The lighting is a soft yellow but bright enough to read/do work. The menu is broad and drinks include coffee, caffeine-free and cocktails. Food options include breakfast options, pastries (most/all sourced from Reunion bread), snacks and a cheese selection. We came Sunday morning and unfortunately the inside was already full so we were seated in the large tent with wooden tables/benches in the back. The best coffee shop in Denver I have been to. Hudson Hill exceeds in both quality of food and beverage, as well as hospitality and service. I have had the pleasure of visiting Hudson Hill 3 times in the past 6 months, and each experience was as great as the last. All of the staff is extremely friendly. I was not expecting table service when I first walked in, but I was surprised as I was promptly sat and provided with a menu. The seating area that I was sat in was full of luscious green plants and was well lit from the sunlight coming through the window. The vibe of the coffee shop was very relaxing with indie folk music playing in the background. I tried a vanilla spiced latte, which had a perfect amount of spice to it and was a suitable drink for the times in which I went and it was cold out. The real highlight and reason for my return to Hudson Hill is the grilled cheese. When ordering a grilled cheese, one does not usually order it for it's extravagance. The Hudson Hill grilled cheese breaks this mold and takes your taste buds on an adventure. The cheese is melty, and the bread is toasted to perfection. This place was ok, but a bit dark and too bougey for my taste. Parking is kind of a pain. I came for happy hour and no one greeted me at the door or anything so I just picked a place to sit and eventually someone came to take my order. They don't serve real food (only cheeses and such) so don't come here hungry. They had ran out of grilled cheese by the end of happy hour. Wine pours were meh. It can get really loud in there so not the best place for conversation. Maybe I'd like this place better if I went during the day when it's a coffeeshop. read more

Hudson Hill has been a rad neighborhood spot for us since Jake opened up here. Lady Jane in the Highlands is great too, by the way! The space is cool: exposed brick, wooden beams, plants. The servers are always straight forward and timely. The drinks are truly always mixed well and their cocktail of the day is very inventive. They serve up delicious coffee too, so it's a good spot to work at during the day. My favorite part about this joint is that they only spin vinyl. Triggering discrimination warning I'm looking for a new spot. Relaxing, put together, clean. You see these pictures and how inclusive, bright, and welcoming it all seems... The moment I walked in, everyone looked at me as if "can we help you" couldn't have meant more obviously: "you don't have a mac book pro, I see you're not dressed like every other bitch in this place; how may I help you..." I proceed to wait for my drink that never came and I immediately understood that they were not going to because I seemed as though I should just leave. This is supposed to be capitol hill's premier "cocktail joint" even without a real kitchen and with a tiny inconsistent drink menu, but recently the menu has turned completely stale of any fresh or worthwhile ideas and I was also charged TWENTY FIVE DOLLARS for a single off menu drink with no garnish (naked and famous with del maguey chichicapa) with a premium spirit upcharge that hasn't suffered any recent price spikes and I'm thinking you can skip this place until it gets sold. Hudson Hill was on my musts list of places to try while I was in Denver. I really liked the concept of them being a cafe by day and cocktail bar at night. I love to post up in a coffee shop for hours at a time to do work and there's no better reward than a nice glass of wine afterwards! You can do both here and that seemed like a cool idea to me. I was running short on time left in my vacation and on my last night I took an Uber here from my hotel because I just had to come....or did I? Still unsure about how I feel about my experience. The interior is nice, very dark mood lighting and some cozy chairs and couches near the window with other seating in the main dining area. The interior is small and cozy, great for meeting up with some friends or date night. I took a seat at the very end of the bar and it took a bit of time for someone to notice me and bring a menu over. This was probably the first place I felt weird being alone at. The other clientele gave me weird looks, it wasn't the social environment I was hoping for or had received in all of the other bars and restaurants I had gone into during my trip here. Their coffee and cocktail menu truly looked insane, and the prices were totally reasonable! I asked one of the bartenders about their sparkling Rose and whether or not it was dry but she didn't know. She sort of just said I don't know really I'm not sure and then said she thinks the regular Rose is. So I went with a glass of their regular Rose and it was just fine, I wanted bubbles but didn't want to risk a sweet wine so stuck with the safer choice. Their food menu was tiny, consisting of bar snacks like Marcona almonds, okra, bread and butter, a bacon plate, and various cheese to choose from. I mean you could literally order a grilled cheese, totally fun but also totally random. Their spiked coffee drinks sounded incredible too; a cold brew coolata with rum, coconut and rosemary, pear old fashioned, cold brew Negroni, chamomile sour made with an egg white, YUM! They also had a turmeric latte on their menu which sounded divine. I wasn't checked on by any bartenders, I wasn't asked if I wanted to order food, nobody engaged in any sort of conversation, nobody asked how my drink was or if I wanted another. It took a while to get anyone's attention to grab a check. I feel comfortable going into restaurants and bars alone when I travel because I'm a super sociable and friendly person and truly like making friends with people in the industry and other guests but there was none of that happening here, at all. I felt super uncomfortable, finished my one drink, paid my bill and called and Uber to take me back downtown where my hotel was. It wasn't worth the stop in my opinion but I definitely think this place is perfect for people who love that whole cafe/cocktail vibe and have friends they can can converse with when nobody else will. read more

I'm writing this review having been both a patron and neighbor of this establishment. As a patron, this place is cute inside but otherwise mediocre. Their cocktails are not well balanced and the food selection is unimpressive. The coffee is nothing special, but the waitstaff is nice enough to paying customers. As a neighbor, this place sucks. Hudson Hill regularly allows people to block the alley while they are inside the establishment, which is both inconsiderate to residents (who must use the alley to get home) and a ticketable offense without a permit. We had a long wait at Jelly and stumbled into this spot by chance while we were waiting. We are really thankful that we did! It was one of the classiest coffee shops that I have ever been to. We walked in and were shocked to be greeted by a hostess who seated us (in a coffee shop!!). We then were seated based on our preference, provided with menus, and had table service (in a coffee shop!!). I asked about the coffee daily feature. The server had to ask and provided me with the alcohol feature. It was okay because I had already set my sights on the Dalgona Whipped Coffee. I come in on a Monday night after getting fries from my favorite place. I walk in to a bartender and her friend just staring me down, one person in the bar. Quickly becoming one of my very favorite coffee shops/bars. I've stopped in a few times now, to "work from home," for HH, and to sit and knit. It's been "practically perfect in every way." As a WFH spot, it has great lighting, tons of outlets, and strong wi-fi. The only negative is that your tushie might get sore from sitting on their bar stools for too long. If I need to work for more than a couple hours, I'd probably pick a place that has regular chairs with backs for more support. As a spot for Happy Hour, this spot offers some tasty beverages and some unique snacks (like bacon pate, salted smoked almonds, olives, bread and cheese). Has some great large seating areas that would be great for a group, or more intimate settings like a smaller settee and a couple chairs. Coffee drinks are delicious and lovingly crafted, as are the bar drinks. Service is friendly and attentive without being pushy. Some folks might complain about parking, especially with some pretty popular spots nearby. I've never had to circle the block more than once to find street parking. read more
