This place is all about show. It's a great for families with kids and large parties. There is a bird room with interesting unique birds and there is an alligator lagoon in which you can buy food to feed the baby gators. There are a few venue spots and the view from the outside table areas is scenic on the water. The service, however, well let's say is busy. They will take your order once, check on you once to see if you want more drinks, and then bring you the bill and state the total out loud (weird). I asked the server to take a family photo of us and it was not welcomed. The photo did not come out well so I won't post it. Overall, this is a unique spot to experience, but don't go for the food or service.

I'm so sorry, but there was no flavor in my shrimp boil. Potatoes had no taste and sausage was not good. Left most of my food on my plate. Husband got clam chowder and said it was okay. He also got a chilli dog because he is not a seafood person. I think this is just a tourist trap.

Tony and I went to our favorite restaurant on Tybee Island "The Crab Shack". We discovered this restaurant back in 2014 with Noël Teel while in Savannah & Tybee Island area. We just love the Jumble "where's waldo" chaos in the decorating of this waterfront restaurant located off Rt 80 in a residential section We ordered a Low Country Snow Crab Boil with Extra Corn. He loves the Snow Crab but I have to break it out for him! They didn't have PBR so he went with Budweiser and I drank water w lemon & lime. Definitely had a great time! Definitely love the place and will go back again! Highly recommend to everyone!

I begrudgingly give this restaurant three stars based solely on the ambiance. I have gone to The Crab Shack for years when I lived in the south ( have not been in three years) . I've enjoyed the seafood boil every visit. I'm not sure why but unbeknownst to us our Captain's Crab Sampler for two was completely unseasoned and could not have been more bland, and I must mention it was also served with cold sausage, cold and undercooked corn and potatoes. If my memory serves me we used to be able to choose the level of spice? I will say, our beers did manage to not be served cold however. I brought an out of town guest who had never had a seafood boil before and suffice to say he doesn't care to have another one. The ambiance did have its usual and typical pirate charm and the service was attentive. This was the only saving grace for the visit. What a shame and what a disappointment this was, but if you only want to visit a place for its cute ambiance this is your choice.

Family and I loved this place. The atmosphere here is super fun and it doesn't get more beachy than this place. The location is fabulous and the food is delicious. So glad we found this place! I highly recommend this place, especially if you are a tourist. It was like walking onto a movie set.

Always a favorite, good food, huge portions, and a great atmosphere to chill while eating good seafood.

I really enjoyed this spot, I was craving seafood and saw all the signs to go. It's on the water, has decent views & a nice ambiance. The oysters were surprisingly big & tasty. The Low country boil was seasoned and they gave a lot of shrimp. Julie was very attentive and have great service. They have a Gator area where you can feed or just look at the gators it's a pretty cool spot.

If the overall vibes didn't bring you here, the food will! The goal was crab legs and we found this place. You pull in and it looks like a beach shack, tons of parking. They have alligators on site which is fun to walk around and look at before/after you eat. It also sits on the water so we got a table next to it so we can have a good view during lunch. The crab legs and mussels were perfectly cooked. Delicious, butter to dip in, the whole shebang. Messy, flavorful, and juicy, exactly what you want if you're looking to break open some shells. Best part is they have a garbage right in the middle of the table to throw scraps in, and they have a sink to wash up in the dining room rather than getting the bathroom all greasy! 10/10 for planning that one! The service was good, we got sat right away and she got us everything we needed. I would recommend and would come back!

We got the captain sampler plate for 4. It had crab legs, mussels, crawfish, shrimp, potato's, corn and sausage. The service was pretty quick and our server kept bringing us drink refills. The seafood was pretty good but the crawfish was okay. It was not very fresh. All the other seafood was good and well seasoned. Also wish the corn was a little more seasoned. The indoor dining area was definitely hot and felt congested. I preferred the outdoor seating. I also wish they had more drink options like Dr Pepper. I got a lemonade and it was out of syrup cause it only taste like lemon water. Overall, a good place to go before or after tybee.

We spent over 2 hours here! We especially loved the lady at the gift shop. She smiled a lot and was so friendly. We got a few items since she was so cheerful. Feeding the gators were fun. $5 for 4 piecs of gator good, which we got two bags. Put it on a end of a fishing line, drop it down with the pole, then the gators eats the piece of food in the water. Snow cone was $2 each, very reasonable. Food was very fresh and delicious. I was impressed. The snow crab was very fresh. Mussels, shrimps, crawfish, sausages and potatoes were seasoned well, not too salty. Will come again!

Was dying for some seafood while on Tybee island, and had seen some good reviews for this place online. The good: - The seafood was fresh with lots of Old Bay :) - Very cool baby alligator haven (you can buy alligator food for a few dollars to feed them), and a bird house for animal lovers. - lots of seating, no need for a reservation - attentive service, waitress checked on us several times despite it being a busy lunch rush The less good: - we ate outside, and by nature of being close to the water there were a lot of small bugs flying around the food - a bit expensive for the very casual experience (though the seafood was good) Overall, good seafood on Tybee Island. This is a very casual joint, though the prices don't necessarily reflect that.

Back again! This time with family. Wanted them to experience the amazing low country boil in such a unique dining area with a water view. If you are seeking an authentic southern seafood experience, this is it! The parking & exterior appearance will make you call your choice into question. Just wait! The inside is like dining on a deck in a treehouse. It's tiki summer fun charm, and the food and service are outstanding! Great for kids too! Theres an alligator sanctuary where you can feed them, exotic bird area, arcade and gift shop. Multiple bar areas, huge dining area. This is mostly open air with very little cover from the elements, so i am not sure what they do if it's raining or bad weather. No reservations. Good for groups. If theres a wait, WAIT! Once again great food and very friendly and attentive service. Cant wait to come back on next visit to Tybee.

    Pulled pork and a boil.

I ordered a boil that included crab, mussels, shrimp and sausage. The flavor was very good on the seafood items. The sausage seemed like something from Kroger. It was rubbery. The seafood was top notch. All the boils where I'm from have a lot of sauce to dip up. You are usually offered different options and varying amount of heat. This had little to no sauce, only butter. But....it was really good. Maybe that's just how it's served in the south. Wife had a pulled pork sandwich. She didn't like the bbq sauce option so the offered Baby Ray's, which she was ok with. I would come back for sure.

The evening's band was getting set up when we arrived. The food was great. Leila, our waiter, could not have been more helpful. We had a huge fried snapper, a plate of tortillas, a plate with lettuce, tomatoes, onions and grated cheese, and one bowl each of salsa picante and grated Mexican cheese. And we enjoyed it throughly. Because this was their first time in Savannah, we couldn't let them leave without a visit to the beach. Although the day was a bit overcast and windy, it was still a nice afternoon and we decided to grab some local fare before heading back to Pooler. Salt Island is a small restaurant located right on the main strip as you turn into the seafront area. There is limited parking in and around the restaurant, but we were lucky because Sunday afternoon was fairly deserted. However, I would imagine that on a busy weekend you would likely need to find creative parking because a lot of the nearby parking seemed to be reserved for home and condominium owners. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating with a sizable bar and plenty of room to entertain larger groups. The menu is fairly simple but packed with a couple of really interesting items that you wouldn't technically expect to find in a beachfront fish house. And while we didn't order any of the more offbeat items, I have to say, seeing Chicken Tinga on the menu was a pleasant surprise. Especially since my in-laws are Mexican. Lol, I actually ordered the whole fried snapper tacos, which was essentially a whole fish fried to perfection but then accompanied with a bounty of authentic Mexican taco fixings including fresh tortillas, Cajita cheese, and fresh salsa and guacamole. The waiter promised I would be the envy of the table, and I was! This thing was so big. I ended up taking some of it home and eating it as a late night fish taco snack. The rest of the table ordered a combination of the fresh fish served any way you like it and the shell on shrimp boil. Both options were also fantastic. They also offer a variety of beers and have a fairly full bar so there's fun to be had here for everyone. Service was also really tight with our waiter making multiple trips to the table to make sure everybody was good. This is definitely a spot I would recommend if you are hanging out at the beach.

She described the menu items in a way that you only expect to find from a waiter in the finest restaurants in the world.
