    Ambiance was the best thing....

Food was decent, ate there two nights in a row before I figured out the drinks are watered down. I'm not a big drinker, but after three vodka drinks you think one would catch a buz. At little steep for my blood. Or maybe they just target people that are not locals.

Tasty, expensive, good service. I had hoped when I went that I could sit outside in hopes of watching the sunset. They seemed to bristle at that, as I was a single person dining alone, hemmed and hawed, and as a polite-people-pleaser often to my own discomfort...I just said seating wherever would be fine. The seafood is certainly fresh, and everything comes out as it is cooked so if you are with a big group entrees may come in waves. Deal with it, lol. I got the crab cakes, which had big chunks of crab god bless, with my sides being mashed potatoes and a seaweed salad (and surprise hushpuppies too). Everything was fresh and tasty, and my watermelon margarita was a great compliment to the meal. I was seated right next to the stage and had just gotten my food when the live music started. That was not ideal and loud and while the small child dancing and spinning around might have been cute for others, I got thwapped a few times by tiny sticky hands. If I'd known the music was going to start while I was there, I would have asked to be seated somewhere a bit further away. The parking lot is also very limited and tiny, so be aware of that if you are driving in. I walked from my airbnb so I didn't have an issue with that. The meal was good and I think I would have a better time if I came with another person. But it was pretty alright.

We are so happy we found AJ's! First, be advised the parking by the restaurant has very few spaces, but there is a larger lot across and down the street. I ordered grilled Mahi with fresh vegetables and their incredible crispy sweet potato waffle fries! My meal was delicious as was my hubby's, the ribeye with shrimp. He said it was an excellent cut and he was so pleased with his choice. We sat outside on the pier and were asked to not feed the birds walking around our feet, hoping for a dropped hush puppy! Our server Marina was friendly and helpful with the menu, and checked on us often to refill our drinks. We highly recommend AJ's when you're visiting Tybee!

Lovely staff that took care of us!! Food was very delicious and came out quickly. Pictured down below are the chicken sandwich and key lime pie. I enjoyed my dinner while my family got fish and seafood for dinner and were satisfied with their meal. I would come back here and would recommend you as well

Just two of use, but We went on a Saturday about 3:30 pm. No wait! Our waitress was fun and upbeat! Food was fresh and hot and timely! We sat outside to overlook the waterfront, and it was warm, but we sat in the shade with fans going, so it was perfect!

This was their homemade keylime pie.

I stopped for a drink and dessert to enjoy the view. The view was beautiful. The dessert was not. I ordered their homemade keylime pie. When it came at first glance I thought it might be pumpkin pie. It looked more brown than yellow. It was the shortest key lime pie I ever saw. And what was the red stuff all over the plate? Their attempt to sauce the dessert was a miss. The sauce design was a mess. I could not tell if the sauce was strawberry or cherry? It made the tasteless key lime pie even more bland. The sauce was everywhere on the plate so I tried to eat the filling without the graham cracker crust to avoid the sauce all over the plate. The filling just tasted old and tired. I could not finish it.

The evening's band was getting set up when we arrived. The food was great. Leila, our waiter, could not have been more helpful. For dessert excellent tiramisu. We were expecting run of the mill fish and chips. What we found was an excellent casual restaurant.

Because this was their first time in Savannah, we couldn't let them leave without a visit to the beach. Although the day was a bit overcast and windy, it was still a nice afternoon and we decided to grab some local fare before heading back to Pooler. Salt Island is a small restaurant located right on the main strip as you turn into the seafront area. There is limited parking in and around the restaurant, but we were lucky because Sunday afternoon was fairly deserted. However, I would imagine that on a busy weekend you would likely need to find creative parking because a lot of the nearby parking seemed to be reserved for home and condominium owners. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating with a sizable bar and plenty of room to entertain larger groups. The menu is fairly simple but packed with a couple of really interesting items that you wouldn't technically expect to find in a beachfront fish house. And while we didn't order any of the more offbeat items, I have to say, seeing Chicken Tinga on the menu was a pleasant surprise. Especially since my in-laws are Mexican. Lol, I actually ordered the whole fried snapper tacos, which was essentially a whole fish fried to perfection but then accompanied with a bounty of authentic Mexican taco fixings including fresh tortillas, Cajita cheese, and fresh salsa and guacamole. The waiter promised I would be the envy of the table, and I was! This thing was so big. I ended up taking some of it home and eating it as a late night fish taco snack. The rest of the table ordered a combination of the fresh fish served any way you like it and the shell on shrimp boil. Both options were also fantastic. They also offer a variety of beers and have a fairly full bar so there's fun to be had here for everyone. Service was also really tight with our waiter making multiple trips to the table to make sure everybody was good. This is definitely a spot I would recommend if you are hanging out at the beach.

My kind of dump! LOL... don't let the rundown appearance fool ya, the food is awesome! See below…read morefor review of bathrooms though. We stopped here for lunch on a Tuesday, place wasn't too busy and the service was attentive and both drink and food came out quick. We had hush puppies and peel & eat shrimp to start. The hush puppies weren't much on their own (as they tend to be) but dipped in honey butter they were damn good and kind of addictive. The peel and eat shrimp were cooked perfectly, sweet and succulent. After peeling don't forget to devein if needed... about half our order had some mud vein remaining (which is fine for peel and eat, just remove it!). Then my wife and I split the lunch special, a double fried flounder sandwich with cheese and tartar sauce... a take on McDs double fillet-o-fish. It was amazing! The fresh flounder was cooked perfectly and was soft and juicy inside its crispy fried crust. My wife especially appreciated the toasted bun! The coleslaw that was the lunch special side wasn't great... under seasoned imo. I put a little malt vinegar, salt & pepper on it and it was fine. To finish it off we split a piece of key lime pie. This is the first time either of us had key lime pie, so we don't have much context to compare this to, but our experience with this key lime pie was amazing. The crust was one of the best graham crusts I've had. It was buttery and cooked to the point it had a caramel taste to it. The filling had a cheesecake taste and texture to it with a distinct citrus lime tang. The whipped topping was creamy and cool, a perfect complement to the custard-like filling. A wonderful dessert! Now, the only bad part of this review is of the bathrooms. As much as I like a dive bar, back country vibe... the bathrooms are gross. My wife was visibly disgusted when she returned to the table. Later in our trip she used the restroom at a Savannah gas station and joked it was the Taj Mahal compared to the restroom at Bubba Gumbo's. So, be warned... just hold it if you can! Bathrooms 1-Star... and that's just because they have one and it has running water LOL

The restaurant is right on the water in the middle of a marina, so fishing boats come in and they clean the fish not far from the restaurant's edge. We started off with a half pound shrimp that was hot and well seasoned. The cocktail sauce was very spicy with horseradish. I tried the special Herb Salad. It was tasty but a little pricey at 18.63. It would have been tasty with some pecans or walnuts. For entrees we tried the shrimp and grits. Very tasty with red eye gravy on top. Was missing the sausage, but still very good. Shrimp was well seasoned. The scallop dinner was delicious. Came with Alfredo sauce, hush puppies and a side salad. Prices are fair for all local seafood, which is what you expect on Tybee. And you can taste the difference in the local seafood. Very fresh and tasty. My one negative here was food came out too fast. We were still enjoying salads, then the shrimp appetizer came out. We were still eating our shrimp app, and the entrees came out. Felt a little rushed. The server was ready to bring the check, but we asked for dessert first. They already ran out of one dessert and just had the special, which was cheesecake. I normally don't complain about food coming out too fast, but when you are rushing through your courses, it feels like they need your table quickly. Food was really good, so it was just easy enough to ask for to go boxes with what we could not finish. Go early so there is no wait. People were waiting as we were leaving.

Do not get the coffee at Sea Wolf Tybee…read more In Sea Wolf's defense, our server told me as such. I ordered coffee, and he practically begged me not to. "Imagine Folgers... but worse," he said. I grew up on Eight O'Clock coffee--the only brand worse than Folgers-- so opted to brave the drip from Sea Wolf Tybee. How bad could it really be? Really bad. The Sea Wolf Tybee coffee was really, really, bad. The owners have made a deal with the barrier island devil where their successful establishment came at the expense of serving the worst coffee on earth. The coffee wasn't just bland, it was reeking with flavor, as if a tybee island horseshoe crab has been decaying in the coffee pot since the eatery was established in 2020. The server tried his hardest to prevent this 4-star review by warning me about the coffee, and in his defense the taste is not why I deducted Sea Wolf Tybee one star. I deducted one star because the vile 12oz cup of black drip coffee was $5 dollars. Like any diner at a lunch spot, I did not check the coffee's price before ordering it, assuming it'd be the standard $2-3 dollars. Even specialty coffee shops max their drip coffee prices at $4.50. Instead, Sea Wolf Tybee has opted to charge $5, rake-in a 95% profit margin, and exploit the trust of patrons who assume a cup of joe won't cost as much as Georgia's hourly minimum wage. I'm a former barista and coffee-lover, and $5 is the most expensive drip coffee I have ever encountered. Sea Wolf Tybee had outdone itself--the bill was more nauseating than the coffee.
