One of the best lil spots I found traveling west. Al (manager) was very friendly and I had the first waffle taco ever made and it was delicious 10/10 will try and hit it again on my way back home

While on a long drive from Colorado Springs to Minneapolis via Omaha, we stopped by this place located with a Shell gas station off I-80 to fuel up and eat a very late lunch. We intended to stop along our route earlier for the 2 F's, fuel and food, but we were trying outrun a weather system threatening with heavy rain, high winds, golf ball-sized hail, and even some tornado warnings. We went through the fringes of the weather system driving through Holdrege, NE along Highway 183, and we encountered heavy rain and some hail...we definitely didn't want to get caught in the middle of that. So we bypassed stopping at Kearney and Grand Island and stopped at York after we felt sufficiently far enough away from the relatively slow moving the storm. Having lived in Hawai'i for the past 8 years, we never had to deal with hail, let alone tornadoes. Yikes! With the time change from Mountain Time to Central Time as we made our way from Colorado through Kansas and to Nebraska, it was almost 5:00 PM by the time we stopped for a "very" late lunch. Huddle House is a lot like a Waffle House...although this one is fairly new and didn't look dingy or well-worn as most Waffle Houses seem to look like. After looking at the menu, my wife was intrigued by their smothered hash browns...basically bacon, sausage, cheese, and eggs sandwiched between two "patties" of hash browns with gravy poured on top. Talk about a heart attack! I ordered the chopped steak (ala Salisbury steak) and mashed potatoes with mushroom gravy on top. All in all, it was a filling and satisfying late lunch. Oh BTW, it looks like this is the only Huddle House in the entire state of Nebraska...and it looked to be quite popular with the locals as we saw mostly older folks streaming in for an early dinner who the servers greeted like family or friends. Not bad at all...especially after outrunning a storm.

Similar to Denny's except a little better, but pricier. It was fine, and our server was friendly.

We have a local Applebee's and we do not go there anymore because the service and food have not met expectations.. We were expecting just OK, however, the service was excellent, the food was served hot and great portions, and the overall experience and friendly atmosphere made our travel day a lot better. if you are disappointed in your Applebee's, the York, Ne one will bring back the good food and service memories of the past.

My husband ordered the Bourbon chicken and shrimp as he usually does; it was over cooked. I ordered the 6 oz sirloin medium well, when it arrived it was over cooked on the outside and medium rare on the inside. I asked for it to be butterflies and when it returned it was almost charcoal on the outside and it was in fact charcoaled on the tip. The remaining items were fine. I informed the server that the cook needed to lower the flame and cook the meats slower and lower. I was informed that they have had several complaints along the same line and the cooks don't listen when informed. There is also a staffing issue as were informed that they were lacking several servers. This location is in dire need of overhaul as far as I can tell.

Parking is downtown diagonal street parking. The inside is decorated nicely. Old brick and wood feel with a cool bar towards the front . The partially open kitchen fills the back of the long narrow restaurant. The service was great. Someone from the kitchen brought out each plate. The Old Fashioned was decent, but it did lack the single cube that takes the cocktail to the next level. The small wedge salad was plenty and it was amazing. The Chicken and pasta dish was amazing. Great flavor. The chicken and pasta were both cooked perfectly. I loved everything about this place. That craft cocktail would take you to perfect. Thanks. I enjoyed it.

The food began with a small plate of bacon wrapped shrimp with homemade bbq sauce that were fantastic. We then shared a small strawberry pecan salad that was very good. (A sweeter dressing like Raspberry Vinaigrette would be a nice touch.) Our entree was a 8 oz. Filet cooked to perfection! Sides were macaroni and cheese and brussel sprouts. Both equally delicious. We loved our bottle of Riesling... White Rabbit. Will definitely be having that again. And to end the night, we took home the most scrumptious crème brûlée! I can't wait until our next visit.
