This place is a standard staple Chinese food place, but don't let that fool you into thinking it's weak or average. The staff here is extremely friendly and memorable, they will likely remember you and ask you how you've been, etc. The food is actually very good for the price (A lunch special is just shy of $6 with tax) and you get a lot of it. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken lunch special. It was around $8, which is fair for the amount of food but I definitely have had other lunch specials that feed you more for a similar price. It also came with one tiny egg roll. The egg roll was out of this world, though small in size. I found the chicken had little to no flavor-- I love sweet and sour chicken so I was a little disappointed by that. It also has a ton of breading and not much meat. The rice also doesn't come with veggies in it and is lacking flavor. It was cheap, service was great and it was finished super quickly. Just had a random craving for some Crab Rangoons and this place was the closest to my work. Placed an order on the phone and the call was short and concise - only a 10 min wait time so I was happy about that. I got my order and I believe there were 6 pieces in one order with a side of sauce. The crab rangoons itself were practically just the fried wonton skin with practically no filling. I would think that even if they wanted to save money on the imitation crabmeat, they'd put more cream cheese. Over the past several months we've seen it go downhill - smaller portions, more filling than protein (ex: chicken dish but with 75% broccoli), smaller portion sizes, and did I mention smaller portions? Last night was my first visit to Huang's. It will be my last. I could see that it was may once have been a happening place. Unfortunately, the entire shopping center seems to be kind of on a downward spiral. The restaurant has covers on their vinyl booth seats, and half the dining area was used for storage. Kind of unsightly. Im talking big cardboard boxes stacked around. Dine in is served in styrofoam and the food was kind of bland. Just not a good experience. Huangs is 1 min from my work and I get take out here all the time- they're fast and the food qualities is great. Great fresh veggies. I always order shrimp and broccoli- my family loves beef and broccoli and chicken and snow peas. We love the spring rolls and crab Rangoons- we could eat 100 spring rolls if we could. I am a connoisseur of good "bad Chinese food." The "bad" meaning that it is not authentic but it is greasy and yummy and hits the spot. Huang killed it in this category. I got the chicken lo mein, quite a large portion for a combo with egg fried rice on the side. I like my carbs with carbs, y'know? I had written in the notes for the order that I wanted a shrimp egg roll with the pork egg roll since they come in 2s and the app only let you select one type or the other. Not only did they read the note, which is rare (how many times have you asked for extra salsa verde from a taco joint and they don't read the note?) they gave me 2 pork egg rolls PLUS a shrimp one. I also ordered the hot and sour soup, which was in a HUGE container (no app distinction of large or small) and actually tasted fresh, which was a new experience for me. The counter was full of not jus Knick-knacks but a SERIOUS amount of random crap that looked like they had been hoarding in their basement for years. Mighty Tasty Shrimp and Pork Egg Foo Yung. I am going to tell you why this may be the best take out Chinese food in Richmond. I've been here about 5 times and it's been consistently good. On a Friday night they had no less than 7 different groups walk in while I was waiting for my take out. It's a small family type Chinese food place with the high school age daughters running the register. The menu has some chefs specialty items I'm going to try. The Egg Foo Young is perfection in a box. It's fried perfectly, not greasy, the sauce is packed separately and has that rich caramel color that tells you it got some flavor. Not salty, not greasy, good rice, very nice dish and they give you three large pancakes of the egg Foo young. Their egg rolls are fresh and hot. The wonton soup is rich and the wonton are fresh and huge. Moo Goo Gai Pan has been very tasty with lots of chicken, broccoli, and snow peas. They have a drink cooler with all sorts of soft drinks. I'm giving it four stars because this place needs a dining room update. The banquettes are covered with cloth because they're torn and kind of old. Well, not kind of, they're old. Not good anymore! Not good at all... I've enjoyed Huang's Express over the past few year as it HAS been a good Chinese take out spot. HOWEVER, and a BIG BIG BIG HOWEVER, this place has been borderline TERRIBLE the last two times I've had take out. The first bad experience was about a month ago, and my food just wasn't as good as usual. I chalked it up to a one time thing. Last night I got takeout, and it was AWFUL. The hot and sour soup was absolutely tasteless. It had NO flavor at all. None. Nada. Zip. It was like they forgot an ingredient or something that created ALL the flavor. Furthermore, the fried noodles that come with the soup were so stale that they were hard to chew- GROSS! We also ordered General Tao Chicken and Orange Chicken. They tasted EXACTLY the same and we couldn't tell the difference- no orange flavor at all in the orange chicken. They were also filled with fried nuggets that had no chicken in them. About half of each combo was just inedible fried bits. So disappointing... To finish it off, the egg rolls were soft and chewy - not crispy like usual. This was, hands down, the WORST Chinese meal I have ever had. My last two experiences deserve a 1/2 star rating at best... Two VERY bad experiences in a row = I will not be returning. read more

Decent place for take out. It is cheap and the portions are large. Overall everything was somewhat bland. General Tso's had no spice/heat. Nothing interesting flavor wise. Also got beef and broccoli, egg rolls and fried dumplings. Good fried dumplings have more crisp to them whereas these were soggy. The sauce was bland as well. I got take out and the order was completed on time which is a plus. Maybe this is the best in the area, I don't know. General Tso was 80% chicken 20% fry and it was better than any gen. Tso I've ever had and the most chicken took them 10 min to cook.
