Do not store any boxes put everything in plastic bins. The unit will leak and your stuff will get wet. Seal everything tight avoid outdoor friends (bugs) making a home in your stuff. Now....If you close out write a letter and send it certified mail to ensure they get it. I called beginning of the month for Jan 2022 to inform them of my intentions to vacant the unit. The lady I spoke with advised that was fine and if I had a credit on my account (which I did for military) it will be refunded by check and mailed within 15 days. Jan 28th I called again to advise it will be all cleaned and swept out per policy at the end of the month. The lady I spoke with confirmed my address to mail the check to and stated ok. Jan 31st I called to confirm she has my unit closed out and done. Welp, Feb 1st I was charged for the unit. Feb 5th my account was closed. Feb 28th I got a refund check for $54.53 (well my credit was on the account for $25.00 already and the monthly fee was $88.00). This math isn't mathing right....... Here we are March 25, finally get a hold of someone and she asked who did you talk to....mmm I don't know person sound older though. And I really didn't think I need to check and balance with a storage facility, but Ok. So she explains my refund is minus the 15days of not given written notice. Unit is 88.00 per month (2.93 per day) 2.93 x 15 days= $44.00 88.00 - 44.00 = $44.00 refund I ALREADY HAD A $25.00 CREDIT ON MY ACCOUNT FOR WHEN I OPENED THE UNIT WITH THEM.. $54.53 - $44.00 = $10.53 $25.00 - $10.53= $14.47 REFUND MISSING!! Moral of the story they will take your money!

Anyway, I rented a unit here just over a year ago to facilitate a move. The facility was convenient for me and not over priced. Other positives: - Facility is clean and in decent shape. - Office hours 7 days a week. There are a few minor negatives, but nothing serious: - They do not send you a bill unless you miss a payment - and then they add a late fee. - As of November 2017, they are increasing rates by about 30%, but they were maybe a little low before. I plan to be out before the increase takes effect. The staff is reasonably friendly and helpful, but not overly personable. All in all, I've seen far worse storage places and much more expensive ones too. I'm happy with the deal I got.

He made sure I knew what the process was and made things so clear. He was open to me asking any questions, and he did it all with a smile. Even though it was a mask on, lol, I could tell it was a smile behind that mask!! When his team came out to move us, and it was no little job, they were so nice, understanding of what our needs were, and they were very careful with all of our belongings. If you need to rent any kind of equipment, this is the place to go. They have everything you could…read moreneed, from tillers to sump pumps to ladders to pressure washers and much, much more. They test any equipment before they send it home with you, so you don't have to get all the way home only to find it's not working properly. They'll give you detailed instructions on how to work whatever you're renting as well, which has proved very helpful. They have a great website so you can look up all the tools before you go. Prices are very, very reasonable. But perhaps the biggest reason you should choose Rental Works over any of the other rental places in town is how incredible their customer service is. The gentlemen there will treat you right. I've been using them for a couple of years and every employee I've ever interacted with has been helpful, polite, and gone out of their way to make me happy. Once, I had to rent a sump pump in the middle of a bad winter storm. It was so icy I couldn't bring it back the next day and they didn't even charge me a late fee. Needless to say, I couldn't be a happier customer.

Rental Works saved the day for me. I had lost the keys to my storage lockers in our condo building…read morein downtown Richmond. Mind you, I have four separate storage cages with four different padlocks for them. I tried cutting the locks off with a small hacksaw with no luck. Next I tried a small bolt cutter borrowed from a neighbor... nada! I then "yelped" "tool rental" and up popped Rental Works conveniently located on W Broad St just off I-64W. Called them, they answered immediately (this is Saturday morning mind you), and found they had a heavy duty bolt cutter with 36 inch handles. They promised to hold it for me so I zipped out to their Location from downtown in less than 15 minutes. They had the bolt cutter sitting on the counter waiting for me. I took the minimum rental time of half a day (4 hours) for all of $12.00, drove home, easily cut the locks off and drove back to Rental Works where they actually met me in the parking lot with my receipt, a hearty congrats on getting the job done and sent me in my way. A long story I know...BUT I'm not sure I've ever had such great service from such knowledgeable and friendly guys. Almost wish I had more locks to cut off. Rental Works is definitely my "go to" tool rental" place from now on.

So loyalty means nothing to Advantage Self storage, not even enough to be polite to a customer of 10 years. Would not recommend. I am truly disappointed and dissatisfied with their service.
