Here for a week. We have been coming to HHI for 18 years. I have eaten a lot of pizza in that time. None compared to this. Wood fired. Which is delicious and not expensive. That's the problem. OK pizza and you pay $30 for a large for the family. Then if you want a salad or an app the price goes to $50 for a take out pizza and a few sides to feed your family. Crazy Ridiculous! This pizza was wood fired and had the puffs and char that is so good. The bottom could have been a bit crispier. Just like another 1 min or so. Got the margarita with the micro greens basil. Very good! Mary-Jane our server was nice. She was attentive and provided good service. We got Happy Hour drinks and half priced apps. We got the meatballs and the pizza. The meatballs come 3 to an order with sauce and ricotta cheese. It was pretty good. They are a good size and we took 1 home. The restaurant is big. High top and low top tables. Full bar and the 2 pizza ovens. You can see everything it's fun to watch them make pizza and other things. I'd come back. This should be a try in any pizza rotation on the island. To Go or eat in. We stopped by on the way into Hilton Head. I tried to order online but it looked like the site they use charges extra than the prices on the posted menu, so we called our order in and picked it up. We got large Sup Pizza and a large cheese pizza. We were driving into town from Bluffton and it was ready as soon as we got there so our timing was good. My husband loved his Sup/Supreme pizza and said there was a lot of flavor. I thought the cheese was ok. It wasn't anything to write home about. I would give it a 3, he would give his pizza a 5; so I gave them our average - 4. It may depend on what you order. If I came back I would probably try the margarita pizza since I like tomatoes, mozzarella and basil. Great pizza, when it's delivered hot. We've had some inconsistency with deliveries and quality over the last couple years.

The family was craving pizza so we tried Local Pie. It was actually really tasty. We ordered the garlic knots and spinach artichoke dip for starters. The red sauce was delicious with the garlic dipping knots, the six were gone in a minute. The spinach dip was very thick dip with a tremendous amount of cheese. It was served with house made chips the were delicious. If you're not a cheese fan the spinach artichoke will definitely disappoint. But, we are cheese fans. We ordered two 16" pies, the little bear and the souped up. They fed six people with left overs for lunch on thanksgiving day. The souped up had a great combination of Greek olives, Italian sausage, mushrooms, green peppers, onions and pepperoni. It was a pleasing blend the Greek olives added a taste punch that black olive lack. Well worth the extra effort by local pie. The second pie the little bear, had pepperoni, Italian sausage and sliced local meatballs, with mozzarella as the main cheese. The three meats combined to make a complex savory blend to the tongue. It also kept my glucose in a stable state after having a couple of slices. The meal was a nice treat for the thanksgiving week stay. read more

Nice facility, new and spacious. We are looking at it as a pizza place. Of the three pizza joints we tried on HHI, this is our favorite. Wood fired, thin crust, lots of topping. Service was quick and friendly, but I was a little turned off seeing one of the pizza makers eating a slice of pizza where he makes ours, what a perk of the job! My husband wished there was shrimp topping, and more varied toppings. I was surprised by calamata olives on the veggie pizza. We would go back for sure. read more

Local Pie had just finished their Happy Hour when we arrived for dinner so we were lucky to get a table promptly. Be mindful that it does get busy during that time so you may have to wait for a table. There are TVs situated throughout the restaurant playing interesting content like funny animal videos and a surfing competition - it kept my family entertained along with the restaurant's playlist of pop-punk hits. Both of my daughters ordered a kids cheese pizza. My husband and I got one of tbt signature pizzas, the Baller. Pies come medium or large. We enjoyed ours but the edges of one of our daughter's pies was burnt- that's the risk you take when going to a wood fired pizza joint. We had the wedge salad which was really good. My husband got the LaLa pizza which needed a little more sauce and I got the Veggie Pie which was delicious! The wood fired crust was great. The service was quick. Actually, too quick. We had just gotten our salad starter and our pizzas came out right behind it. The server was sweet & apologetic, but the exact thing happened to the table next to us. So, if you want your salad or appetizer truly ahead of your meal so you can enjoy it without letting your pizza get cold, hold off on ordering your pizza until your starter arrives. I'm not sure what it was, but both my husband's and my water had a really bad taste. Last helpful tip: be sure to ask if there are any specials for the night if your server doesn't tell you when they first come to your table. I heard a different server telling her tables after we had ordered and had I known I would have ordered differently. This place is a sleeper Great pizza! Once you order it .due to the heat of the ovens it comes out quickly Pizza is five stars. This is some of the best pizza I have ever had. Margherita pizza is simple and delicious! The appetizer we had was okay Fried green tomato and mozzarella...it was good but something neas missing or off... maybe cheese was too cold , or tomatoes slightly too firm. Extremely Disappointing Experience From the moment we arrived, this visit was frustrating. There was no host at the entrance, and we waited several minutes before a bartender had to step away from behind the bar to acknowledge us and seat us--something that should have been handled promptly upon our arrival. While I appreciated the bartender's professionalism and the kind acknowledgment of my military service, the rest of our experience fell far below any reasonable expectation of quality service. After being seated, we watched multiple parties--including two couples, a family of five, and another party of two--get seated after us and yet receive their food, drinks, and even checks before we were even able to place our order. There was a noticeable lack of attentiveness to our table. We were not checked on regularly, and it felt as if our presence was overlooked. For a dining experience with my family, this was extremely disappointing and frustrating. Service is just as important as the food, and unfortunately, both were undermined by the unacceptable wait and poor customer care. I cannot in good faith recommend this restaurant based on our experience. read more

Wood fired pizza gets me juicy so maybe my expectations were too high. This might be someone's favorite pizza but it's mids for me. Overall the crust was a bit too thick maybe overworked very dense and chewy. Wood fired puts me in mind light airy bubbly crust, this definitely wasn't that. We got a couple zas the specialty mushroom pizza had barely cooked mushrooms and onions for toppings. I like raw onions but nearly raw mushrooms not so much. Overall not for me, might be your new favorite though, possibly worth a try. read more

21 year old-drunk college student-me would've LOVED this place. Any other self-respecting adult version of myself is embarrassed that I actually spent money here. Poorly constructed. Rough is over worked and chewy. 16" is just the 12" stretched thinner (with an added charge for ....? Who knows ). Whatever the wait time is, add 40 minutes. No seasonings used - literally not even a flake of oregano to be found in this place. Very bland. They do have By The Slice but it looks like the ninja turtles made it in the sewer. read more

Their wood fired pizza is the best on HHI, and the beer selection is always pushing the limits on quality brew-creations. If pizza isn't your thing, the Father Sarducci is one of their money subs. It come on a fresh baked sub roll that's crispy on the outside, soft on the inside with a delicious herb-fetta dressing. Pro Tips: Get the dressing on the side for dipping. Excellent spot to grab a pizza! Stopped in for carry out, had a glass of vino, and then grabbed pizza and wings to go. Pizza had a good crust and the toppings for the pizza were on a thin dough. Wings we got were bbq and were tasty. For those who noted the crust was burnt in previous reviews, this is true, it is wood fired pizza and it is tasty! I had heard good things about this place, and who doesn't love pizza? Plus they have wood fired pizza to get that nicely-flavored crust. Count me in! The wood fired oven enables a quick cook time, so it was a very short wait from when I ordered to when I picked up. I got the Parma princess pizza. It was really good, although I wish there would've been a little more consistency from bite to bite. The bites that were good really, really hit. The prosciutto with the cheese and the olive oil drizzle at the end--chef's kiss. I'm not sure if they're open for dine-in, but the inside didn't look like it.
