Fun place for kids, but the food was overpriced and poor quality. The menu had a very limited selection. Everything was served in cheap plastic baskets and disposable styrofoam cups. The crab cake sandwich was soggy and plain. There was no vegetable garnish and the bun was not toasted. The crab and shrimp dip appetizer looked and tasted like a bowl of seafood bisque. It was served with cheap tortilla chips that were clearly poured out of a bag, not heated or cooked in house. The setting was beautiful on the intercoastal waterway. Amazing! We are from a place where you can't get fresh seafood so this place hit the spot! When we arrived the place was busy but they had a lot of seating both inside and outside. We opted to sit outside because the weather couldn't have been better. We had a view of a canal where we were able to see some dolphins swimming around which was fun to see. To start our meal we ordered a bucket of steamed oysters (we had to shuck them but it wasn't to hard) For our main course we decided on a Half and Half Seafood Boil and a Snow Grab plate was the perfect amount for us to share. Saved you from reading the rest. This spot was picked for an engagement party. Apparently it's a local hit and a must at stop when in Tybee. Huge dirt parking lot leads to a cluster of beach-like huts spread out across the campus. If you have kids, then this is a hot spot. Be prepared for higher prices here! I loved the atmosphere here. And if it wasn't for the weak ass drinks, I'd say it would be a great spot for happy hours. Yes, it took 4 drinks for me to get a buzz and that was mostly due to the beer I had at the start. Nothing from the banana daiquiri, Bloody Mary or the shot I had. I'm not a heavyweight and hadn't had a drink in a couple days prior. Service was stellar. We had a huge party of about 20 and they were on top of it. The half dozen oysters I had were large oysters but $20 still felt like I was being cheated. Felt is a keyword, because I've had a dozen oysters for $24 that were much much smaller. My meal (deviled crab) was ok. The slaw was ok. Everything food-wise was just ok. The shot I ordered was a concoction they made up because they didn't have the ingredients for a buttery nipple. It was gross and I could not finish it. If you're looking for the full Tybee Island experience, this is it. We ordered the **snow crab boil**, plus crawfish and clams, and honestly we were in heaven. This place is all about show. It's a great for families with kids and large parties. There is a bird room with interesting unique birds and there is an alligator lagoon in which you can buy food to feed the baby gators. There are a few venue spots and the view from the outside table areas is scenic on the water. The service, however, well let's say is busy. They will take your order once, check on you once to see if you want more drinks, and then bring you the bill and state the total out loud (weird). I asked the server to take a family photo of us and it was not welcomed. The photo did not come out well so I won't post it. This place was so fun we ate there twice during our week trip in Tybee. We had the Captains platter for 2 which feed my family of 4. It was so nice to sit outside on the covered patio and walk around after dinner. Staff was all so friendly and helpful. My kids loved seeing the alligators and finding the cats around the property. I've been to Tybee Island a number of times but never stopped in to this place. Well, I know why now. Great atmosphere, great service but the food? I'll pass. I know every place has their own spin on a boil and yeah other restaurants not in a seafood area can go crazy with the different seasonings, but this boil didn't even have "Old Bay" on it! Cold corn, tasteless potatoes, and mushy shrimp! Very disappointing. My wife had the crab leg boil which she said the crab legs were good, but again no seasonings. You get a lot of food for what you pay for but what good is it if there is no flavor. Will I give it another try when we come back to Tybee/Savannah? We just love the Jumble "where's waldo" chaos in the decorating of this waterfront restaurant located off Rt 80 in a residential section We ordered a Low Country Snow Crab Boil with Extra Corn. He loves the Snow Crab but I have to break it out for him! They didn't have PBR so he went with Budweiser and I drank water w lemon & lime. Definitely had a great time! I begrudgingly give this restaurant three stars based solely on the ambiance. I have gone to The Crab Shack for years when I lived in the south ( have not been in three years) . I'm not sure why but unbeknownst to us our Captain's Crab Sampler for two was completely unseasoned and could not have been more bland, and I must mention it was also served with cold sausage, cold and undercooked corn and potatoes. If my memory serves me we used to be able to choose the level of spice? I will say, our beers did manage to not be served cold however. I brought an out of town guest who had never had a seafood boil before and suffice to say he doesn't care to have another one. The ambiance did have its usual and typical pirate charm and the service was attentive. This was the only saving grace for the visit. They have alligators on site which is fun to walk around and look at before/after you eat. It also sits on the water so we got a table next to it so we can have a good view during lunch. The crab legs and mussels were perfectly cooked. Delicious, butter to dip in, the whole shebang. Messy, flavorful, and juicy, exactly what you want if you're looking to break open some shells. Best part is they have a garbage right in the middle of the table to throw scraps in, and they have a sink to wash up in the dining room rather than getting the bathroom all greasy! 10/10 for planning that one! We got the captain sampler plate for 4. It had crab legs, mussels, crawfish, shrimp, potato's, corn and sausage. The service was pretty quick and our server kept bringing us drink refills. The seafood was pretty good but the crawfish was okay. It was not very fresh. All the other seafood was good and well seasoned. Also wish the corn was a little more seasoned. The indoor dining area was definitely hot and felt congested. I preferred the outdoor seating. I also wish they had more drink options like Dr Pepper. The food was very good. You can feed baby alligators for $5 or more. The 3 stars are because the service is horrible. Ayden our server was nice, but we only saw him once after he took our order. Also, it took a very long time for him to give and collect our check. Since we were a large group, the 22% tip was automatically included in the bill. Unfortunately, Ayden did not deserve a 22% tip. Theres an alligator sanctuary where you can feed them, exotic bird area, arcade and gift shop. Multiple bar areas, huge dining area. I loved this place. As someone who was born and raised in south Florida, this felt exactly like going to Robbie's in the keys. The food, gift shop, outside and vibes felt exactly the same. It made me super happy and felt like I was at home. If you don't wanna eat I'd recommend at-least coming for the vibes alone. Grab a drink and see the water and walk around.
