I heard a great review about their ice cream RAZZLE. I was with that experienced goer who was willing to escort the group through the crowded parking lots. Ah, did you know that they apply an automatic 4% discount if you pay with cash? See their sign. On the sunny day, I ate quickly a chocolate and cherry flavor burst small cake cone ice cream with a surprising chocolate Teddy Graham bear cookie on top It was so quick that I did not notice the taste of the flavors. This is a nostalgic ice cream shop located i the heart of Greenwood. It dates back to the 1960s and is across the street from Old City Park and just a block from the library. They have a parking lot behind it that it shares with another business and there is parking across the street as well. In addition to the shop, they also have an ice cream truck that you may find parked on the side of the shop. It is an old school ice cream shop that serves a limited food menu that includes hot dogs, corn dogs, fries, burgers, tenderloin, mini funnel cake, and chicken tenders. As far as ice cream goes, they have cups, bowls, sundaes, floats, shakes, razzles, malts, banana splits, malts and parfaits. When I got there, the line was wrapped around the building and into the parking lot. It did move relatively quick though. I was in the line about 15 minutes or so. The shop has a few tables and chairs around the shop and a decent sized patio with a bunch of tables and chairs on the side. The patio is located off of a small stream that has stairs that you can walk down to the stream. The shop sells food that you can feed to the fish in the stream. Once I got to to the window to place my order, I decided to go with the Caramel Apple Sundae. You place your order through a small glass and it is relayed to the workers in the back where they make your treat like some ice cream making Keebler elves. It took only a few minutes for it to be prepared. I had the littles with me so I got them dirt and Gummy Bear Sundaes and walked over to the park, where there are also picnic tables, and ate our treats there. The littles could not eat their treats fast enough because they wanted to play on the playground ( it is a nice one). My sundae was ok. It was nothing special. It was good, but the apple flavor was not there. It was vanilla with a few green streaks. I was a bit disappointed because I had such high hopes for the sundae. I may have just made a wrong selection or caught them on a bad day, but it is a nice old school shop anyway and is a staple in Greenwood. read more

Was in the mood for ice cream this weekend so I went to my neighborhoods social media page to ask if anyone knew if something good. This place repeatedly came up as a recommendation So I was excited to try it out. When I got to the little ice cream shop I was pretty excited to see a long line and a cute little property with a patio area and a creek beside it. I ordered a chocolate sundae and my teenager had a swirl cone and we sat down on the patio to enjoy our dessert. Everything we got tasted cheap and chemical-y. Nothing tasted like cream. It didn't even taste natural. If Wish.com sold ice cream mix, this is what it would taste like. No thank you, pass. read more

They have a great variety of classic ice cream parlor treats and also some traditional snack shack foods as well. They have only outdoor seating but it's a fabulous, large courtyard with chairs and tables. I loved stumbling across this little gem while visiting from out of town. read more

I already want to go back. You get a ton of food for the price. The only issue is their menu is too big and it's too hard to decide. Seems like they have a pretty large group of loyal followers. This place reminded me of summer camp when I was a kid. We always used to walk to a similar place for ice cream cones. This was my second time here, I don't know how I lived in Greenwood for 6 years and I never went here. My first time was a few months ago on the first day they opened up for the season and it was freezing. I'm not a huge ice cream person and definitely not when it's already cold. I had the pulled pork sandwich and crazy fries. The sandwich was huge and came out piping hot. The crazy fries are made-to-order twisted potato chips. They were the perfect amount of salty and crispy. I thought there was no way I could finish it all but I definitely did. And could've eaten more it was so good. They are making all orders to go right now. You can still sit and eat but they have less tables and chairs out to accommodate for social distancing. I've had the ice cream here, which is always good. On this visit, I tried food for the first time, and it was very good as well. I had the Chicago dog meal with home made chips as my side and an orange crush to drink. We also ordered a side of tots and a turtle Sunday. The home made chips were excellent. As a first time visitor to "downtown" Greenwood, I must thank the Yelpers of the world for bringing us to Mrs. Curl's ice cream! I was going in with low expectations, and was impressed with 1) The wide array of soft serve combos they have 2) The prices 3) The cute little garden area along the creek and 4) They have my other favorite snacks in the world including: onion rings, breaded mushrooms, and mozzarella sticks. Luckily, it was getting paved the following week as it contained a lot of dips. Shares the lot with a butcher shop. Small tables set up for relaxing and enjoying your ice cream. If I had to sum up Greenwood's fixture Mrs. Curl in one phrase, it would be "Dairy Queen-esque". You've got your classic vanilla and chocolate soft serve, blizzards disguised as razzled, sundaes, shakes, and malts. There's going to be something for everyone of every age for sure. Unlike Dairy Queen, you can have up to two flavor bursts in your soft serve. All of the combinations available gave me something to do while I waited in line, and by the time I placed my order, I was set on the medium vanilla cone with a pineapple-banana flavor burst. It was sweetly artificial yet reminiscent of anyone's small-town childhood. The chocolate teddy graham was a cute touch too. Should you go? Firstly: They do indeed take credit cards here! Mrs. Curl is NOT cash only. Just wanted to set the record straight. I love love love the kitschiness of this place. It's so old and run down, but in a lovingly kept way. The murals on the side of the walls are faded and chipped. The counter is tiled and spells out "Mrs. Curl" and "ice cream." There is a pond filled with fish that you can feed for a quarter, and ducks that roam around scavenging for dropped bits of this and that. The kitsch factor is strong with this one, and I love it. The soft-serve ice cream? It's alright. It's indistinguishable from Dairy Queen, to be honest with you. What sets is apart is the multitude of toppings, syrups, dips, nuts and what-have-you that you can put on or in your ice cream. This time, we ordered a blackberry shake, a butterscotch sundae with nuts, a chocolate soft serve in a cup, and a vanilla soft serve with a blue goo flavor burst. The ice creams come with a chocolate Teddy Graham on top, which is cute. My sundae was super sweet and a little cloying after a few bites. It also melted really fast, but this being soft-serve ice cream, I guess that comes with the territory. The lines can get long, I've heard. We visited on a rainy Sunday, so the lines weren't too bad, and we only waited about 15 minutes. I've been going to Mrs.Curl with my family for decades. The beginning of Spring is always celebrated here, during the summer, it's the coolest place to visit, the ice creams, razzles, Fruity ices, French, curly and wedge fries are always hot and plentiful. The onion rings are so popular, sometimes it runs out, the tenderloins are the best in the city, fried pickles and mushrooms are delicious.....and sadly it closes every year on Halloween, October 31st, but sometimes according to the weather, it stays open for a week after. read more

It has charm and atmosphere. The good isn't much to get excited about, in my opinion, but it's all about the ice cream anyway. The sweet treats are excellent and consistent. They have a tradition of topping cones with little teddy grahams, which the kids love. There's a wide variety of flavor and combo options. I particularly love the chocolate coffee Razzle. The servers are kind and efficient and the unique items they offer are wonderful and coveted during the hot summer months. They offer all kinds of frozen treats, but they also offer food! One of my favorite things to order is the Razzle with brownie pieces made chocolate! Yum! Note that if you don't specify "made chocolate", it will be made with vanilla ice cream...which actually isn't a bad option, either :) The customers are so friendly and do a great job! They offer outdoor seating right by a beautiful creek where ducks and other wildlife can often be seen, which I think adds to the experience! I am totally going to try this place again in the future because it is so popular, but at the moment I give it three stars for an "ok" experience. Many of the reviews discuss the long lines. This is very accurate. I waited at least 15-20 minutes on a Sunday night at 9:25pm (they close at 10pm). Why's cool is they do have two lines so clearly they are trying to diminish wait time, but it definitely takes a while. I got a "razzle", which is basically like a Dairy Queen Flurry. It's ice cream with candy or something else swirled in. I got the "peanut butter cup" and asked for chocolate ice cream. It was a LOT of peanut butter cups crushed in. A lot. Too many for my 30-something self. If you want more candy in your mouth than ice cream whenever you take a spoonful and spend a lot of time chewing, this is for you. I'm sure 22-year old me or 16-year old me would love this. Haha. It just wasn't quite what I wanted. The soft serve does seem to taste good but nothing particularly awesome. I think the great reviews and long lines stem from the fact that this is right across a park (great place to hang out and eat ice cream after!) and I think it's the only soft serve in the area. In the age of fro-yo and chains like Baskin-Robbins, this local soft-serve spots stands against the pack. I'll come again.
