Visited HuHot for the first time in April. I was surprised at how good my bowl turned out. We are supposed to build our own bowl, selecting sauces, veggies and protein-- so I thought it would be likely that mine wouldn't be too good but I was wrong. I even got up to build a second bowl. Definitely come hungry and read instructions on how to properly build your bowl, you'll be impressed at how good it turns out. I will say, if you have allergies to anything in the stations, know that the cooks go around with their spatulas to cook everyone's food. So if someone else got shellfish and you're allergic to it, your food will get traces of it. The cooking area is clean but not ideal for people with severe food allergies. Went to wash my hands before I ate and both soap disoensers were out of soap. Stopped our server and told her. She said she will tell them... we sat there for about hour and ate. Having to eat Gluten Free it is hard to Find a good place to eat. I was given a card for food allergies and everything on their menu was listed telling all ingredients. At the grill I let them know that I am GF and before they put my food on the grill they completely cleaned and setup guards around my food to stop contamination from other people's food. While traveling, I had a taste for some Mongolian beef, didn't have a clue where to get some from so I looked up Mongolian beef on yelp, and this restaurant showed up.. Drove to this location and while in the parking lot decided to read the menu.(I probably should've did that first.) I really wanted to go back to my hotel, so I was pleasantly surprised to find out even though this is a stirfry grill location they do offer to go options. it's not by weight you do get one large bowl to fill up with any protein, vegetable or sauce. They grill it box it up and you get a side of rice. The service is really not a factor. You don't really deal with anyone when you're getting the to go option, you can tip your griller if you want the food cooked well done or if you have a special request or if you just want to give them a tip like I did coming from Vegas we tip everyone. It's a very family atmosphere if I'm ever in South Dakota again I would definitely go back time and time again! read more

Yesterday night was my first time at HuHot, there are many locations out here in the Midwest. Being from Cali, Ive never heard of HuHot. The concepts is quite simple: 1. Take a bowl and choose your selection of noodles, meats and veggies. 2. Create your own sauce to top it off or choose from their pre made sauces. 3. Hand your selections to a grill warrior and they cook it in front of you. I choose thick Chinese noodles, crab, mussels, beef, chicken, bell peppers, spinach, chives, mushrooms, cucumbers, broccoli, etc. I was also offered a bowl of white rice to go with my creation. I went back again for round 2. I would recommend getting 2 bowl at the creation station. One bowl for the noodles and one bowl for your meat and veggies. I loaded my 1 bowl up so much things were falling off! Shout out to Taylor who took care of my husband and I. She was very sweet and came back to check up on us and asked if we wanted our drinks refilled. This place gives you pretty much what you expect from AYCE Chinese restaurant in a middle of nowhere. It was my birthday and my coworkers were very nice to take me out for lunch. This place is all you can eat for $12 (lunch) and $16 (dinner). I could only eat small 1.5 bowls, so definitely not worth it at least for me. The appetizer sampler (not included in AYCE) was not good at all. The seafood selection was very limited (only fake crab and frozen tilapia). Sauce selections were huge but almost overwhelming. The restaurant itself did not look clean. The service was nice by the waitress and the chefs tho. The company knows they would not do well at all in big cities, so they stick to locations in the middle of nowhere where people have no access to good Asian dishes and don't know any better. read more

This remains one of my favorite places to eat when I'm in Sioux Falls. I know it's pretty ho-hum as far as Mongolian BBQ goes, but I love the extensive selections they have here, from the noodles to the sauce. I have been to other similar restaurants and you are stuck with basically spaghetti noodles and different spiced teriyaki sauce. Hu Hot has 4 types of noodles (including zucchini noodles), several types of protein (including seafood and tofu), a whole banquette of vegetables, and another whole banquette of sauce, with the recipes for different flavors. If you have an allergy, they also do their level best to keep it away from other meals being cooked nearby. read more

Good food, Good price, You make the flavor This is an easy to get to restaurant as it is located in a line of stores 1 street off the interstate. There is plenty of parking. We were greeted as we entered the restaurant and seated in a booth. We chose to order the from the grill. They had gloves available at the bar where you choose your meat and extras. Then you move to the sauce bar. There are instructions on how to make certain flavors from the sauce. You take the entire bowl to the round grill where the chef cooks it up for you. I had three different bowls with three different sauces. It was excellent. The price was reasonable and the food was excellent. I highly recommend this if you want some delicious food. read more

It is good here but the only two problems was that there was no eggs here when other HuHot's had eggs, and my final thing is that the breaded chicken breasts weren't even fully cooked, most still looked like raw chicken and not cooked, and when an employee checked the nuggets, they cut only one and said it was good, when about half of the nuggets still looked like raw chicken, but other than that, good looking restaurant and good working staff and service, and many different foods and sauces(no eggs though) which means many different types of combinations and the ambiance looked great and felt like a place of china full of art and great decor. read more

Our server Catherine really needs to pay more attention multiple tables were seated and she took forever to get their drink orders, and we waited over 30 minutes for our check. Thankfully we were able to pay at the table because who knows how long it would have taken her to collect payment otherwise. Talking with her friends was a bigger priority than tending to our tables. We were passing through Sioux Falls and decided to eat some Chinese or oriental food and ran across HuHot so decided to try it. It was extremely good and we got seated within 5 minutes even though they were pretty busy for a Wednesday night. The food was great and the sauces are all good. The price is $14.99 for all you can eat. You pick your raw meat, vegetables and noodles. Then add sauces to make the food taste to your liking.i tried several combinations with many different sauces and they were all excellent. I just went here yesterday with two friends and I really enjoyed myself! I'd never been to a Huhot before but I looked at recipes to use online before I went and worked off of one when I got there. It was packed and a bit chaotic for a Monday at lunchtime, but I got my one bowl and only got it 3/4 full and got them to cook it. The experience was fun and the result was yummy thanks to their recipes you can steal from, but I hope if I come back that I'll show up when it's not cram full of people and their kids! read more

No teriyaki, Sriracha etc to the side or on individual tables and the buffet sauce section is a disaster. I'm accustomed to Mongolian restaurants where at least one employee is dedicated to keeping the line clean. At HuHot you may literally observe an entire meal period go by with zero attention paid to the line. Splatters everywhere, ingredients everywhere but where they belong etc - the place looks disgusting. Couple this with plenty of staff who hang around and bs instead of bringing drink refills and you get the picture. HuHot could be the perfect option for those of us that have weight loss surgery. You can pick to do 70% protein and 30% veggies and amazing flavored sauces that all stay within the guidelines of a healthy lifestyle. And there is pretty much nothing better warmed up the left over Mongolian BBQ. But they have a strict "no to go" box policy - and will not accept medical cards to offer any discount or child's price. The most frustrating things about this is that no where is this policy posted until you ask for a to go box- then they bring you a little card that tells you how "supportive" they are of your choice.. but they will still not allow you to take the rest home or be charged less. There are three main things that you need to know about what your HuHot experience will be like: 1. You are going to have a tasty meal. 2. You will eat too much. 3. You will have some pretty nasty smelling gas a few hours after leaving. If the second two on the list above are deal breakers for you, stay away, but if you like to eat a lot and can deal with the gas, a visit to HuHot is well worth it. HuHot is a Mongolian BBQ and as far as I'm aware, is much like any other Mongolian BBQ you may have been to. For those not familiar with this style of restaurant, it is basically a buffet style, build-your-own Asian meal. Instead of a typical buffet where you choose among different dishes, you are choosing ingredients that are all then grilled while you watch on a large communal grill in the middle of the restaurant. As you walk through the line, you select from different meat options (usually chicken, beef, pork, and fish) as well as noodles, veggies, and then top it off with their sauces and oils. Being a vegetarian, I can't comment on the meat options directly, but everything looks good and others I've gone with have had good things to say about them. That being said, HuHot is a great option for who abstain from eating meat as everything else is fair game. You can easily load up on noodles and veggies to build a substantial meal. They have a wide selection of sauces and oils ranging from mild to ungodly spicy. Be sure to add their recommended six spoonfuls of sauce/oil per bowl as things can turn out a bit dry without that much. Overall, service has been good. Buffet lines have been clean and well stocked and all ingredient options have been fresh. The grillers have always kept the lines moving smoothly. I don't think I've ever had to wait more than five minutes before my food has been ready. In the end, the beauty of HuHot is that unless you really dislike all Asian styles of food, anyone can go and get a meal they will enjoy because you get to select only the foods that you like. After eating here once earlier this week, my daughter and I came here for some time together. She has a very bad glutton allergy (celiacs). We always call ahead and check with a restaurant, but what is said over the phone is not always what is delivered. Not only do they have great customer service, great wait staff, and polite hosts, they also deliver on food allergies. They announce that there is a good allergy, relearn an area of the grill, then block off a large area to prevent food contamination. They also use new spatulas on the grill and place them on a sterile area until your food is served. Just a great experience and they made my daughter feel as special and important as she is to me. I go to the booth and the waitress tells me I can't sit there because of the car seat. So we all stand there for 10 seconds staring at each other.. until I so brilliantly ask if I can put the baby car seat on the seat in the booth. "Um Sure" .. great response.. and the rest of the time she had an attitude. After reading the other reviews, their must have been some changes, for we didn't receive nor notice any of the negativities that were stated! I did notice that sauces were changed up a bit, but not negatively! I figured no two meals would taste the same, so I didn't mind so much! The service, however, was awesome from start to finish! Our Server, Stacey, was SO cool...energetic, friendly, smiled all the time! And, she was extremely quick, upon realizing we had to eat & run since my husband had to be @ work by 8:00 pm! (we just came back from church & my husband surprised me by stopping @ HuHot for supper) However, not only Stacey, but the line staff was excellent too! Friendly, courteous, & conversable! One even went above & beyond, by offering, then bringing out ,a small dish of chopped green onions for me! This was done after I suggested providing purple onions, Vidalia Onions (seasonal) as a variety. I forgot about suggesting to offer different colors of peppers (orange, red, & yellow) too. This is the place for you. It features a full buffet of every possible diharretic out there. (Excluding Sugar Free Gummy Bears) My favorite part of the whole trip was when the man cooking my food so kindly took some broccoli from the dish next to mine. I thought this place was going to be great at first glance since they had some people in there. I walked up to the meat bar and everything seemed way out of place and the meat looked a bit old. I decided to go for the chicken just because that was the only thing I dared to try. It went downhill after the meat...the sauces didn't even look clean (cross sauce contamination as I like to call it). Not all of the sauces were labeled so I was left wondering if I even had the right flavoring. The guys behind the grill were pretty friendly and quick with the food. Tom did a great job with being welcoming as I walked in 10 min to closing. He was super nice and explained how you order ( I had never been there before). The chefs on the other hand, seemed to be pissed that I had to come in so late. In their defense, I have worked in jobs where I loathed people coming in just before close too. I was only getting takeout and was out of their hair in 15 minutes. Food was so/so- It was the end of the night so it looked like some things hadn't been refreshed lately. They recommend you put ungodly amounts of sauce for flavor, but it seems a bit like overkill in regards to salt intake. It's a decent place to stop for a meal. Here are the negatives: not a great veggie selection, super messy everywhere, and a nasty greasy floor that you can slip on easily if you aren't careful. Well, I am in Sioux Falls SD to visit my baby grand-daughter here. My daughter in law told me this was one of the places that she and my son eat out a lot at. So I figured why not. We have a similar place in both San Antonio and Austin Texas. The establishment was clean and the decor was nice. The hostess (who was also the manager) sat us at a booth and we looked over the menu. Our waitress came to our table and asked us if we had been there before. I said that I have not, and if she would kindly explain the service. She was Chey was curt, but to the point. She got our drink orders and brought my tea, soda for my daughter in law, and apple juice for my grand-baby. (though she did not bring out any sugar for the tea. (come on, I know not everyone drinks sweet tea, but a good waitress always offers) The service line was okay. The food products were well maintained (temperature wise, which is a major problem at most establishment like this.) Kudos for that. The sauce area needed some help though. (there was much spillage from one sauce container to others near it, and it looked like it had not been serviced in a while. The gentleman on the cooking station were great. Awesome personality and cooked up our plates quickly, and neatly. I have no complaints on this arena. I did order a cup of hot and sour soup to go with my dinner plate. Unfortunately this is one of my complaints. It was WAY too salt for this dish. So salty in fact that it just ruined the whole flavor experience. I had only two spoon fulls of it before turning it away. The second half of this was when I informed the server of the issue, she just asked "I guess you don't like it?" I once again said that "no, I did not like it. I was way over salted and was inedible." She shrugged her shoulders and walked away. Well, I have had my years experience working in the food service industry, and I can tell you that (if I was the chef, and or manager of this place I would be slightly put out if the staff did not approach me about the complaint so that something could be done to rectify the situation (or dish) to make the customer happy.) This was never done. Lastly was our server really did not go around the dining area to check on her patrons much. I know we were there for nearly an hour and not once did she come by and offer to refill our drinks. That is shabby service. (and it was nearly empty when we were there. ) All in all, the food was pretty good. Not great and definetly not aweful (with the exception of the soup) I can't say that I will be back here... I was referred to this restraunt by a co-worker who consider his favorite in Sioux Falls. If you come at noon it will get busy at the grill. Some of the ascetics needs some work in my opinion, water stained ceiling tiles, some of the flooring in the grill was missing as well as the vent hood appeared greasy. The Dining room was too dark, need to have lighter paint.The glasses that they use are to small, two drinks and it is empty. Great Cheesecake you will get a big portion. Ok. I have read several of the reviews on here and am surprised by the negativity I read. My husband and I love eating here. I think people moan and groan about the cleanliness and less than perfect food areas aren't taking into how busy this restaurant is. We dined at this HuHot in the evening during Labor Day. It was busy but was getting busier by the time we left. The wait staff were busy and attentive to all the customers. There was someone constantly refreshing, refilling and cleaning up the meat/noodles, vegetable and sauce area. I will admit the sauce area was messier but come on, this stuff dribbles easy, no matter how careful one is. OH, I am disappointed the garlic oil had hardly any garlic in it. Now to the grill. The counter was wiped clean except for the crazy green bean and noodle that wanted to avoid the hot grill but they got captured and put into solitary confinement. Whoever complained about the greasy nasty hood over the grill, way back whenever, sorry, but this one was spitshined and clean. Yah, the cooking area was a little messy but when you are cooking for hundreds of people it wasn't all that bad. They do a pretty good job of regularly cleaning the grill off and the over flow drop off. I have Celiac's disease and this is a safe place for me to eat. I get goosebumps each and every time these cooks clean the grill and separate a section off for me so I don't get contaminated. Folks, you are the artists in this food world.
