I stopped by this Huey's location with a friend I was visiting in Olive Branch over the weekend, and it delivered on the Mid-South flavor and pizzazz that I've come to associate with the Huey's brand. When we arrived, we were promptly greeted and seated at a spacious booth in the front of the restaurant, which gave us a great vantage point to observe the bar and dining room. Service afterwards was a bit slow at times, but it was easy for me to overlook that considering the restaurant was pretty crowded, the servers were extremely friendly and hospitable, and the food was worth the wait. I ordered the tuna steak salad with a side of onion rings, and my friend ordered the catfish basket--one of his favorite menu items. The food was solid, and we both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The tuna steak salad was a generous portion size, loaded with fresh vegetables, and the tuna steak itself was well-seasoned. The oil and vinegar I used to dress the salad added just enough acid and fat to round out the dish, and the side of onion rings were plump and flavorful and a nice complement to the meal. In terms of the ambience, the restaurant's clientele was diverse and the restaurant is tastefully decorated with local touches: posters, art, and memorabilia from the Memphis Metropolitan Area. There was also an interactive graffiti wall near our table for anyone interested in sharing haikus, doodles, witty jokes, or simple declarations of love. The main thing missing from this newer location is the iconic ceiling of toothpicks, resulting from years and years of customers shooting toothpicks through a straw into the ceiling. I could not be more excited for a place opening than I am for the Huey's here in beautiful Olive Branch MS! You see, my love for Huey's began probably 30 years ago. Back in the old location in the Apple Tree Center on Mt. Moriah. That one is long gone now. We have had so many good times at Huey's it's hard to remember all of them. Hell, I've even rang in the New Year at a Huey's. It's also one of the only places that gets a non-veto word from anyone in my family. If I say "we're headed to Huey's" all I get from the family is "which one". That's a rare thing with four daughters! This place is brand new and I came on the third day for lunch. It was packed, I sat at the bar and braced for what I figured was a long wait time with just ok food being just recently opened. I WAS WRONG! I got my food fast, it was fresh, and tasted just like every other meal at a Huey's. Bravo! Big win for Olive Branch! I am stoked to now have one so close to my house! Very disappointed in this place. I good a take out order in person and they still charged a $2 fee but if I would have sat down and ordered then ask for a togo box I wouldn't have. For the love of God, if you want Huey's, just go to Memphis. This place lacks the quintessential basics of professionalism--they pick favorites amongst their employees, and those "favorites" make a habit out of bullying and harassing their coworkers because they don't fear consequences. To top it all off, the mistreated employees don't feel like they can speak up about it because they already know whose side management will take. Well, I'm not afraid to stand up for them, and neither should they. I've literally witnessed it with my own eyes with one of their current employees named Zoey. Towards the end of when I was still going to this location, I specifically went on the days she wasn't working because of how horrendous she is to EVERYONE, except management of course. I have spoken to numerous employees and they all agree that she's a problem, yet nothing has been done to resolve it? To top it all off, we haven't even discussed the below-par food, sanitation, and atmosphere found at this location. I refuse to give a single word of praise to this establishment until things are seriously dealt with. As I previously stated: if you love Huey's so much, make the 20 minute drive to Midtown--you might actually be able to stomach your food there, knowing that ethics will never be an issue. Edit: Just went and read all of the other reviews and I was very troubled to see that A) I'm not the first to complain openly about this specific employee, which depressingly confirms my previous points, and B) Management suspiciously seems to only respond to generally positive reviews. I have been going to Huey's since they opened. I am sad to say that I don't know if I will go back! I know prices have gone up every where and I get it. Since prices have gone up, I have to be more selective on where I go to make sure I get my money's worth and that the quality of the food is worth paying for. I don't mind paying $2.00 or more dollars for a Huey burger than I am used to, but Hueys could have left the size of the burger the same! The burger should at least be the same size as the bun! Popped in for an early dinner @545pm or so, good timing on our part because while there weren't many people there when we got there, it sure did start to fill up!! But even though it got pretty full service was quick and friendly, honestly quicker than I expected it to be with how busy it got. 1 member of party got regular Huey burger and fries, 1 member of our party got Philly cheese steak, and I got the Bluez 57 and onion rings. There were "only" 4 onion rings in the order however they were massive. Rings could have used some more seasoning in the batter but were good. The Bluez 57 had a tasty combo of flavors (Heinz 57, bleu cheese, onion strings) but same as the onion rings - the burger patty wasn't very seasoned, if at all. I'm so disappointed. I loved this Hueys. I just got the worst food from here. They stopped having the steak sandwich so I got the Thai chicken salad. They packed it between two hot orders so my lettuce was wilted and disgusting plus the dressing was different. I ended up throwing it away. The mushrooms were overcooked and they sent ranch instead of horseradish sauce. The burger was way overcooked and the fries were disgusting too. We couldn't eat any of it.
