They offer shuttle services if you prefer to wait for your car elsewhere but I partake in the free WiFi getting a little work done while my service is getting taken care of. After purchasing a Volkswagen vehicle in May of 2023, I discovered that is was defective. My attempt to address the issue led me through a disheartening cycle of blame-shifting between Volkswagen's Customer CARE and the dealership. Volkswagen of the Hudson Valley, particularly the unfriendly staff in the parts department, pointed fingers at Customer CARE, citing a six-month wait for a critical part. Shannon, the parts manager, repeatedly blamed me by saying the VW APP wasn't downloaded properly, or it could be phone Carriers issue. What compounds the frustration is the personal toll this situation has taken on me. Multiple trips to Hudson Valley Volkswagen, with unfriendly encounters at the parts department, resulted in over 500 additional miles on our leased vehicle. I have incurred additional expenses for gas and tolls, and precious days of my time have been wasted on the phone and in person, only to get false promises. When I sought accountability from the sales and general mangers, Chip Popa and Chris Gavin, they acknowledge the issue but, unfortunately, offered empty promises. They didn't even reply to the emails they requested I send. He pledged to explore alternatives like transitioning into the 2024 model at no cost, or waiving payments to compensate for the months we have pain in full for a defective vehicle. Regrettably, these promises remain unfulfilled, leaving us in a state of utter frustration. Our experience optimizes a larger problem with Volkswagen of the Hudson Valley - a complete lack of accountability and resolution. Everyone involved seems to be pointing fingers at one another, leaving consumers like me in a perpetual state of limbo with no tangible solution in site. Their finance manager Kevin stated that I should receive compensation of sorts but it is above his pay grade. Chip Popa, the sales manager, stated, "you paid of the steak and fries but only received half a steak and no fries". Shannon, the parts manager, is described as being like "oil and vinegar with the customers". Not a great way for other employees to describe a coworker. After years of going to this dealership for service on and off and after (3) VW's, I have decided to never go back for service. I have always felt insulted after dealing with the Service Department. There is one white man there that is a total sourpuss of a human being. Curt and derogatory on the best days that I have encountered him. I always returned because of the distance proximity to my home. It's ok by me if they think rudeness is the answer to being an unprofessional business. The service desk person when I ask if I could bring in a part that needed assembly and offered to pay the labor fee told me it would be the equivalent of bringing a steak to a restaurant and asking them to cook it. Totally condescending. All other dealers said that it would be no problem. I'm done! My vehicle is a Touareg that is costly for repairs and parts and you would think they would see that as an ongoing opportunity for income to help maintain it. But, I quess that my brown skin equates that there is brown money in my wallet that they don't care for. I will travel to Middletown NY or CT going forward which are much larger facilities that look way more advanced. I have filed a complaint years ago and they have never improved. I have been there so many times and even while there I would walk into the show room while waiting for my vehicle and never once did any of the white sales people ever greet and or address if I might need help. I simply asked them if they could fill the ad blue fluid in my car so I didn't have to buy a funnel, but instead they were charging me $80 to do it and 1 million excuses of why they couldn't do the job that takes five minutes. The point is they have horrible service they don't care about their customers and with no one in line they had plenty of time to do the small favor for a customer. Volkswagen Hudson Valley needs to train everyone on good customer service so that the dealership reflects a good reputation. That only results in more customers and more business. My 2015 Golf R was in to get a rear differential replaced. It took over 4 weeks. The first 3 weeks Debbie was amazing. She kept me very up to date with what was happening. Last I heard from her, parts that were delivered came broken. I was told nothing would be ordered without my consent. The next week I called asking what's going on with the parts and Shannon answered to tell me they just got in that morning. The next day (Friday) I received a call at 5:46 but couldn't get to the phone. No voicemail. I called back 3 times at 5:51 and was left with no answer, leaving them a voicemail. Saturday. The very next day I called repeatedly and was left with no answer. The front desk even told me they were in but for some reason still no answer. Then 45 minutes before closing I was told my car is ready to get picked up. I was busy at that point so I couldn't go get it. If I got the call Friday night why wasn't I notified first thing Saturday morning. Or atleast left a voicemail that it was done from the Friday call. Monday (yesterday) I went to pick up the car and was surprised with several things. Ken told me that my radar wire magically melted and fried my radar. My radar has been hard wired to the fuse box for 2 years and never gave me an issue. He had no help or reasoning for how it happened. As well as I was told I had to pay for the parts that I was never notified about. The parts were broken during shipping. Why do I have ti pay for that? They were originally covered on the first purchase of them. I was in a rush so I had to just pay and deal with it later. After leaving the lot I heard very loud clanking coming from the front of the car. I got to work and opened my hood to find a positive battery terminal plastic cover sitting on top of my fuse box. (Connected to my fried radar?) I called to ask about the battery terminal cover in my engine bay. And she immediately told me that they didn't work on the front of my car at all and only did the rear diff. And after expressing my concern about the radar being fried and there being proof my battery was messed with she told me that my car may have been jump started. Shannon was very rude. Talked over me the entire time without listening to anything I had to say. She is very unprofessional and should be embarrassed to call herself a manager. Instead of offering any help she told me I can bring it in to get diag and pay their $150 diag fee. I guess it was done wrong since my raft got fried! I was told that the wire magically melted the second they started my car and went on the test drive. Since my car died the trip mileage reset. I picked my car up and it had 24.6 miles on it. Why was my car driven so much. And obviously so hard since it now has a front end noise. I bring my car to a dealership to prevent this type of thing from happening. And now here I am. Over charged for parts I never approved. A broken escort 360c max ($700) A melted $20 hard wire And now a front end clanking noise that was never there before. Service representatives are beyond rude. Got pointed at with a finger when addressed. Had an oil change appointment that ended with a water pump needing to be replaced. Was told since the process takes 4 hours, I would need to have it completed the following day. So I made an appointment from 8am - 12pm. Was specifically told not to worry because they have plenty of those items in stock. The next morning I arrive at 8 am to have water pump fixed. About an hour later I get pointed at by extremely rude representative stating that the part isn't in stock and they had to have it delivered from VW nearby. They provided me with a loaner until the car was finished. I had work at 4:30pm and mentioned I would appreciate if maybe I can pickup prior. She said she would let me know. After hours I decided to call and get an update, around 2-3pm. They mentioned to come at 4:45pm. So I missed work since 4:30pm was when my shift started. Went to VW at 4:45pm and was told they needed until 5pm. Finally went back at 5pm to see if vehicle was ready. It wasn't so I voiced my frustration in a professional manner stating something must be done to compensate for inconvenience from the entire day. I mentioned to representatives that it is very important to make sure the information they are stating to customers is accurate so people schedules won't get ruined based on the inability to simply check the prior evening if the part was actually in stock. What happened was a "RO" wasn't completed for the part that was supposed to be ready to be installed during my appointment time. So representative initially told me not to worry about part for following day because they have "plenty" in stock. Turns out we find out the lady never had her facts straight and the part wasn't in stock. My frustration comes from being told information that was invalid by an employee that couldn't double check to see if part was actually in stock prior to appointment at 8am. So not only did I have to be ready early in the morning for an appointment that ended up taking from 8am until 5:30pm After explaining my disappointment and frustration regarding situation. The female representative started to yell at me and create an extremely embarrassing and stressful situation for me. Mentioning statements like "I'm done with you" using profanity and disrespect towards a customer that was just inconvenienced for entire day. Cannot believe how absolutely unprofessional the female representative at VW service department was towards a customer. She is unable to handle her position and definitely unqualified to speak with customers. The many 1 star reviews from this establishment are almost all based on the service department. I can fully understand why that's the case after my experience with Hudson Valley VW service department. Was addressed in such a rude way that the only discount for my inconvenience would be $50. My total bill was way over $1000 with tax's and fees. Finally the floor man for mechanics made the executive decision to provide me with a $150 discount based on him acknowledging the inconvenience was their fault. Here's how that situation could have been avoided. Making sure parts are in stock by double checking with not only computer inventory, but physical in person with floor man of service department. I'm not a specialist by any means in this industry but even I would have handled that situation better by guaranteeing part was in stock. I'm disgusted with Hudson Valley VW they need a paramount employee training in customer service and inventory management. Worse dealership I've ever been to. My first encounter was with the Sales Manager who does not seem to know customer service, rushing me with the car he was showing me and was not a people person. Then I came back to speak with an actual sales associate who was nice but then did nothing to actually try to close the sale. I have not come back there and then out of the blue yesterday I received a call from the store manager who yelled at me then tried to argue with me that he gave me good service. The general manager was short and rude. When we went to look at a car that they told me they had on the lot an hour before showing up we got the third degree on who told them this. They eventually showed us the car. This probably has to be the worst ran Volkswagen dealership, if you are looking to buy one go to the Danbury dealership. The Danbury dealership was very nice and helpful. Asked the general manager if they get a lot of people from the Hudson valley and he laughed and said yes. Very knowledgeable sales people. I was in search of a Golf R for about a month, specifically I wanted a blue or red R with DSG. This was a hard find in my area, in fact most dealers just had manual. A DSG model up here even had a waiting list at a few dealers north my of location (as in multiple people thinking of purchasing). The vast majority of my down payment was a trade, bad bargaining position for me. Especially since it was a car I loved and simply needed to trade due to running out of the factory warranty (I don't drive cars out of warranty if I can help it). A few dealerships I visited played games right off the bat and a few even offered very low trade in value for my car and no budge on the msrp. I considered driving south or west from this location to find a better deal but did not want the hassle. They had one Golf R, my luck it met my desired specifications. The deal they made with me was within the outer edge of fair although considering the market conditions in the area it was a good deal. My Sales person was exceptionally knowledgeable concerning the Golf R. I was treated with respect throughout the transaction. I want to highlight this because at other dealerships throughout the tri-state area I was at times not during this car search and previous one. I plan to use these folks for my service schedule. However, when its time to buy again it is likely I will have to search hard and may not end up at this dealership. The reason is that buying from dealer stock will always give you the best possible chance at even a small discount off MSRP and I am particular on color and needing an auto trans. read more

I recently came to this dealer never had coming to it before. I called and was fit in the same day to have my car serviced. Was precise on there timing taking my car and receiving it back as well. Same experience when I came back to have my car serviced and repaired. I read a lot of the bad yelp reviews and feel that does not explain this dealership at all. I would give them 10+stars if I could. I was treated with the upmost respect and professionalism I have ever received at a VW dealership. While I am here in New York coming all the way from California, I would highly recommend this dealership and also come back for future service and repairs. Three strikes earn you 1 star, unfortunately. They truly deserve 0 stars. Don't fall for the other reviews. In late February my husband and I were in market to buy a used vehicle. We were specifically looking for another Jetta. We came across the Hudson Valley VW page and found a Jetta we thought would be a good fit for our family and made an appointment to look at it. We arrived to the dealership on time and went to the counter stating we had an appointment with an employee to look at the Jetta. At this time we were told there was no such employee at this location nor did they know we were coming. We waited 20 minutes for a salesman to come out and assist in our search. After waiting, the salesman came out to help us find a Jetta. We were told that the one we were looking at online and had specifically gone for had already sold. He then led us to another Jetta that was a bit older but with less mileage. We went out and attempted to start the car, but it struggled to even start. At this time we expressed we would only feel comfortable buying a used car if our mechanic looked at it first. He told us that we were not allowed to leave with the car to have it checked, and that the mechanics at VW had already looked at it. This made us extremely uncomfortable and we left without purchasing at this location. Fast forward we brought the car in for a recall we had received in the mail and to check for a rattle noise. My husband dropped the car off the night prior to the appointment so it could be there first thing in the morning. At 4 PM, he called to check on the status of the vehicle. They stated it had not been brought in at that time, and would be in shortly. At 4:45 PM we received a call the car was done. When we went to pick up, we were surprised with a $103 bill. They fixed the belly pan which was missing some bolts (which they blammed on whoever did the last oil change which may have been the dealer we bought it from). I was confused as there was no asking if we wanted work done, or mention of it when we were called. So, I went in to ask the advisor about the invoice. The woman to the right of the desk had an awful attitude, as I asked about the work preformed. I expressed that I was disappointed that we were surprised by this bill as she continued to state that she had already given a discount. She stated that I had only brought the car in for this reason (the rattle), which is false (I have the paperwork for the recall that we received in the mail) and treated me with absolute disrespect. If they told us when we called for the appointment that the recall had already been done we would have never brought the car in. When I asked to speak with a manager, she stated she was the boss there. Eventually, she went and got a sales manager who was extremely polite but not really in a position to help. I am disgusted and disappointed by the way Hudson Valley VW does business and treats customers. Never have I been spoken to in such a way. By the way the rattle on my warrantied car is still there, even after the $103. Run, don't walk as far as you can from Hudson Valley VW. read more

We bought a used car here last year and it has proven to be the worst car buying decision of our lives! The car has brought us nothing but problems since it left the lot, leaving us broken down on the side of the road many times and needing to go into the garage every couple of months for extensive work to keep it running. During the one year we owned this vehicle, it had to be in the shop 7 times costing us thousands of extra dollars! Looking back, the whole sales process was also extremely sketchy. We were only allowed to test drive the vehicle on a small loop of road with the salesperson in the vehicle the entire time (this was pre-COVID). The salesperson (Fran) became agitated when we asked to drive it on the highway to see how it drives there (in retrospect, he was clearly trying to hide something!). We were told the Jeep came with both hard and soft tops which is what we were specifically looking for. But, we were not allowed to remove the hard top to test out the soft top. We were told to "trust" that the soft top was there because this Jeep came from someone that the salesperson knew. Well, after we got the Jeep home, sure enough, there was no soft top there so we had to go buy the pieces associated with the soft top - again, costing us more money than originally planned. We contacted the dealership about these problems after the purchase of the vehicle, however, we were met with denials and aggression. These are definitely not people you want to do business with. We were truly sold a lemon and fed a bunch of lies in this car sale! Save yourself a lot of pain and go somewhere else!! read more

I would like to amend my previous review of this dealership from the service, to parts, to sales departments. My previous negative experiences have all been completely forgotten as something has changed at Hudson Valley VW, to really make this place exceptional. Service Dept: While moving back to NY from California, my 2011 GTI broke down in Ohio. The VW dealership out there had the car for 4 days and were recommending major surgery on the car, to the tune of a few thousand dollars. That diagnosis did not sit well with me and I towed the car back to NY on the back of a U-Haul. I dropped the car off Thursday Night after business hours, expecting to be without my car for days if not weeks. The next morning I received a call from the Service Manager around 10am that the car was finished and ready to be picked up. Their technicians expertise diagnosed the issue down to a faulty sensor for a few hundred dollars, and I in fact did not need the major repair as recommended by the Ohio VW dealership. Fantastic service and really excellent customer support. Sales: A few weeks after the GTI repair, I decided to trade in my car and pick up a diesel Golf Sportwagen. I had the pleasure of dealing with Fran Fuchs in sales, and he really exceeded my expectations. He listened to what I was asking for, accommodated my requests completely, always followed up on outstanding items, and never dropped the ball on anything. We bought a Certified Pre-owned 2013 Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid with 11,000 miles from Fran Fuchs at Hudson Valley Volkswagen. He told us the car had had a 112 point inspection/certification on it. We really liked the car for the next 40,000 miles. Well, it certainly let us down. How could they write this and sell the car to us when THEY KNEW there was a defect and a recall had been issued? I called Fran to see if VW would share part of the expense since they knowingly sold us a defective vehicle. Fran told me to call corporate. They refused. Sadly my now defunct Jetta did not get the right service...and I do feel as though because I am female the servicemeister at HVVW wanted to blame me....when it was their techs who failed to properly install an oil filter gasket. Pan forward a few days...oil light on...call to HVVW----"drive it over...we'll take care of that". With a little one in the car and me not thinking they MIGHT be wrong...I headed there for the 20 minute ride. Two hours later on the back of a flatbed my doomed Jetta slid into their serivec department. And the blame game began.... This happened four and a half years ago...I never drove that Jetta again, haggled with VW for some time to make right on their error. I called this morning to inquire about a GTI that is listed for sale, and confirmed that it was still available. I explained that I was driving 2 HOURS EACH WAY IN TRAFFIC from CT, and TAKING ONE OF MY FEW REMAINING VACATION DAYS, and asked if they could hold it for a couple hours. Got to the dealer, went through all the motions of getting my trade-in appraised, even took the thing for the test drive. Everything's going great! I think I'll put a deposit down. Go to grab a coffee before I pull out the trusty old credit card, and am greeted with the question "How do you feel about red? I feel terrible, but the car you came here for is actually sold". Not meaning in the last couple of hours since I called, no. This car has BEEN sold. I did not take one of my few remaining vacation days, and drive 4 hours round trip for a bright red GTI, I am not interested in a bright red GTI (sounds crazy, but that's the reason I asked about the grey one). After calculating my vacation day that was unnecessarily burned, my time wasted (roughly 6 hours total), gas, etc, Hudson Valley Volkswagen cost me $500. How do they make this right? By trying to up-sell me on a more expensive model, and coming down on the price enough to reduce the monthly payment $5 off ticket price. Not a penny more, after that incredible mess of an unorganized screw up. Wouldn't want to come out of the royal screw up without milking me for a nice profit, or god forbid LOSE MONEY. Could you even imagine losing a few bucks to make things right with a potential lifelong customer to admit you just cost him a day of his life, and money? To not even know which cars you have available for sale. Even KNOWING the potential buyer is traveling from out of state and taking a day off from work. The car lights flashed and then stalled. I tried again, the lights flashed and check engine light went on. On the drive home the car acted like it was revving and then braking. I stopped at the dealership despite no appointment. How they figured out what was wrong was beyond me. I had to leave the car. Courtesy driver took me home. It took two days but they kept me advised of the progress. When it was completed, they picked me up to get it. The person I was in contact with was Fran. Overall he was pleasant on the phone. I'm an out of state buyer and was looking for a rare car they have and they knew it was rare. I knew I was going to be paying more than the car was worth and had come to terms with that. The problem I have was when I originally contacted them about the vehicle the price was 2k lower than the price they put on the contract they sent me. When I asked about it they said it was mispriced by the main office and that they didn't even think I'd contacted them until after the price increase. I had the original email I'd sent but they refused to honor that price. I'd call that pretty shady. read more

I bought a preowned 2011 Jetta 3 months ago. I just brought it to Palisades VW for an oil change and was informed that all 4 of my tires are dry rotted, one tire does not match and a rear tire is on backwards. He also explained to me that a certified preowned VW should have 4 matching tires and recommended that I refer back to Hudson Valley VW to resolve these issues. A few days later I bring my car back to Hudson Valley VW for them to inspect the issues. They explained to me that the non-matching tire was MY doing because they are very meticulous when they insect their cars. They offered to "split" the cost of 4 new tires with me (how much profit do you think they make on selling 4 new tires at half the cost?). I asked to see all documentation on how the vehicle became a CERTIFIED preowned VW and his response was that the person who has that information was not in today (convenient?). I have e-mailed them pictures of the first day I got the car showing the tires do not match and am still waiting on a response...... Now back to that "meticulous" inspection.... The day I picked up my car I noticed it had locking lug-nuts but no key. They apologized and replaced the lug-nuts. Two days later my car began to smell of smoke (i realized they had hidden that this was a smokers car). When they called to see if I was satisfied with my purchase I explained my concerns and they said the service department would call me to set up an appointment regarding replacing the cabin air filter. I never heard from service but I did get 2 emails and 3 other phone calls asking me to please fill out their survey and then to redo my survey so they get a better score. I have also noticed my dip sticks "clamp" pieces are broken. Long story short, I feel extremely very taken advantage of, the quality of service is less then terrible and all they care about are surveys. They give VW a bad name. read more

BEWARE! Do not use this dealership. Very disappointed with the lack of communication and customer service at this VW dealership. Most recently, brought our car in on a Friday, were told the parts were being ordered and car can be picked up on Tuesday, husband checked in throughout day regarding what time car can be picked up, we were told before 4pm. We received a call at 330 that they ordered the wrong part and car would not be ready for the next two days. 30 minutes before we believed we could pick up the car. Super unprofessional and leaves us with no way of getting to our jobs. When I asked to speak to manager, I got Shannon, who did not take any accountability for the error and lack of professionalism and was deflecting it on the fact that they tried to call my husband on Friday but his voicemail was full and that we needed a more expensive repair still. What does this have to do with the fact that we were not told until 30 mins prior to pick up, after the 4 days it had been there, that our car would not be ready?!?!? Shannon responded very "matter of fact" and did not display any type of accountability or alternative accommodation that could be made, such as a loner car, aside from telling us that we can pick up our car if we want but we are liable for what may happen while driving. Also have been quoted different prices for the same repair at this dealership. Putting in complaint with VW corporate and better business bureau. Choose a different dealership for repairs!! read more

Wow, I just can't say how impressed I am with this dealership. This was the 4th new car I have purchased in my life and by far the smoothest and most pleasant experience. My sales person, Eric H was really phenomenal to work with. I had test driven the car closer to where I live, but once we knew we wanted the Cross Sport I reached out to a bunch of dealerships in the area to find the best deal. Hudson gave me the best price and located the exact vehicle I was looking for. Our preference was to minimize in-person contact due to the pandemic. This was no problem at all for the dealership (some would not engage with me over email). The entire transaction was completed via email or phone, I think we had one document to sign when we picked up the car which was out front and ready to go when we arrived. read more

This is a great dealership...I purchased my car in October of 2017..I had some financial issues that I had to resolve before finally buying my car...I went in September 2017 and put a deposit down..once a week the salesperson would call to see where I was at for my situation...I felt bad.,but in all I had a great experience. Bought a car here from out of state looking online In March 2021. I was assured when I called that being from Massachusetts would not be an issue. Couldn't have been further from the truth. After more than a dozen phone calls to get my car registered and a month a half I still don't have the official registration. i got the company they outsource their registering to to email the registration two weeks ago. This week the dealership is calling me asking for $100 to send the registration. When I called them back the dealer has no idea about any of it but needs the $100. Just called the dealership to speak to the GM and their mailbox is full. Can't even leave a message. Don't buy from this dealership- awful! read more

Bought a certified preowned from them in September. It was a beautiful 2016 Jetta GLI. Soon after I got the car it all went down hill. I noticed clutch and electrical problems immediately. I also noticed the car had aftermarket modifications and was marketed as a certified pre owned. I brought it back to the dealer for the problems. They said they could not replicate the concerns with the clutch. Today the clutch slipped all the way through third gear 1,400 miles after I bought the car. 26k on it from the first owner. I called Hudson Valley VW and was told by the service manager Matt Sansone I bought the car with modifications and a certified preowned even under the original factory warranty like this one will not be covered. I called corporate and they said it is the dealerships decision and skirted around the fact the car was modified and yet certified by vw. Further, when I originally bought the car and realized it was modified I was reassured that they where a mod friendly dealership. I even brought the car back to be put back to stock at the same time as the clutch problems and they said they would put it back to stock but there was no need at this dealership. That they where only concerned with heavily modified vw's. So here I stand with a new car from Hudson Valley VW in one hand and a huge bill from a shop in the other. I am normally pretty tough when it comes to car repairs/buying. There is also so much hassle with negotiating and waiting. We had Dave help us out and give us a great price. Plus the certified pre-owned warranty with Volkswagon was the best we could find. A few months after our purchase the check engine light went on. At first I was furious because it was a somewhat new car. Luckily it was just the gas cap needing to be replaced. Jason at the repairs/service department took care of us and went above and beyond what he needed to do. He noticed that my shocks could be replaced under the warranty and he took care of them during the same time as my gas cap (saving me another deposit). All in all, I have experienced nothing but the best service from these guys and I look forward to purchasing another Volkswagon from them down the line. read more
