Very good Dr. Explain everything and had the patience to repeat what ever you don't understand. I hardly recommend him.

Since the age for colonoscopy was changed from 50 to 45 I've been dreading it. When I turned 45 I…read morewas dreading it. Then I turned 46 and figured I better get it over with. I was having some issues I won't get into plus family history that made me finally face the music. I'm writing this review to let you know if you're the age for a colonoscopy or soon to be the age, DO NOT STRESS OVER THIS!!!!!! THERE IS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT! From start to finish it was simple and honestly no big deal. I have a PPO and can go anywhere I want but my doctor referred me to Dr. Duke Nguyen since he's located in the same Memorial Care center he is. Figured easy enough. The staff at Orange County Digestive Care (located 3rd floor Memorial Care Building) was super friendly and always answered the phone quickly so I'd go back and recommend them. I made my appointment and they got me in the day after Xmas for my initial appointment which was a few days after I called. I met with Kimberly A. Pinckney, PA-C. She was so friendly I didn't hesitate to answer all the embarrassing questions about pooping habits. After talking about issues and answering questions I met with another lady who scheduled me for 3/7/24 and went over the prep. Initially I was happy it was 3 months to wait but I stressed really bad for 3 months. Again, DO NOT STRESS LIKE I DID! DO NOT STRESS! Fast forward 3 months. Week of your appointment I highly recommend eating low fiber foods and easy to digest bland foods. Stay away from beef, raw veggies, seeds, nuts, and high fiber stuff. Day before the appointment all you can have is clear liquid. I was surprised I didn't get hungry at all but I think my low calorie week of bland foods helped prepare my stomach. I also drank tons of water all day. Luckily my insurance paid for the split dose "suprep" which is two liquid 6 ounce bottles you mix with 16 ounces of water. 6pm night before my adventure started. My wife told me how horrible the prep tastes but I thought it tasted sort of like Tamarindo candy. Salty, sour, and sweet so I kind of liked it. I drank down the mixture followed by 32 ounces of water as instructed. 1.5 hours went by and I was questioning if my dosage was defective. Then for the next 3 to 4 hours my body turned into a what I can only describe as a fecal water cannon. What came out of me defied logic. The good thing is there's zero stomach aches or urgency. I assumed it was going to be like food poisoning but your body is just filling up with water and blasting your pipes clean. I had no issues getting to the bathroom, no running needed. Also you get breaks between visits so it's not non stop. I highly recommend you have wet wipes since you'll be wiping A LOT and cleaning supplies because you will utterly obliterate your toilet bowl. Next morning at 4am was round two. I didn't enjoy the flavor this time since I knew what was in store. Round two kicked in about 15 minutes. Since there was not much left it was just endless water blasting until I was sparkling clean. So yea..... going to the bathroom over and over and over gets tiring but just know you're not going to feel sick or anything. You're just going to be turned into a human water cannon and if you're like me texting jokes to your friends about it. They also time it and cut off your drinking time so you'll be fine when it's time to leave for your appointment. Day of the procedure WAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Every single employee at Memorial Care were so friendly I was at ease the whole time and honestly ready to get it over with. I arrived, put on my bare assed gown, and got into bed. I've never had an IV before so was worried about that but it felt no different than getting my blood drawn so that was another example of stressing for nothing. Dr. Nguyen quickly went over what's going to happen, anesthesiologist gave his speech, and I was wheeled into the room. Literally it went like this: Propofol which looks like milk was injected into the tube going to my IV and the guy said "This might feel cold". I watched it hit my hand and I said "I don't feel anything.....". Next thing I know I hear "are you awake?" which I reply to "huh?". Then I'm told I'm done. It's over. It's like a light switch was flipped off and on and it was over. Crazy stuff. Dr. Nguyen then let me know he took out one polyp and the issue I went in for was nothing to worry about. Even got color photos of my innards to look at. Two weeks later I was told my polyp was not cancerous but because of the size of it I'll have to return in 5 years. Good thing is I know not to stress over it. This was easy. Get it done. You have nothing to worry about. I convinced my co-worker who was 5 years past due and he had his last week. He said it was easy too and we traded humorous toilet stories. GET YOUR COLONSCOPY DONE! DO NOT STRESS ABOUT IT! DO NOT WORRY ABOUT IT! IT'S AN EASY EXPERIENCE!

This review is for Dr. Mankal who works out of the same office. My elderly father was diagnosed…read morewith advanced Liver issues after he contracted Covid 19 in 2020. The liver doctor at hospital gave him a year to live. After he was released we were traveling to a doctor in San Gabriel which was quite a distance since my parents live in Lakewood, Ca. After searching the internet I came across Dr. Mankal in Los Alamitos and when I say he has been an absolute God send, I mean it!!!! While my father's condition is not without its issues, Dr. Mankal has been amazing. His bedside manner is incredible, he is patient and extremely knowledgeable and best of all my father is still with us, 4 years after the liver doctor at the hospital wrote him off. I also love the portal and usually get answers to questions or requests for meds within 24 hours. I hesitate to post this review because I worry Dr. Mankal will be swamped with new patients but then I think of others facing these types of challenges and needing quality care and feel compelled to share. We also love Angela, his front office lady, she is wonderful as well! I strongly recommend Dr, Mankal and Angela!!!!!

New Patient Process I called the office to ask about their new patient process, and they helpfully walked me through the process and directed me to their online forms. After filling out the online forms and submitting them via email, I was able to call the office and have someone on the phone to help with questions. Super nice and patient staff members! They also responded to my patient forms same-day, and my first appointment was scheduled within a week. Appointments The patient portal and ability to use televisits is really convenient. I am not a tech-savvy person, and I was able to setup my account online, pay online, and virtually meet Dr. Mankal in a televisit. Patient Care Dr. Mankal listened to all my concerns and was able to describe what was happening in a way I could easily understand. He prescribed clear directions for next steps, and a prognosis. I really appreciated how clear and attentive he was.

So I went to this place for a consultation appointment at 2:30 pm yesterday. I was there on time,…read morethen I checked in and signed a bunch of paperwork that makes medical care so expensive here and exonerates everyone in the process in case I get screwed. Then, I sat down in the lobby patiently awaiting to get my name called. A little later, another gentleman came in and told the front desk that he had a 2:45 appointment, and he did pretty much the same things as I did. After another 5 minutes or so, his name got called and he went inside. I didn't give it much thought thinking he could be seeing a different doctor than mine. Then later, another old lady came in for her appointment, I didn't hear what she said about her appointment time, and she got called rather quickly, but I was still waiting. After half an hour of waiting, my patience was running out, so I went to the front desk and asked them why people who had come after me went in before me. Well, my complaint kinda worked, my name got called and I was put into a room to wait. While I was waiting, I heard a doctor speak to a patient in an adjacent room, and it was a female doctor. I happened to know that my doctor was a female too. So I patiently waited for a good 5-10 minutes, and when I had a pretty good idea that the doctor was done with the patient and was walking out, I opened my door and saw the gentleman with the 2:45 appointment accompanied by a female doctor, who was the very same doctor that would finish me with my consultation in a few minutes. At that point, I was beyond being upset, but I kept my cool. Before I left, I requested a meeting with their office manager who patronized me with some bogus reasons that the front desk young lady was new, it was her 2nd day at work, lack of training, blah, blah, blah. Come on, I had been waiting in the lobby for over half an hour, and she was obviously the more senior one than the other dude. What really troubles me is why they would arrange not to see me with an appointment at 2:30 for a 5-minute consultation, instead they chose to see a patient with an appointment at 2:45 1st for a half an hour visit. Could it be that they enjoyed keeping a foreigner-looking individual waiting as he didn't look he belonged in the 1st place? That I don't really know, I certainly hope not. But isn't it an interesting time in which we live. Full disclosure: I am a Chinese, the gentleman is either a hispanic or southern Asian, the lady is white.
