    Slices of a The Carnivore

Well visiting the area and had the craving for pizza. Well a biddy who visits Tybee often suggested here. Glad he did. First the joint itself. What a dive. Crazy looks like it's held together by glue and at the same time cool as anything. Really neat joint. Staff: our server (forgot her name - dam) was so sweet. Joked with us, was very friendly, AND did a great job taking care of us. Now the food: We had the Carnivore. Although we hear the slices are huge - we still went for the whole pizza. It was very very good. Full of meat as you can see in the picture. The crust was really good as well. Perfectly cooked and had a wonderful texture. We only had sodas, so sorry can't talk about the drinks. So I'm saying you need a pizza fix, come on in you won't be disappointed.

    Cheeseburger and meat lover's pizza

I went here with my family while visiting Tybee for lunch because we heard the pizza's were good. We were in total a party of 8 and we were seated quickly outside, which was perfect given the weather. Even though I didn't go into the restaurant the appearance looking in wasn't that great to me so I would suggest sitting outside. My Dad, Brother and I ended up sharing the cheeseburger and meat lovers pizza. I really liked the meat lover's and while I thought the cheeseburger was ok, I wouldn't get it again. I also had a margarita which was good. The waiter was very busy but he did a good job checking on us. I would recommend trying this place out if you're in town.

I stayed in a condo within walking distance and this restaurant/bar was recommended to me. Great recommendation! Definitely had a bit of a locals atmosphere (though not pretentious, nor unwelcoming), but I also believe there were plenty of people from out of town visiting that had also been introduced to this gem. I feel odd saying that we visited this place all three nights we stayed on Tybee Island. Of course, it was due to it's convenient location in relation to where we stayed, but after going on Night 1, we knew we wanted to come back. On two of our visits, we sat at the outside bar and one of the nights, we had dinner (pizza) at a table inside. All three of our visits included friendly and welcoming service. I like the prices and the overall atmosphere. The pizza was pretty good, as well as the drink selection. It was a fun atmosphere in the early evening, as well as late at night! I would definitely visit again when/if we're on Tybee Island. I would recommend to anyone visiting that area. I'd also highly recommend the attached coffee shop next door during the day!

Showing how big the slice is. This one slice cut into thirds!!! I am 6'4" with BIG hands !!!

Amazing pizza with an AWESOME price!!! The waitress we had was so friendly and even sat down for a minute with us! We played some darts and hung out with some locals and had such a good time we closed the place down!!!

We dined at Huc A Poos the first night we were in town. They had designated golf cart parking and that was fun. This is a total dive bar which I loved. We ordered a pizza and it was a 6.2 out of 10. I would recommend ordering something else. Our waiter was very cool and friendly and I'm happy we gave this place a try.

Mexican pizza did not taste like anything Mexican . Hawaiian pizza lacked pineapple . For the price I'd expect better.

Is there karaoke, if so what days/times?

Nope! They have Name that Tune on Wednesday. Benny's on Butler at Tybrisa has karaoke, don't know the hours but late night.

    Is there a happy hour?

No! Every hour is HaPpy Hour at The Poo! $3.00 beers, $5-7 shorts all the time every day 24/7 (well, almost) Pizza is terrific too! $5 slice with as many toppings as you can think of. Best place to be on Friday night (BANDS) or really any night

Is there a ramp to get in as an alternate to the stairs? For disabled patrons? It appears to in pics but I can't tell for sure.

Yes, there absolutely is a wheelchair ramp/delivery ramp there. When you are at the bottom of the main staircase that goes to the outside deck it is about 50 feet to your right. It comes up from the parking lot and goes behind the coffee shop and… Read more

I overheard at another bar that the Huc does a feed-the-hungry event on Thanksgiving day. Any truth to this? And if so, how can I participate?

Yes, they do. They have a large dinner for the community and then share food with the homeless in Savannah on Friday. They have done this for years.

Do they allow pets? A dog specifically.

Yes ! Very dog friendly ! But dint take your mutt do the beach they aren't

If you're there in cold weather, position yourself in front of one of the blasting electric space heaters. I was there in January and didn't pay much attention to the outdoor seating, but did notice some fun-looking transparent geodesic dome tent-like thingies you can sit in. I had raw local oysters, falafel bites, and nachos. The oysters were fresh, chilled and served with interesting condiments. The falafel was sizzling hot and served with delicious tzatziki. I opted for South African sausage on the nachos and they were an interesting dining experience: made with sturdy potato chips instead of tortilla chips. The best part? The margaritas! I've been traveling around the Deep South for a month now and they are by far the best I've found.

Yes, latest visit since we also visited June 2025, and gave that visit a 4 star. Let me say there were several issues during this visit. First, they didn't have a common beer available, claiming they ran out of Corona. Now it is a Friday night and you're going into the weekend without one of the most popular beers - just crazy. Next I ordered the Low Country Boil, well after a few minutes another person comes to me as says they have no potatoes for the meal and offered extra sausage to make up the meal. I accepted that. When my meal came out, the server now tells me they owe me 2 more pieces of corn and they would quickly bring that to me. Guess what - never got them. The two pieces I did get were cold - I mean not fully boiled/cooked. Icy cold inside. Now we were with several other couples and one couple had to ask for their drinks a second time. Fact is their meal came out before their first drinks. I have to also mention the men's rooms. I was clearly hadn't been checked or cleaned in a while. Now let's face it, it got screwed up due to nasty guests, but staff really need to check it every so often. Folks I visit Tybee twice a year and there are plenty of options on the island. I think the Zunibar has lost my future business, as well as the 3 other couples we were with. If you choose here you have been warned. I hope you have a better visit.

What you find inside is a nicely appointed restaurant with a beautiful long bar which we highly recommend you eat at. Our bartender Christy was amazing. But more about her later, right now I will talk about the food. We started with the margarita scallops, which was chunks of seared scallops soaked in margarita on toasted wonton chips with a black bean corn, salsa and drizzle with a local aioli, YUM! We also had their fried green tomatoes, which came with apricot horseradish sauce and aoli. Kiki had the catch of the day, which was a grilled piece of grouper atop mediterranean couscous and a medley of mediterranean vegetables. I had the prime rib, which came with lobster Chili Churri butter and a brandy peppercorn sauce. Both entrees were amazing. Now back to our bartender Christie. To say that she wears many hats is an understatement. She greeted us when we sat at the bar, by the way, did I mention that you can reserve seats at the bar? She described the menu items in a way that you only expect to find from a waiter in the finest restaurants in the world. She addressed any and all allergy issues relating to these dishes all the while she is making drinks for patrons at the bar as well as handling the service bar for all the patrons in the restaurant. Without missing a beat, she takes our order.Buses plates from other customers and continues to make drinks for everybody in the restaurant. At this point I think I told her her new nickname should be the Flash. At one point during our dinner, we saw her serve a bottle of wine to another couple at the end of the bar. Her presentation was that of a full wine sommelier with pouring a taste for approval while showing the label of the bottle as she waited for the customers approval then pouring the glasses after approval was given. List of hats: Bartender Bar Back Waiter Sommelier Entertainer Influencer to a new generation of food service, people on Tybee island. ( She babysat the owner of Bubba Gumbo's.) My roll was even warmed to kick up the decadence one extra notch! The only area for improvement - a minor one - need a sharper knife to get through the sturdy crust of the avocado toast.
