I stayed here during the Boston marathon weekend since the prices were way more reasonable than in Boston proper, this is actually a good location to get in and out of downtown since it's literally half a mile (10 minutes walk) to the T Red Line Wollaston station that can get you downtown in about 20 minutes. This hotel was absolutely fine, plenty of space in the room. It comes with a mini fridge, microwave a work space desk, dresser and tv, and near the door there's a space to hang some of your clothes along with an iron & ironing board. In the morning from 6am - 9am they have free breakfast with bagels, bread, mini individual cereal packs, juice, bacon, eggs, and sausage. Over on Hancock near the Red Line station there's a CVS &. 7-11 closer to the hotel so you can grab some essentials, also in that area there's a block with about 10-15 various restaurants. For me this was a good enough location to get in and out of the city without breaking the bank. Also the staff at the front desk were extremely helpful with and accommodation to me with my check in and checking out process. read more

As much as I can appreciate a no-frills stay, the issues were too abundant to let slide. Let's start with the most important thing: cleanliness. In terms of the blacklight test, other than a couple small spots on the toilet, the bathroom and room did not throw up any red (glowing, I suppose?) flags. However, Imagine this: I get out of the shower and bring the towel to my face, and on it is a long hair that is neither mine, nor could it have traveled with me. The same thing applies to the floor towel, which, while also unacceptable, is not as severe as the main bath towel. A smaller unpleasant note is in regard the room coffeemaker. The inserts provided were for a different model/type altogether, thus rendering the machine unusable. I do want to recognize that there is an extremely simple breakfast included with your stay. Next, while I didn't book a Howard Johnson in Quincy for the view, the window was spitting distance from the brick exterior of the neighboring car wash. Bear in mind, especially in the early hours, the amount of daylight is negligible. In terms of bedding, this was average. Not the cardboard boxes of that Motel 6 I visited once, but also nothing worth writing home about. Something that did affect sleep quality though? Noise! Footsteps either from the hallway or above were very clearly audible. Worse still, it seemed someone may have moved a piece of furniture upstairs, and the noise was so loud I initially thought it was thunder! If the thundering sound of a bumped dresser doesn't bug you, the lack of a nightlock will. While Quincy is generally a safe city, this is the first time I found myself in a lodging establishment without a nightlock. Final verdict: I am not someone who needs any specific amenities - only a clean, comfortable, and safe place to stay. Regrettably, this Howard Johnson missed the mark on all three of these. As such, there will be no return visit, on matter how low their prices drop. read more

My overall stay was good, but I have a few complaints. For starters, the room had a musty smell when I first walked in, the walls were pretty dirty, the tables never got wiped down in the breakfast room, ever. And you can hear a lot of noise above you if your room is on the first level. Also the tv is not a smart tv, so no streaming platforms. That was disappointing. Other than that we had no other issues. I was in town to support my friends that were running in the Boston Marathon. To save a few bucks, I stayed out here in Quincy where the daily room rates were a lot more reasonable. When I arrived to check-in, I saw that they were doing some finishing touches with renovations. The stairwell smelled like the place was just given a fresh coat of paint. The room that I was given was on the second floor and looked to be in good shape. I found everything to be in good working order. They had breakfast starting from 6:30 am every morning. It was easy enough for me to get where I needed to go by taking the MBTA light rail from the nearby Wollaston station. read more

I booked a room with a king size bed. When I got to the hotel they said they didn't have any clean rooms with a king size bed and had to give me a room with two queen beds. I had a long day and wanted to sleep in but was woken up early to pounding and drilling in the next room having construction done. Understandable remodeling rooms but do it when your guests check out or have those rooms unavailable. When I went to go to bed last night it was freezing in the room and of course the heater did not work. Close your hotel down completely and fix it first. Stay away from here till they are finished remodeling and hire staff to clean EVERY room after it is used. read more

Walls are super thin. I can hear the bed next door squeaking. My bed squeaks, and the shower is cold. There are minor maintenance issues that need tending too. Weird that there is no central heating thermostat. Choice was heater or AC, not temp control. Breakfast was the absolute worst I've ever seen. Potatoes were served but the skillet was never turned on. The eggs and sausage were cold, no liquid creamer or milk for the coffee. The bananas were only a day or 2 from being unusable. No plates or napkins. I had to search and find them myself. Only a handful of granola bars out even though there were 2 large groups in the hotel ( close to 60 people). I honestly wouldn't pay more than $50 a night for this and that's being generous. read more

I didn't expect much but having to clean the toilet seat myself before using it was a bit much. See the picture of the floor for an example of how dirty the bathroom was. The man working the front desk flat out refused to give me a fresh pillowcase or sheet (I'd have changed the bed myself) and the bedding was not clean Overwhelming smell of industrial cover up air 'freshener' which I tried to alleviate by opening the tiny mildewed window. I ended up going out to buy Lysol spray for every surface and a cheap throw blanket to sleep on. Thankfully it was just one night and the day staff were very pleasant. read more

The first night there, we had a bad room w no heat or air and problems in the bathroom; we talked to the staff that night and they tried their best to fix and accommodate us but the hotel was sold out. Thankfully the next morning the staff made sure to give us a different room , which was perfectly fine. We appreciated their efforts to get us into a better room and friendly demeanor. The hot breakfast was great and fully stocked ! And, like I said, the customer service was excellent. I would stay here again. read more

Stayed here for a Christmas vacation and 4-5/8'daus, had no hot water in the shower. They made efforts by switching to a different room but same result. Christmas time in the greater Boston area is pretty cold so I'd say to have hot water to shower is a must!!! Upon my checkout, they offered me a 30% refund which I accepted and was assured it would be refunded within a few days. Well, after multiple calls (15+), I'm still waiting for a refund that appears that will ever come. All I ask is for them to do what THEY offered. The deafening fire alarm went off at 12:08 in the middle of the night and stayed on for a minimum of one hour. It went off again after the fire department left. By then it was 1:15 AM and the temperature outside was -8 Fahrenheit. When I asked the night time desk clerk when the alarm would be permanently shut off, he got all upset. He is an unhealthy, nervous little fellow with an ashen facial complexion. He was very condescending calling me questions "rhetorical" and waving his hands all over in front of me. I told him twice not to touch me. After the second time he told me to stop talking to other hotel guests . A few minutes later, totally unable to take control of his broken water pipe, he yelled at me again and told me he wanted me to leave the premises and never call back. He then changed it to you have 15 minutes to pack up and leave before I call the police. It was his broken water pipe, it was his fire alarm blaring hotel wide for over and hour and it was -8 F outside when he threw me out. The hotel is OK but this guy is a total jackass! read more

Practically brand new and looked it when we were here. Pleasant workers. Enjoyed the continental breakfast provided (scrambled eggs, sausage, breads, pastries, etc.). The rooms were large and clean and had outlets on the night stand, very convenient. Sadly the WiFi was out all night, rather inconvenient. Plenty of parking although leaving the property, you are only able to make a right, NOT a left. Located very close to a T station and to Boston itself. It appears this place was recently remodeled. Although just a basic motel, they do offer a complimentary breakfast. From a few baked items, to make your own waffles, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, scrambled eggs, either bacon or sausage links, apple or orange juice and coffee that is served throughout the day. Our room had two beds that sit high but very comfortable. Their workout room consist of a treadmill and two cycles for those seeking "spinning", however: there are no weights. There are a few nearby eateries and the Train station that are all within a mile walk. It is a no frills motel, but decent and comfortable. read more

Two stars rating: Meh, I've experienced better. My family and I stayed there over this past weekend and yes I agree with other reviewers that the outside is lovely. The inside is nice as well but it looks like it is still pending renovations. The lobby smelled like hairspray (not sure why?) When we got to our room, my husband checked underneath the mattress and found what looked like a wet towel and brown flakes. We called the front desk because we were scared it might be bugs. The lady was nice and did move us. She called us later to tell us that it was "brown rice" and not bugs. I had to ask my husband's family if "brown rice" in boston is slang for a type of bug (apparently not). I honestly don't believe the brown rice and for anyone willing to take a look at it, I have pictures. You can be the judge. The second room they put us in, the pull-down curtain had ducktape on it. The outlet which probably was damaged had blue tape on it. Additionally the walls were dirty, they had finger marks on them. I didn't want to call up again but felt some range of disappointment as I felt like the maintenance hasn't been kept. On the plus side, there was a complimentary breakfast that is served from 6 am to 9/10 am (don't quote me on the end time). They had a waffle maker but it was only 1 machine and everyone seemed to want a waffle. They had coffee but it really was undrinkable. I rather not get the breakfast and have a cleaner room. I just completed a 5 night stay (March 13-18) here and was quite satisfied. Upon my arrival, the front desk clerk Lindsay was quick to react to the issue of my original room not being ready. Lindsay was very apologetic and quickly arranged for a new room to be assigned to me. The daily breakfasts provided to all guests were hot, delicious and a variety of other items (toast, bagels, mini donuts,muffins and pastries) were also quite fresh and yummy. I would like to give a special 'shout out' to James Ford of the kitchen staff. This young man was very personable, had an infectious smile and disposition that was refreshing. I also appreciated his tips on how to navigate through the city to make my experience that much better for someone who was new to the area. Based upon this experience, I will definitely return to this hotel during my next visit to Quincy. I love the rich history of this city and the state of Massachusetts and I really enjoyed myself. The place looks great, but the problems with labor are apparently doing a job on them. The housekeeping is not done if you are there less than 4 days - you can make your own bed, leave the trash and towels out and they will collect them. And they did collect the towels but then they had NO towels to replace them with. I'm not sure if management didn't know how to run a washing machine or what, but when we went to the front desk (because they didn't pick up the phone) they said they had NO towels. The hotel was alright. Very clean and new. But the rooms are VERY basic. They don't accommodate much. The pillows are 12x12 in size. There's one small seat other than the bed, one side table and no hair dryer. The staff was very nice at the front desk. And the complementary breakfast was pretty good as well. I am a nervous, first-time college mom and I had to find a place for my son and my husband to stay while they visited UMass-Boston. I could not have asked for a friendlier, more hospitable guest services representative than Linda. Not only did she take care of them when they arrived, I had to book this hotel again for the orientation visit and she remembered both them AND she remembered speaking with me on the phone. My husband and son loved the hotel and I can't wait for my first visit to Boston with my son. this was a very disappointing experience. we walked in and waited 15 minutes to be acknowledged. another family was being helped at the desk. our check-in was otherwise brief. We entered the room and were surprised to find 2 queen beds, as we had reserved a king. strike 2. being tired we decided we'd just make it work for our 3 day reservation. after being in the room for less than 5 minutes we noticed the air smelled musty, damp, wet. walking in socks on the the floor my socks became damp. the smell of some type of deodorizer was obviously used to cover up the damp musty smell, unsuccessfully. looking further around the room has dirty walls, carpet pulling away from the wall, stains on walls in the bathroom, dirty linens. this place is a dump. the owners clearly do not have pride in ownership. furniture and items are extremely cheap. for the money, guests should get much more. extremely limited amenities. read more

Not sure where to begin. The place looks great and updated from the outside and decor seems somewhat updated on the inside, but it lacks for the price. Our room smelled like crap (literally a musty dog smell)almost to the point of me just sleeping in the car for the night. Had a very late check in and was only sleeping for a few hours so we decided to deal with it and just get through those few hours. The room did not feel clean at all. All of the towels were worn, stained and torn with frayed edges. Quincy seems to be a great little town but don't expect this to be the quaint little hotel in that quaint little town. The sites we saw coming and going out if these rooms, well I will leave that to your imagination. We read reviews well and I can only think that they were either fake writers, owners or the low life's that we saw going in and out. Who knows, but this place should defiantly not have Wyndham's name on it. It may also just be my opinion, but as for me I would never stay at this place or recommend it. That is my honest review. Oh and as far as did I complain to management. When we went to check out we were going to mention it, but there was no one anywhere to be found. We waited at the desk for 10 minutes and no one came, loaded stuff in the car and went back in 10 minutes later to wait another 5 minutes still no one so we just left and figured if there was an issue with charges we would just dispute via the credit card company. read more

Stayed 8 nights in this Hotel. They allow dogs. My room smelled horrible! Wet dog smell, dog urine smell in carpet. Someone else made the reservation as we had a block of rooms so I didn't want to complain. Did everything I could to cover the smell. Nothing worked! Gross! They should have animal FREE rooms. The place is new and clean, I have to acknowledge that; also, the breakfast staff are super nice. The problems I encountered are with the front desk employees. First, I was promised a AAA discount, but did not ultimately get it. I had asked a front desk clerk if the AAA discount had been applied, and they said it had been. When I got the bill, the discount had not been applied and the manager ended up explaining to me that because I booked through a third party, the hotel would not then offer the AAA discount (which it only offers if you book with them directly). It's fine that they have this policy, but the problem is that I was told the discount had been applied when it had not been. I think that if an employee tells me a discount was applied, then they should in the end honor that. Onto the second, and larger problem. I booked a 2 night stay with a single bed (I hadn't paid yet); I then called back to upgrade to a room with two beds. The hotel ended up charging me for both bookings, and then refunding me for only one night of the original booking. When I let the front desk clerk know that I had been refunded only half of the original booking, she told me that their records showed I had booked 2 different rooms for one night! I clarified that I had only booked 1 room (why would I need 2 rooms?!), and then upgraded is all. She responded that she would show me their records; I told her that this was not relevant as that was not what happened. I followed up by asking to speak to the manager and leaving the manager a phone message and an email. I have gotten no response. Totally unacceptable. read more

Interesting find. Boston is expensive. My husband and I often pay extra to stay in a clean hotel but now that we have found this clean, newer and well run Howard Johnson we don't have to pay a lot. This Wheelchair accessible hotel is within a mile of the ocean and a great seafood place (Tony's Clam shop). It's a great hotel location outside of Boston. read more
