    The potatoes.... they were EVERYTHING!
    Mim B.

I had a lovely stay. Granted, I was only in the room to change and sleep but everything was very clean and cozy. I also loved that the temp control was digital and easy to figure out. This is ridiculous and not important at all, but mirrors were really great for selfies! Huge shout out to Linda who was super friendly and helpful. I was exhausted when I arrived but the check-in process took mere seconds. The printers were being glitchy and I was in a huge rush to get to an event. Once again, Linda took care of the issue for me in seconds and had a sense of humor about it too. I got back pretty late and was starving. The gentleman at the desk saved me from going on a wild goose chase trying to find an open restaurant - Uber Eats services the area (thank goodness). Lastly, I didn't eat much at breakfast but the potatoes were literally amazing & the coffee was really good, too! And yes....I could smell the cookies in the lobby at 6:30pm. Nice touch!

I stayed here because my air conditioner in my apartment in Quincy was broken on a 90+ degree weekend.... I took the glowing recommendations of Yelpers to stay here, and boy was I disappointed! To start with, the afternoon front desk person "Margaret" was incredibly rude. She barely made eye contact and had an attitude for no reason. When I got to my room, it was dark, dingy, and smelled of mold/mildew. I called the front desk to ask for a room change because I have severe allergies. Margaret said that she would "see what she could do, but all the rooms are going to smell because of moisture..." Umm, OK. A little while later, she gives me a key to a new room. This time, the room smells like a wet dog. And the AC barely works. But I was too tired to keep switching rooms so I dealt with it. As the night wore on, I noticed that I could hear people talking, kids screaming, TV's in rooms across the hall. There is apparently NO soundproofing between the door and hallways. I ended up using couch cushions and towels to try to dampen the sound. Overall, this was a terrible hotel. Dark, dirty, smelly, and noisy. And the staff is rude. The only redeeming quality is that it's close to South Shore Plaza. Not worth the $125 price tag. I left after only one night.

Stayed here once for an overnight and enjoyed my stay enough to bring the family to visit Boston. Thought the rooms were clean and decent sized. Enjoyed the breakfast options and layout. What made it better than average was the pool was a decent size that my kids could actually swim and enjoy it. This location isn't great and it's not accessible, but the shuttle service to the Metro was convenient and we were able to coordinate to the point that it actually worked out for us.

Cost aside, I appreciated a lot of the little things about this hotel that made the overall experience enjoyable. The hotel does not have a restaurant, but it has a large area to the right where you can seat for breakfast, and it's very good for a hotel breakfast (minus waffles, which is fine with me). Coffee and tea are available around the clock. If you want to stay local for lunch and dinner, there's a variety of restaurants within walking distance. At the front desk, they offer complimentary ice cream sandwiches, another nice perk. There's a small bar with a fun bartender. The liquor is limited, but they can make basic cocktails, and they have selections of beer and wine. Another nice touch in every room is the L-shaped corner sofa. The room was reasonably quiet, and the bed was comfortable, but light came into the room from under the door and above the shade. The parking lot is a nuisance. There are about a dozen spots immediately in front of the hotel (several are for handicap and some are reserved), and the rest are on the other side of the road you drive through the complex. The area in front of the hotel is large enough to accommodate several cars loading or unloading at the same time.

Our room was of modest size but looks to have been newly renovated. It was very clean, with bed that was firm and comfortable. The furniture was in very good shape. Staff was friendly and helpful when I requested small items. The breakfast was listed as continental but was actually a hot breakfast with pancakes, eggs and sausage as well. And great all day coffee. Also noticed that the price of gas in this town was significantly cheaper than in any other areas we traveled to in the Boston area. Highly recommended.

I went over the room and bathroom with a blacklight, and things were pretty much spotless. As someone who cleans his own house using one, this is difficult. Absolutely no complaints, and they met my high expectations (I mean, how many guests examine the foot of the toilet using a blacklight?! The Room - The room was notably small. There was very little space on either side of the bed. I seem to recall a desk, so it's not like a pod hotel, but still cramped. As I was one person staying one night, it wasn't a big deal, but thought it was worth mentioning. Speaking of me being one person: Desk Staff: The person when I was checking in Thursday night was not welcoming at all. I walk in, and he growls "Reservation?" I say "yes", followed by a "good evening, by the way" a few second after. During the check in process it was repeated ad nauseum that I am not allowed to have any guests in the room who are not on the reservation, even after I specifically stated it would just be me. Clearly, they've been burned on this in the past, but that is no excuse to treat me as if I brought an extra person after being told not to. The person working the next morning was much kinder, friendlier, and more welcoming. Moving on... Bedding - The mattress and sheets were pretty average. Just fine for an Inn, and I had no issues with either. Bathroom - The only complaints I have is that the soap was a cheaper variety (common in places like this and even nicer), and the lighting above the vanity was harsh. Otherwise, the hot water was plenty hot, and the water pressure respectable. While it appeared more like the set up one would have at home, for an Inn, I have no complaints. Breakfast - Surprisingly, it was on par (if not slightly better) to what I had in the DoubleTree in Rockland, and Doubletree charges almost $20 for theirs, while this one was free. It was some pastries, pancakes, sausage patties, and some egg, IIRC. Thus, an experience that exceeded my expectations, and would have resulted in a five-star rating if not for a staffer who would seemingly make people swear on a religious book of their choosing that they're categorically not going to bring any guests into the rooms.

(While I see reviews concerning a relative lack of parking, between the transit station and the swarm of Ubers in the area, why bother bringing a car at all?) As with IHG hotels generally, there is a daily well-prepared buffet breakfast with numerous options. The desk clerks are accommodating, the rooms are clean and spacious, the beds are very comfortable, and one can rent rooms with kitchenettes. About the only fly in the ointment is that the decor is depressingly corporate (dark brown and taupe), but it's not as if I have dinner parties in my hotel room. Just FYI, this is the same operation as "Holiday Inn Express - Quincy," and whichever one at which you register, you'll wind up here.

With all of that in mind, the Extended Stay - Braintree provided the perfect mid-point for everything I had on my schedule. Furthermore, the South Shore Plaza is a block away and I needed to go to Sephora. Lmbooooooo. Extended Stay - Braintree was very wasy to find as it sits right off of the main road. Once I was on the property, parking was easy and efficient as well. As I booked online via Hotels.com my check-in was super quick, super easy, and done within minutes of my arrival at the desk. The location offers Tap To Pay thus making it seamless for me to pay my deposit and be on my way. While at the desk, the agent who assisted me was very pleasant. She greeted me with a smile, she was very efficient at her job, and she was engaging throughout the entire check-in process. ‍ Upon arriving to my room (324), it was what I needed for the night: Spacious, Clean, Well Lit, Quiet Floor (3rd), and the TV worked. LoL. It's the simple things in life... the one area of opportunity that would have enhanced my experience would have been if there was some sort of clean air fragrance in the room. The room had a slight stale smell as if it had not been used in a few days and the air hadn't circulated at all. However, the bed was comfortable, the hot water was hot, and the water pressure was at full force. (WooHoo) All in all, my stay at the Extended Stay - Braintree was pleasant and I will definitely book again on my next trip to Boston. **If you are looking for even more value, Extended Stay - Braintree does have grab and go breakfast but I checked out before breakfast time (5:30a) so I didn't get to experience it.

The rooms are not well maintained or cleaned. Black mold throughout the A/C system (in 2 different suites, not isolated), dirty, sticky light switches in the bedroom (think about that for a minute - ew), sticky floors, carpets not vacuumed, dishes left piled in the dishwasher - which smells moldy. Stains on the wall (that could have easily been wiped off). Tables sticky. Dead bugs killed and left STUCK to the windows. The list goes on. The place is disgusting and a huge stain on the Candlewood Suites name. This is not the IHG hotel I have stayed in in the past; I've never been disappointed before. This place is nasty - and that's being kind. The ONLY decent thing about the place is the staff. The front desk staff were friendly, provided towels when needed, and when I checked into the first suite (and it was filthy) they switched me to another suite (still gross, but less filthy) without question. Staff, however, do not make up for the level of disgust this place exhibits. I travel a lot. I travel a lot to this area of the country. I will never, ever stay in this place again. The ONLY reason I did not leave after checking in and finding the horrid conditions was because I was in town for my mother's funeral. I was too busy, exhausted, and overcome with grief to go through the hassle of finding another hotel and moving.
