Tonight my boyfriend and I really wanted Sushi we usually go to Kumori but decided we'd try something new...we googled and there was Hugo's so we said let's just try it! Great food! Sushi is always fresh and so far everything we've had on the menu has been nothing but great! Service is good. They sometimes forget things and we have to ask a couple of times before we get the items we requested. Otherwise, the atmosphere is amazing and anytime we are on that side of town we stop by. We moved from Austin and have been to a ton of sushi places in San Antonio honestly this is one of the best just based on freshness flavor and great service. Inside decor is a little bare but they are very new. I can see this place blowing up. Highly recommend. Will be our little hide away sushi spot. read more

Food and service is typically great until today. There was a miscommunication when ordering and when brought to the managers attention he became very defiant and swore that the communication was on our end. At which point my husband stated we would not be paying for something we did not order. I am a firm believer in the customer IS NOT always right but instead of getting to the bottom of the miscommunication the manager gave off a very ugly attitude and his actions throughout the rest of meal was very unprofessional. At one point he walks to the table next to us and offers them the food at no charge to them because "it was ordered and not wanted." As we were paying it was brought to his attention that his service was extremely malicious and instead of taking accountability for the behavior AFTER the initial miscommunication he then proceeded to blame us for the miscommunication and his inability to do HIS job. Needless to say there was no end result and even during conversation we were told we would not be welcomed back which is fine because we had no plan to come back to such low class behavior, especially when no one was being belligerent or rude but him until he was rude to us. I think it's best to mention we paid for the meal in total and tipped our initial waitress, with the exception of the food we did not order. read more

Very solid sushi place. Went on a Monday lunch and it was super quiet. Nice clean tables. Super friendly waiter made great recommendations. They have good special rolls. I recommend the R.E.D. Just then, my check engine light turned on, gauges showed hot, so I pulled into this shopping center parking lot to call a tow truck as my water pump went out. We saw this place we never heard of in this shopping center called Hugo's and decided to give it a try. Wow! What a great coincidence to have my truck breakdown right in front of this restaurant! The menu offered a variety of Asian cuisine from various Asian countries. My wife got a sushi roll (was a giant roll) and I got the sesame chicken plate. I asked the waiter if they could make my sesame chicken spicy, and he nodded a very firm assurance that that was not a problem at all. Everything was perfect. From the flavor, to the amount of food; everything was absolutely perfect. What looks like a small little spot very hidden is actually a gem with lots of customers inside that know exactly the kind of gem this restaurant is.
