My pug Benny jumps into the truck when it is his monthly appointment for grooming. The front desk person is great and the back area groomers do a fantastic job. The staff provides first cabin service and Benny and I will continue for as long as he keeps up his best behavior. I would give them 10 stars for the scheduling and on time performance. The owner and her staff are all amazing, kind, and always give my dogs allll the attention their hearts can take. Milo was nervous when we first arrived but after meeting the staff he became calm and happy. Milo looked and smelled so much better after his visit. The scent of their products are mild and pleasant. We had tried a few groomers in Gig Harbor and were not satisfied with anyone's services. We had been going to PetSmart for their convenience. We have had some minor issues with PetSmart but the last time we went they turned us away and said they couldn't clean up our doodle. They said we would need to find a private salon or even a Vet to clean her up. Mind you it was their fault we had to reschedule the few times prior. I started calling around even called 2 vets to get our doodle seen within the next week or two, as most places were over a month out. I called Hollywood told them my situation and they rushed to get our baby in! They were able to clean her up and not even strip her to the lowest blade (PetSmart said they couldn't because she would need lower then a 10 clip). She was at a 7. The staff was so loving with our baby. Treated her very well and could see their passion for animals. We will continue with Hollywood!! read more

I have a very nervous kitty who is terrified of brushes. I got her at the Humane Society and I think she had a rough groomer at some point, because her only fear seems to be of brushes. I was impressed with the grounds of this grooming/boarding business; it's large, set way back from the street, and peaceful. When I arrived, I saw that the dogs were exercising and had lots of room. The people were very nice, and the groomer took time to let me know that my kitty was very sweet. I didn't feel nervous before or after the groom. This place had a good vibe- much more than other groomers I've used. I'm so thankful I found this business. I definitely will return. read more

We were looking for a groomer for our very anxious, fidgety poodle/fox terrier mix, and Howllywood came through. They were so gentle and patient, and it's the best groom she's ever had. They were unable to trim her nails due to her resistance, but that's ok. I'd rather she have a positive experience, and we can deal with the nails. It's in an absolutely beautiful location with lots of room for the dogs to play, so we plan to return, not only for grooming but for daycare and overnight stays. read more

My family has taken all of our dogs to Rhondie for over 10 years, before she even had the Howllywood location. They are wonderful people and take immaculate care of every animal, they even put up with grumpy, finicky critters with no trouble. If there are any flaws in the cut, they will fix them at no charge, no problem(I must add that flaws are very rare, but hey, dogs fidget) For both grooming and boarding, I could not more highly recommend anyone. We have a rolling monthly appointment, I recommend scheduling a regular appointment, as they get booked out pretty heavily for weeks out. But I promise you once you go the first time, you won't hesitate to take your dogs here forever. read more

I contacted Howllywood about watching my dog on very short notice and they were very helpful to accommodate. Their facilities we clean and professional. Also, they did a great job with my pup who, needless to say, has some issues (he's deaf and can be unfriendly at times to bigger dogs). UPDATE: I just received an email from Yelp that they removed a reviewer's irresponsible and possibly inaccurate comments about Howllywood Boarding and Grooming. I wrote in and complained to Yelp by pointing out that it is unfair to a new business owner to suffer bad reviews based on a former proprietor's lack of care and commitment. Amanda, who now owns and operates Howllywood Boarding and Grooming, deserves better. I say this because I recently used her after she was highly recommended to me and I instantly knew she was a smart, decent, responsible business owner. I got to stay with her while she groomed my 1 year old Standard Poodle and I looked around and listened to how she treated her employees and I asked her lots of questions. I noticed her kennels and I noticed how she treated the other dogs she was grooming while I waited for her to groom my dog. I don't miss much people and I was impressed with how clean her facility is, how much she relies on common sense regarding products and safety and my dogs were immediately relaxed around her - that's a big, big deal. What's really sad was that Amanda contacted Yelp herself to remove that old and outdated 1 star horrible review and Yelp would not help her. However, in this online environment, we need to stand up to these digital companies and inform them that they need to stay informed because online trolls need to be dealt with. What good are these reviews if the platform isn't constantly monitored and verified. Thank you Yelp for listening to me and for those of you out there reading this update, you too can find the point of contact with companies like Yelp and complain. Now if we all can just get Craigslist to become more responsible, this world would be a much better place. My other Standard Poodle, who has fear issues meeting strangers was 100% relaxed around her. He is comfortable with only a few strangers and she was one of them. As someone who has never boarded their puppies, I was extremely worried and nervous, as any dog mom would be leaving their babies for the first time. We were recommended this location, as it was close to my mother-in-laws home, and we felt the most comfortable doing that. We walk in with both of our boys, 3 months old and 5 months old, to the front desk who were already a little weary about going in. We were greeted by a young girl, short hair, glasses, who was very confused as to what we were doing there. We brought in their food bags, labeled with their name, the breed, the date which it needed to be fed, and whether it was morning or evening. We also brought our own dog bowls, water bowls, cleaning spray (puppies still have accidents) and some toys so we were extremely prepared! She said we couldn't leave the bowls or toys or cleaning spray, which was fair. We gave her the vaccination records for both dogs, she gave us a tour of the facility, and let us walk our dogs back to their kennels as we said goodbye. After that, we were not given a quote, any paperwork or information in regards to our dogs. Once we leave for vacation, my mother in law picked up the puppies after a few days and took care of them after that. When she got to the facility, their harnesses were STILL ON (barely because they chewed them up), they smelled awful, even though we requested a bath, and we did not get our vaccination records back. When we called to ask the owner what the problem was and why they would leave their harnesses on, which racked up a total of 80 dollars, she said that unfortunately, since we didn't tell them to take them off, they just left them on, and to refer to that in the contract. UMM. We did NOT sign a contract, nor did we get offered one or received one. She also mentioned that usually when people drop off vaccination records, they leave copies. Well when we dropped the records off, the young girl up front said they had to keep the originals and we even asked if we could use the copy machine that was DIRECTLY BEHIND HER. She said no, they keep the originals. ?!?! I believe we need our harnesses replaced AND our vaccination records given back to us. Very unsatisfied. Owner basically said: "sorry, tough luck." I have to post even though I don't often do this. I cannot begin to say how HAPPY I am to have taken my little Yorkie/Pom mix 11 month old puppy named Timber here. I have had the same groomer for years and due to her having surgery I had to have him cut by someone else. Howllywood comes highly recommend and I can see why. Timber got to have his hair done by Charlie and he is amazing. From meeting him the first time and seeing my dog at such ease I knew it was going to be just fine. When I picked him up just an hour later, I was incredibly ecstatic with what he did for my little boy. WOW!! Thank you Charlie and all the staff there. We've taken our dog to Howllywood for boarding for 5 years. He usually comes home skinny and dirty, but we attribute that to him being constantly on the move. We just boarded him there for 2 weeks and when we got him home, he had an advanced case of kennel cough. There is no way that the staff there could not have noticed his coughing, runny nose, and sneezing. He was showing those symptoms in the reception area when he picked him up, but we just chalked it up to excitement. $400+ of vet bills later he is on the mend. I know there is always a risk of kennel cough when boarding, but I am extremely disappointed that Howllywood did not contact us in advance and tell us about his symptoms and get him treated sooner. This also means he picked it up from another dog there who I assume was also symptomatic. After I called and reported his diagnosis to the kennel, we never heard back from anyone apologizing or checking on his status. We will be taking him elsewhere when we need to board in the future. So disappointed after taking him there for so many years. read more

They have gone above and beyond in every way, and their care for our dogs has been bar none. We are new to the area, having moved from Tacoma almost a year ago. Our dog was really happy at Fort Fido in UP, so we continued to take her there for day care and overnight boarding as we just didn't want to go through the hassle of finding another place that she would like. However, we like to shop local and UP is a bit of a drive, so we decided to check out local places. The review by Kayla D. causes us to pause about taking our dog to Hollywood, but we have boarded enough dogs to know that even a well cared for dog in a great facility can get kennel cough, it is generally not a question whether but when. So my wife and I decided that we would try day care for a day, and if that worked then we would board our dog for a night. I am very pleased to say that our dog had a great time at day care, and when we brought her back for an overnight stay she couldn't wait to get out of the car and go into see all of her new friends. After boarding her, she was happy to see us, but she was in no hurry to leave. To us, a happy dog means its a great place to board. Hollywood is now our "go to" place for our dog boarding. It is a nice facility, with friendly people that the dogs all seem to like, and their pricing is reasonable and a good value for the amount of space that is available for the dogs and the attention that they get. read more

This isn't pet boarding, it's more like pet paradise! My dog used to go to the local vet for boarding, but she was cooped up all day with nobody to play with. Here, even the sleeping quarters are larger, and she can play with the other animals. She can't wait to go there, and always comes back shiny and exhausted from playing. I want to give a zero star! I can't even come close to explain how I felt when I picked up my dogs from Howllywood. I've sent an email as of last night. Have yet to get a response. My dogs were filthy and smelled so Rancid I could barely stand the car ride home for 20 min. Their paws were covered in poop and then the inside of my car. Their toys were lost. They said "oh sorry" Sweaters not even worn. In an outside kennel when I requested inside. This was the first time ever boarding our dogs. They've never had flea issues and our one came home infested with them so bad we had to take her in for a flea bath to be done professionally! Our other has been coughing so much he puked! We take very good care of our EBD and our pug terrier. They've never been sick until we picked them up from here. We will never bird with them. Ever! read more

According to Dewey, my goldendoodle, he had an excellent time in the three days he stayed here. According to me, I had a few problems. Whatever you do, DO NOT USE GPS to get here. We made that mistake and we accidentally went through a very rude man's driveway. After we wandered around for another 15 minutes trying to find our way we finally found the place, obviously we aren't from around here, that is why we were using our GPS. We brought up the man who yelled at us to get off his property to the front desk lady, turns out the man who yelled at us is the owner's husband! He came over and apologized to us saying he has had problems with trespassers and break-ins lately from 'young people' and he didn't recognize us. So basically he profiled us thinking that we were people that were going to break in to his house or something, I didn't really understand his logic for chasing us off his property. He said if he had known we were customers he wouldn't have treated us that way. I am pretty sure if I was a little old lady he wouldn't have treated us that way, which is really bad for business. I was really impressed with the property, Dewey seemed to have had a wonderful time. The price was really good... we will definitely use this place again, but the owner's husband needs to relearn his manners. read more

I had my dog boarded and groomed last weekend while out of town. Normally I have been very satisfied. It looked like my dog had been attacked from rear by another dog. He has bite and scratch marks on the top rear area of his back. There also is a deep scratch on his nose. He was also limping on his left rear foot and wouldn't let anyone touch it. When we looked closer you can see where the hair in his pads had been trimmed way too close and had irritated a good portion of the inside of one pad. I contacted the groomer to see if he had been attacked. The person I talked to said there was no incident report filed so nothing happened over the weekend. She then asked the girl that groomed him and she said he was fine. All his injuries are very noticable. Our dog is older and is a indoor house dog. I think it would be impossible for him to get all the injuries in our home on Monday when we started looking at him more closely. I don't know if they have a new groomer that possibly needs glasses or he just slipped and fell in the shower. No incident report so we will never know. We value our pet as a family member and will never let Howllywood board or groom him again. read more

We have a timid Whippet and were very nervous about boarding her. The attendants listened to our concerns and decided to exercise her with the smaller dogs. She also tends to be cold because of her breed and they were happy to accommodate her coat. She has always come back to us happy and well cared for. No Kennel cough or other problems. Never have left a bad review for anybody/thing..........and I thought the same about Howllywood as other commenters: seemed very pro., clean, nice grounds and staff. Well, we checked in advance and had to leave a new gsd puppy over Labor Day Weekend--went to the rodeo in ellensburg early sat am and wouldn't be home until after 6 so had to leave her there from fri 6pm-mon 9am. We called from the rodeo on Saturday and all was fine and she was "in the office being center of attn." And we were told how cute, sweet etc., that she is. Monday morning we are ther to get her at 8:30am. Nobody was out in the building until the girls started showing up at about 8:45. We waited until 9 in the car and then they came to the door and motioned us inside. The whole time we sat there we could hear the dogs barking, crying. We even thought we heard our girl. And it was our girl crying.......as soon as they went in the building they started putting them outside to do their thing......and is when we KNEW our baby was the cryer, all the time getting her out of there, all the way home, and shaking. Anyway, when we went in to pay and pick her up we were 'handed' a stinking, shaking, scared-----well, mess! We are livid! Our little 8 week old pup had feces all through her fur, smelled of it, and we could hardly make it home in the car with the windows down. There was more feces on her(dried) then could have been just from the previous night......... Why was she so upset? Why so dirty? If I were handing a dog back to its' owner I 'd have at least have had an explanation for her mess, not disregard it altogether. The diet we have had her on has produced nice solid/chalky stools......so I now ask if it's even her feces on herself. We weren't given her toys back either, though I 'll accept responsibility for that........I wanted out of there and already bought new toys.....we can imagine how poopy the old ones must be..........and chewing,........eewwwwwwwwwwwwwww Weve had her home all day now(4pm) and she's slept all day, even after the baths and rides in the car. And we go to CO in Oct and were planning to leave her there for a week......... yeah, were. They have more going on than they can handle, imho. Kelly Wood read more

It was NOT a good experience. My elderly dog ended up injured, and the experience was poorly managed by the staff. As I returned to the place to pick my dog up on Christmas Eve, I was first asked to pay for the grooming services. I did not think much of it, so I did as they asked me to. After the payment was done, they told me that my 11 year old dog had had "an accident." Somehow, my dog jumped off the grooming table, and the choking pressure of his neck collar was so high that his left eye protruded and it looked reddened and inflamed. My dog was also limping. The staff seemed very nervous while telling me their version of the story, and their versions were not consistent with each other. I was informed that my dog was not wearing a harness and apparently they don't use break away collars to prevent this type of "accidents" from happening. It has been a week since my dog's accident. Since then I have not heard one word from the manager or anyone in the place to follow up on their poor care. I will never return or recommend this place to anyone who loves their dogs. read more
