless to say, it was my last choice of hotels at this exit (other hotels had TERRIBLE reviews). So, I chose HJ & was glad I did. My room was clean & furnished nicely. It was fresh looking .... not the typical bland room that I'm accustomed to. My ONLY negative ... I checked in around 10ish ... & after a long day on the road was looking forward to a hot & refreshing shower. NOPE! Water was lukewarm so I passed on the shower.

For under $100, Ive been here two times in past 5 days. You are greeted with air set to 72 in room (nice) clean and updated. The staff around 11pm is friendly. The parking lot is well lit. 2 soaps and shampoo. Tub has a no slip matt. Bed neatly made with an abundance of pillows. TV, cable and small refrigerator. Breakfast is just enough and has an assortment. Plenty of hot coffee. From parking lot, to checkin and to room you can't help take notice that they are serious about making you feel at home.

    Breakfast Room

Second time staying here. An older building, but perfectly fine for a stop during travels. The breakfast is good and seating area comfortable. There is just hard boiled eggs, but more of other things. What is striking here is the staff, which makes all the difference. From a pleasant late check-in by Kia to an equality pleasant early checkout by Amanda. Byron was quick to replenish breakfast items or cleaning tables in between, along with helping with breakfast machine instructions (he noticed I needed assistance). Francis R. who was just waiting in the breakfast area apparently for her shift to start, gave her valuable grits making advice without asking. Another worker, Retha, also helped us outside without asking. There is lots of lodging options nearby, but it is the consciousness work of these nice staff members that makes us comfortable and happy to return here!

Remember when? Maybe you will if you're a certain age.

Obviously, Howard Johnson's is not the Ritz, but a clean, comfortable, convenient stay, and an excellent value. Add in a bit of nostalgia since the first Howard Johnson's restaurant originated in our locality. Great for an overnight stay on our trip.

I was encouraged to stay at Howard Johnson's for the years of a good reputable quality motel and service.

My stay here was pleasant. Checking in, I must say Jenna was great. Truly an asset to this business. The hotel is set off the highway, so it took me a moment to find it, but once I found it I was glad I chose to stay here. It is refreshing to find a hotel like this. I travel frequently for business and I have my share of horror stories. It is nice to find places like this that make working on the road a lot more enjoyable.

Inside the lobby area is a small snack area for purchasing items and free coffee + tea area with sugar station and hot water. The check in process was extremely fast and friendly. The elevator is very much a ride at Universal Studios with a rocky screech landing. But safe overall is kinda funny tho but not. The hallways were clean and well kept. The room was very spacious and I liked that they had a shelf to put your key cards and luggage. They had spacious desks, lots of lighting throughout and a dual shade option to blackout the room for sleep. The coffee/tea bar has a Keurig maker, but leaked mini water bottles to make the coffee. The beds were comfy and the shower was good. The bathroom lighting is quite harsh but there is a motion censored nightlight. By the TV is a cool curved touch light with European outlets. There are plenty of outlets with both standard and USB outlets. The only tiny thing i would add is a charging pad on the counters in case ppl forget their chargers. TIP: Turn the knob all the way to the left to get to the hot water. Now let's talk breakfast - skip it if you like cool lackluster potatoes and eggs. The only saving grace is the coffee, instant oatmeal, oikos yogurt, and dry cereals. There are also a few places to eat up the road if bfast is important. TIP: If you go behind the breakfast area in the main lobby area, you can sit in a less crowded area near the business center. Check out was just as fast and easy. I've would definitely go here again!

Self parking is $5 per day, and is located across the street from the hotel. A helpful tip would be to unload baggage before parking if you have any heavy/large suitcases. While the walk is just a couple of hundred yards, it may be difficult on an especially hot or rainy day. After check-in, we went to the room which was the standard Hyatt Place layout - a comfortable bed with a reasonably sized TV, a small sofa and functional bathroom.. I enjoyed the water pressure and temperature of the shower. The next morning, we enjoyed the complimentary breakfast with eggs, bacon, fruit and coffee. The lobby itself is large and beautifully appointed, with a full business center and pods for individuals to work. The hotel location is in the center of Florence, a relatively small/walkable downtown area with restaurants and shopping. I'm here to talk about the subjective stuff -- the comfort factors that can make or break a night on the road. The king bed? MASSIVE. Basically a campground for two adults. Plenty of space, very comfortable. Now the nuanced bits. The room had more ambient light than I prefer -- tough to get it fully dark. The pillows were small and slightly lumpy, and the sheets felt thin. Shower water pressure was mid, and the hot water didn't quite reach my personal "steam therapy" setting. Towels were a 6-7 out of 10: softer than DoubleTree, but not as oversized. I do travel prepared, though. I've got an Amazon sleep mask that is straight-up lights-out defense. Once I put that on? Out cold. And just when I thought the sleep mask had secured the victory, two trains decided to blast their horns at 1:40 a.m. and 4:41 a.m. ‍ Bottom line: solid for a one-night stop. But if you're sensitive to light, pillows, or shower pressure like I am, those details matter.

It's unsweetened so it's healthy. They provide various toppings such as brown sugar, dried cranberries, nuts. The scrambled egg is not too salty and not watery. I really enjoyed my healthy breakfast.
