Felt compelled to leave a review after reading some of the negative reviews. This place is the antithesis of Starbucks and every other extra-large-size-offering-full-of-sugar-and-colors type place. The reviews mention minimal flavor, sweetness, etc. Take a look at this place. It's minimalistic. Hence, it follows that the drinks are minimalistic. In other words you're not going to get a ton of chocolate, vanilla, sugar, etc. in your drinks. Yes: it's expensive. I paid nine dollars for an iced oat milk mocha. Ouch! However, I have a feeling that the employees are paid well, and all ingredients are of the highest quality. Again, this place is not Starbucks. If that's your cup of Joe, then stay away. read more

this coffee shop is really unique and has an interesting environment. the store front is practically open door (more like open window) with a small botanical garden in the front. parking is very limited so park on the street, it's free. the drinks.... were okay? i originally wanted the chai but heard it's very ginger-heavy so i got the vanilla latte instead, for 8 dollars before tax. despite being able to see the vanilla beans at the bottom of my cup, it was very lightly vanilla flavored and only semi sweet. i didn't end up drinking it completely. ambiance wise, while the view is nice and the interior is very cohesive and MCM-inspired, it does get very loud during rush. i was sitting by the window stools with my friend and there were times where we could barely hear each other. the open-door concept also doesn't block out any loud noise from the street outside like fire trucks or anything. so i wouldn't come here during the busiest hours if you are looking for somewhere to work or read. read more

This (presumably) based off the Truman Show coffee shop stands as a wink iykyk spot in Montrose disguised with its cleaners exterior. There is limited attached parking in their back lot but free street parking on the side street its attached to. My dad and I came by on a weekday morning and this was decently packed. There is both indoor and outdoor seating and the interior of How's It Going To End? though it isn't much. Service was polite and quick. Matcha latte (iced) 3.5/5, this wasn't bad for a matcha latte and while it did have a decent strength to it, I just felt like something was missing? We stopped by on a Sunday morning and could tell it was a popular neighborhood spot. There was a short line but it moved quickly. There's some seating available but is limited. This is a nice spot to relax and chat but not really ideal for working. There is a very small parking lot on site but there's street parking available. Love the fun lighting in the bathroom too! I tried the iced matcha latte which I really enjoyed - just the perfect sweetness and not too sweet, and felt really refreshing on a warm day. Matcha quality was not bad too. Beautiful re-use of a retro dry cleaning business, this coffee house is a nice addition to the Montrose coffee scene. Landscaped with native plants, it's a great place to have a coffee and relax. I also love that they saved the old signs! The coffee itself is just okay, tbh; the cinnamon roll I ordered was hard as a rock (but they said the day's pastries hadn't arrived yet.) On my second visit, the chai was actually delicous and highly recommended. The prices are not cheap, although inflationary pressures may be partly to blame. Saw this REALLY nice Facebook post of places to check out in the La Canada/Montrose area. I love checking out neat looking places that serve coffee. I've driven by this place hundreds of times and I always thought it was an actual Regal dry cleaning place! Who would have known that all this time, it was an actual coffee joint. Coffee is good, the cinnamon breakfast roll is crazy good! Something of a cross between a cinnamon roll and a kouign Amman. Very sweet. Very flaky. Love it! The location away from the street and the outdoor seating make it the best place to hand out in all of Montrose/La Canada/La Crescenta. I instantly loved all the staff behind the counter, good people work here. :) A former Regal cleaners with mid-century modern angled roof and celestory windows has been transformed, with an open-air wall of windows and sliding glass doors, slid wide open in these foothills' frequently pleasant weather. The sliding glass door wall opens to a pebble-grounded xeriscape yard with reclaimed large logs of tree trunks for seating. Interior boasts a long counter for the employees' work stations, sheltered by a tasteful breeze block and light wood wall, featuring two window-like openings through which to interact and then proceed for your drink pickup. Flow here is well designed and ready for crowds if necessary, including a beautiful pinkish soft stone in the walking area, counter height, to assist in customer flow, and a couple tables and counters facing in different directions for laptop use (which it seems, is not discouraged here). The calming effect of clear and roomy architecture, gentle breeze from the hills, calming gentle music, and acoustics-dampening wood accents are all what you might hope for in a cafe. The one public restroom includes a changing table and new floor-to-ceiling one inch tiles and a charming built-in light accent. This place is exactly how I want Montrose to become. I predict it'll set a trend as a business model for new businesses in Montrose. It is genius to revamp an already existing place to preserve the historic points of the structure yet juxtapose it with a new concept. I ordered a "Cortado" and plopped right down onto the first stool I found available.
