I was dining alone at lunch today, so I asked to be seated at the bar. Morgan was the absolute best! Even though I was driving and had water to drink instead of a cocktail, she was amazing! She asked me what type of lunch was I interested in (crab legs take time and more work, but so worth it, etc!). She made great suggestions, and truly the food was delivered in What seems like Seconds! Absolutely hands down the best crab legs that i have ever had!!

If you're looking for the full Tybee Island experience, this is it. We ordered the **snow crab boil**, plus crawfish and clams, and honestly we were in heaven. Everything was fresh, seasoned perfectly, and exactly what you hope for when you're craving a seafood boil. The beer was ice cold, which made it even better. The setting is what really makes this place special. You're eating right on the water, the picnic tables have built-in trash cans for all the shells, and the whole place has a laid-back, old-school coastal vibe that's hard to find anymore. After we finished eating, we fed the alligators, which was such a fun way to end the meal. This is one of those places you remember long after your trip. We'll be coming back every time we're in the Savannah/Tybee area.

So we had seen so many videos in this place and had some friends tell us about it we decided to give it a try. I'm not into seafood that much but wife is and loves boils so we decided to try it. Man we were sad we did. I'll start by saying this is a fun roadside attraction type of a place. I'm sure kids would love it. Also staff were very friendly. The food however. Well not so much. I just got a chili dog with the mashed potatoes and a cup of clam chowder. The chowder was decent not great and to be honest the chili dog was good for what it is but that's not why you go. The mashed taters were horrible. The wife got the shrimp and sausage boil with corn and potatoes. Not a lick of seasoning. The potatoes were cooked well but 0 and I mean 0 flavor. Shrimp seemed fresh but again 0 flavor. I guess they are afraid of old bay or any seasoning for that matter. The sausage was also not good at all. Not sure what kind they use but it is not good. Stop and check the place out but eat somewhere worth your money.

Amazing food and service! We got the platter for two and it was huge! Plenty of leftovers! I recommend the deviled crab and the snow crab legs! I will definitely come back! It was that good!

This place is all about show. It's a great for families with kids and large parties. There is a bird room with interesting unique birds and there is an alligator lagoon in which you can buy food to feed the baby gators. There are a few venue spots and the view from the outside table areas is scenic on the water. The service, however, well let's say is busy. They will take your order once, check on you once to see if you want more drinks, and then bring you the bill and state the total out loud (weird). I asked the server to take a family photo of us and it was not welcomed. The photo did not come out well so I won't post it. Overall, this is a unique spot to experience, but don't go for the food or service.

This place was so fun we ate there twice during our week trip in Tybee. We had the Captains platter for 2 which feed my family of 4. It was so nice to sit outside on the covered patio and walk around after dinner. Staff was all so friendly and helpful. My kids loved seeing the alligators and finding the cats around the property. Cats are super friendly and let the kids pet them.

The price to food ratio here is the biggest part of why it got 4 stars. The food itself was actually really good. The atmosphere as beautiful with a nice view of the water and cool seating and unique tables. The service however was terrible. I felt as if I had to tell my waiter how to do his job. The water also tasted horrible as well. The food was good, cool restaurant, mid service.

Such a cool place! There were birds, cats, and alligators all in one place! Our waiter was really nice and understanding since it was our first time here. Our food was all really good and we were stuffed afterwards. Only thing i would complain about is flies.

This restaurant was suggested from a local-- Great place! Food was seasoned perfectly.

I've been to Tybee Island a number of times but never stopped in to this place. Well, I know why now. Great atmosphere, great service but the food? I'll pass. I know every place has their own spin on a boil and yeah other restaurants not in a seafood area can go crazy with the different seasonings, but this boil didn't even have "Old Bay" on it! Cold corn, tasteless potatoes, and mushy shrimp! Very disappointing. My wife had the crab leg boil which she said the crab legs were good, but again no seasonings. You get a lot of food for what you pay for but what good is it if there is no flavor. Will I give it another try when we come back to Tybee/Savannah? Possibly but will try other seafood places for comparison.

Tony and I went to our favorite restaurant on Tybee Island "The Crab Shack". We discovered this restaurant back in 2014 with Noël Teel while in Savannah & Tybee Island area. We just love the Jumble "where's waldo" chaos in the decorating of this waterfront restaurant located off Rt 80 in a residential section We ordered a Low Country Snow Crab Boil with Extra Corn. He loves the Snow Crab but I have to break it out for him! They didn't have PBR so he went with Budweiser and I drank water w lemon & lime. Definitely had a great time! Definitely love the place and will go back again! Highly recommend to everyone!

I'm so sorry, but there was no flavor in my shrimp boil. Potatoes had no taste and sausage was not good. Left most of my food on my plate. Husband got clam chowder and said it was okay. He also got a chilli dog because he is not a seafood person. I think this is just a tourist trap.

    Do you need reservations?

    No :)

The treatment of the parrots and birds really concerned me. Where are they from? How are they taken care of?

The birds have been not really donated, but given to the crab shack. If you read the papers on the cages, I believe it says. Many of them have been given from people who know that the shack takes care if the birds. They always have food and water…

    Dog friendly outside on deck?

    Yes

Is there live music there on Sundays?

Hi Crystal! The Crab Shack does not offer live music, but there is Sirius Radio Margaritaville playing throughout the entire restaurant. Be sure to feed the baby alligators in the Gator Lagoon and visit the rescued exotic birds in the Gift Shack…

Would we be able to bring our 2 dogs , a 65 lb Golden Retriever & Collie mix he's @ 65lbs &our 10year old Brussels Griffon?

They have cats the freely roam the property and animals in their store to view...I believe dogs have been there but have to be kept super close to the owner. Personally, I don't reccomend bringing larger dogs as the space between the seatings is not…

The restaurant is right on the water in the middle of a marina, so fishing boats come in and they clean the fish not far from the restaurant's edge. We started off with a half pound shrimp that was hot and well seasoned. The tartar sauce was very spicy with horseradish. I tried the special Herb Salad. It was tasty but a little pricey at 18.63. It would have been tasty with some pecans or walnuts. For entrees we tried the shrimp and grits. Very tasty with red eye gravy on top. Was missing the sausage, but still very good. Shrimp was well seasoned. The scallop dinner was delicious. Came with Alfredo sauce, hush puppies and a side salad. Prices are fair for all local seafood, which is what you expect on Tybee. And you can taste the difference in the local seafood. Very fresh and tasty. My one negative here was food came out too fast. We were still enjoying salads, then the shrimp appetizer came out. We were still eating our shrimp app, and the entrees came out. Felt a little rushed. The server was ready to bring the check, but we asked for dessert first. They already ran out of one dessert and just had the special, which was cheesecake. I normally don't complain about food coming out too fast, but when you are rushing through your courses, it feels like they need your table quickly. Food was really good, so it was just easy enough to ask for to go boxes with what we could not finish. Go early so there is no wait. People were waiting as we were leaving.

We stopped here for lunch on a Tuesday, place wasn't too busy and the service was attentive and both drink and food came out quick. We had hush puppies and peel & eat shrimp to start. The hush puppies weren't much on their own (as they tend to be) but dipped in honey butter they were damn good and kind of addictive. The peel and eat shrimp were cooked perfectly, sweet and succulent. After peeling don't forget to devein if needed... about half our order had some mud vein remaining (which is fine for peel and eat, just remove it!). Then my wife and I split the lunch special, a double fried flounder sandwich with cheese and tartar sauce... a take on McDs double fillet-o-fish. It was amazing! The fresh flounder was cooked perfectly and was soft and juicy inside its crispy fried crust. My wife especially appreciated the toasted bun! The coleslaw that was the lunch special side wasn't great... under seasoned imo. I put a little malt vinegar, salt & pepper on it and it was fine. To finish it off we split a piece of key lime pie. This is the first time either of us had key lime pie, so we don't have much context to compare this to, but our experience with this key lime pie was amazing. The crust was one of the best graham crusts I've had. It was buttery and cooked to the point it had a caramel taste to it. The filling had a cheesecake taste and texture to it with a distinct citrus lime tang. The whipped topping was creamy and cool, a perfect complement to the custard-like filling. A wonderful dessert! Now, the only bad part of this review is of the bathrooms. As much as I like a dive bar, back country vibe... the bathrooms are gross. My wife was visibly disgusted when she returned to the table. Later in our trip she used the restroom at a Savannah gas station and joked it was the Taj Mahal compared to the restroom at Bubba Gumbo's. So, be warned... just hold it if you can! Bathrooms 1-Star... and that's just because they have one and it has running water LOL
