I wish I could give less than one star. The short of it: After nearly three weeks and three home inspections, Hugh Turner informed us that they would not tent our 3/2 home. Their reason was because of a few ferns and a temporary trellis. The full story: An inspector from Hugh Turner showed up exactly when they were scheduled to and was very professional and courteous. We walked the property and spoke about all of the preparations needed to tent, including the clearing of a small alley that is overgrown with ferns and the need to detach a trellis from the wall of our house. He took measurements and went on his way. After a week with no response, we called their office to find out about the quote. They didn't know who was at our house to inspect, and they would look into it. The next day the same employee showed up at the house and informed us they had lost his measurements. He remeasured the property and left. Another weekend passes and Monday brings a new employee to our door to measure the property, again. He promises a quote within 24 hours and measures our property for the third time. The following day, we receive a message saying they won't tent because of ferns and a trellis. I called the office to discuss, and they will not discuss the property any further. When I remind the employee on the phone that the trellis and ferns will be removed before tenting, she replies that they can't tent with the foliage and trellis in place. We go in circles of "we will remove the foiliage and trellis" with the response something to the effect of "we can't do it with the foliage and trellis in place". After two trips around this nonsensical merry go round, I hung up. Save yourself the time, effort, and money. Call anyone else. read more

Mark took the time to explain the best solution to an ongoing problem I've been having with ants. Even with professional treatment chemicals I purchased, I was unable to eradicate the ants on my own. Hugh Turner Pest Control treated the areas and eliminated my ant problem for a very reasonable price with a reduced price for a follow up visit if it's necessary. I should have called them earlier but I was afraid it would cost too much and also I had a bad experience with another company who wanted to charge too much for things I didn't need. Mark spent a lot of time discussing the solution in detail (I'm a single female homeowner and also work as an engineer so I appreciate the information). He also looked in detail at my home's previous termite problems (which aren't active currently) and gave me options on how to handle the possibility of the termites returning in the future. These people were awesome. Everything was A+ quality. They helped me figure out my problem, got rid of it, and kept me informed on how to prevent anything from coming back and what to do if it did. Very thorough and professional. But not only were they good at the job, they had fantastic service. The woman working in the office scheduling the appointments was phenomenal. She worked very hard to find a good time for me, including the follow-up appointments. And she was very friendly, that is quite valuable there. And she constantly stayed in touch to make sure appointments were good and kept me updated on the serviceman. Along with the customer service, the worker that came to my apartment was timely. He actually would be a bit early! Never late! And he had to come out three times. Wow! I can't say how much I appreciated that. And when he was here, he did not rush and answered all my questions. He was very friendly and personable as well. Truth be told, these people felt like they were friends helping out friends rather than "this is just a job to make money" mentality. I've been using Hugh Turner for pest control for years. They come by monthly to spray the premises and have virtually eliminated our insect problems. But I came back from a recent vacation and apparently some bedbugs hitchhiked inside my luggage and infested my bedroom. According to their website, the technician was supposed to give me a list of preparation instructions to be followed explicitly prior to bedbug treatment. I never received them so a few days before my treatment I called the office. I was told the only preparation instructions necessary was to pull all furniture away from the walls. But when the technician arrived, he gave me a litany of things I needed to do including removing just about everything from our filled up closets, removing the contents of our drawers and removing our king size mattress and box springs from the bed frame!! Basically, we need to clean everything out as if we're moving! If I did everything on his list PROPERLY it would have taken at least 1-2 days, giving us no choice but to reschedule. So until they come next time, I'll be getting bitten again each night. I am beyond pissed off!! read more

A few months ago, I hired Hugh Turner Pest Control to spray for ants in my condo since my realtor recommended the company. I was charged $150 for 2 visits. Mark, the technician, told me that by paying the $150, it would only be $75 for any sort of bug spraying after that. I called last week for Mark to spray for cockroaches. I was told by the woman who answered the phone that it would be $150. When I questioned the charge, she told me that there would an up-charge no matter what. I said I was very upset because I already paid the up-charge. She said Mark would call me. It's been a week and I have not heard from Mark. I have since hired a much more reputable company. Please beware of the bait and switch. Do not pay this initial up-charge without knowing you will be charged over and over again. This company is not worth any stars. I will notify my realtor and hope that she does not recommend them in the future. read more

I moved to Ft Lauderdale a year ago and for the first time live in a condo. A couple months ago I noticed small roaches, after a couple weeks they were getting worse. So I found Hugh Turner in yelp. The technician was professional and knowledgeable about my situation and treated my condo. He said it would take a couple days to see dead roaches but the next day they started becoming visible. He comes back next week for a follow up appointment for second treatment. I haven't seen a roach for almost 2 weeks. The cost was very reasonable to me as well. read more

They were recommended to us by an attorney friend who does a ton of real estate work. We had a termite contract with a national company and they would have had to charge a small amount of money for tenting so...they kept saying we didn't have termites! Never once did they ever look in our three crawl spaces even though we had some bore holes. Called Hugh Turner who sent an excellent worker who physically went into the crawl spaces and came out with live termites, forcing the national company to tent. We have since used them for whitefly control and no more whiteflies. Oh, and their prices are extremely reasonable and they don't try to up sell. read more
