I usually cut my son's hair but we had grown a mullet and I didn't want to mess it up, especially since my son has really dark, stubborn Asian hair - it'd be easy to find the imperfections. The lady who cut his hair was fast (took probably 20 min total). She knew exactly what kind of cut I wanted (2 block hair cut). And because his hair was so long in the back, she double checked before cutting that I wanted to cut it off (much appreciated!). My son's hair was short on the top so she didn't cit length but did blend it (see pics). The place itself was clean and spacious. The cut itself was $45 without a wash, which is a couple dollars cheaper than other places I was looking up. I'd come here again.

Before the haircut, I clearly explained that I had just gotten my hair cut at another salon two…read moredays earlier and that I wasn't looking for a completely new haircut--I only wanted some adjustments to achieve the style shown in the photos of me before. I specifically asked if the stylist understood the issue and knew what needed to be done, and I was assured that they did. Unfortunately, once the haircut started, there was no communication about how much hair would be removed. The very first cut on the sides was much shorter than I expected, and at that point there was no way to undo it. If the stylist had explained their approach or confirmed the length with me first, I would have had the opportunity to say that it wasn't what I wanted. What disappointed me most wasn't just the final result--it was the lack of communication. When a customer brings reference photos and asks questions beforehand, I expect the stylist to explain the plan and make sure we're aligned before making irreversible changes. I left feeling that my concerns and the reference photos were not really taken into account. I hope the salon can improve communication with customers in the future so others don't have the same experience.

He is precise and thorough and pays attention to detail to make sure each cut is perfect and balanced. He truly is a master at his craft. He gave me the most perfect cut - bouncy layers, full of volume, face framing bangs! Also the grow out process was so nice, it still looked good like a few months later and kept looking better because of how he cut it. He takes his time to make sure everything is perfect and it was! Let me tell you that this place was the MOST I've ever paid for hair coloring and balayage in my life and I've gone to Master hair colorists at luxury salons in the bay area too. Did the prices for hair products increase with Trump too??!? Sheesh. They were nice, talked me through the right shade for the balayage according to my skin tone and then she proceeded to take out a calculator to show me the cost. I was pretty shocked to see the cost, but I already made arrangements to get my hair colored that day so I begrudgingly agreed to proceed. Maybe I should have negotiated or asked if that total included tip? My hair is medium length and layered and the ash blonde/brown came out really nice, but I am still kicking myself for paying this much. I would have expected a nice head massage, complimentary tea or something for paying this much with a balayage, but it was a professional balayage with basic service/experience.

The owners do the hair and seamlessly trade off to help one another out. I like the focus to just be about my hair and this salon does that and does it well. Situation: Color Correction *see photos*…read more Background: Bad balayage at another at Stilo Salon, by the owner no less, and turned out nowhere near the inspiration photos I brought in. I was hoping for beige highlights and got bright blonde. I asked for a refund and was only offered a "fix it at no cost". I declined. Intervention: Reached out to Vance who did my hair in the past. Don't ask me why I just didn't come back. Vance was able to see me pretty quick and did an AMAZING job!! He gave me beige highlights and darkened the base which I just love. I'm tanned skin so the blonde highlights was not flattering. Evaluation: I am forever grateful for Vance. He is very skilled at his craft. The result was exactly what I was hoping for from the very beginning when I stepped into the other salon. Note to self....i will never see any other stylist.
